Joe G.
Joe is a certified teacher with five years of high school classroom teaching experience in English, Civics & Government, Economics, Math, and Spanish. He graduated from Mizzou and jumped right into teaching/tutoring while pursuing grad school. Joe now holds master’s degrees in education and economics. He is a lover of sports, primarily soccer and tennis, the outdoors, and traveling. He is also trilingual in English, Spanish, and Albanian, which has made visiting nearly 20 countries a whole lot easier! As a tutor, Joe is passionate about helping students reach their full potential. Having coached youth sports, taught a myriad of subjects, and individually tutored students in after-school programs, he is patient, understanding, and has a knack for explaining complex concepts in a way that students can understand. One of Joe’s favorite things about tutoring is getting to know his students and helping them develop their own unique learning styles. He believes that everyone learns differently, and he tailors his teaching methods to each individual student. Anna D.
Anna is a proud Colorado Native. When Anna was young, she decided she wanted to be able to communicate with everyone on Earth. Pursuing that dream, Anna graduated from MSU Denver with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Spanish and French. She is currently working on her Master’s degree in Curriculum Development.
Anna recently moved back to Colorado after teaching English and Exam Prep in Egypt for seven years. Teaching and living abroad brought Anna’s passion for exploring other cultures and learning their languages to life. Today, she speaks seven languages and has visited over 40 countries!
In her spare time, Anna loves spending time with her family and running (albeit slowly). One day, she hopes to run the Leadville 100 and do a marathon along the Great Wall of China.
FARAH M.
Farah is a passionate teacher with more than 15 years of experience in teaching at schools and tutoring. She has a Master’s degree in Education and linguistics, and speaks more than 3 languages fluently. She has studied and taught art as well in all its mediums. She also studied singing, playing the acoustic guitar, and music reading at the conservatory. She has worked with kids from preschool to grade 12, as well as with adults. Her classes combine the academics and the fun activities, and she likes to incorporate visual arts to make her lessons more interesting and easier to comprehend. She strongly believes that being a teacher is the most rewarding job because, not only she helps shaping the students’ future, but she also learns a lot from them.
SANDY A.
Sandy was born in Venezuela. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a double major in Education and Physical Education and a minor in Spanish. After completing her degrees, Sandy began her teaching career teaching Spanish to students from grade 5 to 12. In 2006, Sandy completed a master’s degree in Spanish Language and Culture at the University of Granada in Spain. Teaching Spanish to children and adults is a passion that Sandy has successfully pursued for more than 17 years. Sandy believes that learning another language allows students to not only communicate but to also become active and participatory global citizens. Learning a second or a third language and their respective cultures allow students to see the world and other point of views through a critical, caring and compassionate lens.
MAGDALENA F.
Magdalena has a master´s degree in Children’s Literature. She works as a Spanish tutor and as an academic writing teacher in Spanish language. She in an enthusiastic bird watcher!
EMILY V.
Emily is a graduate of the Master of Teaching program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. She is currently a supply teacher in the Durham District School Board and the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. Emily is from Ajax, Ontario and was an elite level competitive swimmer throughout her elementary, high school and undergraduate career. She competed at Olympic Trials and won MVP at her conference championships in the NCAA for the University of Denver. Originally wanting to be a med student, it wasn’t until she took a science communication course that she realized she wanted to change the course of science education. Emily aspires to dismantle systemic barriers, make learning accessible for all and make education personally meaningful. When she is not working, she can be found nose deep in a book with her cat on her lap or watching a Leafs game with family and friends. Emily works to involve student’s personal interests in their learning as that is what helped her excel in her own academics.
Omar B.
Omar holds a bachelor of business administration from ESADE Business School and a master’s degree in hospitality management from Les Roches. Additionally, he is completing his bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Ottawa in the junior and intermediate divisions. His main didactic is mathematics. He likes to listen to his students and their needs to provide them with quality teaching leading to their academic or professional goals. Also, if you need to improve your language skills he will certainly help you as he speaks French, English, Spanish and Arabic. He taught French to federal government employees during two years so he has experience preparing students to reach the level of comfort needed to pass both oral and written exams.
Leah H.
Leah Haft is currently studying Secondary Education Mathematics, with a minor in K-12 Spanish Teaching at Elmhurst University. Her desire to become a teacher started at a young age. She has experience working with students in various settings, such as through nannying, life coaching a student with special needs, and in a classroom setting. She has been nannying for 2 and a half years, in which she has been able to sit-in on a couple of IEP meetings. Through participating in classrooms, Leah has been able to teach some lessons and help students with their math work. In her free time, she co-leads a Girl Scout troop of 12 girls and has had some leadership experience with the Honors Program at Elmhurst University.
Andrea A.
Andrea is an enthusiastic and experienced language teacher who is fluent in English and Spanish. Andrea grew up in Nicaragua and moved to the United States to pursue her education. She holds a BA in Environmental Studies from Naropa Universityand an MBA in Global Business from Adelphi University. Also, Andrea has lived in Bhutan and Northern Spain, which broadened her cultural understanding, especially when it comes to the Spanish language.
Andrea is passionate about teaching, learning, and helping others improve their language skills because knowing how to speak a second language opens a world of new opportunities.
In her free time, Andrea enjoys painting, travel, entrepreneurship, and learning French (her first second language).
Saje R.
Saje is a Certified Teacher. She graduated from Mount Royal University in the spring of 2022, with a Bachelor of Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish Languages and Hispanic Cultures. She completed her final teaching internship with Calgary Academy, where she taught Grade 2 students. Throughout her field experiences and practicum placements, Saje has experience teaching at every grade level. Saje believes in the importance of decolonizing our classrooms, schools and curriculums and successfully completed her final capstone project titled “Roses of Reconciliation: the Art of un-Learning”. Through collaboration alongside Indigenous communities, authentically and respectfully incorporating Indigenous voices and resources into the classroom, and working with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, Saje strives to model decolonization and teach students their role in reconciliation.
Saje‘Slove for working with youth was fostered at a young age, when she became a camp counselor for 8 consecutive summers. Saje spent her summers working at Camp Cadicasu, where she would instill love, wonder, curiosity and appreciation for nature with youth. She initially began her studies of Education at the University of Saskatchewan, where she studied for one year before transferring to Mount Royal University. After five years of pursuing her dream, Saje made the decision to teach abroad. She worked as a grade one teacher at a private school in Guadalajara, Mexico and fell in love with the culture and school. Additionally, Saje has experience private tutoring at varying ages and subject areas. While tutoring, Saje fosters a safe and inclusive learning environment where the learner feels comfortable taking learning risks and exploring new challenges. Through hands-on, personalized instruction directed at the students interests and learning needs, students’ love for learning expands. Saje believes in supporting students in expanding their self-confidence and self-esteem to support their development in the classroom and beyond.
In Saje‘s free time, you can find her climbing mountains, in a downward dog yoga position, reading books, creating art, or dancing in nature. She loves anything regarding creative expression and believes in the healing power of art and nature. With a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to the curriculum, Saje finds overlaps within subject areas to create integrated learning for her students. Saje is looking forward to tutoring with you!
