Jeremy R. Smith, PhD, received his doctorate in theory and criticism from Western University. Kobby Paintsil has lived in London for 8 years and attended a French high school, making him comfortable in both English and French. Currently, Kobby is in his final year at Western University, studying One Health and Pathology, and hopes to enter graduate school for public health or epidemiology. Kobby enjoys volunteer work and has contributed many hours to his community, giving him a well-rounded background in community service. Volunteering is how he first started teaching, and he’s had the opportunity a tutor for various local groups, such as the Ghanaian Association of London and Middlesex and the London Public Library. Leanna is a Certified Teacher who grew up in Oakville, Ontario, and developed a passion for teaching through years of coaching tennis. While completing her undergraduate degree in Media, Information, and Technoculture at Western University, she competed on Western’s varsity tennis team, an experience that strengthened her leadership skills and love of mentorship. Through her time as both a player and now a coach, as well as her extensive coaching background, Leanna discovered that working with children, building their confidence, skills, and love of learning, was where she thrived most. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Education at Western University in the Primary/Junior division, graduating in June 2025. Through placements in a Grade 2/3 classroom at Bonaventure Meadows PS and a Grade 5/6 classroom at Wortley Road PS, Leanna gained valuable experience teaching across multiple grade levels and adapting to a wide range of learning styles. Her coaching background strongly shapes her teaching philosophy, emphasizing patience, encouragement, goal-setting, and meaningful student relationships.

Makayla is a fourth-year pre-law student completing a double major in Psychology and Philosophy at Western University, where she is on the Dean’s Honour List. Marieke is an Ontario Certified Teacher, qualified to teach Kindergarten through Grade 12. She currently teaches Grade 7/8 with the London District Catholic School Board. Marieke earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and her Bachelor of Education from Western University in London, Ontario. In addition to her classroom experience, she has spent the past two years tutoring students one on one, helping them strengthen their skills and build confidence in their learning. She is fluent in English, French, and Dutch, and enjoys working with learners of all ages. Michael is a third-year undergraduate student at Western University pursuing an Honours Double Major in Biochemistry and Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences. An aspiring physician with a passion for learning, he was recognized with AP Calculus and Statistics awards in 2023, scoring top marks on AP exams, and has since maintained a near-perfect 3.94 GPA. Since 2019, Michael has worked in education, serving as a teaching assistant at Spirit of Math Schools and Villanova College, as well as a private tutor. As a math and science mentor, he teaches with enthusiasm, inspiring students to approach science with curiosity and discovery. Outside academics, Michael enjoys playing the saxophone, chess, golf, and biking. Michael Orrett is a pending Ontario Certified Secondary Teacher. He grew up in Whitby, Ontario and completed an Undergraduate Degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Waterloo in 2024. He earned a Graduate Diploma in Secondary School Teaching from the Auckland University of Technology in 2025. Michael has over ten (10) years of experience teaching and mentoring diverse learners, from his time as a tennis club professional coaching at the Fenelon Falls Tennis Club, to teaching first-year Chemical Engineering Students at the University of Waterloo. During his teaching practicum in New Zealand, he taught Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry to students from Grades 8 to 12 at Westlake Boys High School and Glenfield College. His experiences in these schools deepened his appreciation for culturally responsive and relationship-focused teaching. Michael believes that by building strong relationships and fostering curiosity, students can develop both confidence and a genuine love of learning. He continues to refine his teaching practice to help students connect their learning to the real world through inquiry, problem-solving, and creativity.

Miguel graduated from Cornell University, where he earned a B.A. summa cum laude in computer science with a minor in mathematics, as well as an M.Eng. in computer science. During his time at Cornell, he spent five semesters working as a teaching assistant in computer science and one semester working as a math tutor at the Math Support Center on campus, where he developed a passion for helping students learn in a one-on-one environment. As a lifelong lover of math and computing, Miguel hopes to help students learn and grow in these subjects.

In his free time, Miguel enjoys playing video games, practicing martial arts, rock climbing, and reading One Piece. He has also traveled to countries such as Japan (he speaks Japanese!), China, Norway, Sweden, and Serbia.

Monica is a recent graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University, where she earned an Honours BA in English and History with high distinction and a consistent place on the Dean’s Honour Roll. With two years of experience in museum education, Monica successfully developed engaging, inclusive, hands-on learning experiences that cater to diverse audiences. Monica is now continuing her education journey through Western University’s Teacher Education program, specializing in the Intermediate/Senior division. Ricky is a Teacher Candidate at Western University, he previously received his B.A. Sc and M.A. Sc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Sela is currently in her final year of her Honours Business Administration degree at Richard Ivey School of Business and Huron University. She is going into her Masters in International Business with Ivey in January 2026. She has taught English and North American cultural studies to Cornell University Graduate International Students with MeeOpp tutoring company, and has travelled to India with Ivey Business School’s LEADER Project to teach a two-week business course to undergraduate students and corporate representatives, including strategy, finance, marketing, operations, and other business fundamentals. Upa (pronounced: oo-pa) Mehta grew up in London, ON where she attended Western University for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and then worked in healthcare for several years before attending Western University again for teachers’ college in the primary/junior division (kindergarten to grade 6). From her previous career, Upa is bringing her experience of teaching others empowering skills, encouragement, positivity, and building caring relationships.

As an educator, Upa values being able to provide lessons that are accessible, engaging, interactive, and incorporate student interest where possible. Supervising teachers have commented on her excited lesson delivery in engaging students. Veronika grew up in Vancouver BC where she attended UBC, majoring in Microbiology and Immunology and is currently pursuing her master’s in occupational therapy at the University of Western Ontario in London, ON.
