Bianca B.

Bianca is a third year Concurrent Education student majoring in mathematics at Queen’s University, Kingston where she has been on the Dean’s Honour List for three consecutive years. In 2022, she graduated high school from Bayview Glen Independent School with recognition and awards in French. During her time at Bayview Glen, she tutored many individuals in math as well as the French language. She broke down topics which made it easier for the students to understand. Her teaching journey includes a shadow experience at Bayview Glen Independent School and a current practicum at Annunciation Catholic School, where she supports small group learning, helps with lessons, and assists in day-to-day classroom routines.

Bianca is extremely determined and passionate about helping students succeed. Having struggled with math herself, she understands how frustrating it can be to have trouble grasping a concept—and she knows what it takes to overcome those challenges. She believes that success comes from asking multiple questions, practicing consistently, and not giving up on yourself. For her, repetition and determination are the key ingredients to real progress and confidence in math.

During her free time, Bianca enjoys reading, listening to music and playing basketball.

Shin Hwa L.

Shin Hwa is a graduate of University of Toronto OISE. She has OCT qualification with the Primary/Junior division and RECE from College of Early Childhood Educators. She has multiple experiences in teaching students from different ages and had experience in the classroom.

Shin Hwa’s teaching philosophy revolves around inclusion and equity where all students should have the right to learn. Her strategies helped students to think and reflect about their learnings by applying connections.

Shin Hwa was born in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea. She moved to British Columbia at an early age where she relocated to Ontario to further pursue her studies.

Holly J.

Holly is a friendly and professional tutor, eager to make learning fun for all students. Holly received her undergraduate degree(s) in Psychology and Thanatology from The University of Western Ontario and her Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University. She is qualified to teach primary, junior, and intermediate grades, across all subjects.

Emma L.

Emma has a an Honours Bachelors of Arts degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Master’s degree in Teaching from University of Toronto. Emma is OCT Certified and has experience teaching both in and out of the classroom. She is qualified to teach any subjects from kindergarten up to grade 6.

Emma is passionate about student advocacy and teaching students how they learn best. She was tutored as a child, and this experience has motivated her to become an educator herself. Emma strives to create an enjoyable learning environment by bringing student interests into schooling. Her dedication to social-emotional learning provides a holistic approach teaching, paying close attention to students emotions throughout instructional time.

During her spare time, Emma loves to journal, paint, make bracelets, and try different walking trails around Toronto.

Michelle H.

Michelle is a teacher candidate at Queen’s University in the Concurrent Education program, working toward her Bachelor of Education (Intermediate/Senior) and Honours Bachelor of Science in Physics and Biology. She has completed student teaching placements in both Montessori and high school classrooms and has experience creating/teaching lesson plans and classroom management for students aged 5-14 through her work as a summer camp teacher.

A lifelong educator and learner at heart, she has been tutoring since high school, where she tutored peers through the homework club and founded an origami club to teach origami to others.

Matei D-D.

Matei has a Master’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from the university of Western Ontario. He has three years of experience working as a teaching assistant at the University of Western Ontario, running labs and tutorials, as well as holding office hours to explain concepts and field questions from students. In his spare time, Matei enjoys fencing, occasionally attending competitions.

Maya B.

Maya holds a Master of Teaching from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph. With a strong foundation in education, Maya has experience teaching all subjects at the Grade 1-5 levels. Before pursuing graduate studies, they worked in Early Childhood Education for two years, developing a deep understanding of foundational learning and child development.

As an educator, Maya is committed to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment where students feel supported in their academic and personal growth. They believe in fostering a student-centered classroom that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning.

Beyond teaching, Maya enjoys knitting, yoga, baking, and traveling!

Reena S.

Reena is working towards a Double Honours degree in English and Creative Writing at the University of Toronto. Her passion for education began early, from tutoring as a high school student to expanding her expertise through pedagogical study and hands-on teaching practice during her senior-year placement. With experience in both self-employed tutoring and formal instructional settings, Reena is dedicated to guiding students in developing critical thinking, refining their language and writing skills, and cultivating a deeper appreciation for learning.

Shafkat A.

Shafkat has a PhD and Masters degree in Economics from York University where he is also currently teaching. He has more than 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience in Canada. Students find him helpful and supportive and attentive to their needs. He is proficient in Math and Economics which he teaches with commitment and expertise. He believes is fostering student’s understanding and helping them excel in their academic endeavors.
He lives in Toronto. In his spare time he likes to listen to classical music and is an avid chess player.

Shan T.

Shan has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, where he double majored in Population Health and Psychology. With a solid understanding of both science and human behavior, he enjoys helping students understand complex topics in a way that makes sense to them.

Having worked with students from elementary to high school, Shan knows how to break down lessons into easy-to-understand steps. He is patient, supportive, and always encourages students to ask questions and stay curious. His goal is to help students feel confident and capable in their studies.

When he’s not tutoring, Shan enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He values these moments and believes in the importance of a good work-life balance.
