Aparna V.

Aparna V. is a deeply caring and accomplished Special Education teacher with over 20 years of experience helping students reach their full potential—academically, socially, and emotionally. Based in Austin, Texas, Aparna holds a Master of Arts in Childhood Education & Special Education from New York University and a Master of Science in Child Psychology from Bangalore University. Her expertise spans grades K–8, with a special focus on students requiring individualized support in reading, math, and behavior.

Currently serving as a Special Education teacher at Laura Welch Bush Elementary School in Leander ISD, Aparna provides both resource and inclusion support across K–5 classrooms. Her teaching approach combines structured literacy strategies, visual supports, behavior reinforcement, and deep empathy to ensure every child is met where they are and guided forward with confidence.

Aparna has worked in diverse school districts across Texas, California, Washington, Illinois, and internationally in India. From teaching functional academics and communication skills to children on the autism spectrum, to leading behavior intervention plans for emotionally challenged learners, she brings unmatched experience, patience, and cultural awareness to every session. Her students regularly show marked growth in reading fluency, comprehension, and social-emotional development under her guidance.

A lifelong learner and passionate educator, Aparna is trained in SAMA (Satori Alternatives for Managing Aggression), certified through Texas Reading Academies, and experienced in instructional design. She’s also a classically trained Indian dancer and multilingual, speaking Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada.

Benjamin B.

Benjamin B. is a veteran educator with over 15 years of experience in both special education and general education, supporting students across diverse K–8 settings. Based in Cheshire, Connecticut, Benjamin holds multiple certifications, including Professional Teacher (K–6), Special Education (PreK–12), and School Administrator (092). He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University, a Master’s in Autism Spectrum Disorders from the University of Saint Joseph, and an Initial Principal Certificate from the University of Bridgeport.

Benjamin is known for his ability to create learner-centered environments that foster academic growth, confidence, and inclusion. He is highly skilled in adapting curriculum, delivering differentiated instruction, and using progress monitoring to guide student achievement. He has taught in school districts throughout Connecticut—including Windsor, Ansonia, Hartford, Waterbury, and Bridgeport—and brings deep expertise in IEP development, behavioral interventions, and collaborative educational planning.

Outside the classroom, Benjamin is a dedicated father to two daughters, ages 8 and 10, and actively coaches their baseball team. He also enjoys hiking and weightlifting as part of his active lifestyle. Passionate about helping every child thrive, Benjamin looks forward to supporting students in reaching their full potential and achieving their academic goals.

Emily M.

Emily M. is a dedicated Special Education teacher with experience in supporting diverse learners. She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, giving her a strong foundation in both the science of reading and social-emotional learning. Through her studies, Emily developed a deep passion for fostering literacy growth. She is trained in both the Orton-Gillingham approach and the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program. During the school year, Emily case manages a Social-Emotional Learning program focused on building executive functioning skills and confidence in her students. Outside of the classroom, Emily extends her education on how to integrate art into learning. She actively seeks meaningful ways to incorporate creative expression into her lessons. Emily brings warmth, structure, and consistency to every session, using her deep understanding of behavior and literacy to build strong, supportive relationships with her students. She truly believes that every child deserves to feel successful in and out of the classroom.

 

Sherry P.

Sherry is a dedicated teacher and reading intervention specialist with an extensive background, experience, and training in educational settings. Her expertise includes Wilson Language Training Fundations, developing and implementing literacy, based programs for early childhood, elementary, teens and adults.

Sherry is an experienced Connecticut state certified teacher and certified Child Life Specialist. She is a graduate of Wheelock (a teacher’s college) in Boston, MA. with both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Education. In addition, her dual majors include training in pediatric hospital settings where she worked as a teacher and play therapist. Sherry has worked with children from newborn-young adults in urban and suburban communities. For over 25 years she has taught numerous grades including pre-k., kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school students in public, private school classrooms and health care settings.

Sherry is conversant in Spanish and has been a mentor to others. In her caring, patient, organized, dedicated manner, her ability to apply practical, best-practice solutions with available resources will ensure each student has the skills necessary to succeed. She believes that every child is capable of learning. Sherry goes the extra mile to support them in a positive manner to help them reach their full potential and develop self-confidence as learners. Her experience with students includes: the general education population, autism, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, ADD, ADHD, medically homebound, social emotional behavior difficulties, physically challenged, executive functioning skills and English language learners.

