ALICE D.

Alice is a teacher candidate in her final year at the University of Toronto. She will be a high school science teacher specializing in biology and general science, and will also be teaching social sciences. She completed a Bachelor of Science degree specializing in Biology at the University of Ottawa but had a wide range of interests and took a variety of courses including math, physics, chemistry, psychology, anthropology and history. In addition to academics, she is an RCM certified piano instructor and has worked as a certified ski instructor. Alice believes that learning is most successful when a teacher explores and draws upon the students’ interest. She believes that it is also essential to make learning fun and to tie the content to everyday life making it meaningful and applicable for the student. In addition to teaching and learning, she enjoys, reading, waterpolo, crocheting and music.

Gabrielle R.

Gabrielle is a passionate educator who enjoys teaching students of all ages. She holds a Bachelor of Education with minors in Contemporary Arts, Sociology and Curriculum and Instruction (Joint Honours First Class with Distinction), along with a K-12 teaching certification. In addition to academic teaching, Gabrielle has taught dance for many years. She has also trained in dance and performed professionally across Canada, the United States and Europe. While dancing with a ballet company in Geneva, Switzerland, Gabrielle worked in a French-speaking environment for six months. This experience enhanced her French language skills, which she developed as a student at Brown Public School and The Bishop Strachan School. Gabrielle is grateful to be a Prep Academy Tutor!

Sabrina S.

Sabrina is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She grew up in North Bay, Ontario and moved to Toronto to complete her Undergraduate Degree in History at York University. She decided to pursue teaching as a career after taking a course in Athens, Greece where she met some local English teachers. She knew she could make a difference anywhere in the world. Sabrina completed a Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University. Growing up in Northern Ontario, Sabrina loves the outdoors and being in nature. Sabrina enjoys merging Environmental Education with the Ontario curriculums whenever possible because she believes fresh air and staying active contribute to successful learning. Over the last few years, she has developed a love for travel and has gained experience teaching and working with children in the United States and Spain. Every trip Sabrina takes is part of her ongoing learning journey that transfers into her teaching. Sabrina’s passion for History and her curiosity for Math carries through into her teaching as well. Sabrina understands that all students learn in unique ways, and she enjoys discovering how her students learn best. She finds helping students discover their full potential fun and fulfilling.

James F.

James is an Ontario Certified teacher. He grew up in Toronto, getting a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and working as an Early Childhood Educator for over 6 years. As an Early Childhood Educator James created lesson plans, performed assessments for learning and worked with schools to better advance the students learning while in childcare. After working as an ECE, James went to York University and got his Undergraduate Degree in Communications; leading to a job as the Communications Manager at Ondas FM. While working during the pandemic James felt like teaching was his main purpose and is now in his final year of Teachers College at York University. He has worked as a Teaching Candidate for a Kindergarten class as well as a tutor for Elementary School students over the last year supporting students in their reading, writing, vocabulary as well as math skills. James has a passion in creative writing and brings in his background in Communications and Early Childhood Education while teaching and tutoring students.

Nicole C.

Nicole Camilleri is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She grew up in Mississauga, moving to Hamilton to complete an Undergraduate Degree in Early Childhood Leadership. She also has a diploma in Early Childhood Education and Educational Assistance. Nicole received her Bachelor of Education from Brock University. Nicole grew up with a deep love of soccer, travel and all things nature and outdoors. Before completing her Bachelor of Education Nicole worked for Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board as an Early Childhood Educator, where she was intrigued by the child’s mind and furthered her studies becoming an Educational Assistant and working with high needs students on the autism spectrum. It was during her time working with special needs students that she discovered her patience, passion for teaching and her desire to work with children on a higher level. When she decided to pursue teaching as a career Nicole moved to London and is now teaching with the London District Catholic School Board. It is through teaching that Nicole has been able to foster her love of the mind with a focus on mental health/well being and language/ literacy. During the summer months, Nicole runs a Soccer Camp that encourages children to learn about themselves through interactive and hands-on experiences, promoting social growth and physical activity. In her spare time Nicole works one-on-one with children ranging from 6 years through middle school. She has supported the improvement of their reading, writing, vocabulary and math skills in these initiatives. Nicole believes that by building a strong relationship with her students she is better able to meet their needs and grow their learning. As a mentor Nicole continues to develop strategies for working with children. She finds these experiences enjoyable and extremely rewarding.

Daniel

Daniel earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and has been teaching with the Halton District School Board since 2016. He graduated with an Honours Specialist in French and a minor in Economics. He enjoys the great Canadian outdoors by going camping and skiing every year. He is very knowledgeable in history and geopolitics. He has served on multiple deployments overseas with the Canadian Armed Forces.

Tania G.

Tania G. is a Canadian- Chilean Certified Teacher. She was born in Edmonton, Alberta and lived there for 15 years then moved to Chile to complete her Bachelors Degree in Education and Masters Degree in Leadership and Administration in Educational Management . Tania grew up with a deep love of traveling throughout South America and moreover she earned an educational internship which gave her an enriching opportunity to explore Columbia and learn from its educational system and incredible culture. It was during her studies in that Tania discovered her passion for teaching and working with students. During the summer months, Tania works at a Global Leadership Camp for international students who want to improve their communicative, teamwork and leadership skills. In her spare time Tania works one-on-one with children ranging from 10 years through high school. She has supported the improvement of their reading, writing, and vocabulary skills. Tania believes that by building a strong relationship with her students she is capable to meet their needs and increase their self confidence. In her free time, Tania loves to work out, go to festivals or watch a cool movie with her son.

Gurnish S.

Gurnish is a Biomedical Engineering Graduate student at University of Toronto. She completed her Undergraduate Degree in Medical Physics at Western University in London, ON. During her time at Western, Gurnish worked with Frontier College as a tutor for elementary, and secondary school students helping them with math and sciences. Gurnish has also worked as a Physics Learning Coach where she integrated the course curriculum with valuable learning skills. As a tutor and mentor, Gurnish strongly believes in the power of appreciate advising, where we work together to optimize the student’s educational experience and goals. In her spare time, Gurnish enjoys reading, playing trombone and martial arts.

Stephanie I.

Stephanie is an Ontario Certified Teacher qualified to teach Junior and Intermediate grades. Stephanie has a Kinesiology degree from Western University and a Physical Education Specialist Bachelor of Education degree from The University of Maine. She has worked in the TDSB for 25 years, with a focus on middle school learners, and as a school-based math coach. Stephanie has successfully taught all subjects in grades 6,7, and 8. She has held roles as STEM instructor, EQAO math marker, and held various positions of responsibility (grade team leader) within her school. Stephanie is currently the head of Physical Education in a TDSB middle school.
Stephanie lives in the GTA area with her husband and teenage daughter. Outside of teaching, Stephanie enjoys coaching and playing various sports, dancing, and socializing with friends.

David C.

David is an Ontario Certified Teacher with over 8 years tutoring and teaching experience in both private and public schools. He has been a fulltime elementary teacher in both Canada and England, having started his career as a teaching assistant specialising in nurturing students with additional support needs. During his career, he has been responsible for delivering all curriculum subjects to children from kindergarten to grade 6. His students consistently record upward trends in their internal testing averages, and he has helped children to secure places at some of the leading high schools across London, England. David loves working with students who struggle with learning and those who want to extend themselves beyond their current grade level. His teaching utilizes a wide variety of technology, with regular integration of hands-on activities, fun manipulatives and learning projects to inspire and motivate the students. In his spare time, David enjoys swimming and writing children’s literature – his first picture book is due to be published next year.
