Lorena M.

Lorena R. Munoz, Ed.D., is a mathematics and exceptional student education teacher at Coral Reef Senior High School in Miami, Florida, where she has taught since 2014. She holds an Ed.D. in Exceptional Student Education from Florida International University (FIU), as well as an M.S. (2006) and a B.S. (1998) in the same field.

Dr. Munoz began her career in 1999 at The Vanguard School in Coconut Grove. From 2001 to 2013 she taught exceptional education at Palmetto Middle School in Pinecrest, where she also chaired the Special Education Department. She holds Florida licensure in K-12 Exceptional Student Education and Middle Grades Mathematics 6-9.

For 20 years, Dr. Munoz has also worked as a private tutor, supporting elementary and middle school students. She is highly experienced in mathematics, with a particular focus on algebra and geometry. She builds students’ confidence and understanding by combining her classroom expertise with her training in special education.

Matt G.

Matt is a Miami native, software engineer and tutor who loves showing students that math can actually make sense, and can even be fun. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Florida in 2025, where he took Calculus 1 through 3, Statistics and Physics. Today he works full time as a Software Engineer, where breaking big problems into small, solvable steps is part of the job, and it’s exactly how he approaches tutoring. At UF, Matt was a teaching assistant for Programming Fundamentals 2 and a mentor in his fraternity’s mentorship program, and he has tutored elementary, middle and high school students in math and reading. He works with students in middle school math, Algebra, Geometry and introductory Physics. Matt believes most students who feel “bad at math” are just missing a building block or two. He tracks down those gaps, explains the why behind every step, and keeps sessions relaxed and upbeat. His goal is to be a mentor and a friend that students actually look forward to seeing each week, not one more hour of homework they dread. When he’s not tutoring or coding, Matt is building side projects, apps and websites, geeking out over the latest in AI, cheering on the Gators on Saturdays and the Dolphins on Sundays, and spending time with friends, family and his dog, Sid, who loves cuddling and playing fetch.

Jose M.

Jose was born in Venezuela and has lived in the United States since he was 11 years old. He was a Division I tennis student-athlete throughout college, where he earned his degree in Health Science with a pre-medical track. After college, he completed a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences before attending medical school in New York. He is currently completing a Pediatrics residency and has developed a strong passion for teaching and mentoring students.

As a former student-athlete and someone who has gone through the rigorous pre-medical and medical school pathways, he understands the challenges students face academically and the importance of finding effective study strategies. He enjoy helping students build confidence, strengthen their understanding of challenging concepts, and develop skills that they can carry throughout their academic journey.

Lauren L.

I am certified in Early Childhood Education and have been teaching in-person and online for nearly 10 years. I also have my Masters in Education and am a licensed Educational Therapist. This allows me the special skills to help students with ADHD, Dyslexia, and other learning disabilities.

Jessica L.

Jessica is a lifelong educator, mentor, and lifelong learner whose roots run deep in Miami. Born and raised on Miami Beach, she attended Lehrman Day School and Miami Beach Senior High School, experiences that helped shape her lifelong connection to education and the South Florida community. She went on to graduate from Florida International University with a degree in English Literature and later earned a Master’s degree in Education. With more than 30 years in education, Jessica has built an extensive career dedicated to helping students discover their potential, strengthen their skills, and achieve their goals. Her experience spans virtually every level of education, from elementary and middle school students to high school and college-bound learners. Throughout her career, she has taught and supported students in Regular, Honors, Gifted, Advanced Placement (AP), CAPSTONE, International Baccalaureate (IB), and Cambridge programs, as well as providing SAT and ACT preparation. Beyond classroom instruction, Jessica has extensive experience in tutoring, academic coaching, college counseling, curriculum development, and individualized academic support. She is especially gifted at helping students develop the practical skills they need to succeed academically and independently. A strong believer that organization is a skill that can transform every area of life, Jessica teaches students strategies for time management, organization, planning, studying, and goal setting that extend far beyond the classroom. Her approach focuses not simply on helping students succeed today, but on giving them tools they can carry with them throughout college, their careers, and life. She has worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities, tailoring instruction to meet their individual needs while helping them develop confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning. Her passion for English, literature, writing, journalism, and education continues to influence her work both inside and outside the classroom. After more than three decades in education, Jessica remains committed to the belief that every student has the ability to succeed when given the right guidance, encouragement, and opportunity. She also believes that almost any academic crisis can be improved with a good plan, a well-organized calendar, and, when necessary, a healthy supply of coffee. For Jessica, helping students find their path and occasionally helping them find the assignment they were absolutely certain they had already submitted is one of the most rewarding parts of being an educator.