In her spare time Sherry can be found baking banana bread, singing Soprano in her choir, and playing with her rescue cats, Louie and Sugar.

Lawrence T.

Larry Topazio has taught in both public and private schools for the past thirty-five years. During this time, he has utilized his elementary and secondary teaching skills effectively, always striving for increased student achievement. He also fostered vocational and work experiences through curriculum development at the high school level.. Having a son with a disability himself is the basis for his unrelenting pursuit of excellent educational assessments and instruction. He gets things accomplished by his adamant desire to see that all students can learn. Larry graduated from Western Ct State University and from Southern Ct State University.. This has given him a broad knowledge of students in both general and special education . In his spare time, Larry enjoys walking, hiking and creating poetry. Larry has one poetry book that he has written and creates poems for weddings, parties, and family events. Larry likes to incorporate poetry in both literature
and language arts instruction.

Jamari G.

Jamari is a dedicated educator and certified instructional coach with diverse backgrounds in special education, elementary instruction, academic tutoring, educational research, and scholarship application review. In the past, he was an ABA and worked closely with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. He is currently an instructional coach, where he supports new teachers in developing effective classroom practices; alongside this role, he is a classroom teacher. Jamari has taught a range of subjects, including special education, elementary core academics, middle school, and high school Algebra I, US History, and English. He has even earned recognition as a Teacher of the Year nominee for his impact on student growth in math and ELA.

Since 2018, Jamari has worked as a private tutor for students in grades 3–11, helping many improve by two grade levels or more and achieve top scores on state assessments. He holds a Master’s in Forensic Psychology from the University of Louisiana–Monroe and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi. It is during this time he made the conscious effort to study insects—mosquitoes in particular; these mosquitoes were reared in a controlled environment within a science lab. He’s clearly a lifelong learner and was called to teach. In his calling as an educator, he possesses a Level 3 teaching certification with a Special Education endorsement.
He is currently working toward receiving an add-on certification as an Educational Diagnostician. He possesses certifications in elementary computer science education through LSU and supports learning with technology. With a strong foundation in data-driven instruction and individualized learning, Jamari empowers students to reach their full potential.

Nikki J.

Nikki J. is a passionate special education teacher specialized in working
with students with autism and developmental disabilities. A graduate of Saint Joseph’s University, Nikki’s focus in Applied Behavior Analysis gives her a plethora of strategies to foster creative exploration of the curriculum inside the classroom. Within the span of 10 years Nikki has taught High School and Elementary School, and is currently in the
role of K-2 Special Education Teacher. Because of the uniqueness of students with autism and developmental disabilities, Nikki implements various strategies, differentiation, and modification to the lessons to improve skills and make learning fun on each child’s level. Nikki’s current enrollment in the Reading Specialist Program has taught her how to specialize her plans for teaching writing and reading comprehension to her students.

Nikki is heavily involved in her church and is a church leader in the Youth Department. Nikki enjoys game nights with her family, relaxing, and hanging out with her fur baby Diego.

Patricia S.

For over three decades, Patricia A. Sullivan has dedicated her professional life to advancing literacy and supporting diverse learners in both public school and university settings. Her career reflects a deep commitment to student success, teacher development, and inclusive education.

Patricia began her journey in education in 1990 as a Teacher of the Handicapped in the Passaic Public School system. Over the next 14 years, she worked closely with students with a wide range of learning needs, developing individualized instructional materials, conducting ongoing assessments, and reinforcing critical learning goals. Her compassionate, student-centered approach helped ensure that all learners received the attention and support needed to thrive academically and socially.

Recognizing her leadership potential, the Passaic school district appointed Patricia as a Literacy Coach in 2011. In this supervisory position, she played a key role in implementing New Jersey’s Reading First initiatives under the federal No Child Left Behind Act. Patricia led professional development sessions, coached educators on research-based instructional strategies, and worked to elevate reading instruction across multiple grade levels.

Since 2012, Patricia has served as a Reading Tutor at William Paterson University, where she applies Orton-Gillingham techniques to build phonemic awareness and blending skills among struggling readers. She conducts detailed assessments, designs customized interventions, and communicates regularly with parents to share student progress. Her university role showcases her enduring passion for literacy and her talent for working with learners at all levels.

Patricia’s educational background includes a Master of Education in Special Education and a Reading Specialist Certification from William Paterson University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Special Education from Seton Hall University. These credentials reflect a lifelong dedication to learning and a firm foundation in both the theory and practice of education.
