Didem A.

Didem is a passionate and results-driven educator with over 10 years of experience tutoring more than 200 students, ranging from elementary to senior level. Based in Metro Vancouver, she specializes in supporting students in developing critical reading, analytical writing, and communication skills for IB, AP, British Curriculum, and standardized test preparation, including the SAT, ACT, IELTS, and more. Didem holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the State University of New York and a TESOL teaching certification awarded with distinction. She has taught students worldwide through both in-person and online sessions, tailoring lessons to individual learning styles to improve confidence and academic performance. Skilled in instruction, Didem empowers learners to achieve their full potential through personalized, engaging support.

Bruce M.

Bruce is an experienced educator with over 30 years of teaching and tutoring across academic subjects including math, science, writing, history, and geography. He’s helped students at all levels improve understanding, raise grades, and boost scores on standardized tests like the SAT, ACT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, GED, AP exams, Regents, ASVAB, and Civil Service tests. He’s served as an Adjunct Professor for over 30 years at several colleges, and also taught with The Princeton Review and Kaplan, bringing proven test-prep strategies to his students. In addition to 20 years of private tutoring, he spent 5 years with Science Adventures, running after-school science programs and summer camps plus 6 years at Treasure Island Day Camp in charge of all Nature programs.
His professional background includes more than two decades at Brookhaven National Lab, as well as technical and management roles at Grumman Aerospace, Robotic Vision Systems, Megadata, and American Science, working in scientific research, engineering, software development, management, and consulting. He’s also developed training programs and educational curricula for both academic and professional settings.
Beyond teaching and tech, he is a published writer with thousands of pages in print, as well as a journal editor. Students appreciate his ability to explain complex concepts clearly, build confidence, and adapt to their unique learning style.

 

 

 

Sophia N.

Sophia is in her second year of Materials Engineering at the University of British Columbia. She has extensive experience tutoring math and physics in the British Columbia Grades 8–12 curriculum, building on her background as a peer tutor in high school.  An avid cellist, she has also enjoyed mentoring younger musicians by coaching chamber groups and leading an elementary school orchestra during her final year of high school. Committed to fostering a learning environment that encourages a growth mindset, Sophia believes every student has the potential to grow and improve. In her spare time, she enjoys biking and running around Vancouver.

Heather G.

Heather Grant has been guiding and coaching students for nearly three decades, bringing extensive experience in academic counselling, executive functioning coaching, and post-secondary advising. She has worked in leadership and guidance roles at some of Canada’s leading independent schools, including Appleby College and Havergal College, as well as internationally at Neuchâtel Junior College in Switzerland. Most recently, she served as Director of Guidance and Counselling at the National Ski Academy in Collingwood, Ontario.

Heather specializes in post-secondary advising, helping students successfully navigate the university and college application process in Canada, the US, and the UK. She has particular expertise in NCAA athletics pathways, supporting student-athletes through eligibility, recruitment, and scholarship opportunities. In addition, Heather provides executive functioning coaching, guiding students in developing organization, time management, and study skills that allow them to thrive academically and personally.

Her approach is student-centred and holistic, blending academic planning with social-emotional support to ensure students feel confident, resilient, and well-prepared for their futures. She has extensive experience helping students build strong study habits, manage stress, and develop the independence needed to succeed in post-secondary settings.

Families and students consistently value Heather’s warmth, professionalism, and depth of experience. She combines practical, step-by-step guidance with a caring and encouraging presence, making her a trusted partner in helping young people prepare for the next stage of their academic journey.

Heather holds a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto, a Master of Arts in Physical and Health Education from Queen’s University, and multiple undergraduate degrees in Physical Education, Health Studies and Women’s Studies. In addition to her school leadership roles, she has been a frequent presenter to students, parents, and community groups on topics including university admissions, executive functioning, and mental health.

Peter D.

Peter has a Master’s degree in Computational Physics from the University of Edinburgh. He has experience teaching physics and math to an undergraduate level through working as a teaching assistant during his studies. In addition, he has worked with secondary school students (grades 7–12) through one on one tutoring in mathematics.

Alongside his teaching background, Peter has a strong foundation in scientific computing and programming. He is highly experienced in coding and is able to teach Python to students interested in developing computational skills.

Peter aims to teach the core concepts of these subjects at a high level to ensure that a strong foundation is developed by the student for their future careers and studies.

KRISHNA A.

Krishna is an engineer with a deep interest in developing cost-effective, durable, and globally scalable housing technologies. Currently pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia, his research focuses on the use of 3D concrete printing for innovative and sustainable housing construction. Alongside his academic and engineering pursuits, Krishna is equally passionate about teaching and tutoring.  He actively seeks out and embraces opportunities to sharpen his instructional skills and engage with students of all levels. With experience ranging from high school to undergraduate and graduate students, Krishna has taught a broad spectrum of subjects. His core teaching areas include English, Science, Mathematics (with particular expertise in Calculus, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Algebra), Physics, and Engineering Mechanics. In addition, he prepares students for competitive academic challenges such as AP, IB, and Euclid-level exams. YINI L.

Yini Liu is a highly accomplished educator with over seven years of international teaching experience in China. Originally from Southern China, she moved to Toronto in 2010 and pursued an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry – Biomedical Research at McMaster University. Graduating at the top of her class, she received multiple prestigious accolades, including the National Canadian Chemistry Merit Award. Dedicated to professional growth, Yini earned her IB Certificate in Teaching and Learning while teaching in China and participated in an AP Chemistry workshop by the College Board, further enhancing her expertise in advanced science education.

Yini’s impact as an educator is evident in her students’ outstanding achievements. In 2022, her AP Chemistry students achieved a success rate 5.5 times higher than the international average, and one of her students earned the Global Gold Award for the Canadian Chemistry Contest. Her ability to inspire and challenge students has made her a sought-after mentor in the field. Currently, Yini is furthering her dedication to education by completing her Master of Teaching at the University of Toronto, reinforcing her commitment to lifelong learning and academic excellence.

Victoria W.

Victoria is a dynamic and creative teacher with years experience working with Prep Academy. She has experience in the classroom with every grade from Kindergarten to Grade 9 including French Immersion, Extended French, and Core French. Her specialities include working with French learners, teaching students to read, strengthening reading, writing, and math skills while making learning fun. Victoria’s interests include sustainability, community growth, global initiatives, volunteering, well-being, and empowering others. Caleb holds an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, with majors in Biology and Environmental Science. He also possesses an Educational Support certificate from Sheridan College, equipping him with the skills to effectively assist students across diverse levels and learning challenges.

Caleb’s expertise spans the sciences, mathematics, and multiple languages, including Spanish.
