Raemyn is excited to be joining the Prep Academy Tutors team in the role of Franchise Support Manager. She has been working with Prep Academy for over two years. Raemyn is a certified teacher who is familiar with the curriculum guidelines and expectations over various grade levels, and she specializes in teaching English and Social Sciences. Raemyn majored in Educational Studies and graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree. Raemyn is passionate about creating a safe, inclusive, and better educational experience for students. In her free time, Raemyn enjoys watching hockey, traveling, and spending time with her family

Aman has completed his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of British Columbia, Okanagan where he primarily worked on Aluminum Alloys for designing an Aircraft Fuselage. At university, he also had the chance to work with first- and second-year undergrad students helping them with mainly calculus and statistics in one-on-one and group sessions. Before moving to Canada, he has been part of an India-based NGO where he was focused on teaching Math and Science to the underprivileged section of society. During his time as a tutor, Aman has come across a variety of students and he believes in tailoring his teaching methods to his student’s ability to grasp the topic. His consistent support to students has helped them improve their grades and develop an interest in the subject. Aman has a passion for teaching and is keen to work with students at all levels from grades K-12.

Apart from teaching, Aman enjoys outdoor running and has been a marathon runner. He is also a trained rifle shooter and has won various competitions. Staying in Kelowna, he has lately developed a keen interest in hiking as well.

Amelia graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences. Throughout her university career, Amelia taught first year mathematics and statistics classes as a Supplemental Learning (SL) leader. She is passionate about teaching, and is great at breaking down challenging concepts into smaller, more comprehensible pieces. Amelia gets to know her learners, and puts a lot of effort into understanding their learning styles, and catering to that. She has been tutoring and teaching math for eight years, and has helped many students enjoy math and view it as a comfortable challenge, rather than a daunting task. She has experience tutoring both individuals and groups, and is happy to do either or. She mainly has experience tutoring and teaching students of high school or university level, however she has lots of experience with younger students and is very comfortable tutoring any level.

In her free time, Amelia loves being active, whether that is skiing or climbing or anything in between. She also has traveled extensively, and has taught English abroad. She is an outgoing and friendly individual who always finds a way to make people feel comfortable. Her love for teaching stems from her love for helping people, and she really enjoys seeing the improvements her students make.

Andrew completed his Bachelor of Arts at the University of British Columbia, before acquiring a Master’s of Teaching at the University of Otago in New Zealand. Andrew has taught in most subject areas while specializing in English, History, Social Studies and Technologies.

With a further background as an electrician, he also has a strong understanding of calculus, algebra, trigonometry and foundations mathematics. Throughout his trades and teacher education, Andrew has participated in tutoring a wide variety of students, including first and second-year undergrads. During his time as a teacher, he has found that curating the subject to meet the unique and individual needs and interests of the student is key to their learning success.

Hello! My name is Christian. I am a Science and Mathematics teacher at Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School here in Kelowna BC.  I moved to Kelowna in 2009 to attend UBC-Okanagan where I completed my BSc in Microbiology and BEd in Secondary Math and Science Education. Through my time at UBC-Okanagan I was also fortunate to work for Interior Health doing research in the Microbiology department eventually leading to me presenting at international microbiology conferences in Germany, USA and Canada and even having a paper published.  When I am not in the classroom, I love to be outdoors or involved in anything sport related! I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals!

Eileen is a Speech Language Pathologist with experience working in the education, healthcare, and private systems across Canada and the United States.

She enjoys working with children and adults with various backgrounds in-person and virtually. Eileen uses creativity when collaborating with families in order to achieve overall speech, language, and communication goals. She holds a special interest in providing services to remote communities and bringing a positive experience to families.

In addition to her MSc. in Speech-Language Pathology, Eileen’s advanced training includes Canadian Hemispheres Level 1-8 (Stroke Competency Series), MBS IMP Certification, SCERTS training, Hanen’s Learning Language and Loving It, and she is currently studying towards her Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy certification. She has taken additional coursework in the areas of trauma practices, neurological approaches for self-regulation, and articulation and language treatments.

In her spare time, Eileen enjoys a variety of hobbies, except needlepoint. She has tremendous respect for those who engage in needlepoint. She is a published author and holds a deep compassion for others and their journeys.

