Kevin W.

Kevin is a former high school math teacher with over 30 years of teaching and tutoring experience. He has created and taught three math courses for a local California college and has previously taught at Palm Beach State College in Florida and CT State Community College in Norwalk, Connecticut. Kevin is also the author of two math books: The SAT Mathematics Solution Guide and Quantitative Reasoning. In addition to teaching, he consults and provides corporate training in Excel and Microsoft Office products, and he conducts a series of courses at MiraCosta College.

 

Joshua T.

Josh grew up in the suburbs of Texas and his favorite subject has always been math. Whether it be helping his peers in class or professionally, he has been tutoring others in math since the fourth grade! He attended Texas State University and graduated in 2015 with a B.S. in Physics and a minor in Mathematics. During his time at Texas State, he was acknowledged by the Physics department as the outstanding undergraduate instructor of the year and even led the groups of other student instructors for his lab sections. He also participated in a state of the art program that focuses on the learning process of mathematical concepts, and here is where he really developed and honed his skill for teaching math. He received perfect scores on every exit level test from highschool, a perfect 800 on the SAT Math, and a perfect 36 on the ACT Math. He approaches every student with compassion, and possesses a unique skill of diagnosing the foundational gaps in learning to help students maximize their potential. Not only is he in the top 1% of test scores, but his love for math and helping others learn puts him in the top 1% of educators as well.

 

Tamana P.

Tamana is a dedicated math tutor and current Economics and Finance student at The University of Texas at Austin, where she maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA. Her academic  success reflects her deep mastery of mathematics and her ability to break down  complex concepts into clear, approachable steps.  She has extensive tutoring and mentoring experience, including supporting peers and  younger students in mathematics, test preparation, and study skills. Tamana also  dedicated over 500 hours as a counselor at CampCAMP, where she provided  individualized support to children with diverse learning needs. This experience strengthened her ability to adapt instruction to different learning styles and build  confidence in students of all abilities.

Known for her patience, strong communication skills, and supportive teaching style,  Tamana makes math engaging and accessible. She believes that every student can  succeed with the right guidance and encouragement. Whether it’s preparing for exams,  strengthening foundational skills, or tackling advanced coursework, she works closely with students to help them achieve their goals.  When she’s not tutoring, Tamana enjoys running, traveling, and exploring global financial markets.

 

Andrew L.

Andrew holds an MFA in Creative Writing from The City College of New York (CCNY). He has experience teaching AP English courses, adjunct lecturing in First-Year Writing Composition to freshmen college students, and teaching advanced extracurricular grammar, writing, and vocabulary workshops to San Diego elementary and middle school students. Andrew is an editor at Fiction magazine, a literary publication headquartered in Harlem, New York.

 

Walker J.

Walker is an Idaho native, born and raised in Idaho Falls. He moved to Boise in 2023 and is currently a full-time Junior at Boise State University, majoring in Construction Management with a minor in Spanish. A high achiever in high school, Walker served as Senior Class President before graduating summa cum laude with a 4.2 GPA. During that time he worked as a tutor for his twin sister who struggled with information retention. By using real-world scenarios and hands-on examples, he made learning more engaging, and discovered a genuine passion for teaching in the process. Instead of lecturing, Walker continues to use a conversational, student-centered approach, encouraging dialogue and active thinking. He looks forward to building meaningful connections with each of his students and supporting their growth through patience and collaboration.

 

TASFIA A.

Tasfia is an experienced STEM tutor with over four years of tutoring experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, specializing in secondary and post-secondary mathematics and sciences. She has worked with more than 100 students across diverse curricula, including the Ontario curriculum, International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced Placement (AP), Danforth’s MaST, and Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs. Tasfia has extensive experience supporting students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), skillfully adapting her teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and ensure comprehensive understanding and skill mastery. She is a compassionate, friendly, and adaptive educator with a special interest in cognitive psychology who approaches learning from a trauma-informed perspective.

 

Eric X.

Eric is an experienced tutor with a Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto and an Honours Bachelor of Science in Medical Physics from McMaster University. His strong academic background provides a solid foundation in mathematics, physics, and science education.

Eric has served as a Physics Teaching Assistant at McMaster University, where he lectured on tutorials and supervised lab sessions. In addition, Eric has extensive tutoring experience with Grades 10 to 12 students, including preparing students for the Waterloo Math Contest to enhance their problem-solving abilities and mathematical reasoning skills.

I am currently a Literacy Instructional Specialist with 16 years of experience in education, including a variety of leadership roles. My work is grounded in the Science of Reading, and I specialize in building students’ skills in reading, writing, and test preparation. I am passionate about supporting students one-on-one and helping them grow into confident, capable learners. I earned my first three degrees from Kennesaw State University and Georgia State University, and I am now pursuing my doctorate at Liberty University. With a strong foundation in research-based practices and a heart for individualized learning, I look forward to making a lasting impact through tutoring.
