Ava S.

Ava graduated from Western University with a Bachelor of Arts in Honours Specization History, a Minor in Music, and a Certificate in Italian. Ava is currently attending Western University’s Bachelor of Education program for Intermediate/Senior History and English. Ava has always had a passion for teaching! She began teaching private piano lessons at age 13, and has been uncertified supply teaching in the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic Board for the past four years. In her free time, Ava enjoys playing piano and volleyball, baking, reading, and travelling. Ava values engaging lessons, clear objectives, and student feedback in her instruction and is very excited to be a part of the Prep Academy Tutors team!

 

 

Leanna C.

Leanna is a Certified Teacher who grew up in Oakville, Ontario, and developed a passion for teaching through years of coaching tennis. While completing her undergraduate degree in Media, Information, and Technoculture at Western University, she competed on Western’s varsity tennis team, an experience that strengthened her leadership skills and love of mentorship. Through her time as both a player and now a coach, as well as her extensive coaching background, Leanna discovered that working with children, building their confidence, skills, and love of learning, was where she thrived most. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Education at Western University in the Primary/Junior division, graduating in June 2025. Through placements in a Grade 2/3 classroom at Bonaventure Meadows PS and a Grade 5/6 classroom at Wortley Road PS, Leanna gained valuable experience teaching across multiple grade levels and adapting to a wide range of learning styles. Her coaching background strongly shapes her teaching philosophy, emphasizing patience, encouragement, goal-setting, and meaningful student relationships.

 

Joseph A.

Meet Joseph, the kind of tutor who makes French and Spanish feel less like a chore and more like a fun puzzle to solve!
With over 14 years of experience teaching everyone from beginners to federal officials, and a near-native fluency in Spanish, Joseph brings a wealth of knowledge to every session.
Joseph has a proven track record of guiding students to success, boasting impressive pass rates of 95-100% on critical exams like the Cambridge IGCSE and Canadian government second-language tests.
He believes in a dynamic and engaging approach, often using games, online tools, role-playing, and cultural immersion to make lessons stick.
He has his own techniques to demystify and break down complex concepts including irregular verbs, subjunctive, and oral questions. The icing on the cake is that “Jo=Patience”.
When he’s not teaching, tutoring, or diving into 16th-century French literature for his doctorate, Joseph can likely be found exploring the nuances of other languages.
He’s also proficient in English and has an intermediate level in German and Latin.

Serena C.

Serena graduated from Western University with a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communications Studies. With her experience and education background, she thrives on open communication and developing strong relationships with her students. She recently applied to teachers college due to her passion to help students learn and grow. She truly believes in engaging with students using their individual strengths to make learning a fun and positive experience for all. In her spare time, Serena enjoys going to the gym, painting, and spending time with friends and family.

 

 

 

 

Gundeep T.

Gundeep, known to her students as Ms. G, is an Ontario-Certified Teacher with an M.A. and B.Ed and extensive experience supporting learners from diverse backgrounds and abilities. With over a decade of teaching and classroom support experience—including work with early elementary students, Indigenous communities, and learners requiring individualized education plans—she is dedicated to helping every child grow with confidence. Ms. G specializes in personalized, strength-based instruction, creating lessons tailored to each student’s unique needs, learning style, and pace. Her warm, patient, and encouraging approach consistently helps students build skills, overcome challenges, and experience meaningful academic success. Beyond teaching, she enjoys travelling and exploring new foods—interests that fuel the curiosity, openness, and positive energy she brings to her work with students.

Gloria C.

Gloria C. is a recent graduate of Western University, completing an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in French Studies, Gender and Women’s Studies, and English Literature. She is a current teacher candidate at Western University, in the postgraduate Bachelor of Education program, with a specialty in junior, intermediate, and French education. As a tutor of eight years and counting, Gloria has experience working with all ages on a plethora of subjects and needs. As part of her B.Ed program, she has also worked with an entire grade 6 class, consisting of 31 students with vastly varying needs and interests. Her teaching philosophy includes fostering a safe and comfortable environment for students to learn – something she eagerly implements into her tutoring, as well. Gloria loves working with students to help them thrive academically and emotionally, whether that is in a one-on-one setting, or within a group setting. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, spending time with her friends and pets, and gaming.

 

 

 

Miguel A.

Miguel graduated from Cornell University, where he earned a B.A. summa cum laude in computer science with a minor in mathematics, as well as an M.Eng. in computer science. During his time at Cornell, he spent five semesters working as a teaching assistant in computer science and one semester working as a math tutor at the Math Support Center on campus, where he developed a passion for helping students learn in a one-on-one environment. As a lifelong lover of math and computing, Miguel hopes to help students learn and grow in these subjects.

In his free time, Miguel enjoys playing video games, practicing martial arts, rock climbing, and reading One Piece. He has also traveled to countries such as Japan (he speaks Japanese!), China, Norway, Sweden, and Serbia.

 

Kimia M.

Kimia is a dedicated tutor with extensive experience supporting students in biology, chemistry, general science, and mathematics. She is currently pursuing an Honours Specialization in Health Sciences with Biology at Western University, where she has built a strong academic foundation in the life sciences and quantitative reasoning. Kimia brings over two years of tutoring experience, working one-on-one with learners to strengthen their problem-solving skills, scientific understanding, and confidence in challenging subjects. She specializes in breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps and creating personalized study strategies that help students excel in coursework and exams. Her work with children and youth extends through programs, where she designs and leads interactive activities that promote literacy, numeracy, and early science exploration. She also volunteers as a note-taker for Accessible Education, preparing accurate and well-organized academic material, a skill that directly enhances her tutoring. Beyond teaching, Kimia brings professionalism from her role as a Research Assistant with the VIRTUES clinical study at London Health Sciences Centre. Working in a scientific research environment has strengthened her attention to detail, communication, and analytical skills, qualities she brings to every tutoring session. Families describe Kimia as warm, reliable, and highly adaptable. She is committed to helping each student feel capable, supported, and engaged in their learning. Prabhjot K.

Prabhjot K. holds a Ph.D. in Biological Engineering and brings extensive teaching experience across both high school and university levels. She has taught high school science and mathematics for over eight years. She has 5 years of experience teaching first- and second-year university mathematics, physics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and mass transfer courses. Her interdisciplinary background allows her to connect engineering concepts with strong analytical and quantitative skills.
She excels at simplifying complex topics, guiding students step-by-step, and creating an encouraging learning environment where students feel confident tackling challenging material. Committed to academic growth and student success, Prabhjot supports learners in strengthening class performance, preparing for exams, and developing a deeper understanding of science and mathematics. Her expertise, patience, and student-centered teaching style make her a trusted and effective educator for learners at all levels.

 

 

Makayla L.

Makayla is a fourth-year pre-law student completing a double major in Psychology and Philosophy at Western University, where she is on the Dean’s Honour List. She brings a mix of academic excellence, communication skills, and mentorship experience from her work as a research assistant, human rights advocate, and community leader. Through roles with the Social Psychology Lab, Results Canada, and the Western Debate Society, she has developed strengths in analytical thinking, public speaking, and supporting others’ growth. She specialises in psychology and philosophy courses, including statistics. She understands how challenging the transition from high school to university can be and is excited to provide supportive, approachable guidance to help students build confidence and succeed. Makayla enjoys helping students engage with challenging material, and she approaches tutoring with patience, clarity, and a genuine commitment to student success. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the gym, playing badminton, and reading.
