Elena S.
Elena Soda has graduated with Honours from Niagara University and specializes in Primary Junior Education, with additional experience in the intermediate grades. Elena’s greatest passion in life is teaching, and she has experienced great success at school and at university due to amazing and unforgettable teachers. This is the foundation of Elena’s commitment to helping out her students, whatever their abilities may be. Elena is interested in continuing her educational journey and studying a masters degree specializing in teaching elementary students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Elena has been teaching for more than 9 years in various settings – small and large groups, and teaching within Early Learning Classrooms, Primary Junior Classrooms, and Special Needs Classrooms. Elena looks forward to teaching and learning alongside your children.
Devansh B.
Devansh has a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Toronto (2021). Devansh specialized in Aerospace engineering with a strong background in Mathematics and Science. He has been teaching Science and Mathematics to kids from Grade 9 to Grade 12. Interestingly, Devansh has also taught English to kids in Taiwan (2018).
Devansh enjoys playing sports and going on hiking adventures apart from his passion for teaching.
Barbara A.
Barbara, B. A., M.A., and PhD candidate, is a former classroom teacher and special education teacher with experience ranging from kindergarten to high school; Associate Teacher at the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education; and Adjunct Professor and Instructor for undergraduate courses as at both private and public universities in the United States. Barbara has been active in presenting workshops both locally and internationally and writing for educational journals. Barbara has taught all subjects in the primary and junior divisions, and English and Social Studies at the intermediate and secondary levels of education. With a teaching background in regular, contained, gifted and special education programs, Barbara integrates curricula to provide an enriching, inquiry-based learning program for students. She is committed to providing learning activities that addresses different student needs. As an experienced educator with more than 25 years of international teaching, Barbara is particularly focused on the nature and needs of twice-exceptional learners (those with dual exceptionalities such as learning disability + giftedness and autism + giftedness). Barbara volunteers as a Teacher Mentor for new teachers to the profession and she volunteers her expertise to special and gifted education parent advocacy organizations. Barbara lives in the GTA with her husband and children and is honored to hear from former students, their parents and mentees who keep in touch to share their accomplishments. Barbara enjoys hiking trails, gourmet cooking and family game night.
Kirsten E.
Kirsten has been a teacher with the York Region District School Board since 2014. She is qualified in the primary, junior, and intermediate divisions and has a specialist in Mathematics and Health and Physical Education. Kirsten has always had a passion for the arts, specifically dance, starting from a young age then eventually being accepted into the Arts York Dance Program at Unionville High School, then the Varsity Dance Pack at The University of Western Ontario. Teaching has always been a part of Kirsten’s life growing up in a family of educators and administrators, and she too has future goals of becoming a leader in today’s education system. Kirsten currently teaches grade 7/8 in Aurora, she is the lead teacher of the Intermediate Student Council at her school, and continues to enjoy finding new ways of delivering the Ontario Curriculum to her students.
Sally B.
Sally graduated from Princeton University with honours, where she studied English Literature with a minor in Global Health & Health Policy. She subsequently pursued pre-medical sciences training at Columbia University, before obtaining a Master of Philosophy in Health, Medicine, and Society at the University of Cambridge. She lives between Cambridge (UK) and Toronto, where she works with students & families as a private tutor and admissions consultant.
Tristan P.
Tristan completed his Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and obtained his Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto. He has taught at a variety of schools in Toronto, including the University of Toronto Schools and St. Clement’s School. He has even taught overseas in an international school in China! Tristan is passionate at helping students achieve success, whatever their definition of success may be.
Gureet K.
Gureet is a certified Ontario teacher with about 8 years of teaching experience (both in the professional and volunteer sections). She completed her Honours Bachelor of Science at Glendon Campus, York University in 2019, double majoring in Biology and Political Science. She completed her Bachelor of Education at York University in 2021 and expanded her knowledge of teaching throughout the summer of 2021 in Special Education and Mathematics, Grades 7 & 8. Moreover, Gureet has attained certificates in other post-secondary institutions regarding teaching and inclusion at University of Toronto and Harvard University (online). She has always wanted to become a teacher since she was 5 years old, and she continues to expand in her experiences and be open-minded in supporting students that need it the most, as well as creating a positive learning experience for all students.
Filip M.
Filip recently graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University with a Master’s in Digital Media while also completing a Bachelor of Technology degree at the same institution. He has been tutoring at Prep Academy Tutors since 2021 with plans on continuing his studies in Education, as he aspires to become a teacher or a professor in the near future. Being bilingual, he is proficient in French and speaks the language fluently from a young age. In addition, he is a certified swimming instructor and lifeguard, having taught students from ages 6-18 for many years. Being an instructor has given Filip the experience to teach large groups of students as well as one-on-one private lessons. Furthermore, he is very passionate for graphic design and is highly skilled in Adobe programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator. While tutoring, he aims to teach engaging and productive lessons to his students while giving them the proper guidance to remain motivated and successful in school. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer and tennis, travelling the world and drawing.
Kennedy W.
Kennedy is a full time teacher at an IB Private Academy in North York. She has spent the past two years teaching primary school in London, England. Before moving to England, Kennedy studied drama and music at Queen’s University, where she also acquired her bachelor of education. By living and working in England, Kennedy was able to fuel her love of travel and curiosity of the world around us. In addition to travel, Kennedy also enjoys golf and performing in musical theatre – but her main passion has always been education and teaching.
A learning environment needs to be supportive, safe, challenging and of course fun. Kennedy’s approach to learning focuses on the whole student. She believes that a well-rounded education that touches on student well-being ultimately strengthens their ability to become successful global citizens. She understands the importance of empowering students now in order for them to be successful in tomorrow’s world.
Growing up, Kennedy set high expectations for herself as a learner, and she can support students by promoting successful time-management skills and she will work with the student to discover their own style of learning. She is looking forward to form a positive rapport with her students to help them grow in their academics and academic confidence!
Yara S.
Yara is an Ontario Certified Teacher for Kindergarten to Grade 6, with a Masters degree in Child Study and Education from the University of Toronto OISE. She has completed additional qualifications in Special Education and teaching English Language Learners, and has worked as a Senior Kindergarten teacher at an independent school. In addition to her teaching credentials, Yara completed a Bachelor of Arts and Science at McGill University, and an Ontario Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Education- Advanced Studies in Special Needs at Humber College. Prior to her career in education, Yara worked with children and young people with disabilities in educational, therapeutic, and recreational settings, both in Toronto and abroad, and brings this professional knowledge, as well as years of tutoring experience, to her teaching practice. Yara has a passion for accessible education and strives to empower all children to achieve their potential by creating positive, secure, and fun learning environments. Outside the classroom, Yara enjoys cooking, reading in parks, and singing along to any and all musical theatre songs!
