Abigail was raised in a homeschool family and encouraged in her love of music. Through high school she gave music lessons to children, then she studied music education at Baylor. Annie is a current MD/PhD student at UT Health San Antonio. She holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Tech and an M.S. in Medical Science from UNT Health Science Center. She has tutored and taught math, science, and engineering courses since 2012. Annie enjoys one-on-one or small group interactions, preferring to personalize her tutoring to the student(s). Jeremy is a certified Physics/Mathematics, and Technology Education teacher. He grew up in San Antonio, TX, moving to San Marcos to complete an undergraduate degree in Sound Recording Technology. While working on his bachelor degree, Jeremy found a job as an AVID tutor for junior high and high school students, and this was where he first got a taste of working in the classroom. Next, he then spent a year as a graduate student abroad at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, before returning to Texas to finish his masters degree in International Studies. Jeremy grew up with a deep love of travel and took the opportunity to explore the world during and after college. He had always thought about teaching full time, and it wasn’t until the covid pandemic after being stuck at home that he decided to take the leap and join the teaching field. During his time as a teacher, Jeremy has also sponsored the student guitar club on his campus, and co-sponsored the Science Bowl team. Jordan is certified through the Texas Education Agency in Mathematics, grade levels 4 through 12. Jordan has 10 years of experience teaching in the public school system, charter school system, and private tutoring. Katherine (Kat) graduated from Alliant International University (online study) in 2021 with a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. She spent a few years working in higher education in financial aid and, later, in a registrar’s office.  Since 2019 she has also worked as an online tutor for Russian students, ages ranging from 4 to 45.  In the past students have received training for interview skills, spoken English practice, preparing for international exams, grammar, and much more!  Her passion is to inspire students and engage them in the subject matter they are studying.

Mrs. Maggie B. has been a teacher and school administrator for 19 years and she loves to watch students succeed and grow. She has a bachelor’s degree in Literature from The University of North Florida and a Masters degree from The University of Texas San Antonio in Educational leadership and Curriculum & Instruction. She spent much of her own school days in Europe where she formed a love for traveling and other cultures. That love translated into her classroom when she traveled with her students to numerous countries and showed them the world! In the classroom, she taught high school English, writing, drama and acting. She has been a middle and high school administrator and, one of her favorite things, a coach for teachers as they improve their craft. Marilyn is a Texas certified secondary education/ biology/ chemistry/composite science teacher since 1992. She has taught many different sciences and medical courses to diverse students in high school and college. She has a Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, a M.A. in Molecular Biology, and a B.S. in Honors Zoology. Matt C. is a retired, certified math teacher with 25 years of teaching experience. He spent 20 of those years at Churchill High School, where he also served as the AVID Coordinator for 17 years. Matt holds a BA in Accounting from Texas Lutheran University and an MA in Education with a minor in Math from the University of the Incarnate Word. Before transitioning to education, Matt worked for 10 years as an accountant and CPA, but his passion for helping others inspired him to pursue a career in teaching. As the AVID Coordinator, Matt became highly skilled in teaching AVID strategies, such as time management, note-taking, organization, and inquiry-based tutoring, all aimed at improving student success. Matthew R. is a tutor and high school substitute teacher. He has lived in San Antonio since 2016 and completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology at the University of the Incarnate Word with a minor in Spanish Proficiency. Melanie W. is a certified teacher in Texas. She grew up just outside of Philadelphia where she completed her early years of education as well as her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Widener University. (Yes, she is a Philadelphia Eagles fan) She then moved to San Antonio, Texas to pursue her dream in teaching. She received her Master’s degree at St. Mary’s University and immediately began working as a 7th and 8th grade history teacher. As a teacher she was able to build relationships with her students, which ultimately led to tutoring students who were struggling in their classes. Melanie has a way with making students feel comfortable to let their guard down and not feel like a failure if they don’t know the answer. Hello, my name is Mia G. and I have been tutoring since 2021. I graduated from St. Mary’s University in December 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in psychology. I have experience tutoring all grades from preschool to seniors in college. I specialize in tutoring biology, psychology and English, but I have tutored all subjects. I can also tutor people who are interested in cooking and baking, dance, and college admissions. I have experience working with students who have anxiety, ADHD, Autism and Down Syndrome. Her spare time is spent reading and learning new things to grow professionally and in her personal life. Originally from Chicago, Rolando moved to San Antonio where he recently completed a 20-year career at the community college level. He was part of a group that traveled to Bahrain and Qatar in order to raise awareness, understanding, and cooperation between educators in the United States and the Middle East.  Also, as a part of a volunteer mission, Rolando participated in a trip to provide economics and business practice workshops in Peru. In addition, he was a guest lecturer at The Hague University for six-month period. Finally, Rolando traveled to Cuba to explore the possibility of conducting research about entrepreneurs. As a result of his travels, Rolando considers himself to be a global learner and strives to impart that knowledge and experience to his students. I am an educator with 33 years of experience. I have taught Kindergarten, Second grade, Fourth grade, and Fifth grade, all subjects. I have also taught Sixth and Seventh grade reading and English. I am currently teaching Eighth grade American History and have been for five years. I have also been a Librarian at the Elementary level and the Middle School level. The majority of my teaching experience has been at the Elementary level, but I do love Middle School. I am an avid reader and I believe that if you think you don’t like to read, you just haven’t found the right book yet!

I was born and raised in San Antonio and graduated from UTSA with my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I attended the University of North Texas where I earned my master’s degree in Library Informational Science.

I have a busy family life with my husband of 32 years; we were high school sweethearts. We have two adult sons who are married, one teenage daughter, one six-year-old granddaughter, one more grandchild on the way, and two rescue puppies.

I grew up in McAllen, TX but have been in San Antonio the last 19 years so I consider myself an SA local. I have my BS in Mathematics from the University of Texas San Antonio and Masters in Edu from Southern New Hampshire University. Valentin is originally from El Paso, TX. He is currently in his 20th year teaching high school math. He has taught from pre-Algebra all the way to AP Calculus.
