Abigail was raised in a homeschool family and encouraged in her love of music. Through high school she gave music lessons to children, then she studied music education at Baylor. She has taught in classrooms and tutored privately students from kindergarten through seventh grade. Abigail cares deeply for the kids she works with and is passionate about helping students who struggle. In her free time she enjoys snuggling with her cat, Rory, playing with her two little nieces, and playing the most complex board games she can find.

Hello, I’m Adeola, a college student with a passion for nursing and biology. Amy S-K. graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a minor in mathematics. Amy Serda-King has 20 years of teaching experience and is currently teaching middle school mathematics. Amy believes that by establishing a positive rapport with her students, she is better able to identify their areas of need to better serve each student. She loves working with children, providing one on one instruction and building confidence in their math skills. Andre T. is a professional academic tutor who holds most of his degrees from the University of Texas system in Far East Asian History and Foreign Languages. He is also currently enrolled as a Doctoral student at the University of Phoenix, pursuing an Ed.D in Education with a specialization in Virtual Reality Educational Technology. Andre has had the distinct privilege of studying all over the world. His specialty is in Far East Asian dialects, having studied extensively in China, Japan, and S. Korea. In his free time he is an avid enthusiast of the great outdoors enjoying hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, etc. As a martial artist, with 45+ years of experience, he serves as an adjunct/civilian instructor for law enforcement officers in self-defense tactics. He served seven years as a law enforcement officer. As an amateur Musician, he plays several instruments but his absolute favorite is playing blues music which he plays on his beloved guitar, Blu Eponine. Music, Reading, and Art are also very great passions of his. He is a huge fan of Far East Asian Cinema. He is quite the ‘otaku’ which is Japanese for a Manga and Anime fan. Since 1999, he has instructed courses in every area of the US, Far East Asia, and various Military Histories.

Andre is also an Advanced Facilitator and Faculty for the College of Humanities University of Phoenix.  He is presently certified to teach in multiple University level courses of US and World History, World Civilization, Philosophy, Political Science, Economics, and Psychology. He has collaborated and developed courses and curriculums for all Undergraduate and Graduate levels and written and developed exams for all college-level courses under these disciplines.

Anita M. is a Texas Certified teacher.  She was born in San Antonio, TX. and Valedictorian of her high school.  Anita went on to be a teacher, teacher trainer and now, in retirement, a tutor.

Anita received her Bachelor’s degree, with a double major in English and Spanish from Our Lady of the Lake University. From the University of Texas in San Antonio, she received her Master’s Degree in Bilingual/ESL studies.  Both degrees were achieved with high honors.  Anita’s education prepared her for a successful career in teaching.  Her education in Bilingual / ESL gave her the ability to learn how to differentiate instruction for different learning styles.

Anita taught for twelve years in San Antonio, where she also enjoyed helping teachers create individualized instruction packets for their students with different learning styles.  While presenting at an education conference, she was approached by education publishers.  For the next twenty years, Anita trained teachers throughout the United States for different major education publishers (CTB/McGraw-Hill, Pearson, Harcourt).  Her workshops included theory/methodology, test interpretation/test taking skills and different manipulatives (hands-on activities take-aways) to use in their class instruction.  After her travels training teachers, Anita was an ESL Transition Coach.  She coached teachers on how to teach students that had English as a Second Language, due to resettlement students on the campuses. Anita also tutored these students before, during lunch and afterschool.

After retirement, Anita continued tutoring students on English Language Arts that included Reading, Writing, College Essays, and State Testing Skills.  With her strong background on differentiating instruction and testing, she assesses the student’s present skills to identify areas of need.  Instruction is then accommodated for the students.  This also allows Ms. Muriel to show growth of the student to parents.  Ms. Muriel also enjoys teaching Catechism to 3^rd grade students preparing for Holy Communion.  She also creates the power point slides for her church Rosary Prayer Group.

