Maxine P.

Maxine is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with over 24 years of experience supporting children and families. She specializes in phonemic awareness, reading comprehension, structured writing, and multi-sensory math. Currently a Multilingual Coach with the Durham District School Board, she brings 18 years of classroom experience and a warm, relationship-focused approach to her work.

Zi is an OCT-certified Math, Business, and Coding teacher with over five years of experience teaching both in the classroom and online. Her teaching background spans ESL, Math, and the Canadian and Singapore curricula, giving her a diverse skill set and a strong understanding of how to support learners with different academic needs and cultural backgrounds.

Zi is deeply passionate about helping students build confidence and develop strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. She believes that learning should be engaging and accessible, and she works to ensure that each student not only understands the material but also enjoys the learning process. Her lessons are thoughtfully structured, interactive, and tailored to the unique needs of her students.

Maddy D.

Maddy is a Primary–Junior Teacher Candidate at Ontario Tech University. She previously attended the University of Toronto, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Sociology, followed by a Master of Arts and a PhD in Social Justice Education with a specialization in disability studies. Before beginning her Bachelor of Education, she worked as a preschool teacher at a centre for children with disabilities and as an Early Years classroom assistant at a private school in Toronto. She has also served as a course instructor and teaching assistant in disability studies at the post-secondary level.

Maddy’s teaching and tutoring philosophy is grounded in empathy, care, and a deep respect for each child’s unique learning journey. Karla is a second-year Bachelor of Education student at Lakehead University, where she is developing a strong foundation in teaching and student learning. Through her practicum placements in both a Grade 2/3 classroom and a Grade 6 classroom, she has gained valuable experience supporting students at different academic and developmental stages.

With many years of experience working with children and students in a variety of educational and community settings, Karla brings both passion and patience to her work. She has supported learners in tutoring programs, classroom settings, and extracurricular activities, and she consistently strives to help each child feel understood, capable, and valued. Karla believes strongly that every student learns differently, and she is committed to adapting her approach to meet the unique strengths, challenges, and interests of each learner. With over two years of experience as a piano and vocal tutor, Monika has supported students in building technical proficiency, creativity, and confidence. Her teaching style is patient, structured, and uplifting—prioritizing engaging lessons that are thoughtfully tailored to each learner’s strengths and goals.

Monika offers tutoring in Mandarin, Mathematics (Grades 7–12), ESL, and Music. Demitria, known as Demi, is an OCT-certified teacher who earned her Bachelor of Science from Trent University and her Bachelor of Education from Ontario Tech University. With expertise in general science and biology, and additional qualifications in chemistry, environmental science, and intermediate mathematics, she brings both depth and versatility to her teaching.

Since beginning her tutoring journey in 2020, Demi has developed a strong passion for supporting students’ success through creative, student-centered approaches. She believes every learner can thrive with the right guidance and is committed to tailoring lessons to individual needs. Patience, rapport building, and genuine care for her students’ well-being are at the heart of her teaching philosophy.

Outside the classroom, Demi enjoys video games, role-playing games, and board games, which she values for the focus, persistence, and problem-solving skills they foster—skills she connects back to learning.
