MAHSA B.
Mahsa brings over 12 years of teaching experience, having worked with young learners from toddlers to adolescents. Her educational journey began at age 18, when she volunteered as a teacher for an NGO, helping underprivileged children access quality learning opportunities they otherwise couldn’t afford. This early role sparked her lifelong passion for education and her dedication to creating positive change in students’ lives.
Committed to building an engaging and creative classroom, Mahsa weaves in real-world examples to make every lesson objective relatable and memorable. Growing up in London, she draws on her bilingual background to refine teaching strategies that promote natural language acquisition in English, while embracing cultural diversity and inclusivity to support all learners across multiple subjects. Holding a master’s degree in urban design, she loves incorporating hands-on crafts and design activities into her lessons, convinced that nurturing creativity enhances every aspect of learning.
Beyond the classroom, Mahsa is an avid musician who plays the violin, piano, and ukulele. She has performed as a violinist in concerts and at a film festival’s closing ceremony.
MARIETTE G.
Mariette has been teaching Math for 20 years. She completed her Bachelor of Education degree in 2000, from McGill University. While attending, Mariette was part of the National Honor Society.
Mariette is very passionate about teaching Math. She shows tremendous compassion with her students. She is understanding, patient, caring, easy to talk to, and will not stop trying, until your child understands the concept at hand.
KATE L.
Kate has over 20 years of experience collaborating with managers, coordinators, instructors, and ESL Student Support teams in dynamic, cross-functional environments.
She has extensive experience tutoring a wide range of grades and subjects. She is familiar with the Alberta curriculum. She is positive, confident and reliable and she is strong at arousing students’ interests in learning, especially the primary school students.
CAVELL B.
Cavell is a highly experienced educator with over 20 years in teaching, curriculum design, and educational leadership. With a Master’s degree in Curriculum Design, she has dedicated her career to helping children discover their strengths and succeed as lifelong learners.
Her journey in education has taken her across Canada, from classroom teaching to serving as an Education Consultant in the Yukon and an Education Coordinator in Alberta. Most recently, she has stepped into the role of Education Specialist, where she continues to support inclusive, student-centered learning and provide guidance to both educators and school teams.
She is passionate about building meaningful relationships with students and colleagues, and her energy for learning shines through in every interaction. Her expertise in curriculum allows her to support a wide range of academic areas across multiple age groups, from early learners to students in higher grades. At the heart of her work is a commitment to empowering students to see themselves as capable, confident, and successful learners.
MAHA I.
Maha is completing a Bachelor of Education at Mount Royal University, with a double minor in Humanities and Science. She has spent the past four years working in various classrooms and grades as part of her placements. These experiences have led her to plan and deliver instruction that caters to the individual abilities and needs of all her students. Her experience working at MRU Camps over the summer has honed her skills in fostering strong connections with students of various personalities. She is always looking to expand her skill set and challenge herself to new experiences. Outside of work, Maha enjoys reading, and cooking for her family.
KIAYANA B.
Kiayana is a certified teacher in Alberta and holds a Bachelor of Education with minors in Social Studies and History. She has experience teaching Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 6, and has also worked as a Diverse Learning Teacher. Her background includes working as a Preschool Teacher, where she focused on fine motor development, letter formation, and early phonics skills. In addition to her classroom teaching, Kiayana has worked as a Behavioural Aide supporting a student with Autism and ADHD. Through this role, she gained experience in social-emotional learning, functional language development, and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). Kiayana is especially passionate about literacy. She has worked as a Reading Instructor for two years and has supported a wide range of learners, including those with complex needs, to build confidence and skills in reading. She is patient, flexible, and committed to fostering a growth mindset. Kiayana values creating fun, engaging learning environments and building meaningful, long-lasting relationships with her students to help them grow both academically and personally.
MOSA A.
Mosa is an MRU Alumni, graduating from Mount Royal University with an English Degree. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Education at St. Mary’s University. He is also the author of two novels, which helps bring a more creative and engaging approach to learning. Mosa is also TEFL certified and has over two years of tutoring experience, helping both children and adults alike to develop their confidence and abilities to excel in their academic skills, most notably around English. Watching a student discover that “Oh” moment fuels his already strong passion for teaching.
Mosa’s teaching philosophy revolves around adapting to each and every student as he understands that what may work for one may not work for the other. He takes the time to know and understand each individual’s learning style so that he may create a supportive and personalized environment. He wants students to become confident and to take ownership of their learning journey.
During his free time, Mosa loves going for long walks, reading fantasy novels, and writing about any creative ideas that come to his mind.
VERONICA C.
Veronica is pursuing her Education degree with a concentration in Spanish language and Hispanic studies at Mount Royal University. Prior to starting her degree, she obtained her Diploma in social work with some extra coursework in children’s and adolescent mental health and Indigenous studies at MRU.
In addition, she worked for two years for the Calgary Catholic School District and a year for the Calgary Board of Education as an Educational Assistant, being supervised by teachers, vice-principals, and principals, working in the classroom, in small groups, and one-on-one with children with different learning approaches like ADHD and autism, and supporting different activities and curricula. She participated from 2014 to 2022 with volunteer experience for the CCSD and other churches, with the completion of various workshops and certificates at MRU. Based on the information above, she enjoys working with children and is able to help them during the process of learning, making it easier for them to understand with visual statements and/or in a fun theory-teaching environment.
ERIN B
Erin has a Bachelor of Arts in French Literature and a Bachelor of Education as well as the TESOL certification for teaching ESL. In the ever-evolving world of education, few professionals stand out as much as Erin for their versatility, commitment, and compassion to education. With more than two decades of dedicated service in both classroom and community environments, Erin has continually demonstrated an unwavering commitment to lifelong learning, student empowerment, and societal improvement. Her journey is marked by a blend of pedagogical expertise, leadership, bilingual proficiency, and a ceaseless desire to both inspire and uplift. Erin is passionate about teaching and learning and loves to work with families to help children succeed.
TYLER M.
Tyler graduated from the University of Calgary with a BA in English literature and a certificate in creative writing. She has a passion for reading, extensive experience running and participating in writing workshops and Volunteers at Lord Beaverbrook High School coaching their youth slam poetry team. Tyler struggled with learning disabilities from a young age, and thus did not learn the necessary skills to achieve academic excellence until she reached university. She wishes to impart those skills onto students earlier then she was able to grasp them, so they may flourish in their academic careers.