Her hobbies include gardening, antique browsing, DIY projects, as well as, babysitting her two grandchildren and tutoring them in areas of need.

Anne Wells graduated from Rice University with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies, Pre-Med, and from Boston University with a Master of Science in Medical Sciences. *She is currently an MD-PhD candidate at UT Health San Antonio and is really passionate about enhancing and increasing access to STEM education for the next generation. As an undergraduate and graduate student, Anne worked as a professional tutor where she specialized in test prep (SAT, ACT, ISEE, GRE, MCAT) as well as subject tutoring (Mathematics K-12, Statistics, Calculus I/II, Spanish, English, Essay Writing). Anne also taught full time as a middle school Spanish teacher and really loved opportunities to share her passion for learning and relating challenging concepts to students’ lives and interests. *Alongside having years of tutoring experience, Anne has perfected the art time management and organizational skills, and really enjoys fostering engaging, personalized one-on-one interactive lessons. In her spare time, Anne enjoys reading, hiking, rock climbing, and spending time with her friends and family.

Beth grew up on the east coast and moved to Texas as a young adult.  She first thought of teaching after working with special needs kids at summer camp, and that led her to study special education.  Not long after, she got married and started a family, and stayed home to teach her four children, two of whom received generous scholarships.  She originally started tutoring as a way to make some extra money while still homeschooling her kids.  After her own kids were launched, she spent three years as a math interventionist at Great Hearts Classical Charter School.  Her students often say that she makes math less scary, that they don’t cry any more, that she explains things in a way that makes concepts more clear. Prior co-workers have exclaimed, “This was the most engaging example of math tutoring I have ever seen. The pacing was quick and vigorous, but the scholars were met just at their right level.”  Her students at Great Hearts showed definite improvement in test scores, and her private students often bring up their SAT or ACT scores, or raise their grade in class.   Though math is her strongest subject, she has also taught Spanish and some ELA.  She lives for the moment when the light goes on and a student “gets it”!  She also loves giving cooking classes and sewing lessons.   In her free time, Beth enjoys gourmet cooking, gardening, and swing dancing.

Caillie has worked as a tutor for about ten years. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. After graduating from college, she immediately found a passion for tutoring. She recently moved to San Antonio, Texas, and currently works as a Professional Writing Tutor for the Alamo Colleges. She has tutored all ages and grade levels in English, writing, and math (including algebra, geometry, and statistics). Caillie loves building her students’ confidence and watching them succeed in their goals. She loves her cat, Jasper, and enjoys tap dancing and working on jigsaw puzzles in her free time.

