MINA L.

Mina Lee graduated from Princeton University with honors and a degree in History. At Princeton, she was a Head Fellow at the Writing Center, where she worked with undergrads and graduate students across all disciplines on essays, applications, dissertations, and more. She’s been teaching the SAT in one-on-one and classroom settings (up to 35+ students in one class) for over five years. She also consults on and workshops college essays and applications.

Additionally, Mina has spent years tutoring a range of subjects, from math to English to history. Mina speaks Spanish proficiently and Korean conversationally.

DEBORAH H.

Along with a Master’s degree in Education, a BA in Speech Communications, and a BS in Secondary English Education, Deborah is also a Certified Academic Language Practitioner (CALP) and is certified at the Associate Level by the Orton-Gillingham Academy and ALTA. She is also certified in Self-Reg and TESOL.  Deborah has experience teaching high school, teaching struggling readers of all ages, teaching students who need a full English curriculum for their homeschool years, and teaching children of asylum seekers in her years living in Hong Kong. These diverse experiences taught Deborah to personalize her teaching, allowing her to regularly assess the progress of each student, to construct a scope and sequence that is personalized to each student, and to adapt teaching methods accordingly to ensure each student’s learning style is honored. With the training and experience and commitment to professional development, she is able to attend to the continuous improvement of each student.

ADAM W.

Adam is an experienced science teacher with over 15 years experience in the classroom as a teacher and another 6 years as a school administrator mainly focusing on Living Environment, Biology, and Environmental Science. Adam has a good grasp on standards for science based on his school wide work with students who have special needs. He therefore can be very specific in his approach to give students exactly what they need in order to be successful.

 

KRISTINA B.

In 2016, Kristina graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stockton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a minor in Literature. Kristina graduated from CUNY Lehman College with a Master of Arts degree in English with a concentration in Writing and Rhetoric. During her time in graduate school, Kristina was awarded the Dr. Alice Griffin Fellowship for her outstanding GPA. Kristina has always had an interest in helping students better themselves through reading and writing.Throughout college, Kristina worked as a research assistant to several professors where she was given the opportunity to edit a book on oral histories, submit extensive research on specific authors, design a campus-wide campaign, as well as intensify her love for the English language. Kristina has experience tutoring a wide range of students with different levels of ability. She enjoys helping students reach their full potential, and she has had consistent success in helping students reach their educational goals.

COLLEEN S.

Colleen Slattery has a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with a major in History and also has a Master’s degree in Literacy Education. She has been teaching social studies and tutoring students across all grade levels and subject areas for the past ten years.  She currently teaches at a public school in Westchester, NY.  Colleen’s passion for Literacy fuses with her passion of incorporating reading and writing strategies that help students comprehend various levels of texts, apply new vocabulary words in discussions, and enhance their educational experience. In addition, she is also the facilitator in a ‘Steps to Success’ Program for middle school students. This program helps students transition into middle school with the primary focus on homework help, reviewing for upcoming tests and projects, learning the best study strategies, and executive functioning. Colleen is a lifelong learner who is caring, patient and who strives to build trusting and productive relationships with her students and to motivate them to accomplish their goals.

KAROLINE R.

Karoline has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She has a wide range of experience with different age groups from elementary to high school. She currently works at a high school as a World Language Educator. She enjoys spending time with family and playing volleyball. She is very passionate about her work and hopes to be a big asset in the success of her students.

 

 

 

 

ERIN F.

Erin is a highly passionate and nurturing educator with 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience. Erin possesses a dual Master of the Arts Degree in Childhood Education and Special Education from New York University and spent over 10 years as a New York City public school teacher. Throughout her career, Erin has taught 1st, 3rd and 5th grade and has served as a grade team leader. She has a passion for differentiating material according to a child’s interests, strengths and needs and  believes that the key to successful instruction is making it fun and engaging. Erin is thrilled to be a Prep Academy Tutor, which allows her to help children develop confidence in their abilities and a lifelong love of learning.

 

 

ANTHONY J.

Anthony has been a mathematics educator since 2018, and has a Master’s of Science in Education, Mathematics 7-12, degree from Lehman College. He holds a Professional Certificate in Mathematics, 7-12, from the New York State Education Department (NYSED), and has taught/tutored a variety of courses ranging from pre-algebra to calculus in both New York City and Westchester County. Anthony is currently pursuing his Professional Certificate in Computer Science (All Grades), and is also considering an Advanced Certificate in Students with Disabilities, 7-12.

JODY M.

Jody M. has been an elementary educator for 26 years, in grades K-8, having spent 17 of those years in a self-contained 2nd grade classroom. She has taught in both urban and suburban settings, private and public schools. She and her husband live in Stratford, CT and have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. In her spare time, she likes to travel, bicycle, kayak and read. She looks forward to continuing to work with students!

VERONICA F.

Veronica F. is a math teacher with 18 years of experience at Rye Neck High School in Mamaroneck, NY. She holds a master’s degree in Mathematics Education from New York University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D in Curriculum and Instruction from St. John’s University. She has taught and tutored all levels of mathematics from grade 7 – AP Calculus. She specializes in both AP Calculus AB & BC, as well as ACT and SAT prep. She has helped many students build confidence by delivering instruction with diverse approaches and representations.
