This experience landed her her first job on a Hutterite colony in rural Manitoba teaching English as a second language students. Hello! My name is Brooke. I am currently in my third year teaching. I graduated from l’Université de Saint Boniface with a major in French and a minor in Anthropology. I then received my education degree at the University of Manitoba with a specialization in EarlyYears. I have experience with a variety of ages, ranging form grades 1 to 6.

I love to read and appreciate a good Netflix show so I love to integrate books and media into my lessons to build engagement.

Carrie has been an elementary educator in Winnipeg since 2009, after completing her Bachelor of Education at the University of Manitoba in the Early Years stream. She has taught every primary grade from Kindergarten through Grade 5, working with the diverse needs and developmental abilities in children of all ages and levels. In 2017 Carrie completed her Post-baccalaureate in Indigenous Knowledge at the University of Winnipeg, an experience that further allowed her to adapt her teaching style to encompass many ways of knowing and learning. Hi my name is Courtney. I have been working in the education profession for around nine years, seven years as a French educational assistant and I am currently one of the Physical Education teacher at Amber Trails. I have a Bachelor of Physical Education with a minor in biology, however math, social studies, and French have been some of my stronger school subjects. I am fluent in French as I was in Immersion until grade 12, took a couple university level classes, and I currently keep my abilities up to date by taking night classes offered by the University of St. Boniface. Daniel has been teaching and coaching for the past five years. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and he is currently pursuing his Master’s degree, both at the University of Manitoba. His teaching experience includes being involved in several science and engineering courses at the University of Manitoba, from highly technical courses such as Machine Design or Statistics to “soft skills” courses like Professional Communication and Technical Writing courses. Daniel’s research interests are directly tied to the how of education, and his work seeks to improve the education experience of all learners. Daniel loves working with others to solve problems, and one area that he enjoys volunteering his time is with the Provincial U19 boys Ultimate Frisbee team as a head coach. He also plays Ultimate himself, competing at national and international tournaments.

I was born and raised in Winnipeg and have been fortunate enough to have lived, and worked, all over Canada teaching French Immersion and English-stream courses from Math and Social Studies to Chemistry and Français. I enjoy teaching as much today as I did when I began 35 years ago.

Dinis holds a BÉd (Francophone Sector) from the University of Ottawa and has lived and taught in France for several years. He also holds a Double Honours B.A. in French and History from the University of Winnipeg and completed the Entrepreneurial Masters Program at MIT. Dinis has taught, coached and been an entrepreneur for over 10 years and is fluent in four languages. I received my Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Manitoba in 2018. Since then I have been teaching courses in the Departments of Microbiology and Biological Sciences at the U of M. Before university I attended elementary and high school in a French immersion program.

I have always been a band geek and still play trumpet in a community jazz band. I play ultimate frisbee and I curl. I am also a mom to a little girl. I am a nerd who loves reading books in the fantasy genre and playing board games.

Emma is in her last two years of the Integrated Education Program at the University of Winnipeg, specializing in French, English and Math. She perfected her French on exchange trips to Quebec and France while completing her Honours degree in French. Her goal is to teach in a French immersion elementary school; however, she already has 8 years of experience tutoring grades 4-12. Emma believes in building a strong relationship with students before being able to teach and learn together. She tries to connect school subjects to real life so students can have a deeper interest and understanding of what they are learning. Hi there! I am Gabriella, but please feel free to call me Gabby! I am currently a teacher candidate at The University of Winnipeg where I am working towards fulfilling my lifelong dream of becoming a Math educator. I also have my Bachelor of Science with a major in Mathematics and minor in English. So, I love numbers and words! Math education is something I am very passionate about, and I believe that is something you will notice as I teach. I often hear people tell me that they are simply just not a “math person”, and I disagree with that statement strongly. I believe with proper instruction and the right mind set, everybody has the ability to succeed in Math. Math takes practice; much like how sports require practice. The more you practice, the better and more confident you will become! Apart from Math, I also love to teach English. I believe the two most important skills are both numeracy and literacy. Hello! I am Jordan (he/him), or Mr. Lasuik if you prefer. I received both my Bachelor and Master’s of Science at the University of Manitoba. My main areas of study were Physics, Math, and Philosophy. I am currently getting my Bachelor of Education to become a teacher, though I already have years of teaching and tutoring experience that I gained while working for the UofM. I specialize in middle and high school education, as well as university level classes.

I like to think that above all I am a friendly person who is easy to get along with. This has always been an asset to me in helping my students learn. I believe that students need to want to learn if they are going to succeed in doing so. Having someone who can make the learning process as stress free as possible is very important. I always tailor my tutoring so that my students are pushing themselves without wearing themselves out.

I keep up on current research in the field of education so I am always learning new and better methods of teaching. I want to make sure my students are getting the very best education that they can. I find that tutoring is quite different from teaching in that you get the chance to adapt your teaching style quite precisely in order to fit the unique needs of your student, and that is what I find so amazing about it. Thomas Toles is a Rhodes Scholar with an M.Sc. in Education and an M.St. in Film Aesthetics from the University of Oxford. He also holds a Double Honours B.A. in English and Pschology from the University of Manitoba.
