Adamo M.

EN: Adamo earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Neuroscience from McGill University and his PhD in Biophysics from the University of California, San Francisco. Passionate about science and mathematics, he enjoys mentoring the next generation of scientists and hopes to become a university professor. With three years of experience tutoring at the high school level and several years as a university-level teaching assistant, Adamo is dedicated to helping students build confidence and curiosity in their studies. Outside the lab and classroom, he loves exploring the outdoors—whether running, hiking, or biking, he’s always on the move!

Freddie E.

Freddie holds a degree in Mechatronics Engineering and has extensive experience in mathematics and physics tutoring. With a strong academic background in engineering, Freddie has developed a deep understanding of complex scientific and mathematical concepts, problem-solving techniques, and their practical applications.

Beyond his technical expertise, Freddie is passionate about teaching and has worked in various educational roles. He has experience as a teaching assistant at Cawthra High School, where he provided individualized support to students, ensuring comprehension and confidence in their learning. He has also trained new employees in professional settings, emphasizing clear communication and step-by-step instruction.

Currently, Freddie works as a tutor, specializing in high school math and science, including physics, chemistry, and biology. He adapts his teaching approach to suit different learning styles, creating an engaging and supportive environment that fosters both understanding and academic confidence.

In addition to tutoring, Freddie volunteers with the Start2Finish Running and Reading Club, mentoring young students in academics and physical activities. LEISHA D.

Leisha competed her Education degree while simultaneously completing a Psychology minor at the University of Calgary. Her teaching experience ranges from being a teaching assistant in preschools to currently being an online K-12 tutor with the Werklund School of Education. Her specializations include Math, Science, and English Language Arts at the K-6 level.
Her major combined with her tutoring experience has given her a strong foundation of the Alberta Curriculum and the confidence to teach it. Additionally, she has gained a deeper understanding of working with online teaching platforms and Zoom, which complements her teaching as an online tutor. Utilizing a student-centered teaching approach is a crucial lesson she has learned from her degree, and it is something she ensures to incorporate into her teaching.
She believes teaching is a privilege where one gets the opportunity to guide, support, and help students succeed through their educational experiences. Here, she intends to create a student-centered learning space where she can help students thrive in their journeys.

 

 

Sharon C.

Sharon is a certified teacher from San Antonio who studied at Abilene Christian University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in History and Social Studies (2004). She has taught students in the classroom as a World History, US History II, and Sociology Teacher and as a substitute teacher from PreK to 12th Grade. She was also a Librarian Assistant for a few years. She guided students through the research process by showing them how to find information in books and computers and create a final product in a written paper, a project with pictures on poster board, or a slide show presentation. She has also tutored students in Math, Science, and Reading. Since 2021, she has homeschooled her three children.
She cares for her family of one husband, three kids, and two dogs. She enjoys using her skills to craft things, singing soprano, occupying her mind through reading books, and stepping into a different mindset by playing TTORPGs with friends and family.

Sara V.

Sara is a Junior/Intermediate teacher candidate in her second year of the Bachelor of Education program at Wilfrid Laurier University. She previously earned a Bachelor of Kinesiology from Wilfrid Laurier in 2021, with Health and Physical Education as her teachable subjects.

Her decision to pursue education stems from a commitment to fostering student success and creating inclusive learning environments. Inspired by the impactful educators in her own academic journey, she strives to support diverse learners through differentiated instruction and culturally relevant pedagogy.

With experience teaching Grades 3 to 8 through four practicum placements, Sara has been recognized for her professionalism, competency, and strong relationship-building skills. She is dedicated to continuous learning and growth, ensuring her teaching practices evolve to meet the needs of all students.

 

Justin B.

Justin is a certified teacher originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, who relocated to British Columbia to pursue his teaching career. Before heading West, he earned a Bachelor of Science (Honours in Biology Research) and a Master of Science (Research-Based Thesis in Pathology) at Dalhousie University.

As a lifelong athlete, Justin grew up playing competitive hockey. Through years of coaching, he discovered his passion for teaching young people, which ultimately led him to a career in education. He went on to complete his Bachelor of Education at Acadia University in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley.

During his academic career, Justin was awarded over $100,000 in research and academic scholarships and contributed to eight research publications, including three as a first author.

In his spare time, he enjoys snowboarding, playing hockey, golf, and volleyball, and road-tripping across the country with his family. As an intermediate French immersion teacher, Justin is passionate about building strong relationships and creating a supportive learning environment where all students can thrive.

 

 

 

 

Payman J.

Payman has a Ph.D. in Tectonophysics from the University of Toronto, a 1st class honour bachelor’s degree in Geophysics from the University of Calgary, a Master of Science in Medical Physics, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics.

His Ph.D. research was on improving earthquake detection using computer vision algorithms. He has over 20 years of teaching experience in the science, engineering, and environmental fields and currently teaches at Humber, Mohawk, and Sheridan Colleges. He has also worked in the industry as a data scientist, but his passion is teaching. Payman’s teaching style focuses on developing intellectual confidence in his students by guiding them through systematic problem-solving approaches.

He is an avid road cyclist and mountain biker, has raced ultra marathons for 14 years in Canada and Europe, and is a former climber.

 

Amir M.

Amir is a passionate educator with extensive experience tutoring high school, university, and MCAT sciences, including biology, chemistry, and physics, as well as mathematics courses such as advanced functions and calculus. With a strong academic background in biomedical sciences and a 3.96 GPA from Toronto Metropolitan University, he excels at breaking down complex scientific and mathematical concepts into engaging, easy-to-understand lessons.
