SOHUM V.
Sohum graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Sohum has a Post-Graduate Certificate specializing in autism and behavioral science from Seneca College. Her studies covered Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), intervention methods including Intensive Behavioural Analysis (IBI), Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Verbal Behaviour Therapy (VBT) theory working with families and treatment teams. Sohum is currently a Junior/Intermediate teacher candidate in the Masters of Teaching program at the University of Toronto. Her educational experiences have given her the confidence and perseverance required in this progressive field of education. Her goal as a teacher is to create meaningful relationships with her students which promote inclusiveness, diversity, responsibility and cooperation. Sohum has three years of teaching experience working in an educational assistant at Milliken Mills High School and in her practicums in the Toronto District School Board where she fosters engaging and interactive lessons. In her spare time Sohum enjoys hiking, swimming, badminton, playing board games and as well spending time with her friends and family.
MINA D.
Mina Dahesh graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts in French Studies and Graphic Design. She has tutored locally and taught ESL and FSL internationally for over 4 years to students of all ages. In September 2018, she began her studies in OISE’s (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) Master of Teaching program in the Junior/Intermediate levels. Mina absolutely loves traveling, immersing herself in a new country and new culture, and most importantly, teaching! Through these experiences, in Canada and abroad, Mina has developed a strong interest in working with youth and helping them discover their strengths.
When she is not in the classroom, Mina also tutors students where she uses her creativity to make learning fun. Mina truly believes that connecting with students is crucial in helping them feel motivated to achieve their academic goals. In her spare time, Mina enjoys going to the gym, playing volleyball and singing.
ANDREW P.
Andrew Plessas is an OCT Certified Teacher who graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from York University and a Bachelor of Education from UOIT in Intermediate and Senior levels. He later took Additional Qualification courses in Primary and Junior Education, allowing him to teach students of all grade levels. He is a passionate TDSB High School Teacher with a specialist in Biology and is currently teaching Science at Leaside High School. For over 15 years he has dedicated his time to working with youth, in camps, tutoring, volunteering in schools and teaching in private schools and with TDSB. He has worked with a diverse set of students who were behavioural, ESL and special needs students, who were autistic, nonverbal, and had ADHD, as well as Down syndrome, and has developed a keen ability to identify students strengths and weaknesses and work with their unique needs in order to create an individualized plan to help them succeed. He believes that with dedication and the right support all students can succeed.
JACQUELINE R.
Jacqueline recently graduated with a Master of Teaching degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto with qualifications in Primary/Junior. Her research focus was on the impact technology has on developing students’ critical thinking skills, specifically in the area of literacy. Additionally, in October of 2019, she received a certificate of completion in the Master of Teaching Digital Day at OISE. She also successfully completed the Primary/Junior Math Part One Additional Qualification course with OISE. She is an adaptive, reflective and organized teacher with a strong work ethic who cares deeply about the needs of all students. With several years’ experience in education under her belt, she is looking to make an impact in the development of children’s education.
Jacqueline’s specialty is literacy, math, science and technology. She has worked closely with teachers to improve students’ reading and writing skills by facilitating literacy circles, one-on-one reading sessions, as well as incorporating visual and digital learning tools in the classroom to aid in key learning concepts. She has worked with remedial math programs to help kids focus on big ideas and teach explicit strategies in mathematics.
Jacqueline’s schooling undergraduate education in media and communications has also taken her to Belgium where she not only immersed herself in Belgian culture but travelled all over Europe. She loves to experience new cultures and constantly has a case of the “travel bug”. She has set off to places including Australia, the Caribbean, and many parts of the U.S. and Canada. During her leisure time, Jacqueline loves to dance and can be seen taking jazz funk classes at her favourite studio in downtown Toronto.
Monique G.
Monique Gargiulo is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She grew up in Toronto Ontario where she completed an Undergraduate Degree. Monique graduated from York University with an International Bachelor Degree in Liberal Arts and Professional Studies in English and Italian Studies with Honours. Ever since she was a little girl Monique knew she wanted to be a teacher, she decided to pursue teaching as a career and completed a Bachelor of Education at Niagara University in the Intermediate/Senior grade levels. She then continued her studies and went on to complete additional qualifications for Primary/Junior grade levels and a specialization in Special Education. Soon after graduation, Monique was hired by the York Catholic District School Board where she continues to work today. Monique believes that engaging students using their curiosity and interests is crucial in helping them gain the confidence they require to succeed. Monique believes that by building a strong relationship with her students she is better able to meet their needs and ensure they are successful. As a teacher Monique continues to develop strategies for working with children and young adults. She has a passion for helping others and enjoys all of her teaching experiences because they are unique and rewarding in their own way.