Eileen is a member of College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of British Columbia (CSHBC), British Columbia Association of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (BCASLPA), Speech-Language Audiology Canada (SAC), and is a Past member of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).

Erika is a Certified Teacher in British Columbia, Ontario and Scotland. She grew up in Oakville, Ontario and attended Carleton University in Ottawa where she obtained a Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management and a minor in French.

Upon graduating, Erika’s love for the French language led her to move to Chamonix, France where she lived and worked as an au pair for one year. It was during her time there that she discovered her interest and passion for working with children.

Erika also worked for an after school program planning and leading activities for children aged 5-12, but her love for travel took her to Scotland where she completed her degree in teaching. She obtained a Professional Graduate Diploma in Education at the University of the West of Scotland. Although she enjoyed living there, she felt compelled to move closer to home and the mountains.

Erika believes that each child is unique, and she understands the importance of supporting every child’s learning using individualized strategies. She places focus on instilling confidence in children, ensuring they feel able to reach their full potential. Erika feels that a positive attitude helps to make a fun and engaging learning experience for children.

Erika enjoys skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer. She has a big sweet tooth and it is not uncommon to find her snacking on candy! Erika loves working with children and is looking forward to growing and developing her skills in teaching.

Fanny speaks French, Spanish, English and German. She has taught in several countries, including Thailand, Mauritius and Mexico. Since then, she has been living in Kelowna for 5 years, a city that she loves. She is passionate and enjoys teaching in a playful way to people of all ages. She has a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in psychology. She enjoys playing volleyball and skiing at Big White.

Josh is a Certified Teacher, having completed his Bachelor of Education at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. Having an Undergraduate Degree in Biology and a Minor in English Literature gives him backgrounds in Science, Math, and Language Arts to draw from as a tutor. He believes in having a strong relationship with students as a means to build their confidence, using their interests to inspire their curiosity, and developing good study habits. Alongside learning all sorts of weird and wonderful trivia, Josh also enjoys playing guitar, creating and performing songs, playing video games, badminton, and being awestruck by the vastness of space.

Kate is a certified teacher in British Columbia, Ontario and Australia. She grew up in Toronto, Ontario and completed the Concurrent Education program at Nipissing University. Graduating with a Bachelor of Honors Psychology and a Bachelor of Education. As well, she completed a Postgraduate course in Special Education and is currently finishing her Masters of Education and Technology. It was during her volunteer teaching experience in Costa Rica that she grew a passion for Special Education and encouraging diverse learners.

Kate moved to British Columbia just over a year ago due to her love of nature, travel, and passion for continuing her learning. During the summer months, Kate does online and in-person tutoring and has previously worked running a horseback riding camp for children.

Kate believes that by building a strong relationship with her students and understanding their abilities, she is better able to meet their needs and grow their knowledge. She also places importance on developing the whole learner, incorporating social and life skills and student interests into her teaching. Kate’s favorite subjects to teach are math, art, and social studies. Kate finds education very rewarding, she greatly enjoys working with children and teens and hopes to continue growing her personal experiences and knowledge.

Keith Robinson is a professionally certified teacher with more than thirty years’ teaching experience. He grew up in Vancouver, where he developed a keen interest in marine biology. After earning a degree in Biology from UBC, he spent several years working on various research projects at sea, through the Pacific Biological Station in Nanaimo. In the mid-1980s, he decided to go into high school teaching, where he could share his love of science with young people. His teaching career has seen him engaged with students in high school laboratories in northern Canada, and more recently online. His repertoire includes all senior levels of Biology, Chemistry, Math, Physics, Earth Science, and Junior Science.

During his teaching career, Keith’s expertise has been frequently sought by the Ministry of Education on matters related to curriculum, learning resources, and testing. And recently, Keith returned to university, earning his MSc at Royal Roads in Victoria.

No longer in the school lab, Keith Robinson continues to author online courses and to teach senior Chemistry part-time online, where he greatly enjoys connecting with students virtually and helping them achieve their goals. When he is not teaching, Keith can be found cycling and skating the ski trails around Kelowna. During down times, he reads a lot—mostly Tolkien, CS Lewis, Orwell, and Russian literature in translation.

