Valentin S. F.
Valentin is a bilingual educator and coach who has been in the field for 15 years with experience working in middle and high schools in the New York City and Long Island area. He specializes in history and bilingual social studies for native Spanish speakers. Val attended SUNY Buffalo State College where he received his undergraduate degree in history and was a four player for the Buffalo State Bengals. After he graduated, he began working as a substitute teacher and football coach in his hometown of Valley Stream. He pursued his post baccalaureate education at QUNY Queens College where he received his secondary education teaching certificate. During this time, his passion for working with youths in educational and athletic settings only grew, and it became clearer that this was the profession for him.
After getting his certificate, Val worked for the NYC DOE for 5 years as a middle school social studies teacher and developed skills that would serve him at any educational level. He also gained a level of empathy needed to be successful in education; empathy he did not know he had. After year 5, a better opportunity presented itself on Long Island closer to where he lived; his new post was teaching bilingual history to native Spanish Speakers. Helping people from his Latin America learn U.S. and world history was something he truly enjoyed. He was teaching people history and a new language all it once; it was a challenge he accepted and thrived in.
Along with his experience in education, Val has experience as a construction foreman, helping his father with his landscaping business and as a sanitation worker. Val is a true new age “Renaissance Man” who understands the value of hard work whether he’s wearing his white or blue collar. He met his fiancée, Jessica, while on a trip visiting his sister in Louisiana. They just purchased their first home in Prairieville, Louisiana and live with his two stepchildren and their two dogs. Val is all of these things and more. He will bring that passion and past experiences to make a connection with your child and improve their skills in the classroom and in the real world.
