Stephen T.

Stephen T. is a high school Mathematics and Science (Physics) teacher with extensive experience in private education. He currently teaches at a private boarding school in Oakville, Ontario, where he has taught Mathematics for the past 19 years. Prior to this role, Stephen taught both Mathematics and Physics at a private school in Bolton, Ontario, and earlier in his career, he taught General Science and A-Level Physics in London, England for three years.
Stephen has a genuine passion for teaching Mathematics and Science and enjoys working closely with students to support and guide their learning. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he is also in charge of a boys’ boarding residence at his current school, allowing him to support students both inside and outside of the classroom on a daily basis.

Susan S.

Susan S. is a dedicated specialist and educator at Prep Academy Tutors, where she blends a deep understanding of psychological theory with a passion for student success. Based in Simcoe County, Susan draws on over seven years of experience advocating for learners within the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) to help students unlock their full potential.

Known for her warm, student-centered approach, Susan strategically integrates Psychology and Social Work frameworks to deliver asset-based support that prioritizes student well-being and independence. She works closely with families and multidisciplinary teams to design and implement practical IEPs and ABA-based programming, ensuring that every child’s unique emotional and academic needs are met with evidence-based strategies.

Susan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Bachelor of Education, and a Social Service Worker diploma, at Lakehead University. She has further specialized her expertise by completing the Reading Part 1 AQ through Trent University. Committed to lifelong learning, she is also preparing to pursue her Master of Education (anticipated 2026-2027) to further bridge the gap between clinical theory and classroom practice.

With specialized certifications in BMS, Applied Behavioural Analysis (Levels I & II), and Mental Health First Aid, Susan is uniquely equipped to nurture confidence and resilience in neurodivergent learners, helping them develop lasting skills for both academic achievement and personal well-being.

Theodore F.

Since 2018, Theodore has been a Communications and Liberal Arts professor at Georgian College. He came into that role with a background in information science, article editing, and years of experience providing remedial and enrichment support as a tutor and learning skills assistant.

Theodore combines subject-matter mastery with sharp diagnostic skill and a personalized teaching approach. He pinpoints hurdles, communicates in a way that best fits the individual learner, and guides progress through clear goals, accountability, and precise, actionable feedback. His easy style has been shaped by years of experience with children and adults alike, and a talent for making difficult material manageable.

Theodore specializes in skills that transfer across subjects, including reading comprehension, structured writing, argumentation, study habits, and test readiness. He helps students address weak organization, unclear expectations, anxiety, inconsistent practice, and gaps in fundamentals. Students learn how to generate and organize ideas, write with clarity and purpose, revise effectively, and approach texts using robust critical reading strategies.

At the post-secondary and adult level, he can support academic writing and professional communications with an emphasis on research and scholarly presentation, including finding and evaluating sources, integrating evidence, and managing references, citations, formatting, and style requirements.

Theodore holds an Honours BA in Classical Studies from the University of Waterloo, a Master of Library and Information Science from Western University, and a Professional Certificate in Web Design from Humber College. As an undergraduate, he received an Essay of the Year award. He has published twice in Quaderni Urbinati di Cultura Classica and worked as an editor for Thomson Reuters, translating legalese into clear English. He has also worked and taught professionally in web design and music.

Jackson G.

Jackson G. is a teacher candidate specializing in mathematics and physics. He has spent his career helping Grade 9–12 students build confidence in some of the most challenging secondary courses. With extensive experience teaching and designing curriculum in senior mathematics, especially Advanced Functions, Calculus & Vectors, and Physics, Jackson is known for his clear explanations, patient guidance, and ability to break down complex ideas into approachable steps. His students appreciate the way he notices subtle thinking patterns, anticipates misconceptions, and creates a learning environment where every question is welcomed and every student feels capable of success.

Jackson brings a strong sense of purpose to his teaching, weaving equity, real‑world relevance, and critical thinking into his lessons. He loves finding creative ways to make abstract concepts meaningful, whether through visual models, hands‑on activities, or connections to students’ interests and everyday experiences. Outside of teaching, Jackson enjoys playing games, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on his favourite sports teams. Above all, he hopes his students leave each session feeling more confident, more curious, and proud of what they can achieve.

Rebecca M.

Becca is currently completing her Bachelor of Education at Ontario Tech University and has gained hands-on field experience working as an Educational Assistant and an Emergency Supply Teacher. Through teaching, Becca has fostered a love of science, and during the summer months she can often be found at camp encouraging children to explore science through interactive, hands-on experiences. Initially from Angus, Ontario, Becca moved to Sudbury to complete an undergraduate degree in Physical and Health Education, with a specialization in Health Promotion. Growing up, Becca loved playing sports (soccer, basketball, volleyball) and going on adventures (hiking, paddleboarding, camping), which helped shape her passion for health, movement, and the outdoors. After working in a variety of childcare settings for over 10 years—including camps, schools, and daycares—she discovered a strong passion for teaching and working with children & teenagers. In her spare time, Becca works one-on-one with students from four years old through high school, supporting the development of their reading, writing, vocabulary, and math skills. She believes that building strong, positive relationships with students is key to meeting their individual needs and supporting meaningful learning. As a mentor, Becca continues to develop effective strategies for working with children and finds these experiences both enjoyable and extremely rewarding. Outside of teaching, she loves going to the gym, spending time outdoors, playing sports, and making memories with family, friends, and her dog, Ceilidh.