Monique grew up with a deep love of travel and adventure and took the opportunity to work abroad at the Canadian School of Milan for a year. This was an incredible experience as it allowed Monique to immerse into a different culture and teach a wide multitude of students. It is through teaching that Monique has been able to foster her love of Health and Fitness. During the summer months, Monique taught Zumba and nutrition at a fitness camp at UCSD in San Diego, California. She got to work with children from 8-16 and helped them to reach their full potential and fitness goals. Together they hiked, learned how to surf, and enjoyed bonfires on the beach. In her spare time Monique is the captain of a volleyball league and is very passionate about the sport. Monique also enjoys cooking and baking, as well as spending time with her friends and family.
Kasia K.
Kasia has a long-standing commitment and avid interest in supporting individuals’ learning through practical, research-based, and enjoyable activities. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology (with a Minor in Philosophy) from the University of Toronto, and her Master of Arts in Child Study and Education from the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (OISE). She is an Ontario Certified Teacher with qualifications in Special Education. Kasia has been a Researcher and Consultant for the OISE affiliated Balanced Literacy Diet, as well as a lesson creator for JUMP Math, and understands best practices in both literacy and mathematics. Kasia is also currently the Director of a literacy program that provides Professional Development to primary teachers, which focuses on fostering literacy by supporting oral language. She is a resourceful, conscientious, and reliable tutor, with a wealth of experience ranging from helping adults pass professional standardized tests to children facing serious learning challenges. In her one-on-one sessions, she aims to find the most effective strategies that nourish the skills that need the most attention. She offers a balanced approach that integrates skill development and critical thinking, so that students feel confident in their particular tasks as well as equipped for future challenges.
SAMMY P.
Sammy is a good standing certified member of the Ontario College of Teacher. He graduated Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Teacher Education at Don Mariano Marcos State University, The Philippines. He completed Additional Qualifications in Visual Art at York University and Special Ed and Social Science at Queen’s University.
In the early years of teaching, he organized a scrabble club and visual art club. His team won more than 10 gold and 5 silver medals in the inter-school competitions in poster-making-contest, including essay-writing-contest and mural painting and scrabble.
Sammy is a member the non-profit Philippine Teachers Association of Canada. He had served the community in the recruitment, and coordination in several events.
With his over 9 years of teaching with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic DSB as LTO, Sammy has a broad experience in the classroom management and teaching students from all walks of life. One of his most enjoyable experiences is helping his students sharpen their writing skills and write really great sentences, paragraphs, and essays. Sammy also have great knowledge in the Social Studies and Environmental Science. He had seen a lot of talents and promises in the next generation.
Outside the classroom, Sammy plays baseball, basketball and badminton. At his free time, he enjoys painting and drawing. Every single weekends, he loves to travel in the country sides. He had gone to Hong Kong, Hawaii, Taipie, Thai Land and Singapore.
At home, he is great in cooking Italian, Chinese Korean, Japanese and Filipino foods.
MICHELLE P.
My name is Michelle Prioriello. As a Teacher Candidate in Math, Biology and General Science, I am beyond joyed to share my passion for the mathematics, the sciences, and learning.
I have always had a keen and passionate interest for teaching and building relationships with students – qualities in which make learning interesting and engaging. My approachable personality, excellent interpersonal skills and ambitious leadership qualities are attributes that make me a desirable tutor to meet your needs.
My current teaching experiences at the intermediate and senior levels as well as my previous tutoring experiences provides me with the background needed to be an excellent tutor. My coaching skills as a current dance instructor and my previous teaching assistant positions have strengthened my personal attributes such as patience, time management and organization. Lastly, my previous graduate studies at York University have provided me with the scientific background needed to assist my students with their scientific and personal needs.

HUMA H.
Huma received her undergraduate degree in English from Queen’s University in 2009 and her Bachelor of Education from Trent University in 2015. She has received additional qualifications in teaching English Language Learners and Kindergarten. Huma has delivered goal-oriented curriculum lessons in classrooms from Kindergarten to grade 6; she has taught digital literacy through game design; and, she has sensitized her students to the magic in their lives through science and art programs. Huma believes in a holistic approach to education: only through focusing on the whole child can we ignite students’ passions and natural abilities. Huma’s lessons will take your child on adventures through uncharted lands, form friendships, learn life-lessons, and feel unmatched freedom—all through the pages of treasured books.
SAMUEL P.
Sam graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in 2014. While he was there, he majored in both Dramatic Arts and Geography, and later moved on to complete his Bachelor of Education at OISE in May of 2015. He is an Ontario Certified Teacher, qualifying him to teach all subjects at an intermediate level. He has experience teaching English, History, Science, Religion, Special Education, Business Marketing, Geography, and Civics/Careers. Sam has experience working as an Academic Coach, helping students to fine tune how to better stay organized, improving test taking strategies and their personal at home study skills.
In the beginning of 2020, Sam set out to complete his Junior Basic Qualification, certifying him to teach Grades 4-10, while further developing his knowledge of students learning in Special Education by completing the second of three qualifying degrees in that field of expertise.
Sam has been teaching Dance, Drama, Geography and Special Education at a public secondary school in Toronto. When he isn’t teaching, Sam can be found singing along at a concert, exercising with friends, or planning his next travel destination.
