GABRIELA G.

Gabriela is a graduate from the Master of Teaching program at the University of Toronto – OISE, in the primary/junior/intermediate divisions. She holds a certification as an Early Childhood Educator. Gabriela is also fluent in reading, writing and speaking Spanish. Gabriela has experience teaching all subject areas and has volunteered in elementary school classrooms. During her time at the University of Toronto, she focused her research on different types of supports that can be provided for students with ADHD, within the school system. As such, she understands that students have different needs, and as teachers, their primary job is to support students’ individual learning needs. She believes students have an extensive range of abilities and are capable of achieving anything and everything they put their minds on, with the correct guidance and support. In her spare time, Gabriela enjoys being around nature, hiking, running, training and spending time with family and friends.

SABILA H.

 

Sabila graduated from Western University with a major in Financial Modelling. She has several years of experience tutoring students in Math and English. Sabila is passionate about teaching and working with students. She strives to make a positive impact on students by using various learning strategies in order to better help them understand concepts and solve problems.

LISA F.

Lisa is an Ontario Certified Teacher who is qualified to teach K-12. She attended Brock University where she completed the Concurrent Education Program and received both her B.A with a minor in French and Geography as well as her B.Ed. She proceed to complete her Masters of Education at Brock in 2015 with a focus on Leadership and Administration. Lisa has been teaching for approximately 8 years and enjoys helping children learn and understand fundamental skills required to be successful in education and life. She likes to make learning relatable and meaningful by connecting the concepts to hobbies and interests that the child enjoys.

Lisa strives to be a source of positivity and aims to motivate her students to always try their best and work as hard as possible to achieve all of their dreams and goals. She hopes to encourage a passion for life-long learning and to provide students with the tools and confidence they need to be successful in all they do.

In addition to her commitment to her students and education, Lisa enjoys reading books, watching films and tv shows, and going on long walks with her two dogs, Luna and Diesel. She is very passionate about her “furry children” and enjoys finding new trails and places to explore with them. She loves music, art, museums, and historical areas and looks to continue to broaden her knowledge in these areas.

ASHA T.

Asha is a kind and passionate teacher who believes that every child brings their own brand of genius to the table. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor’s degree in Science and attended University of Windsor after for Teacher’s college. She also has additional qualifications in Special Education and Teaching English Language Learners.
Asha has experience teaching students across various age groups and strongly believes in differentiating the lesson to fit the needs of her students. She believes that every child is capable of reaching their full potential with a little encouragement and support along the way. She loves getting students to engage in the material through the use of a variety of activities. Aside from teaching, Asha loves reading, exploring new food spots and trails, and spending time with her friends and family.

 

Satwinder O.

Satwinder is an Ontario Certified Teacher, holding a Bachelor of Science degree, followed by a Bachelor of Education, specializing in the Primary/Junior grade levels. Additionally, Satwinder has taken an Additional Qualification in Special Education, Reading and Environmental science and consistently participates in educational workshops to further her knowledge.
Satwinder currently works as a permanent teacher with Peel District School Board with an extensive 15 years of experience in teaching children and adult’s from several cultural communities. She also has exemplary communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Satwinder has been the coordinator for the Summer Literacy Camp for ten years which is hosted by Council of Directors of Ontario, where she coordinated the day-to-day program implementation by supporting staff to determine the best possible strategies to ensure high quality and engaging literacy and numeracy programs, recreational activities, collection of research data and overall well being of the students.
Satwinder believes that every student is a unique force with an abundance of talent. Her challenge as an educator is to provide learning opportunities that engage, challenge and empower students in realizing their highest potential. Satwinder is passionate about working with children and helping them gain the confidence they need to succeed. Satwinder ensures to do her best to support her students to help them reach their full potential. She believes in the value of fostering meaningful relationships with her students while creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
In her spare time, she enjoys dancing, making arts and crafts, and spending time with friends and family.

AZHAR H.

Azhar is a graduate of the University of Waterloo with an Engineering degree in Mechatronics.  Azhar has been working with Prep Academy for the past 3 years and he has extensive experience tutoring students and a keen interest in mathematics and science.  Azhar believes that patience and enthusiasm are extremely important in helping a student learn.

AYESHA M.

Ayesha is an enthusiastic second year Systems Design Engineering and Physics student at the University of Waterloo with 5+ years of experience in teaching math and physics to students from Grades 1-12 with various learning abilities. As a tutor, Ayesha believes that any student can achieve academic success when provided with the proper materials and support that is catered towards their learning style.

SHABNAM S.

Shabnam is a theoretical physicist with a PhD from Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, Italy. She has worked as a researcher in different universities and countries. Before moving to Toronto, she lived in Singapore for more than six years and worked as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Quantum Technologies. She has taught undergrad students at universities such as Bilkent University, National University of Singapore and Yale-NUS college. In early 2019 she transitioned from academia to entrepreneurship. Currently she is a Co-Founder and Director of a start-up in Toronto.

In addition to her teaching experience at university level, she was a Math and Physics tutor right after finishing her high school until she became a PhD student. She has her way of simplifying scientific subjects for students to help them learn gradually and develop their logical thinking and problem solving abilities. Even in her entrepreneurial role she enjoys working with the interns a lot.

Shabnam has travelled to several countries and has friends from many different nationalities. Canada is the fifth country that she lives in. In her free time she enjoys cooking, exercising and dancing. When music plays she cannot stand still.

ALAN L.

Alan is a retired elementary teacher with 26 years of classroom teaching experience. Alan attained his BA with a Fine Art Major in 1987 from the University of Guelph and in 1990 received his B Ed from the University of Toronto. He is a father of three grown children and lives with his wife of 33 years in Mississauga. He is able to teach all subjects in the Ontario curriculum and has a wide range of knowledge and instructional strategies that he has developed over the years. He is able to utilize on line platforms for distance learning. His hobbies include golf, crossword puzzles, playing the piano and cooking.

MEENU G.

Meenu has over ten years of tutoring and teaching experience mathematics to university, college and high school students. She possesses a Master’s degree in Mathematics, Bachelor’s degree with Physics, Chemistry and Math as major and Ontario College of teacher’s certification for senior Mathematics. She holds great knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum in the science and mathematics areas as she has been a summer school teacher and a tutor at many post-secondary schools in Toronto. She is a flexible and organized professional with an unparalleled ability to explain complicated concepts in an easily understandable manner. Her one-to-one tutoring strategy prepare student ahead of class so that student feel confident and encouraged to participate actively in classroom discussion. Her experience allows her to carefully select questions, where most students make common mistakes, preparing them for possible evaluation questions. Through her teaching and mentoring experience at Pathways to Education, she is exposed to students of many different backgrounds, and has developed the ability to build a personal connection with them.

She loves spending time with her family and cooking. As a mother of two, she strongly believes that every child has ability to succeed through encouragement and support to further their education.
