ERICA C.

Erica is currently completing her Masters of Education at OISE, U of T in the Primary/Junior division and will graduate from the program in June. Erica has had a passion for Special Education since being a One-to-One Support Worker at camp where she was paired with children who had ADHD, Autism, and/or a range of physical disabilities.

Erica’s positive attitude and infectious energy allow her to create engaging, educational lessons for her students. Her background in technology allows her to incorporate digital tools into every lesson, allowing students to learn unique skills for their future. Erica ensures that all her lessons align with the Ontario Curriculum and IEP guidelines and are unique to her students’ needs. She understands that each student comes with their own prior knowledge, has their own way of learning, and should be involved in their learning process every step of the way. Erica’s teaching philosophy is grounded in inclusion and therefore her job is to create a space where all students are eager to participate, feel comfortable taking risks, and have no hesitation in owning their mistakes.

During her free time, Erica likes to be active and adventurous. She enjoys boxing, coaching soccer, doing yoga and exploring. She believes that exercising all four (body, mind, spirit, and emotions) is the key to a healthy, full life and sets you up to be a lifelong learner.

ZAHIA O.

Zahia is a dedicated French and mathematics Teacher. She first completed an engineering degree in Computer sciences in Algeria. She took the opportunity to perform a training in Pedagogy following the completion of her degree and she decided to pursue teaching as a career. Zahia grew up with a deep love of teaching French and working with children.

Zahia has an interest in travel and exploring the world. She moved to Quebec and had the opportunity to teach in many schools at elementary and middle school level. Then she moved to Saudi Arabia where she had the opportunity to teach French as a Second Language in International Schools.

Zahia returned to Canada 2 years ago, worked in a private school in Ottawa and was French Tutor for elementary and middle school students. She has supported the improvement of their reading, writing, vocabulary and listening skills. She recently moved to Toronto and is hired by ViaMonde School Board and Online schools to teach French and mathematics..

In her spare time, Zahia enjoys long distance walking, reading, as well as spending time with her friends and family.

Zahia believes that by building a strong relationship with her students she is better able to meet their needs and grow their learning. As a tutor, she continues to develop strategies for working with children. She finds these experiences enjoyable and extremely rewarding.

 

 

SHUBHAYAN K.

 

Shubhayan earned his Master’s Degree in Applications of Mathematics at the Chennai Mathematical Institute in 2013 and is currently pursuing independent studies in Machine Learning and Data Science.

With over 6 years of experience in Mathematics teaching and tutoring at various levels ranging from middle school to professional education, he incorporates his love for the subject with a passion for sharing and exchanging knowledge to create a unique learning experience for each of his students.

 

His study resources extend beyond books and lectures, and out into the real world and online math learning platforms. He makes efficient use of tools like Desmos and Geogebra, and refers to captivating sources like Numberphile and 3Blue1Brown on YouTube for inspiration.

 

He is a former candidate delegate for the World Cube Association, and his special skills and interests include Cooking, Karaoke, Board Games and being able to solve a Rubik’s Cube in under twenty seconds, one handed.

SYDNEY M.

 

Sydney has a Bachelor of Education degree and an undergraduate Bachelor degree in Psychology. She primarily works in the primary/junior division with knowledge and experience in Special Education and Autism. She has the following additional teaching qualifications: Special Education Part 1, Teaching Students with Communication Needs (ASD), Student Assessment and Evaluation, and Integration of Information and Computer Technology in Instruction. Sydney has a wide variety of experience working with children from teaching (in-person and online), coaching, and working one-on-one in academic and therapeutic settings (ABA). Sydney’s hobbies and interests include playing sports (especially soccer), baking and puzzle/board games.

My name is Rebecca and I have a passion to help students learn in a fun and creative manner. While doing so, I keep in mind that each child learns in their own way and at their own rate. Prior to becoming a Teacher, I was an Early Childhood Educator and gained more than five years of experience in the Full Day Kindergarten Program. I then completed a Master’s of Education in the Primary and Junior divisions in the United States. I hope that we can work together to help your child unravel their full learning potential and lead them to student success.

Bianca P.

Bianca has over 15 years of experience in education in both Toronto and internationally as a certified Teacher. She spent 7 years in the Middle East at international schools in various roles of teaching and leadership. Bianca has a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and her thesis is focused on equitable leadership.

Bianca began her career as an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to develop a deep understanding of the mindset of a developing child. She is consistently upgrading her education and experiences to remain current in her professional practice. Bianca believes that education is the foundation of society and understands her role in shaping the future through the education of students.

Amanda R.

Amanda received her Honours BSc at the University of Western Ontario. She discovered her passion for teaching while teaching English in South Korea. Amanda completed her Graduate Diploma in Education, Primary at The University of Wollongong in NSW, Australia and has taught K-6 in Australia and the Sultanate of Oman. Her diverse range of teaching experiences has supported her in developing a broad range of knowledge and instructional strategies targeted to support learners of all abilities. She is committed to student achievement and firmly believes that every child can succeed. In her free time, Amanda enjoys cooking, practicing yoga, listening to podcasts, and spending time with her family.

Pieter B.

Pieter grew up between North America and Europe (Canada, USA, France, UK). He went to Middlebury College in Verrnont for his BA in Spatial Analysis and Human Ecology and to School for International Training, also in Vermont, for his MA in International Administration, and Cross-Cultural Teaching & Training. After work in cultural exchange and education, tourism, theatre performance and others, he has been teaching in Ontario at the high school and intermediate levels, with Ontario Certification.
The arts and humanities, and more specifically Extended French and Immersion have been foremost. Positions in international and private schools, as well as the Toronto District School Board, and in Ontario & France have also included the IB Theory of Knowledge and the IGCSE from the UK.
Interests include hiking, skiing, sailing, horseback riding, cycling, writing, photography, and environmental issues.
He likeshing for it’s involvement with young people who are discovering who they are, gaining skills, perspectives and structures which will serve them for many years. He finds that the energy of students, and his own, form a synergy of discovery for all involved. An attempt is made to connect learning to a student’s curiosity and experience and encourage new avenues of thought and action. This is a teacher who really enjoys his students and lifelong learning.

Michael H.

Michael has a Masters in Education and an Honors degree from U of T. He has been a teacher at the Peel school board for 13 years. He is qualified to teach k-5 and has experience with special education students in class and online. He is well liked by his fellow teachers and most importantly the students. Michael has experience teaching one on one with various types of learners including those whom have have special needs. He is very patient and supportive of his students.

Hylaine M.

Hylaine’s teaching philosophy is to foster an environment where children feel that they are represented in their school work. She believes that all children are capable of learning when they have a teacher who has the skills and strategies to teach them. Hylaine strives to present learning in ways that they can understand and apply their skills. It is important to her that through each lesson students are able to see themselves in learning and understand what their strengths are. Hylaine loves to incorporate songs and games in her lessons in order to help students stayed engaged and have fun learning. Hylaine has experience working in Ontario elementary schools, teaching online, and tutoring experience. When Hylaine isn’t teaching, she enjoys reading books, listening to music, and fitness activities.