Meet Maria Cristina Albuquerque, a biologist and educator with teaching experience in Canada and Brazil. Maria grew up in Brazil where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Education from Universidade de Brasilia. There she taught high school students biology and tutored kids, youth, and adults all subjects and English as a second language. Maria then moved to Vancouver to work toward her Graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction Foundations program from Simon Fraser University where she graduated in Jan 2022. Maria has also taught University students designs for elementary and high school sciences at the SFU’s Teaching Program. Maria recently taught biology, sciences, and math to grade k-12 students in Yellowknife, NT.

She has been able to make her students really fall in love with sciences by supporting their interests and igniting their curiosity about the living organisms around them. With kindness and enthusiasm, Maria strives to make learning a fun and comfortable experience for both the student and their families.

Outside the classrooms, Maria shares her passion for whales by facilitating whale watching tours in BC’s coast during the summer season. Maria’s diverse experience has allowed her to be flexible and adaptable with all students. She offers a caring, positive, and exciting tutoring time! In her spare time, Maria loves going on walks with her dog, traveling, photographing wildlife, and watching movies. You can catch Maria with a big smile on her face, encouraging and helping someone to uncover the beauty of the natural world.

Mikayla grew up and studied in Prince Edward Island, Canada. In 2017, she graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and English. During this degree she took an Introduction to Education course as an elective; this is where her passion for education and teaching was born. She went on to complete a Bachelor of Education degree, specializing in Elementary, Indigenous, and International Education, also with UPEI. As a part of her Bachelor of Education degree she had the opportunity to travel to New Zealand to complete her practicum. This opened her eyes to new teaching methodologies and incorporating cultural awareness in the classroom. It also fostered a deep love of travel and openness to new experiences. Since 2018, Mikayla has taught in classrooms from K-9. She has experience with all subjects in the elementary curriculum, but her passion lies with literacy. This past year, Mikayla worked with students both in school and also after school as a tutor, with students who needed extra support in literacy. It was the favorite part of her day to meet with these students and build their confidence and skills in both reading and writing. Her approach is student centered, focusing on students strengths and interests. Her belief is that learning should be engaging, positive, and approachable. Mikayla loves teaching so much that she is constantly practicing at home teaching her dog, Gunner, lots of new tricks.

Nava is a certified teacher who graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She also holds an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood and is currently working on her Montessori certification. Nava has taught internationally as well as in Canada and the United States. She has had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students from different backgrounds and enjoys instilling a love of learning in her students. Nava enjoys baking, making jewelry and would like to travel more in the future. Nava enjoys discovering techniques to help her students better understand the content.

Nikki is passionate about inclusive learning and has a talent for making learning materials come alive for both kids and adults. Currently attending the University of the Fraser Valley specializing in Adult Education, she has discovered a passion for Literacy and Teaching English as a Second language at all levels. She also has pursued Professional Tutoring qualifications through the National Tutoring Association as a Certified Intermediate Tutor. Currently an Instructor at the Centre for Arts & Technology teaching Professional Development courses. Nikki has lived in many places across Western Canada and has stayed in Kelowna for the fishing and vast hiking opportunities. A huge fan of YLW tacos, you can catch her tutoring both online and in-person with a huge focus on helping students and parents reach educational goals.

Noah graduated from the University of British Columbia Okanagan with a Bachelor of
Mechanical Engineering. This was followed by a Master of Applied Science, specialization in
Mechanical Engineering, at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. He performed
research in the Laboratory of Solar Energy and Fuels studying the fabrication of the materials
used to create thin-film solar cells, an emerging renewable energy technology. Noah has held
previous tutor positions for students at the high school level, as well as worked as a teaching
assistant for multiple courses during his post graduate study. Noah currently works as a math and science tutor in the Okanagan, fostering a passion for teaching and continual learning. In his spare time, he enjoys running, cycling, and rock climbing.

Olivia, a certified teacher based in British Columbia. Her educational journey includes completing public education in the Okanagan and earning a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia. Before pursuing Education, Olivia majored in History and minored in French. Passionate about lifelong learning, Olivia recently achieved her beginner yoga teacher certification and has future plans for a Master’s in Counselling.

Early on, she discovered her love for working with children, gaining experience in tutoring and nannying. Olivia’s expertise extends from elementary to high school, encompassing students with diverse needs.