Carly C. graduated from University of Michigan with a B.S. in Neuroscience. She has tutored while in school and after graduation in subjects such as Math, Science, ACT/SAT, and the ASVAB. Growing up in Southern California, Christopher G. had a curiosity of his natural surroundings that led him to pursue an Associate of Science degree in Geology thus fostering his passion for the sciences and paving the way for him to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Earth Science at California State University, Fullerton. While attending college Christopher began professionally tutoring other students, and as a result initiated his journey in educating. Since graduating Christopher continues tutoring K-12 students where he actively contributes to improving scientific and mathematical literacy along with reading and writing skills. As a mentor, Christopher believes that by building a strong connection with his students he can better meet their individual needs and expand their learning capacity. David L. is a certified teacher. He was an educator for 22 years in Southern California. He then moved to Texas and continued his profession as an educator. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in English. David is passionate about being a mentor to his students. Having experienced many challenges in his own personal education, He had determined to become an educator who would come alongside students to guide them on their academic journeys. As a teacher, he understands the importance of building on the student’s strengths and understands the need to establish a sound relationship with his students that fosters a student’s personal interests. David uses many of the techniques he has gained as a basketball coach to guide his teaching practices. He believes in partnering with his student on the academic goal just as if he were on the same athletic team and working together as collaborative unit. Some of his other experiences include working as a Project Designer for an architectural firm, leading a scout pack as Cubmaster, tutoring algebra and geometry, and instructing students in Revit and AutoCAD. With all of his experience, he is able to relate to many different professions and provide some needed and valuable information to his students. David graduated from California State University Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts in English. He completed his teaching internship at Whittier College and Azuza Pacific University. David then began his teaching career as an English teacher at a high school for grades 9 through 12. He became a head coach for the high school varsity basketball team and was involved as a team leader in the school’s technology program where he implemented several teaching strategies that incorporated the use of technology to support instruction. Through these experiences, David has developed a wealth of knowledge that he has been able to use to foster his passion for teaching and mentoring his students along their academic journey.
The most valuable aspect of David’s teaching ability is his determination to help every student become successful and to help build-up self-confidence. David fully believes that every student is capable of becoming successful. He has personally witnessed the success of students that were provided a positive direction and a sound relationship. David M. was born and raised in Corpus Christi where he graduated from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi with a degree in Health Science. He went on to pursue the medical field as a phlebotomist during COVID while tackling my teaching certificate. David started his teaching journey in 2021 in Rockport TX where he successfully lead the sixth grade math team into teaching them several different ways of solving math problems and implementing different strategies to their learning. David then left and came to San Antonio to teach at a local middle school and coach various sports. He have taught all levels of middle school math all the way to Algebra and is certified in Math and Science through 8th grade. He has tutored College Algebra during his time in University and enjoys teaching and being a lifelong learner. David’s favorite subjects are that of science and math, especially A&P and Algebra. During his downtime, David enjoy’s listening to music, especially of the rock genre. His favorite artists include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, and State Champs. Davis is in a band and plays bass. Music has and will always be a life long passion of his.

David S. is a retired certified teacher and administrator in San Antonnio, Texas. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from St. Mary’s University and a Master’s degree in School Administration from Texas A&I University. He has thirty-four years of teaching and administrative experience. He has also taught American and Texas government as an adjunct instructor in the local community college district. He is very good at helping students feel comfortable in the learning process and implements a variety of instructional techniques geared to the individual learner.

Deyanira S. is a certified teacher who has been tutoring students since she founded Math Rocks in 2007. She has tutored students in mathematics for all grade levels and has enjoyed seeing her students thrive and enjoy the subject. Before this, Deyanira began her teaching career in 1998 as a GED instructor.  She also taught remedial math classes at her local junior college and high school mathematics.

Deyanira earned her Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of Houston. She then went on to obtain her Master’s in Secondary Education from Sul Ross State University. Her passion for learning has led her to continue her studies at Harvard University, attending various conferences in education and taking online courses from the Harvard Extension School. Additionally, Deyanira has attended UC Berkeley to be trained in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL).

In her spare time, Deyanira enjoys brisk walking while listening to her favorite music. She also enjoys getting together with her students to watch movies, eat together, and to just hang out. Deyanira forms beautiful relationships with her students and refers to them as, “my kids.” Her joy of teaching is truly reflected in her desire to reach every child in a caring and supportive manner.

Ebany G. is an experienced tutor and substitute teacher with a passion for education. Born and raised in the small town of Othello, Washington, she attended high school there before embarking on her academic journey. Ebany pursued her undergraduate degree at Washington State University, where she double majored in Strategic Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations and Criminal Justice. However, her thirst for knowledge remained unquenched, prompting her to further her education.

Determined to enhance her expertise, Ebany earned her master’s degree in Strategic Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations from Washington State University in May 2023. Equipped with a comprehensive educational background, she sought to broaden her horizons by exploring different opportunities around the country. This led her to Texas, where she relocated independently in search of professional growth.

