Gabriella L.

After completing her Bachelor of Science degree at McMaster University in 2019, Gabby went on to pursue her career in education. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she spent time teaching English virtually to students in Ecuador and studied to become an educational assistant. She received her diploma in Educational Support at Sheridan College in 2022, where she graduated as the class valedictorian with the highest GPA in the program. Her experience as an educational assistant allowed her to take on the mindset that focused on how each individual student learns, and challenged her creativity to adjust curriculum materials according to students’ needs and preferences. The resulting academic development of the students inspired her to go into teaching full-time. Today, Gabby is currently pursuing her Master of Teaching degree at University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Through theory and practicum-based approaches, she is being further equipped to find and bridge gaps between student motivation towards education, their skill levels, and Ontario’s curricula expectations. Gabby understands the significance of the provision of resources and support beyond the classroom walls and is eager to play a positive role in each students’ path to success.

Andrew M. A.

Andrew is a Florida Certified Teacher. He is a native of Guyana, a relatively small country in the continent of South America.

After teaching and a stint of Public Relations, he moved to the Bahamas on an offer to take up a teaching position on the island of Freeport. He taught there for about 14 years during which he completed his Bsc degree in Secondary Language Arts at Nova Southeastern University. While there he also took the opportunity to travel to the United Kingdom where he observed and studied their Educational systems.

This was easily arranged and facilitated since he was granted first hand access by his family and friends who worked as teachers in England. The experience was quite informative and somewhat nostalgic since he was educated himself in the same system (Guyana then British Guiana was once a colony of the United Kingdom).

During many Summer months Andrew offered his services to the remediation of many students who had not achieved within the given school year the grade points necessary to make it to their next allocated grade. He has experienced notable and consistent success. He has also offered courses in Art/Craft, Folk Culture, Science and Maths to students Grade 2 to Grade 5.

Andrew firmly believes in the power of inspiration and motivation to take students to levels they may not have believed really possible. He continues to place faith in a child’s ability to respond most positively if a relationship of mutual trust, respect and reverence could be built and sustained.

As a mentor he has dedicated himself to researching modern and updated methods and strategies proven to improve learning for students.

He has also achieved measurable success with once ‘at risk’ students some of whom have maintained contact until present.

Andrew continues to find these experiences enjoyable and extremely rewarding.
