Kyle H.

Kyle is a primary English educator and aspiring film professor with more than six years of teaching and tutoring experience across multiple classrooms, workshops, online platforms, and subjects. While he has been pursuing his masters degree in education at National Louis University, he has also been supporting grades 9–12 as a permanent substitute teacher at Hinsdale South High School. Kyle also has led screenwriting, creative writing, and public speaking sessions for Cardinal Filmworks, a student owned and ran film collective at Ball State University (his alma mater). Finally, after his undergrad, he also tutored poetry, Spanish, photography, and videography for learners of all ages with Varsity Tutors as one of their Creative Writing Experts. His style tends to center on building up confidence and problem solving skills through lessons that connect his students’ work to their interests. Creativity is a core tenet of his and because of that he loves to design personalized, engaging sessions that balance creative freedom with structured feedback so that each student grows as both thinker and creator. Because of this more creativity-focused approach, crafting relationships with my students is paramount to me. Learning about their lives and helping them succeed is just as important to me as their academics. Kyle is a lifelong reader, film buff, devoted sci‑fi and fantasy fan, bass guitar player, and avid Chicago & New York sports fan (Cubs/Sox Mets/Jets).

Abby G.

Abby has been working in education for nearly six years and is currently in her fifth year of classroom teaching. She has experience working with students across a wide range of grade levels, from Pre-K through 11th grade.

She currently serves as an AP English Language and English I teacher and previously taught middle school Social Studies for four years. Her diverse classroom experience allows her to adapt instruction to meet the needs of different ages and learning styles.

Abby is passionate about helping students experience those meaningful “a-ha” moments that move them to the next level in their learning. She values building strong, positive relationships with her students and believes that children learn best from educators they trust and enjoy working with.

She looks forward to supporting students through personalized, one-on-one instruction and partnering with families to help their children succeed.

Nicholas B.

Nicholas is a passionate and highly experienced math instructor with a Master’s Degree in Education from Sacred Heart University. Over the past several years, he has worked with students across all grade levels—from elementary through high school—helping them build confidence and mastery in mathematics.

Nicholas teaches remotely in the mornings through a one-on-one independent school in Connecticut and works in the afternoons at two learning centers in Florida. He works with students on all high school math subjects, including Algebra I & II, Geometry, Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, and AP Statistics. No matter the level, Nicholas focuses on helping students strengthen their understanding and build confidence in their math skills.

With extensive experience in both classroom and tutoring settings, Nicholas has successfully guided students through rigorous math curricula and standardized test preparation for the SAT and ACT math sections, often leading to significant improvements in performance and self-assurance.

Known for his patient, structured, and encouraging approach, Nicholas tailors every session to meet each student’s unique learning style. His strong mathematical foundation—highlighted by a perfect 800 on the SAT Math section—and his commitment to student growth make him a trusted and effective mentor for learners at every stage of their academic journey.

Kaitlan N.

Kaitlan is passionate about motivating students to believe in themselves and thrive academically. She holds a K–5 multiple subject credential as well as a single-subject English credential, and she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from Point Loma Nazarene University.

Warm, encouraging, patient, and structured in her approach, Kaitlan brings a steady presence that helps students feel comfortable and confident. She has experience supporting students with attention and focus challenges.

Outside of tutoring, Kaitlan volunteers with the Girl Scouts, mentoring girls in leadership and creative projects. She also helps facilitate artist panels at the Chicano Park Cultural Center and Museum. Her community-minded focus, mentorship background, and interest in the arts help her connect quickly with students and make her an especially strong fit for creative, relationship-driven learners.

Elias A.

Elias Allen graduated from the University of Oxford in 2017 with a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. He worked as an SAT prep teacher and tutor for AP US History, AP World History, and AP Literature in DC and Maryland from 2018 to 2019. Elias served as a Peace Corps TEFL Volunteer in Kosovo from 2019-2020 and from 2022-2023, teaching English to K-12 students. In 2020 and 2021 he worked as a tutor in Oregon for elementary and middle school students, tutoring English, reading comprehension, writing, math, and coding. In 2021 Elias taught English and critical thinking skills to students in Kosovo virtually in the Peace Corps Virtual Service Pilot Program. He graduated from Columbia University with an MA in 2025. In his free time Elias enjoys playing basketball, ping pong, and tennis.