Hi, my name is Parker T, I have been tutoring STEM courses for the last 10 years. I have my Bachelor of Science majoring in; Biochemistry Medical and Molecular Biology option with a dual major in Psychology. I am starting my first year at UBC’s Medical Doctor program. Racquel holds a BC Teaching Certificate and a Bachelor of Education Degree in Primary Education from the International University of The Caribbean in Kingston, Jamaica. Racquel has taught grades 2 -9 throughout her 12 years of teaching in Jamaica.

Upon migrating to Canada over six years ago, Racquel has worked as an Early Childhood Assistant with the YMCA of the Okanagan prior to relocating to northern BC to chase her goal of continuing in her profession as an elementary teacher; a role she continues to enjoy today. Ravi completed his Masters in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Material Science from University of Saskatchewan. While at University, he also worked as a laboratory assistant for first year students teaching Mathematics & Physics. He continued at UofS as a Research Assistant in Nuclear materials and published several research articles. He then worked as a Mechanical Engineer at a reputed agricultural equipment company in Saskatchewan. Ravi moved to Kelowna, BC to start his new role as a Mechanical Engineer at an Electrical Vehicle component manufacturing company. He has experience teaching Mathematics to Grade 11 students. He is very passionate about teaching and sharing knowledge to those willing to learn. He enjoys spending time outdoors with family and loves exploring trails and hiking.

Saje is a Certified Teacher. She graduated from Mount Royal University in the spring of 2022, with a Bachelor of Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish Languages and Hispanic Cultures. She completed her final teaching internship with Calgary Academy, where she taught Grade 2 students. Throughout her field experiences and practicum placements, Saje has experience teaching at every grade level. Saje believes in the importance of decolonizing our classrooms, schools and curriculums and successfully completed her final capstone project titled “Roses of Reconciliation: the Art of un-Learning”. Through collaboration alongside Indigenous communities, authentically and respectfully incorporating Indigenous voices and resources into the classroom, and working with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, Saje strives to model decolonization and teach students their role in reconciliation.

Saje‘Slove for working with youth was fostered at a young age, when she became a camp counselor for 8 consecutive summers. Saje spent her summers working at Camp Cadicasu, where she would instill love, wonder, curiosity and appreciation for nature with youth. She initially began her studies of Education at the University of Saskatchewan, where she studied for one year before transferring to Mount Royal University. After five years of pursuing her dream, Saje made the decision to teach abroad. She worked as a grade one teacher at a private school in Guadalajara, Mexico and fell in love with the culture and school. Additionally, Saje has experience private tutoring at varying ages and subject areas. While tutoring, Saje fosters a safe and inclusive learning environment where the learner feels comfortable taking learning risks and exploring new challenges. Sarah MacDonald is a Certified Elementary and Core French Teacher. She is borrowed by the mountains, but belongs to the ocean, as she grew up on the East Coast in Nova Scotia. Sarah graduated high school with French Immersion and her DELF French Proficiency Certificate. She went on to complete both her Bachelor of Kinesiology (‘18) and Bachelor of Education (‘20) at Acadia University.

Sarah has 3 full-time years of classroom teaching under her belt, with a wide range of grade levels and subjects taught. Most of her time has been spent teaching grade 6 (all subjects), and grades 4-9 core French. She has also taught junior high social studies, art, and health, as well as K-3 English Language Arts.

Sarah’s teaching experience goes beyond the four classroom walls. She is also a certified swim instructor, and spent the summer working for WETS Kelowna, and she teaches highland dance.

With this range of ages and abilities, Sarah recognizes that building relationships and ensuring students feel they play an active role in their learning is a major key to success. She understands each child learns differently and makes it a priority to engage learners in ways that make sense for them.

Susie G. is a K-12 BC certified teacher who specializes in secondary Humanities (English Literature, Social Studies, Political Science), Literacy (especially for young and/or struggling learners), Special and Inclusive education as well as Teaching Speakers of Other Languages.

I began my teaching career in South Korea where I eventually opened an English language academy that grew to have over 200 learners ages preschool to adult. I completed a diploma in Teaching Speakers of Other Languages in that time. Upon my return to Canada, I completed a Bachelor of Education degree and a diploma in Special and Inclusive Education. I have much experience teaching literacy at all levels and recognize the benefits of structured reading programs for struggling readers. I also believe that creating engaging lessons based on learner interests, strengths and needs is key to motivating learners as well as realizing goals. Playful, engaging, goal-driven lessons is what you can expect from my teaching.
