ANETTE K.

Anette graduated in June of 2021 from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts- Honours Psychology with a Research-Intensive Specialization and a minor in Social Development Studies. She is currently a Teacher Candidate at OISE/University of Toronto Master of Child Study and Education program and will complete her Master’s in April 2024. Anette has experience teaching K-6 both in the public school board and independent school. Her practice focuses on building students’ relationships through celebrating their strengths. Anette’s teaching approach can be encapsulated by three words- care, compassion, and respect. Anette values differentiated learning and utilizes Universal Design for Learning to help students succeed. She enjoys making learning fun for all through games and discussions. Anette strives to not only help students be successful academically but also help them be confident in being who they are.

Anette spent her childhood in Hong Kong where she attended elementary and middle school. Having this unique experience allowed her to critically compare the education system in both countries and pick out things that she liked about each system. Her teaching philosophy has a healthy balance of Eastern and Western teaching approaches.

In her spare time Anette enjoys reading and exercising as it fosters both physical and mental health. Anette is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.

 

 

LUISE L.

Introducing Luise L. a passionate math tutor dedicated to helping students conquer the world of numbers. With a Bachelor of Mathematics with Honors Co-op from the University of Waterloo, majoring in Combinatorics & Optimization and minoring in Computer Science, Luise brings a wealth of mathematical knowledge and expertise to the table.

Boasting over five years of tutoring experience, Luise has guided numerous students through the intricacies of math, witnessing their success as they navigated the challenges of the public education system up to grade 12. Having briefly explored the corporate world, Luise’s heart has always been in education. Now, with the evolving landscape of the education job market, she’s thrilled to re-enter the field and assist students in achieving their mathematics education goals.

Her tutoring expertise extends seamlessly through grade 12 advanced functions, trigonometry, and calculus. Although not versed in the data management curriculum, Luise is confident in her ability to support students in various math subjects.

Outside the world of numbers, Luise is a proud parent to five delightful feline companions and a caretaker to over 300 indoor houseplants. Her dreams include cultivating rare and exotic daylilies and peony flowers in the countryside.

MELIKA H.

Melika H. is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with a strong educational background and a passion for teaching. She earned her Bachelor of Education from Ontario Tech University in December 2023, and prior to that, she completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at York University in 2020. Melika’s love for working with children and her dedication to the field of education led her to become an OCT certified teacher.

With a genuine enthusiasm for teaching, Melika strives to create engaging and inclusive learning environments that inspire her students to reach their full potential. She believes in building strong relationships with her students to better understand their individual needs and support their growth. In addition to her formal teaching role, Melika also enjoys working one-on-one with children, helping them improve their reading, writing, vocabulary, and math skills.

Melika’s commitment to education extends beyond the classroom. She is dedicated to enhancing the learning experience through interactive and hands-on activities. Her innovative teaching methods and mentorship activities reflect her love for the field and her dedication to fostering a love for learning in her students.

In her spare time, Melika Heydarinasab enjoys various hobbies, including hiking, reading, and spending time with her 10 year old nephew. Her enthusiasm for teaching, combined with her commitment to personal growth and community involvement, makes her a dedicated and inspiring educator.

 

JOELY B.

Joely is an Ontario Certified Teacher and recent graduate of Ontario Tech University’s Bachelor of Education (Primary/Junior) program. She has experienced three elementary practicum placements in the York Region District School Board – specifically in Thornhill, where she was born and raised. Here, she developed best practices for writing lesson plans that engage all students and strive to meet every individual learner’s needs through Universal Design for Learning and Differentiated Instruction. This has motivated her to register for the Special Education Part 1 additional qualification in Winter 2024. Before becoming a teacher candidate, Joely graduated from Ontario Tech with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Communication and Digital Media Studies. During both of her degrees, she worked part-time as a writing peer tutor, supporting students in various undergraduate programs with their research, planning, and essay-writing skills. However, this is not where Joely’s passion for helping others began. It was her own Kindergarten experience that influenced her career aspiration, even skipping ski trips in Grades 4 and 5 to volunteer in her former teacher’s Kindergarten class. She has since been able to expand her skills in leadership, organization, and patience as a cabin counsellor, and now unit head, at Camp Robin Hood, a place in which she has spent every summer since she was five years old. Joely loves music, having spent her elementary school years in piano lessons and her high school years in a vocal music arts program. She also enjoys baking, going on walks with her loved ones, and cuddling with her two cats, Will and Grace.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

KIANA I.