Muskaan T.

Hi, I’m Muskaan, a graduate student in Bioengineering at Rice University with a strong interdisciplinary foundation in bioinformatics, biology, chemistry, and mathematics. With over five years of tutoring experience, I’ve had the opportunity to guide high school, undergraduate, and graduate students through subjects such as organic chemistry, biology, genetics, calculus, biostatistics etc. My teaching philosophy centers on turning complex topics into clear, engaging lessons that connect theory to real-world applications. Beyond tutoring, my professional experience spans both academic research and clinical practice from analyzing genetic risk factors for cardiovascular disease as a Graduate Researcher at UTHealth Houston, to assisting with pain management and pediatric clinics. These experiences have strengthened my ability to bridge scientific knowledge with practical understanding, which I strive to bring into every session. I’m passionate about helping students not only master challenging material but also build lasting confidence, curiosity, and a genuine appreciation for learning.

Josh C.

Josh earned his Master’s in Science Education from Rutgers, where he also studied Physics with minors in Math and Education. Since 2010, he has been helping students through private tutoring, Rutgers programs, and various companies—spending nearly 10,000 hours working one-on-one with learners of all levels.

What Josh loves most about teaching is making tough subjects like Physics and Math feel less intimidating. He focuses on helping students really understand the concepts behind the equations, not just memorize steps. Connecting abstract equations to real-world examples is of paramount importance when making things click, and whenever possible, Josh has students explain the material back to him—it’s a great way to build confidence and deepen understanding. Seeing that growth in students is Josh teaches, and he would be excited to help you get there as well.

In his free time, Josh likes to annoy his cat and play strategy games of various types to keep his mind sharp. Eventually, his cat decides they need attention, and then Josh gets to have the extra difficulty of playing while maneuvering around a cat between his face and the screen. It’s a good life.

Matthew D.

Matthew grew up in Brenham, TX, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Texas at San Antonio, graduating magna cum laude. During his studies, he discovered his passion for teaching and helping students understand math and physics in ways that make sense to them.

Since 2021, Matthew has been a full-time educator in the Austin area, teaching and tutoring a wide range of subjects, including Pre-Calculus, Calculus I & II, Geometry, Algebra, and AP Physics. His teaching philosophy centers on building a strong conceptual foundation and adapting lessons to each student’s unique way of thinking. He has also worked successfully with students with learning differences such as dyscalculia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and autism.

Matthew’s structured yet flexible approach helps students gain both confidence and mastery in their coursework. He is known for his patience, clear explanations, and ability to make challenging material approachable.

Robert S.

Robert is a professional and engaging tutor with 15 years of tutoring experience. He has Bachelor’s degrees in both Math and Chemistry and a PhD in Computational Chemistry from Stanford University. He specializes in high school and college level math and chemistry courses in addition to standardized test preparation in these areas. His level of subject matter expertise and understanding of students’ individual preferred learning styles helps his students achieve great success in their studies. His teaching style focuses on asking the student questions to allow them to arrive at the answer, which results in better memory and pattern recognition when they inevitably later see similar types of problems. Bruce M.

Bruce is an experienced educator with over 30 years of teaching and tutoring across academic subjects including math, science, writing, history, and geography. He’s helped students at all levels improve understanding, raise grades, and boost scores on standardized tests like the SAT, ACT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, GED, AP exams, Regents, ASVAB, and Civil Service tests. He’s served as an Adjunct Professor for over 30 years at several colleges, and also taught with The Princeton Review and Kaplan, bringing proven test-prep strategies to his students. In addition to 20 years of private tutoring, he spent 5 years with Science Adventures, running after-school science programs and summer camps plus 6 years at Treasure Island Day Camp in charge of all Nature programs.
His professional background includes more than two decades at Brookhaven National Lab, as well as technical and management roles at Grumman Aerospace, Robotic Vision Systems, Megadata, and American Science, working in scientific research, engineering, software development, management, and consulting. He’s also developed training programs and educational curricula for both academic and professional settings.
Beyond teaching and tech, he is a published writer with thousands of pages in print, as well as a journal editor. Students appreciate his ability to explain complex concepts clearly, build confidence, and adapt to their unique learning style.
