Shelby J.
Shelby is a teacher candidate currently completing her Bachelor of Education in Primary and Junior divisions at Ontario Tech University. Before pursuing her passion for teaching, she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus in Finance from Wilfrid Laurier University and worked for two years in corporate finance in Toronto. This experience strengthened her analytical and problem-solving skills, which she now applies to support students in their learning.
With a strong background in mathematics, Shelby has completed a range of courses including Data Management, Calculus, Algebra, and Financial Math. She enjoys helping students build foundational skills, deepen their understanding of core concepts, and approach challenging problems with confidence. Her goal is to make learning engaging, supportive, and effective for every student.
In addition to her studies, Shelby works as a Program Coordinator for an after-school daycare, where she develops interactive activities for children ages 4 to 12. Outside of teaching, she enjoys playing soccer and volleyball in Whitby and spending time reading whenever she can.

My name is, and I am a qualified teacher. I have a degree and diploma in Early Childhood Studies, a minor in Sociology, and my Bachelor of Education. I have taught in schools all around the Durham region and tutored for over eight years. I believe teaching is not a one-size fits all. I think teachers must alter and differentiate instructions to ensure students learn most effectively.