Christophe G.

My name is Christophe. I have a double master in General Chemistry (Université Pierre et Marie Curie) and Chemical Engineering (Chimie-Paris), and a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from Cornell University. I was a lecturer at Cornell University for two years before starting a career in chemical research in the Fragrance and Flavor industry. I am the author of multiple peer-reviewed articles and patents and I have likely designed many consumer products that you are using in your everyday life. In 2023, I moved to Miami and I decided to go back to teaching. I am currently an adjunct professor at Miami-Dade College, where I teach freshman chemistry, and a high school teacher at the True North Classical Academy, where I teach AP Chemistry and AP Physics. I am an AP reader for AP Chemistry and an AP consultant for Collegeboard.

My passion for chemistry is contagious and I captivate my students into the subject. Thanks to my extensive background I can illustrate chemical principles with multiple examples from our everyday life. To stamp knowledge on a concept, I can easily improvise some quick exercises that complement a student’s homework. I like to teach science in a logical and systematic manner. I am more interested in a student’s understanding of the process to find the correct answer than the answer itself. I am looking forward to working wit you and your student to bring them back on track and eventually excel.

Danielle G.

Danielle is a dedicated educator with over 17 years of experience in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, certified in Elementary Education and English 6-12. She currently serves as Student Activities Director at Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High School and teaches a dual enrollment Critical Thinking course through Miami-Dade College as part of the school’s Sharks Scholars program. Danielle holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Education from Florida International University, and has taught AP Literature and AP Art History in addition to her work in gifted and dual enrollment programming. She has a particular talent for college essay writing, helping students find and sharpen their own voice on the page; a skill that comes directly from years of teaching high-level literature and critical thinking courses. Danielle believes real learning happens when a student feels seen, supported, and genuinely challenged, and she brings that same energy to every lesson she teaches. Outside the classroom, Danielle is mom to three incredible young men and is a self-proclaimed workout fanatic who loves nothing more than an intense training session.

Dr. Juan S. graduated from the Nova Southeastern University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. He completed a Masters and Doctorate in Education from the University of Florida. He completed his teaching internship in Houston, where he taught in a Grade 6 class. He has worked as a teacher, instructional coach, and as an Assistant Principal and Principal. In 2026, he jumped at the opportunity to offer tutoring to students that need additional assistance. He enjoys working with kids and expanding their horizons. In his spare time he likes to travel, play racquetball, and spend time with his family.

Yasmin L.

Yasmin is an experienced educator, academic tutor, College Board speaker, and AP exam reader with a multidisciplinary background in psychology, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, educational leadership, and physical therapy. She has taught Anatomy and Physiology, AP Psychology, AP Research, English Language Arts, social studies, Latin, Comprehensive Science and college-level writing.

Yasmin specializes in helping students strengthen their critical-thinking, reading, writing, research, and test-taking skills. Her teaching approach is structured, supportive, and individualized. She identifies each student’s specific challenges and explains complex concepts in clear, accessible ways. She is especially skilled at working with students who need greater confidence, organization, or an approach tailored to how they learn.

With extensive experience in classroom instruction, standardized-test preparation, and one-on-one tutoring, Yasmin helps students understand the material instead of relying solely on memorization. Her goal is to provide students with practical strategies that improve immediate academic performance while building long-term confidence and independence as learners.
