DUSICA T.

Dusica is an Ontario Teacher certified at Primary, Junior, Intermediate and Senior levels. She graduated with a Bachelor in Education from the University of Western Ontario. Prior to this she attended Wilfrid Laurier University where she obtained a diploma in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Geography.

Dusica has had a dream of being a teacher since she was 3 years old. She has been working with children for over 10 years now and enjoys her profession more and more each day. She believes that every student can learn if they have the right amount of support they need. Dusica’s goal is to make students fall in love with learning the way she did. Her outgoing personality helps with establishing strong connections and trust between her and her students

In her free time Dusica enjoys hanging out with friends, hiking, traveling, taking photographs, cooking, baking and the occasional movie night. Dusica loves learning new languages. She fluently speaks English, Macedonian and Serbian. She is also working on learning some Spanish, French and Italian.

IAN R.

Ian grew up in Calgary, completing a BA and MA in Religious Studies at the University of Calgary, before moving to Toronto, where he completed his PhD at the University of Toronto’s Department for the Study of Religion in 2017. Along the way, Ian also studied Sanskrit at the University of Pune in India and worked for several years in the research department of a Bay Street financial services firm.
Ian has been teaching at the university-level since 2009, in the areas of Religion and History, most recently at the University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario. He is passionate about teaching students to read, write, and, most importantly, think critically about the world around them. Seeing students master their course work is amazing; seeing students become effective, organized ,and dynamic young men and women is even better.
In his spare time, Ian enjoys reading spy novels, the occasional Netflix binge, running, playing basketball and coaching his twin boys’ baseball team.

Kameel K.

Kameel is your one-stop shop for tutoring in math, science, English, French, and humanities for grades K through 11! With 4 years of tutoring experience, he has developed engaging methods to help students with different learning styles reach their full potential in the classroom. Kameel completed his undergraduate degree at McGill University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in immunology at the University of Toronto. His unique perspective may be especially useful to students with interests in research or medicine. Kameel spends his spare time volunteering for seniors and writing children’s stories encouraging compassion and understanding regarding certain medical conditions. Kameel also enjoys working on his basketball skills (go raptors), playing Pokémon Go with his nephew, and going camping close to his hometown in Montreal with his cat, Cleo.

ALEC M.

Alec is an Ontario-certified History/Social Sciences teacher and current M.A. History student at the University of Toronto. Before moving to Toronto, he completed his Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa, specializing in Grade 4-10 History. Before that, he graduated from Queen’s University in 2016 with an honour’s degree in History and World Religion. He began teaching ESL to students of all ages in 2016 while living in Europe. He speaks French and a little Spanish and loves learning new languages. He has taught Grade 3-4 Core French, Grade 7/8 Language Arts, History, and Health, and Grade 6/7 English Literacy in the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB). He also taught various subjects – primarily English, Social Studies, and Physical Education – from kindergarten to Grade 10 in the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE). In his spare time, he loves to play music with his siblings, especially guitar and bass. He also loves to play and coach basketball and is a huge Toronto Raptors fan. He has some suggestions for how the team could be improved but does not have the influence to secure a meeting with management. Since 2010, he has been a support worker for an individual with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their family. What he loves most about teaching is seeing students gain confidence in themselves.

Lander P-F.

Lander is an Ontario Certified Teacher who graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in English, a Bachelor of Education, and Minor in Social Sciences from York University. Throughout his six-year undergraduate degree, Lander consistently worked within the education sector which included leadership roles in school field trips, and clay sculpture workshops. After work, Lander can typically be found in his apartment with his cat Ezra, watching a quality film. Lander is an individual who is passionate and dedicated to his teacher’s craft, and seeks to hone his skills alongside his students with an energetic and motivated personality – above all, Lander wants to see his students succeed.

LES T.

 

Lesley, or Les as she likes to be called, is a certified teacher of 22 years.  Les came from Montreal to complete M.A. courses at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and then completed her teacher certification as well as specialist courses in Special Education. She later acquired a  Masters in Social Work at U of T with a focus on children and families.
Les loves kids and likes people. She is a kind, energetic and creative person who would like to share her love of teaching with younger learners in the earlier grades.  Les has a profound love of books and reading and art. Even before she had her own child, Les began to collect children’s books and is happy to have a little library of her own.
Les is experienced working with students with diverse learning styles and challenges (including learning differences / disabilities, attention issues and anxiousness).  She is well-equipped to build an effective plan to support young learners on their journey to tackling reading, language and numeracy skills. Les has excellent people skills and will communicate clearly with parents about their child’s progress. She employs creative strategies and engaging resources for learners. Les has a patient, friendly and playful approach to teaching.

STEPHEN P.

Stephen has tutored extensively in all areas of advanced mathematics, including calculus/vectors, and has successfully guided students through AP Calculus and the IB math program. He especially enjoys working on problem-solving strategies. Stephen also has several years of experience with all aspects of SSAT, SAT, ACT, and MCAT preparation, including guiding students through the often arduous university application process.
He also enjoys working with students at all levels across many subjects. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters Degree in Comparative Literature, specializing in English and French,. Stephen’s primary research focus was the nineteenth-century novel. He has also received his MBA from the University of Warwick in the UK, .
Finally, Stephen has a real passion for literature, history, and philosophy, spending his free time delving into contemporary works. Stephen has recently taken a liking to nineteenth and twentieth-century history, and believes that as citizens we benefit when we have a fuller understanding of the past.

Pieter B.

Pieter grew up between North America and Europe (Canada, USA, France, UK). He went to Middlebury College in Verrnont for his BA in Spatial Analysis and Human Ecology and to School for International Training, also in Vermont, for his MA in International Administration, and Cross-Cultural Teaching & Training. After work in cultural exchange and education, tourism, theatre performance and others, he has been teaching in Ontario at the high school and intermediate levels, with Ontario Certification.
The arts and humanities, and more specifically Extended French and Immersion have been foremost. Positions in international and private schools, as well as the Toronto District School Board, and in Ontario & France have also included the IB Theory of Knowledge and the IGCSE from the UK.
Interests include hiking, skiing, sailing, horseback riding, cycling, writing, photography, and environmental issues.
He likeshing for it’s involvement with young people who are discovering who they are, gaining skills, perspectives and structures which will serve them for many years. He finds that the energy of students, and his own, form a synergy of discovery for all involved. An attempt is made to connect learning to a student’s curiosity and experience and encourage new avenues of thought and action. This is a teacher who really enjoys his students and lifelong learning.

Mo J.

Mo has a background in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Biology. He has earned a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degree from York University.

Mo also has a Specialist in Guidance and Career Education. He is a member of the Science Teachers Association of Ontario. He also enjoys teaching mathematics and values making mathematics more visual and accessible to students.

He has taught over 15 years students from primary to secondary.

Mo enjoys hiking, constantly learning about and enjoying nature, visiting historic buildings and participating in historical tours.

DAVID T.

David has over 25 years of teaching experience. His family experience has allowed him to teach in SK, BC, and MB. He taught in the Winnipeg School Division most recently, teaching at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute and serving as a Vice-Principal at both Cecil Rhodes and Greenway Schools. David has a B.A. from Yale University, a B.Ed. from the University of Regina, and a M.Ed. from George Fox University.