Esmeralda T.  is the Head Start ERSEA/Early Childhood Enrollment Coordinator at South San Antonio ISD. A proud graduate of Concordia University Austin, she was inspired to pursue a career in education after attending nursing school and working with children during pediatric clinicals. She decided that children were where her heart was. Before working at South San Antonio ISD, she was a Bilingual Teacher at Edgewood ISD where they were responsible for teaching pre-k and kinder students cognitive skills and helping develop social-emotional competencies for school readiness. In their free time, they can be found watching their favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys play football.

Heather A. graduated from Cornell College Suma Cum Laude with dual BA majors in Economics and Art. She subsequently received her Texas Secondary Teaching Certification from Southwest Texas State University in Social Studies with an emphasis in Economics and World Geography. Heather has a TEYL Certificate -teaching English to young learner- and a TEFL Certificate-teaching English to foreign learners- and enjoys one-on-one teaching in person and online. Her passion for teaching and love of children took her to South Africa, where she voluntarily created and facilitated a learning program for previously disadvantaged children ages 3-18. She has over 6 years experience teaching Chinese children and adults English online. During the past 20 years she has held a variety of teaching positions from swimming lessons and aerobics to high school economics and business school courses; in every position she has developed an ever-deepening passion to teach children. She takes delight in seeing each child reach their full potential and help them explore their interests. Her classes are personal, interactive, engaging and most of all- supportive and caring. Jeremy is a certified Physics/Mathematics, and Technology Education teacher. He grew up in San Antonio, TX, moving to San Marcos to complete an undergraduate degree in Sound Recording Technology. While working on his bachelor degree, Jeremy found a job as an AVID tutor for junior high and high school students, and this was where he first got a taste of working in the classroom. Next, he then spent a year as a graduate student abroad at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, before returning to Texas to finish his masters degree in International Studies. Jeremy grew up with a deep love of travel and took the opportunity to explore the world during and after college. He had always thought about teaching full time, and it wasn’t until the covid pandemic after being stuck at home that he decided to take the leap and join the teaching field. During his time as a teacher, Jeremy has also sponsored the student guitar club on his campus, and co-sponsored the Science Bowl team. In the summer of 2023, Jeremy taught physics for the Pre Freshman Engineering Program hosted at UTSA, where students conducted hands-on experiments to learn about static and current electricity. Jeremy believes that by building a solid relationship with his students, he can better meet their needs and grow their learning.

Mrs. Maggie B. has been a teacher and school administrator for 19 years and she loves to watch students succeed and grow. She has a bachelor’s degree in Literature from The University of North Florida and a Masters degree from The University of Texas San Antonio in Educational leadership and Curriculum & Instruction. She spent much of her own school days in Europe where she formed a love for traveling and other cultures. That love translated into her classroom when she traveled with her students to numerous countries and showed them the world! In the classroom, she taught high school English, writing, drama and acting. She has been a middle and high school administrator and, one of her favorite things, a coach for teachers as they improve their craft. She is very excited and looks forward to working with your student!

Marilyn is a Texas certified secondary education/ biology/ chemistry/composite science teacher since 1992. She has taught many different sciences and medical courses to diverse students in high school and college. She has a Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, a M.A. in Molecular Biology, and a B.S. in Honors Zoology. Her passion is teaching the wonder and literacy of science to students and helping them to reach their educational potential. Marilyn is also a dog lover and owner, a nature lover and hiker, an avid reader of health/environment-related articles and books, as well as an online scrabble and sudoku enthusiast. She enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Matthew R. is a tutor and high school substitute teacher. He has lived in San Antonio since 2016 and completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology at the University of the Incarnate Word with a minor in Spanish Proficiency. He discovered his love of teaching after acquiring a chemistry tutoring position during his undergraduate years and was able to help many students, mainly nursing students, refine their science skills and understand the challenging concepts they will need to succeed in their fields. Melanie W. is a certified teacher in Texas. She grew up just outside of Philadelphia where she completed her early years of education as well as her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Widener University. (Yes, she is a Philadelphia Eagles fan) She then moved to San Antonio, Texas to pursue her dream in teaching. She received her Master’s degree at St. Mary’s University and immediately began working as a 7th and 8th grade history teacher. As a teacher she was able to build relationships with her students, which ultimately led to tutoring students who were struggling in their classes. Melanie has a way with making students feel comfortable to let their guard down and not feel like a failure if they don’t know the answer. She is constantly improving her techniques to reach all types of learners and still finds teaching as rewarding as her first day over 7 years ago.