Kiana I. is a high school math and science teacher. She completed a bachelor’s degree in cellular and molecular biology – genetics. She then moved to Canada to complete a graduate diploma in Biotechnology. While studying in Canada, she developed a passion for tutoring and was responsible for all exam-prep workshops in the faculty of chemistry and biological sciences. Her role as a peer tutor inspired her to pursue a career in education. Since 2019, she has supported many students from grades 7-12. She works at a gifted program, helping advanced students achieve their academic goals. She finds teaching a rewarding career, enjoys learning about each student’s learning experience, and caters her teaching style to their educational needs. She believes in making a positive relationship with her students to support them better in their academic goals.

 

GARY S.

Gary graduated from York University with an Honours Degree in Mathematics, and from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (University of Toronto) with a Bachelor of Education. He has been tutoring since he was in high school himself, covering all levels of Math—including Functions, Advanced Functions, Calculus and Data Management—as well as English. In addition, he is experienced with SAT/ACT preparation, and spent 16 years teaching martial arts professionally. Gary draws on the depth and breadth of his experience to tailor his tutoring to each individual student, aiding them develop the skills to successfully reach their academic goals

SHAHRAM H.

With over two decades of dedicated mathematics teaching experience, I hold a master’s degree in mathematics and specialize in the transfer of mathematics knowledge from high school to university levels. I am passionate about fostering a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and helping students on their mathematical journey. My approach is a combination of patience, clarity, and personal guidance to ensure the success of each student.
With a proven track record of teaching a wide range of mathematics subjects from grade 6 to 12 and college and university, I enable students to excel in mathematics, providing dedicated support to strengthen their understanding, helping them to Homework and getting higher grades in Math exams
I love teaching mathematics, not because mathematics is the foundation of many sciences, but because mathematics enhances some skills such as proble solving, attention to details and critical thinking.
I have a flexible teaching style that works for all students of different abilities and backgrounds. According to my teaching method, in addition to getting good grades in exams, students can remember math material for a long time, which is very important for their future career and education.

 

ANDREW C.

Andrew C. is an Ontario Certified Teacher. He was born in Hong Kong and moved to Canada with his family when he was 10. He has an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology and History from York University. Andrew has always been an inquisitive and curious person who had a passion for learning and sharing his knowledge. It is this passion that led him to pursue education. Andrew began tutoring as well as teaching swimming and lifesaving lessons when he was 16. He found the work to be extremely rewarding and gratifying. His favorite part of teaching is being able to share in the joy of his students when they achieve their goal or learn something new. This experience led him to Kingston where he completed the Bachelor of Education program at Queens University. Andrew often utilizes his fluent cantonese and mandarin to assist other teachers with translating for immigrant families. Andrew enjoys sharing his interests with the next generation and volunteers his time coaching youth basketball. All in all, Andrew has worked with children ranging from 3 years all the way to 15 years of age. As an educator, Andrew believes that it is important to build a strong trusting relationship and learn about each student as a person. This is because everyone may be different, but everyone is capable of learning. It is the responsibility of educators to figure out how each student learns best and put them in an environment where they can be at their best.

BILL G.

Bill graduated from University of Toronto where he majored in Math and Physics. He specializes in teaching all high school Math, Grade 9/10 Science, Grade 11/12 Physics, Grade 11/12 Chemistry & Biology. Bill has experience teaching at IB levels as well as AP levels of Math & Sciences as well. He has participated in various contests in high school and university and trained students in contests such as SIN, COMC, Hypatia and Euclid. Bill is great at helping students to develop their problem solving and critical thinking skills.

In addition, he has tutored University courses including Calculus, Linear Algebra, Linguistic (Logic) for many first & second year students at U of T, Waterloo and Ottawa U.
