Maryam is a third-year honors undergraduate student majoring in biochemistry at York University. She possesses both a strong foundation in STEM subjects and an eye for the arts. Before she transferred to York University, Maryam earned first place among her peers in Calculus at the American University of Sharjah, UAE. Having lived in 14 international cities, and 6 countries, and traveled to 20+ countries, Maryam has become a vibrant mosaic of so many mesmerizing cultures. Moreover, she is fluent in 3 languages: English, French, and Arabic. Working as both a swim instructor and tutor for over 11 years now, Maryam excels at conveying knowledge in an engaging and digestible way. Aaron is a seasoned educator with a proven track record of helping students with relationship based instruction. With six years of combined classroom and one-on-one tutoring experience and a passion for empowering young minds, Aaron is an expert in specific methods of teaching reading, k-10th grade math, creative/essay writing, and US/World History. Aaron’s commitment to teaching began at Northeastern University where he got an internship at the Boys and Girls Club in Boston for a year. This is when he switched his life-long training in music to teaching. He helped students with homework, and taught small group piano lessons. He continued to privately tutor high school students writing college essays. After graduating with honors, he moved to Nicaragua, learned Spanish, and began teaching English to large classes. He returned home to teach piano privately and received an ESL Certification and a teaching certification from the American Board. He then began working for Lindamood-Bell Learning Academy tutoring kids k-12 with learning disabilities, reading, math, writing and history. When he isn’t tutoring Aaron is composing and performing piano music and enjoys hiking, fishing and rafting on the Chattahoochee River. Loridy is a passionate second-year Master’s student specializing in child education for the primary and junior division, while also working towards her Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) designation. Being the recipient of three scholarships, Loridy attained her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Education with high distinction. In her teaching, she adopts a student-centred approach that pays close attention to individual interests, needs, and diversity.

Known for her outgoing and friendly demeanour, Loridy has four years of tutoring experience, specializing in working with children aged 6 to 12, including English Language Learners (ELL) and newcomers to Canada. She has taught English, math, science, and social studies in classroom settings, always striving to make learning fun and engaging for her students.

Her experiences as a camp counsellor and study group leader have deepened her understanding of the importance of developing healthy study habits and fostering a growth mindset—principles that are reflected in her teaching practice. Félix a obtenu un diplôme d’études collégiales (DEC) en sciences pures et appliquées au Collège Dawson. Il poursuit ensuite des études en sciences environnementales et sociales à l’Université de Montréal. Une de ses matières de spécialité comprend les mathématiques du niveau primaire à cégep. Félix a plus de 5 ans d’expérience en tutorat et a obtenu de nombreux prix académiques durant son parcours scolaire. De plus, en 2021, Félix a suivi un cours de tutorat pédagogique de français pour maîtriser des compétences en tutorat. Il a également de l’expérience de tutorat avec des étudiants de niveau primaire à cégep en français. Félix s’intéresse beaucoup à la transition environnementale et sociale et il est impliqué dans plusieurs associations. Il aime faire de l’exercice; il court compétitivement et fait du ski de fond en hiver.

Félix earned a cégep diploma (DEC) in Pure and Applied Sciences at Dawson College. He then went on to study environmental and social science at Université de Montreal. His speciality subjects include Math and Physics covering Calculus 1, 2, 3, and Linear Algebra. Felix has over 5 years of tutoring experience and has obtained multiple academic awards in his area of speciality. Furthermore, in 2021 Felix completed a pedagogical tutoring course to master his tutoring technique. He also has experience tutoring students in Elementary-Cégep level French. Felix is deeply interested in the environmental and social transition and he is involved in several associations. He loves to exercise as he runs competitively and cross country skis during winter.

AMY C.

Amy is a Bachelor of Education student at Mount Royal University. She previously completed a Bachelors and a Master’s degree in Music Performance, providing her the opportunity to teach in both the classroom and individual studio settings. Amy returned to school to become an elementary school teacher after experiencing the magic of teaching dyslexic children to read. She firmly believes all children are capable of learning with evidence-based instruction, practice, and patience.

In her free time, Amy enjoys reading aloud to her three children, sewing, quilting, and journaling.
