Sandra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Florida and brings a strong academic foundation to her role as a tutor. For the past three years, she has worked with students ranging from Pre-K to college, teaching subjects such as English, chemistry, organic chemistry, and various math courses.

Dao N.

Dr. Dao N. is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at San Diego State University. His teaching philosophy centers on cultivating student enthusiasm and motivation, which he sees as essential to academic success.

Dao earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Wayne State University. His research interests include optimization, control theory, and data science, and he is currently writing a book on machine learning. He’s passionate about both the theoretical and applied sides of mathematics. Outside academia, he enjoys singing, playing instruments, hiking, cooking, swimming, and spending time with friends.

Victoria P.

Victoria is originally from St. Petersburg, Russia. She received an excellent education in both countries: Lyceum 239 (the top 1% Advanced Math High School in Russia), a BS/MS in Applied Mathematics from St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (St. Petersburg, Russia), and an MS in Computer Science from Tufts University (Medford, MA, USA). Victoria has 20 years of experience teaching in the classroom. She is a Florida-certified math teacher (grades 5-12). Currently, she tutors Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, as well as EOC and High School Entrance Exam Preparation, accommodating various learning styles. To make learning more fun, Victoria loves to show how to apply math in real life, such as using the golden ratio in art and fashion, or performing math magic tricks like guessing your birthday!

Edward H.

I’m a certified teacher of English with extensive experience tutoring math through geometry, and into the fundamentals of trigonometry and calculus. I’m the content designer for two SAT preparation for the 2400 series of the test formerly available on iTunes, using a smart flash card platform that innovated a math system designed specifically to improve time management and trap identification, called CCCP Math. I have also identified techniques that limit the effects of self-distraction that is often the key to better concentration.

I believe there are four components to doing well on the SAT test: specific knowledge, problem solving process, focus, and confidence. I make it my business to address all of these areas.

I’ve been tutoring SAT for 10 years and have many success stories. more than 90% of student who do 6 or more lessons with me improve markedly. For elite score students, (those who could only possibly improve 16%) I’ve seen significant improvements in the reduction of the number of errors. For student starting in the 1000-1300 range, I’ve seen improvements as high as 90% better. I rely on a hybrid teaching approach where I use screen shots of slides from my apps, while process is taught and supported through tutoring and exercises based in McGraw Hill’s SAT book. The results have been great.

With covid affecting the learning process, I feel the need to offer my service as a distance learning coach to parents, helping as a mentor reviewing the coming weeks materials for presentation and stepping in to teach only when remediation is necessary. We can’t, after all, afford a full program of tutoring in all areas. With over 7000 hours of tutoring under my belt, parents can rely upon my perspective and advice.
Lately in my tutoring lab, I’ve developed techniques that show results in improving basic focus and addressing “Test Anxiety”. Ask me about my findings, if you fear your child is not suited to standardized testing. I may just be able to help.

MaatTchaas H. was born in the Bronx and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and now resides in Kennesaw, Georgia. She holds a B.A. in Dance from SUNY–The College at Brockport and a Master’s degree in Teaching Students with Disabilities (Grades 1–6) from Long Island University. MaatTchaas is a certified special education teacher with over a decade of experience teaching students in Grades 1–10, and she has worked extensively as a SETSS (Special Education Teacher Support Services) provider in New York City, delivering 1:1 and small group instruction to students with IEPs from kindergarten through 12th grade. She specializes in literacy, math intervention, and executive functioning, and is trained in Wilson Fundations, ReadyGen, Journeys, Eureka Math, Go Math, Zearn, and TC Reading and Writing Workshop. MaatTchaas is known for her calm, structured, and compassionate teaching style that builds both skills and confidence. Before transitioning into education, she was a professional dancer and is excited about returning to the studio. François-Michel L.

François-Michel L. discovered his love of teaching and tutoring when he taught a computer class while still in high school and has resided in the Washington DC area since 1991. He graduated with High Honors from Princeton University with an AB in Classics and wrote his senior thesis on ancient Greek epic poems (it wasn’t all Greek to him ). He then obtained an MSE degree in Computer and Information Science from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a sought-after tutor in both French and Computer Science. After graduating, he worked for ten years as an IT director at Fannie Mae before becoming a Scientific Systems Developer at the National Institutes of Health. At every job he has worked, he has had the great privilege of teaching technical and/or business classes to junior staff and providing one-on-one coaching as a corporate mentor. He is known as a dynamic and entertaining presenter and public speaker, holds both French and American citizenship, and is qualified to teach and tutor English, French, Latin, Math, and Linux. François is also allergic to cats, so please let him know if you have furry feline friends so he can take his allergy eyedrops ahead of time!

M. Galal

Mr. Galal is not your average educator—he’s a dynamic force in the classroom, blending the discipline and focus of a black belt martial artist with the passion and dedication of an experienced educator. With a distinguished background in teaching English as a second language (ESOL), standardized test preparation such as SAT, GMAT & GRE, and Advanced Placement (AP) exams, Mr. Galal holds a Master’s of Arts degree with honors in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and is certified as a PREK-12/ESOL teacher in both Washington, D.C. and the State of Maryland.

With over two decades of experience in education, Mr. Galal has taught and trained students across a wide array of settings—from K-12 schools to community colleges and universities. He is currently a full-time multilingual educator who teaches English as a second language, AP US History, and SAT preparation at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Washington, D.C. and he is a test preparation instructor at the American University. In addition, he serves as an AP test reader for ETS (Educational Testing Service) while managing a couple of test preparation centers he founded in Cairo, Egypt. He has also been recognized with multiple honors, including the United Nations Honor Medals for his service during peacekeeping missions. Besides his witty personality, Mr. Galal has also been known as “the teacher you don’t want to mess with!” since he once was a black belt, internationally ranked Karate player!

Caleb W.

Caleb is from Billings, Montana and was the first Native American Valedictorian at West High School. He has mentored and tutored high school students for nearly a decade to help them prepare for and apply to college. A few of the elite universities his students have been accepted to are: Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, and Amherst College. Caleb has a M.A in Native Food Systems from Montana State University and a B.A in Environmental Studies from Amherst College. His relevant professional career experience has ranged from being a college prep coach to working as a graduate research and teaching assistant. Having recently graduated, he is young enough to relate to your child while being old enough to have the lived experience to share.
