Curriculum-Based Tutoring in Mississauga & Milton
Public schools in Mississauga and Milton are operated under the Peel and Halton District School Boards, which abides by the Ontario Curriculum as outlined by the Ontario Ministry of Education. Our team of local certified tutors in and around Mississauga and Milton provides tutoring based on this curriculum.
Our tutors are able to provide students with the extra tools they need to succeed in their standardized classrooms. If your child has gaps in knowledge, we return to the given topic to ensure they are able to comprehend the material and apply it in a classroom setting.
When students learn curriculum material at home before they learn it in the classroom, they are able to address this material more confidently.
Children between the ages of 0 to 14 account for 18% of the Peel Region population. This makes Peel Region home to the second-highest population of children in this age demographic.
Our tutors educate in alignment with the Ontario curriculum practiced by the Peel Region so that these students can receive any extra support they need to understand the course material. The Wilson Reading System: This program is designed with the specific educational needs of students with dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities in mind. To improve literacy, this program uses the Orton-Gillingham approach. Through this program, we focus on multi-sensory instruction to improve and develop literacy retention and comprehension.
Direct Instruction Reading Mastery Program: This program is taught with a 90% focus on review to help students build long-term retention and speed up their learning. By focusing on small increments of learning in each lesson, we are able to teach students quickly and effectively.

About
I am a Primary Junior/Intermediate qualified teacher working with Peel District School Board. My extensive educational background and my ability to speak fluent French, Italian, Arabic, Fulani, and Wolof make me an excellent asset for your French Language Programs. In addition, having lived in three continents has provided me with numerous opportunities to enhance my communication skills thereby making me a strong and a viable candidate to your team. As a Glendon College graduate with a Bilingual Degree with qualifications in French as a Second Language, I am a strong promoter of French as a Second Language.
My role as a classroom teacher has allowed me to work collaboratively with classroom teachers to plan, teach and implement a variety of lessons that incorporated balanced literacy, and differentiated instruction. In addition, I had numerous opportunities to use a variety of learning and assessment strategies to effectively support learners. My involvement in a number of community building events (tutoring with the board and Literacy Nights) allowed me to establish and maintain many positive working relationships with the parent community of the school. She graduated from York University’s Concurrent Teacher Education Program in 2006 with Primary/Junior qualifications and an Urban Education certificate. After graduation, Amanda also obtained her Intermediate qualification, and has supported students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 10. These positions have included Lead Special Education Teacher, Contact Teacher, Intermediate Math Lead, Equity Lead Teacher, and Intensive Support Program Teacher, among many others. Amanda has presented workshops on a variety of topics to teacher colleagues, families, administrators, and superintendents, and she has run culturally-based programming for elementary Indigenous students in PDSB. As the parent of two autistic children with very different support needs, and as someone who has been diagnosed with both ADHD and autism herself, Amanda is passionate about empowering learners of all ages to become strong self-advocates. Pedagogically, she values truly getting to know her learners and believes mutually positive relationships are the basis of teacher-learner success.

About
Mashiat, (or Mash, which she likes to be called), is a recent OISE Masters of Teaching candidate on route to get her official Ontario Teaching Certification (OCT)! Two years ago, Mash started her own martial arts program in Mississauga and has been growing it since. She teaches karate to a group of talented young children, and dreams about opening up her own school. Mash has been doing and teaching martial arts/fitness for over 8 years, and this is what inspired her to become a classroom teacher. She specializes in teaching English and Writing in the Junior/Intermediate stream, but loves teaching science and social studies, as well. She’s currently working on acquiring additional qualifications to become a science teacher!
Mash speaks English, Bengali, Hindi, and has taken classes in Japanese. (By no means an expert, but she’s working on it). She did an “overseas” internship over the summer of peak COVID years, so it was definitely online, where she tutored Japanese university students who wanted to learn English. On top of this, Mash believes that children are the future of this whole world. It is her goal in life to make an impact and help them not only be successful in their education, but to help them believe in themselves and their potential. As she’s on her way to become an official classroom teacher, she’s looking to grow herself by tutoring and giving back to her community. She doesn’t particularly enjoy writing about herself in the third person, so she hopes soon she will meet you in person to have an in depth conversation. She can’t wait to get started!

About
Shannon has dedicated 11 years to teaching mathematics in secondary schools. Originally from the United States, she moved to Australia during her teenage years, where she pursued her education with enthusiasm. Shannon completed a combined Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics—simply for the joy of it—and philosophy—because she had the opportunity. Her passion for philosophy led her to further her studies, culminating in a Master’s Degree. She then rounded out her formal education by earning a Graduate Diploma of Education in Secondary Mathematics Teaching.
Shannon views mathematics as a powerful lens through which to understand the world, and her teaching philosophy revolves around helping students access this perspective. Her engaging approach not only demystifies mathematical concepts but also inspires a love for the subject. Outside of her professional life, Shannon has a playful side; she often finds herself humming catchy tunes from the ’90s and enjoys playing the “ten game” with bus numbers during her commutes. She also has plans to put her new pair of jogging shoes to good use, reflecting her belief in maintaining a balanced and active lifestyle. Through her multifaceted interests, Shannon embodies a vibrant blend of intellect and creativity, making her a dynamic presence both in and out of the classroom.

As a teacher, I appreciate the difficulty that comes with finding a tutor who can meet your child’s academic and learning needs. Being well versed in the curriculum is a fundamental part of the tutoring process. Over the years we’ve been blessed to have good tutors in our lives, however finding a solid tutor at the high school level has been quite difficult. We feel greatly blessed to have found Prep Academy Tutors in Mississauga. Further to that, our current tutor, has not only explained math concepts to both my children (grade 10 & 12), she has done it in a way that allows them to understand it based on how they each learn. She is caring, extremely flexible, comes to our house and provides amazing feedback. She is so beyond amazing, my kids actually look forward to their tutoring sessions with her. I cannot express enough, how thankful I am to have her in my kids academic journey and I highly recommend this tutoring company.

My son needed to achieve a certain minimum mark in advanced functions to ensure his place in a post secondary programme. The tutoring he received filled in a few blanks that were missing and he improved his mark far beyond what he needed. Perhaps more importantly it gave him confidence that math isn’t as hard as he had been telling himself and that he will be able to figure out and excel at the math he will have to do in University. Thank you!!
