MAYA R.
Maya received her Bachelor’s in Education from the University of Calgary and has over 20 years teaching experience in Alberta. Her focus has been elementary education in the areas of numeracy and literacy. She has experience working with students with diverse learning needs such as English as a Second Language, Learning Disabilities, ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
SANA A.
Sana is pursuing a Bachelor of Education Degree at Mount Royal University. Holding a Master’s degree in Law, Sana has chosen to focus her expertise on Elementary Education to fulfil her passion for educating and supporting children.
Throughout her academic journey, Sana has consistently excelled, earning a place on the dean’s honour roll list for every semester. With a passion for teaching, Sana has accumulated years of valuable field experience and practicum, working with students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Beyond the classroom, Sana has over a year of one-on-one tutoring experience, further demonstrating her commitment to fostering educational growth.
As a member of the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) and the Mount Royal University Education Undergraduate Society (EUS), Sana engages with the educational community on both professional and student levels. She is passionate about travelling around the world, delving into stories, and taking hikes for relaxation.
Sana’s teaching philosophy is centered around the core belief that building strong relationships with students and promoting inclusivity are integral components of effective education.
NICOLE C.
Nicole carries two degrees from the University of Lethbridge. A bachelors degree of fine arts as well as a bachelors degree in education. She has been teaching in the Calgary Catholic district for a number of years and has extensive experience with one on one tutoring. Nicole draws on her experiences in theatre to deliver engaging learning opportunities for all of her students.
SALLY D.
Sally is a Secondary School English Teacher from London, UK, specialising in High School level ELA, and analytical essay writing. She has been teaching in classrooms and tutoring for over 20 years. Now a Citizen of Canada, she has been tutoring Canadian students for nearly 10 years. She prides herself in enabling students to achieve and surpass their perceived ability, especially in exams.
When not giving glorious ELA sessions to students, or presenting classes for Teacher’s Pet in Calgary’s elementary schools, Sally can mostly be found outdoors.
Jayneel P.
Jayneel P. is a graduate in Astrophysics and Mathematics from the University of Calgary. Currently he is helping research before his Masters in Physics. Beyond research in Physics, Jayneel takes great pride in educating the future scientists and mathematicians of tomorrow, and in doing so he firmly believes he strengthens his own foundations in Physics and Mathematics. He has tutoring experience of 6 years, ranging from Elementary to University level subjects, and has seen a myriad of students all of diverse educational backgrounds. From this experience, Jayneel’s preferred method for teaching is to cultivate curiosity, allowing the student to gain confidence for self-exploration of the subject.

MELANIE M.
Melanie has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Science in Mathematics Education. Along with her formal training in engineering, education, and mathematics education Melanie brings creativity and enthusiasm for quality teaching and learning.
Melanie has taught in British Columbia, Alberta, and Egypt since 2001. Teaching learners from all backgrounds, at all levels, requires versatility. To ensure course information is kept current, clear, and relevant, Melanie’s strategy is to continually adapt models and lessons to suit learner needs.
Melanie likes to build on strengths and strengthen weaknesses. To achieve this, Melanie will get to know you, and seek out strategies that work for you. She will adapt existing strategies and research new strategies. As greater retention comes through understanding, Melanie will take you back to the basics and help you piece together all the bits to build true understanding. Further student success comes through learning strategies such as “study foldables”, manipulatives, technology use, games and competitions to reinforce learning.
RILEY L.
Riley is working toward her degree Elementary Education at Mount Royal University and minoring in Linguistics. Although her primary focus is at the elementary level, she has experience working one on one one and in small groups to support junior high math students. Riley grew up competitively Irish Dancing in Calgary and for the past four years has been coaching beginner dancers. Riley’s passion for education stemmed from helping a classmate with autism. She saw the difference she was able to make for that student, and since then became passionate about making a difference in all children’s lives.
ERIN B.
Erin graduated from a thesis-based Masters program in Physical Activity Sciences at Université de Montréal, with a specialization in Sport Psychology. She is bilingual and completed the majority of this degree in French. Previously, Erin attended StFX University, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Human Kinetics in the Pre-education stream, with a minor in French and a pair in Fine Arts. She is highly knowledgeable in the French language and in the areas of academic and scientific writing. Her primary teachables include French, English, Health, Science, and Art. Outside of school, Erin is a competitive track and field pentathlete and heptathlete, with a diverse athletic background in soccer and hockey which she competed in for over 15 years.
Erin has experience working with children of all ages as a track and field coach, gymnastics coach, lifeguard and swim instructor, and Fit 4 Life Student Leader.
JENILEE H.
Jenilee had a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology, as well as a Bachelor’ of Education. She is a certified teacher in Alberta and has taught science, math, and sports medicine at the high school level as well as grades 5 and 6. She has subbed all ages from K-12.
SANDY A.
Sandy was born in Venezuela. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a double major in Education and Physical Education and a minor in Spanish. After completing her degrees, Sandy began her teaching career teaching Spanish to students from grade 5 to 12. In 2006, Sandy completed a master’s degree in Spanish Language and Culture at the University of Granada in Spain. Teaching Spanish to children and adults is a passion that Sandy has successfully pursued for more than 17 years. Sandy believes that learning another language allows students to not only communicate but to also become active and participatory global citizens. Learning a second or a third language and their respective cultures allow students to see the world and other point of views through a critical, caring and compassionate lens.