Kevin B.

Kevin is a retired, still passionate teacher. Kevin earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Brock and York Universities. His dissertation focused on the proximate and ultimate causes of adoption behaviour in birds. Upon graduation, as a Research Associate, Dr. Brown joined Cornell University where he planned and conducted a five-year research program concerning birds and aircraft in the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge – J.F. Kennedy Airport complex in New York City. His research activities with birds on Lake Erie and Jamaica Bay led to 15 publications in peer-reviewed journals and numerous conference presentations across North America and Europe. In 2000 Kevin returned to Brock University, as an Assistant Professor, where he taught courses in ecology, conservation and environment. After four-year contracts, Kevin secured a permanent job at a private high school in Ontario where he taught grades 11 and 12 math and biology to student-athletes as well as coached the varsity wrestling team; certified Level 1 under the Canadian Coaching Certification Program.
Continuing his passion to teach and to mentor student-athletes, Kevin has been tutoring student-athletes one-on-one, small groups and online. He strives to help students develop learning strategies that will lead to success both inside and outside of the classroom while fostering the development of self-discipline, self-regulation and leadership skills in young adults. Outside of teaching math and coaching wrestling, Kevin is husband to wife Donna of 38 years; they reside in the Niagara area. Kevin and Donna have four grown children together all of whom have graduated university and work either in the health care industry or recreation and leisure. His hobbies include golf, canoeing and gardening. Given his prior experience teaching and mentoring youth, Kevin will quickly become a valued member of faculty at Prep Academy Tutors.

Dimitri Z.

Dimitri is a Certified Teacher, having graduated from Brock University’s Teacher Education program in 2022. Prior to that, Dimitri completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Arts in History at Wilfrid Laurier University. His teachables are History, Geography, English, and Careers & Civics, and he has taught a wide range of courses from grade 9 through 12. Dimitri worked as a Teaching Assistant in history courses while completing his Master’s, and as an Educational Technology Support Assistant at Brock University while completing his teaching degree, where he learned the ins and outs of online learning. Dimitri has also taught summer school Careers & Civics through the Simcoe County District School board, where he has been employed since 2022. Dimitri has often been described as someone who can “have a conversation with a wall,” as he is very social and loves getting to know people. Aside from teaching, Dimitri enjoys reading, visiting museums, bike riding, and spending time with family and friends. Through all of his experiences, Dimitri has developed a strong passion for teaching, learning, and building relationships with students to help them succeed.

Sarah I.

Sarah I. is a certified teacher. She grew up in Guelph, Ontario moving to Trinity College at U. of T. to complete an undergraduate degree in French and English. She attended Toronto Teachers College and later completed a Master’s degree in teaching and a specialist in Special Education. Through teaching, Sarah has been able to foster her love of learning in different environments. Today, she works one-on-one with students from 6 years old to university-aged young people preparing for graduation. She supports improvement in reading, writing for different purposes, expansion of vocabulary, organization, and fosters a desire for learning and excellence. Sarah believes that by building a solid relationship with her students, she can best meet their needs and encourage their learning. As a mentor, she continues to develop strategies for working with students of all ages. She finds these experiences rewarding and she often maintains long-term educational relationships as students carry on through the further stages of learning.

Heather C.

Heather C. is a certified, retired teacher with a 30 year history of working in public education. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology (University of Windsor), a Bachelor of Education (University of Ottawa), and a Master of Arts in Education (Concordia University). Heather is certified as a Specialist in Special Education, an experienced teacher of English as a Second Language, Deaf and Hard of Hearing programs, and qualified to teach the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Divisions. Past assignments include teaching all subjects from kindergarten through to post secondary college and university, and private tutoring. Heather enjoys helping students to compose and edit essays and research papers. She specializes in improving communication skills. Heather believes strong written and verbal communication skills are the foundation for success in most academic subjects for all grades. Heather’s proven success with improving students’ confidence and attitudes towards learning was evident in the improvement of their academic grades. In addition to being knowledgeable about the public school system, Heather has firsthand experience in the independent school and Montessori systems. Heather retired early from teaching for school districts to pursue a PhD in Education (University of Western Ontario) and to travel. She returns to do what she finds most rewarding which is helping families with their educational experiences in any school system. In her spare time, Heather kayaks, cycles, swims, and walks her dog on trails.

Carter M.

Carter is a certified high school teacher with qualifications in math, physics, and special education. After studying and working in engineering for two years, he completed his Master of Teaching degree and then began his teaching career in Sweden, where he taught science for three years. The unique blend of Swedish curriculum and English-language instruction has made Carter an adaptable and patient teacher with a deep understanding of scientific and mathematical concepts and vocabulary. He is a kind and calm teacher with integrity, who sets high expectations for his students. He helped prepare Swedish students for their rigorous national exams, developing a variety of study material to target all of the learning needs and preferences of his students. This experience has made him well-versed in preparing students for lengthy and challenging examinations. Carter now works as a high school math teacher in Simcoe County. In his spare time, he loves to stay active through various sports including skiing, cycling, and hockey. He also has a passion for performing and listening to music.
