Lalita P.
Lalita is a graduate from Brock University with her Bachelor of Education, as well as her Bachelor of Science from University of Toronto. She is certified to teach the Primary/Junior/Intermediate divisions. She has recently completed her Additional Qualifications in Mathematics parts 1, Special Education part 1, English as a Second Language part 1, and Intermediate General Sciences. Her goal is to receive her specialization in Mathematics over the next year. Lalita is passionate about helping students succeed in their education by creating a fun and enthusiastic learning environment that fits her student’s needs and interests. She has volunteered in non-profitable tutor labs during her spare time, as well as the Learning Disabilities Association of Niagara Region. Lalita has always enjoyed tutoring since she was in grade 7, and has continued to show her passion for student success throughout teachers college. By using different methods to fit the need of individual learners, she strives to see that lightbulb turn on in each of her students. In her spare time, she likes photography and likes to paint. Lalita looks forward to helping your child learn and grow to be the best possible!
SHANNON J.
Shannon is a caring dedicated teacher, who is motivated by the belief that all students can be successful learners.
She holds a Bachelor of Education through York university in the primary and junior divisions, as well as additional qualifications to teach all subjects of the intermediate division, Special Education and Physical Education.
Shannon is a proud teacher for the Peel District School Board, having taught Kindergarten through Grade 8, she currently teaches in the primary division, adapting her teaching methods and materials to meet her students’ varying needs and interest, focusing on development of critical literacy and numeracy skills. Shannon promotes mental, social, and physical development in her students and encourages them to be “their best self” through her support of classroom and school wide student involvement. When she is not teaching in the classroom, Shannon is helping students build their confidence and skills through her leadership of various teams, clubs and committees such as Chess Club, Basketball Team, Asian Heritage Committee, Recycling Club, and Lego Robotics Club to name a few.
KEITH W.
Keith has just recently completed his Bachelor of Education at Brock University. He is qualified in the junior and intermediate divisions and can teach all subjects. Keith completed his undergrad at McMaster University where he majored in kinesiology. He has a passion for helping students learn and enjoys seeing students maximize their potential. Keith is committed to making learning engaging and enjoyable and hopes to help build life-long learners. Outside of school, Keith has a passion for sports, specifically baseball.
FRANKTONNY C.
Franktonny is the first Canadian-born member of his family to successfully pursue his university degree. Franktonny graduated from Brock University’s Concurrent Education Program (majoring in Health and Physical Education) in 2017. In 2018, he sought to complete various additional qualification courses: Special Education, Visual arts, Science, and Primary Education. At this time, Franktonny also made his mark as an Outdoor Leadership Field Instructor and Resident Youth Counselor Support Worker for Pine River Institute – a therapeutic boarding school located in Northern Ontario. Through these experiences, Franktonny has learned to embrace the importance of making meaningful connections with students as a way to most effectively support them through times of conflict and hardship. These professional relationships are built with a focus on mutual respect and growth. Additionally, Franktonny’s patience, flexibility and openness to alternative perspectives allow him to remain mindful and focused on the present needs of students in all levels of development/exceptionality.
Franktonny believes in a holistically developmental learning environment – providing academic and social support through organizational teaching practices. He willingly shares his behaviour management tactics and believes that there is a lesson to be learned with every experience had. This being said, Franktonny is a firm believer in the learning that occurs beyond the classroom walls. Though qualified to teach at all elementary levels, he also embraces those experiences had outside of the classroom: being an outdoor enthusiast (a regular at High Park or Lakeshore), a foodie (open to eating all types of food), and a health & fitness junkie.
Clearly, Franktonny has a long name, and a lot to say. He is compassionate, enthusiastic and prides himself on being an intellectual teacher/ support worker/ coach. Franktonny is always welcoming new opportunities to connect and learn from others.
VICTORIA F.
Victoria graduated with distinction from Ryerson University in 2018, with an honours degree in Biomedical Science and a minor in Psychology. Victoria has always been passionate about school and she is currently in the process of completing a Master of Teaching degree at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, with General Science and Biology at the Intermediate/Senior level as her teachable subjects. Victoria is easy to get along with and enjoys building professional relationships with her students. One of her focuses is to encourage students to develop good study habits that will last a lifetime.
Istafa S.
Istafa is a certified member of the Ontario College of Teachers. He attended Brock University, where he completed the Concurrent Teacher Education (Bachelor of Science (Honours) / Bachelor of Education) program. As a result, he has teaching qualifications for Intermediate/Senior Biology and Chemistry. Istafa has had in-class teaching experience with Grade 9 and 10 Science, Grade 11 Chemistry, and Grade 11 and 12 Biology. He has also been an environmental educator with various environmental organizations over the last decade. Istafa also attended Niagara College, where he completed a post-graduate certificate in Environmental Management and Assessment. Due to these experiences, he has worked with students from Kindergarten to University/College level courses. Istafa also has prior experience tutoring both secondary and post-secondary level students. Outside of the classroom, Istafa is an avid hiker, runner, musician and artist, playing instruments such as the Guitar, Ukulele, and Mandolin.
NICOLLE B.
Nicolle graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University (USA) with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree and is entering her second year of her Bachelor of Education program at Brock University. She is specialized in teaching the primary/junior grades (k-6) but has qualifications in special education and English up to grade 12. Nicolle is familiar with EQAO and volunteers to scribe each year at different schools across Halton. This year, Nicolle taught all subjects in a grade 5/6 class, with a focus on grade 6 EQAO practice. Combining what she has learned at Brock and in her practicums, Nicolle has been able to develop different methods and styles of teaching to reach differentiated learners. Through her inclusive teaching practices and interactive lessons, Nicolle creates a fun and positive learning environment where students feel comfortable to explore new and different ways of thinking. She has tutored in the past and has also worked with little readers programs teaching students as young as 3 to start reading. Nicolle feels that it is extremely important to get to know her students and find out how they learn to forge a unique path to success for each individual student. On her spare time, Nicolle loves to read, watch hours of cooking shows and then attempt (and fail) at making the recipes and gardening. Tomatoes are her specialty!
JULIA B.
Julia is an Ontario Certified Teacher who grew up in Toronto. She recently received her Master’s of Teaching degree from the University of Toronto where she also completed her Bachelors of Science in Biology. Julia has a passion for teaching STEM subjects and completed her research thesis on how to improve science teacher self-efficacy in elementary school teachers. Prior to completing her Master’s she worked for over 4 years in Taipei, Taiwan as a classroom teacher and developed a love for the country’s culture and food. Aside from classroom teaching, she has also taught SSAT prep and loves to help her students reach their academic goals. When Julia isn’t teaching, she loves biking and has done many long distance rides all over the world.
Emily M.
Emily is a Bachelor in Child and Family Studies with Honours graduate with her Bachelor of Education and OCT in progress with Nipissing University. She also has her Early Childhood Education diploma from Conestoga College. Emily has 10 years of elementary school experience in a grade 1 classroom. She is also Strong Start certified. Emily also tries to incorporate interests of the students and relates lessons back to their interests. She would love to make a good relationship with the students which will lead to improvement in skills and lessons.
MIRA F.
Mira has been teaching for over 9 years, after graduating from Canisius College with her MEd. She has taken many Additional Qualification courses including Spec. Ed., Reading and Kindergarten and is currently working as a Kindergarten teacher in Toronto. Mira has experience working as a Spec. Ed. and ESL teacher with students from Grade 2 to Grade 8. She has worked with many children that are on IEPs, with exceptionalities such as ADHD, Gifted and ASD. Mira is qualified to tutor children in all areas, from Kindergarten to Grade 8.