Robin B. loves working with pre-teens and teens! She has 20+ years teaching, certified in all subjects 1-8 grades. The majority of her career has been teaching math where she loves coming alongside students struggling. Her energy, enthusiasm, knowledge, and ability to connect with students make her a top pick!

Originally from Chicago, Rolando moved to San Antonio where he recently completed a 20-year career at the community college level. Rolando has been able to use his academic background in economics, business, and higher education to travel and make an impact as an educator and volunteer. He was part of a group that traveled to Bahrain and Qatar in order to raise awareness, understanding, and cooperation between educators in the United States and the Middle East.  Also, as a part of a volunteer mission, Rolando participated in a trip to provide economics and business practice workshops in Peru. In addition, he was a guest lecturer at The Hague University for six-month period. Finally, Rolando traveled to Cuba to explore the possibility of conducting research about entrepreneurs. As a result of his travels, Rolando considers himself to be a global learner and strives to impart that knowledge and experience to his students. His desire is that not only will they be successful in the classroom, but will also explore the world with curiosity and recognize the value of others in the global community. In his spare time, Rolando roots for all Chicago sports teams, loves to read, to cook new dishes, is a borderline gym rat, and is a self-proclaimed cinephile (he insists that Die Hard IS a Christmas movie).

Shaun F. graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. degree in Sociology with minors in English and Honors Studies in 2013. Shaun completed his first M.A. in 2015, and he was awarded a second M.A. in Philosophy and Ethics in 2017. He takes special pride in coaching students toward college admission and preparation, whether aiding in SAT/ACT prep, consulting on college admission essays, or providing advanced college advising. In his free time, you’ll find Shaun working on his creative non-fiction memoir, tutoring underprivileged youth, leading community writing programs, volunteering with animal rescue organizations, or making plans to avoid going to sleep early.

Stephanie, a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, has extensive experience tutoring students from Pre-K through 5th grade and working in preschools. She is currently completing her teaching certification and recently completed her teaching internship at a local San Antonio Charter school, where she taught kindergartener’s. Stephanie is passionate about working with young children and helping them reach their full potential, both academically and personally. She incorporates her love of reading, traveling, and music (especially Harry Styles) into her teaching to create an engaging and enjoyable learning environment.

Susan G. finds joy in helping her students achieve their goals during meaningful instruction that fosters critical thinking skills and creativity.
“Sue” is certified to teach Grades 1-8, in addition to Special Education PK-12. She is a graduate of Texas A & M University and has over two decades of diverse teaching experiences like working in Public and Private Schools, including a Private Autism School. She has also Homeschooled and has served as a College Developmental Reading Adjunct.
Sue is available to tutor Kindergarteners through Adults in Reading, ELA, and Study Skills. She includes Math for Elementary Level Students.
In addition to her passion for education, Sue has a fondness for animals, gardening, and the Houston Astros.

With a bachelor’s degree from the Air Force Academy and a master’s from theUniversity of Dayton, Thad’s credentials and experience run broad and deep. For over 30 years he has taught math, science, and English at the university level–all the way down through first grade. Thad’s passion and joy is helping students and their families overcome academic challenges and grow to thrive at the highest levels of their potential.

In his free time, Thad enjoys his six children and three grandchildren, tennis, hiking, photography, swing dancing, and food with his wife, Beth. He almost never meets a student with whom he does not enjoy working, and he hopes to continue teaching as long as his health allows–at least 50 more years!
