Meagan D.

Hi, I’m Meagan! I am currently a teacher candidate at York University in the primary/junior division. Before starting my Bachelor of Education, I completed my undergraduate degree in Linguistics at the University of Toronto.

I have over 10 years of experience in various educational settings, such as working as a French teaching assistant for a Montessori school, as an educational clinician for a reading remediation centre, and as a tutor for all grades and subjects. I am very passionate about reading and literacy and have extensive knowledge and experience with the science of reading.

As an educator, I believe that a student’s interests, choices and experiences should be at the forefront of learning. I strive to create engaging, meaningful and fun lessons and activities for my students. I love tutoring because it’s an opportunity to build strong, trusting relationships with my students and allows me to adjust my teaching style to directly benefit their strengths and needs.

Outside of tutoring, I love spending time outdoors, hiking, skating, skiing, playing tennis, etc. I also love reading, crafting and spending time with my friends, family and pets.

She thoroughly enjoys being a part of the learning process and loves bringing new and imaginative ways to help students grow.
