Our team of local certified tutors in and around Mississauga and Milton provides tutoring based on this curriculum.
Our tutors are able to provide students with the extra tools they need to succeed in their standardized classrooms. If your child has gaps in knowledge, we return to the given topic to ensure they are able to comprehend the material and apply it in a classroom setting.
When students learn curriculum material at home before they learn it in the classroom, they are able to address this material more confidently.
Children between the ages of 0 to 14 account for 18% of the Peel Region population. This makes Peel Region home to the second-highest population of children in this age demographic.

The Wilson Reading System: This program is designed with the specific educational needs of students with dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities in mind. Direct Instruction Reading Mastery Program: This program is taught with a 90% focus on review to help students build long-term retention and speed up their learning. By focusing on small increments of learning in each lesson, we are able to teach students quickly and effectively.

About
Hi. My name is Abisha. I completed my Bachelors of Education degree at Brock University. I have a background in Child and Youth Care and am certified by the Ontario College of Teachers. I obtained my Bachelors of Arts degree at Ryerson University majoring in Child and Youth Care and minoring in Psychology.
Every child has the ability to succeed. I thoroughly enjoy working one-on-one with students to help them achieve their full potential. My educational approach is to identify each student’s learning style and then work to accommodate the students’ areas of strengths and needs through a program catered to each individual student. I believe that teaching requires collaboration between educators and students. For students to become both motivated and inspired to learn, I believe they should always be given the time to explore, be creative, ask questions, and become critical thinkers.
During my teen years, I spent many hours of my time volunteering at multiple elementary schools and at a hospital in the Pediatric ward. Throughout the summer, I worked as a camp counsellor and truly learned my passion for children and teaching. I enjoy inspiring children to be the best they can and love to help children learn skills that will help them in their future.

DEREK W.

Grades
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12
About
My objective is to become a highly skilled and effective teacher who will have a positive impact on students’ learning/lives. While employed with Prep Academy Tutors (PAT), I shall strive to provide students with learning experiences that are enriching, meaningful and above all, fun. My mission is to create a learning environment that is safe, accepting, cultivates a space for dialogue, as well as two-way learning (i.e., a teacher and student learn from one another).
Originally, I had intended to pursue teaching a decade earlier right after I graduated high school, but life circumstances took me down a different path. As an undergraduate at York University, I studied criminology and law & society as my double major with the intent of going to law school. However, I soon realized that I did not possess the passion to pursue a career in law and revisited my interest in teaching. After a few years of intensive work and reflection, I am now in my second year of teacher’s college at OISE — the University of Toronto’s education school. Indeed, one can say that my life has come full circle. If I had not received the support and guidance my teacher-mentors and professors provided me along the way, I might not have rediscovered my passion for teaching.
Something one of my grandfathers said to me over the years has stuck with me: “Education is not a destination, but a continuing journey.” This motto has informed my outlook on life, learning and teaching. With that in mind, I am excited to embark on this journey as a member of PAT’s team.

Reviews
As a teacher, I appreciate the difficulty that comes with finding a tutor who can meet your child’s academic and learning needs. Being well versed in the curriculum is a fundamental part of the tutoring process. Over the years we’ve been blessed to have good tutors in our lives, however finding a solid tutor at the high school level has been quite difficult. We feel greatly blessed to have found Prep Academy Tutors in Mississauga. Further to that, our current tutor, has not only explained math concepts to both my children (grade 10 & 12), she has done it in a way that allows them to understand it based on how they each learn. She is caring, extremely flexible, comes to our house and provides amazing feedback. She is so beyond amazing, my kids actually look forward to their tutoring sessions with her. I cannot express enough, how thankful I am to have her in my kids academic journey and I highly recommend this tutoring company.

My son needed to achieve a certain minimum mark in advanced functions to ensure his place in a post secondary programme. The tutoring he received filled in a few blanks that were missing and he improved his mark far beyond what he needed. Perhaps more importantly it gave him confidence that math isn’t as hard as he had been telling himself and that he will be able to figure out and excel at the math he will have to do in University. Thank you!!
