ERIN F.

Erin is a highly passionate and nurturing educator with 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience. Erin possesses a dual Master of the Arts Degree in Childhood Education and Special Education from New York University and spent over 10 years as a New York City public school teacher. Throughout her career, Erin has taught 1st, 3rd and 5th grade and has served as a grade team leader. She has a passion for differentiating material according to a child’s interests, strengths and needs and  believes that the key to successful instruction is making it fun and engaging. Erin is thrilled to be a Prep Academy Tutor, which allows her to help children develop confidence in their abilities and a lifelong love of learning.

 

 

ANTHONY J.

Anthony has been a mathematics educator since 2018, and holds a Master of Science in Education, Mathematics, 7-12, degree from Lehman College. He holds Professional Certificates in Mathematics, 7-12, and Computer Science (All Grades) from the New York State Education Department (NYSED), and has taught/tutored a variety of courses ranging from pre-algebra to calculus in both New York City and Westchester County. Anthony is considering pursuing an Advanced Certificate in Students with Disabilities, 7-12.

JODY M.

Jody M. has been an elementary educator for 26 years, in grades K-8, having spent 17 of those years in a self-contained 2nd grade classroom. She has taught in both urban and suburban settings, private and public schools. She and her husband live in Stratford, CT and have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. In her spare time, she likes to travel, bicycle, kayak and read. She looks forward to continuing to work with students!

VERONICA F.

Veronica F. is a math teacher with 18 years of experience at Rye Neck High School in Mamaroneck, NY. She holds a master’s degree in Mathematics Education from New York University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D in Curriculum and Instruction from St. John’s University. She has taught and tutored all levels of mathematics from grade 7 – AP Calculus. She specializes in both AP Calculus AB & BC, as well as ACT and SAT prep. She has helped many students build confidence by delivering instruction with diverse approaches and representations.

BEN H.

Ben earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, where he was a Jacob K. Javits Fellow and a top instructor with the university’s Writing Program. Over the past seven years, his teaching has helped students achieve their highest potential in the verbal sections of the ISEE, SSAT, SAT, ACT, GRE, and GMAT exams, as well as college essay writing. Ben’s focus on building mastery of core strategies, modeling positive feedback, and inspiring self-confidence has delivered outsized results across a broad range of ages, backgrounds, and ability levels. By adapting his approach to fit the unique needs of each student, he has helped students place in the 99th percentile of test takers and go on to study at universities including Princeton, NYU, Brown, and the University of Chicago. Outside of the classroom, Ben enjoys backpacking, playing piano, and spending time with his four nieces and nephews.

 

 

 

CAROLINE E.

Caroline has over 10 years of early childhood and elementary teaching experience at both independent and public schools in Connecticut and New York City. She is currently based in Norwalk, CT. Caroline believes learning should be a joyful experience and she creates thoughtful, engaging, hands-on lessons for young learners! She has a master’s degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education from Manhattanville College and is currently pursuing a Sixth Year certification program in Reading and Literacy at University of Bridgeport. She also has experience with direct, explicit instruction for teaching reading using the Orton-Gillingham approach to elementary students. Caroline loves working with young learners and is passionate about helping children develop confidence. She believes each child learns and develops in their own way and feels teaching with excitement and making learning fun is the key to success.

ALYSSA C.

Alyssa is a dedicated educator who pursued her master’s degree at Manhattanville College and continues to take classes to further her expertise. With over six years of experience, she has guided students across elementary, middle and high school levels. Alyssa’s specialization in mathematics showcases her passion for the subject but her versatility extends to teaching various subjects.

KATHRYN B.

Kathryn B. is a former criminal prosecutor who graduated with honors from Georgetown University Law Center.  Before that, she attended Fordham University on a full four-year academic scholarship, graduating magna cum laude. A participant in the Honors Program who majored in French language and literature, Kathryn is fluent in French, having studied at the Sorbonne, University of Paris, France.
Since 2006, Kathryn has tutored hundreds of students, both individually and in small classes, for numerous standardized tests, including ACT, SAT, PSAT, TACHS, SHSAT, and ISEE. She works with students at all levels, designing a personalized program that includes content, strategies, and time management. Kathryn also  provides suggestions to manage anxiety and stress.
Kathryn’s teaching style is focused yet relaxed, and humor is essential! She enjoys working with her students, helping them take steps to achieve their dreams.

 

SALVADOR N.

Salvador is an experienced and passionate educator with 9 years of teaching experience. Creating an inclusive and positive learning environment is a key factor in his teaching philosophy. He believes in not only empowering student ability but also nurturing critical thinking, creativity, and empathy in students.
Salvador holds a Master’s in Education from Long Island University and consistently pursues professional development opportunities to stay updated with cutting-edge teaching techniques and technology integration.
Beyond the classroom, Salvador is an avid community service volunteer, which enables him to connect with students and communities on a personal level. With every  academic year that comes, Salvador is always eager to inspire young minds and support them in becoming confident, lifelong learners.

LIZ G.

Liz is excited to be a Prep Academy Tutor. Liz has 17 years of dedicated teaching experience. Liz has taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade and 5th grade. She has also been a Reading Coach for three years.  Liz is committed to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment and wants children to feel confident and successful. Liz believes that education is a journey of exploration and growth. Liz looks forward to getting to know her students, building strong connections, and helping each student reach their full potential.
