Dominic E.

Dominic E. received his BA degree from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC) in Jazz Studies. He is an accomplished musician who has won multiple awards for his playing and musicianship and has performed many different genres of music in several states. Dominic is a multitalented and skilled person whose love for music is only matched by his passion for math. Dominic’s love for math began when he was very young. He has been in advanced math classes, won multiple awards for his math abilities and academic performance, and uses his free time to discover new ways to understand and approach math. He believes that math is vital to many things which we do and he loves seeing students understand and come to appreciate it, as well as see its application to everyday life. In addition, Dominic recognizes that people learn differently and he has developed many ways to help students understand math, science, and music. Dominic firmly believes that math and music are intertwined and he, therefore, combines them in his teaching and tutoring when it is appropriate. Dominic is a unique individual who does not always learn in the traditional way that some schools teach. He has a strong desire to understand things on a deeper level so that they make sense to him and he seeks to help his students understand information and not just give back what was provided. He prides himself in meeting students where they are and helping them find ways to understand that work for them. One of the things that makes Dominic enjoy his work so much is when he is able to help students understand and go from struggling to success. Dominic has tutored many students in levels of math from elementary through advanced college, worked as a substitute teacher, taught small groups of students, worked as a high school teacher in math, technology and science, and tutored students in music from beginning to very advanced levels in theory, composition, performance skills, transcription, and song writing in most genres of music. Dominic combines his keen sense of humor and deep knowledge base to challenge students to understand material while building their confidence to try things which they previously thought were difficult or impossible – often times by tapping into their creativity.

Shivani Jain is passionate about helping students excel in math and science. She has 13 years of experience working with middle-school, high-school, and college students.

Shivani has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in math, physics, and chemistry — as well as a master’s degree in International Business.

She is an ideal math tutor for students in algebra 1 and 2, geometry, trigonometry, calculus (1, 2, AP, AB, and BC), physics, and chemistry. In addition, Shivani thrives on helping middle- and high-school students prepare for Mathcounts and AMC 8/10 competitions.

The belief that everyone has the potential to excel in math and science is what drives Shivani’s dedication to helping her students reach their full potential.

In her spare time, Shivani likes to go out on walks, hikes, enjoy nature, dance, and cook.

Hello, I’m Hala! I have a bachelor’s in engineering and my master’s degree is in Mathematics. After working with students for the first time and feeling their success and happiness of grasping the material, I decided to go for my master’s degree so I can be part of that. I have been tutoring for 10 years, teaching in person, virtual, and online college students for 5 years. I became a mentor tutor, participating in training tutors to work with students, and it’s truly been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I’ve helped so many students achieve their academic goals year after year and I know that YOU are more than capable of doing the same with the right help.

Cherry is on course to graduate from McGill University in 2024 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience. She attended Marianopolis College in Honours Health Science with the Director General’s Student Life major entrance scholarship. Ingrid Ulbrich is a passionate and tenacious educator who believes in the unlimited potential of all students to enjoy and succeed in STEM. In addition to helping students learn math and science, she helps them take ownership of their learning and strengthen their learning skills. Ingrid’s enthusiasm for STEM and learning shines through in all of her interactions with students.

Ingrid is a graduate of Niwot High School, MIT (B.S., Environmental Engineering) and the University of Colorado – Boulder (Ph.D., Atmospheric and Analytical Chemistry). She has 20 years of experience tutoring in STEM subjects, including 10+ years of teaching college chemistry.

When she’s not working with students, Ingrid probably has a spatula, musical score, book, or knitting needles in her hands. And maybe a cat in her lap, too!

Anthony has his Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering from McGill university and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning at McGill University to become a high school math teacher. Joe is a certified teacher with five years of high school classroom teaching experience in English, Civics & Government, Economics, Math, and Spanish. He graduated from Mizzou and jumped right into teaching/tutoring while pursuing grad school. Joe now holds master’s degrees in education and economics. Ibrahim is completing his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Concordia University after having acquired therefrom BEng and MASc degrees. For six years, Ibrahim has worked as a teaching assistant and lab demonstrator for a variety of mathematics, physics, and engineering courses while also offering private tutoring services to students at his academic institution.

His specialties are Math (including Calculus and Linear), Physics, and Programming (C++, Python) all up to the university level. Ibrahim has received some amount of recognition for his academic performance be it in the form of appearing in the Dean’s list or humbly accepting different academic scholarships and awards.

Ibrahim regards few roles to be as fulfilling as that of the teacher to the student and seeks to emulate this idea in both his professional and personal lives.

EN: Adrien is a 3rd year student in Mechanical Engineering at Concordia University. Perfectly bilingual, he has been tutoring math and physics both online and in person for over three years. He has a strong interest in astrophysics and artificial intelligence. Along with studying the night sky with his telescope, he has done presentations for the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and has been published in SkyNews magazine. He worked as a camp counsellor for many summers and is an avid outdoorsman and camper. He can often be found reading in his hammock at Park Mount Royal.
