Myrgia P.

Myrgia is a bilingual educator, university professor, and doctoral student in Counseling Psychology who is passionate about helping students grow academically while building confidence in their abilities. Originally from Puerto Rico, she recently relocated to Texas and brings a unique combination of higher education teaching, psychology, counseling, and academic mentoring experience to every tutoring session.

Myrgia earned her Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and has completed all degree requirements for her Master of Psychology while currently pursuing her Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Counseling Psychology. Her advanced graduate training has given her extensive expertise in learning, motivation, communication, and evidence-based approaches that help students overcome academic challenges and develop lifelong learning skills.

Before moving to Texas, Myrgia served as a full-time professor of English at Universidad Ana G. Méndez in Puerto Rico, where she taught undergraduate students English language and literature while designing engaging lessons that connected classic literature with modern media and popular culture. She also served as an assistant professor of Spanish and previously worked as a university writing tutor and student mentor, helping students strengthen academic writing, English and Spanish grammar, research skills, APA formatting, oral communication, and critical thinking.

In addition to her teaching experience, Myrgia completed both practicum and advanced practicum placements as a counseling psychology trainee at San Juan Bautista School of Medicine, where she provided counseling and academic support to medical students navigating the rigorous demands of professional school. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, she helped students manage academic stress, test anxiety, ADHD, anxiety disorders, and other personal challenges while developing effective study habits and strategies for success.

Myrgia specializes in English Language Arts, reading, writing, college essay coaching, psychology, conversational Spanish, and high school Spanish. As a fluent bilingual educator in both English and Spanish, she is especially skilled at helping students communicate clearly, strengthen their writing, improve reading comprehension, and gain confidence in both languages.

Families appreciate Myrgia’s warm, empathetic, and highly individualized teaching style. She believes that every student learns differently and approaches each tutoring session with patience, encouragement, and genuine curiosity about how each learner thinks. Her philosophy is simple: learning is a gift, and every student deserves to experience the confidence and joy that comes from discovering their own potential.

Outside of tutoring, Myrgia enjoys volunteering with animal shelters and veterans’ organizations, reading novels, exploring the beautiful rivers and parks around New Braunfels, and—having grown up in Puerto Rico—still gets excited every time she spots a deer in Texas.

Dr. Katina Walton views her enthusiasm for teaching as a calling and a responsibility that is driven by her commitment to student growth, equity, and excellence. Her desire to be a better teacher is fueled by the her personal experience of how effective instruction transforms lives and unlocks the potential in every learner.

She holds a Ph.D. in Literacy, Reading, Assessment, and Evaluation from Walden University, and has taught in a variety of classrooms from elementary schools to universities since 2001.

Outside of teaching, Dr. Walton finds joy in her faith, family, and community. She also enjoys encouraging others and engaging in activities that renew her spirit and strengthen her passion for education.

Hannah G.

EN: As an educator of 7+ years, Hannah (she/her) is eager to help students with social sciences, technical writing skills, reading comprehension, essay outlining, executive skills, and ESL conversation. Outside of tutoring, Hannah is a Ph.D. student in the Social and Cultural Analysis program at Concordia University. Her research, generously funded by the Faculty of Arts and Science Fellowship, explores online communities — specifically LGBTQIA+ and other minority-led spaces — and alternative media creation. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Media Studies from Concordia, which allowed her to develop a web series pilot about positive representation for sapphic women and non-binary folks in online fandoms. She likewise holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in English from the University of Regina with a concentration in creative writing. Professionally, she has experience as a researcher, instructor, journalist, and actress in film, theatre, and television. Hannah is passionate about intersectional feminist filmmaking, creative writing, and archival research.
In her spare time, she also enjoys volunteering for Archives gaies du Québec.

En dehors du tutorat, Hannah est doctorante au programme d’analyse sociale et culturelle de l’Université Concordia. Ses recherches, financées par la bourse de la Faculté des arts et des sciences, portent sur les communautés en ligne — plus particulièrement les espaces dirigés par des personnes LGBTQIA+ et d’autres groupes minoritaires — ainsi que sur la création de médias alternatifs. Elle détient également une maîtrise ès arts en études médiatiques de l’Université Concordia, dans le cadre de laquelle elle a développé un projet pilote de série Web portant sur la représentation positive des femmes sapphiques et des personnes non binaires dans les communautés de fans en ligne. Elle est aussi titulaire d’un baccalauréat spécialisé en anglais de l’Université de Regina, avec une concentration en création littéraire.

Sur le plan professionnel, Hannah possède de l’expérience comme chercheuse, enseignante, journaliste et comédienne au cinéma, au théâtre et à la télévision. Elle est passionnée par le cinéma féministe intersectionnel, l’écriture créative et la recherche archivistique.

Dans ses temps libres, elle aime également faire du bénévolat auprès des Archives gaies du Québec.

As a Neurodivergent Specialist, Stacey’s approach, grounded in the constructivist theory, prioritizes experiential learning through dynamic, hands-on activities, social and emotional engagement, and meaningful project-based outcomes.

A Columbia University graduate with a BA in psychology and writing, Brittany began her career as a journalist, honing her skills in crafting narratives that engage and inspire.

She later pursued her legal education at the University of Montreal, earning both LLB and JD degrees. Brittany’s unique blend of legal precision, creative thinking, and psychological insight has become the foundation of her specialty: helping individuals stand out in highly competitive processes.

With years of experience guiding applicants into Ivy League schools and other prestigious institutions, Brittany excels at creating tailored, compelling applications that tell each applicant’s unique story. Her personalized approach ensures that every detail reflects the applicant’s strengths and aspirations, positioning them for success.

Arden R.

Arden graduated summa cum laude from Yale University with a Bachelor’s in Classics (Latin). A member of Phi Beta Kappa, she was awarded the George A. Schrader Humanities prize at graduation for her contribution to the cultural life of the college. Since then, she has worked extensively as a tutor, mentor, and classroom teacher, helping students reach their goals in fields as varied as SAT prep, English prose style, French literature, musical composition, and mathematics.

Arden scored 2340 on the SAT, achieving a perfect score in Critical Reading and reaching the 98th percentile in Math. She received perfect scores on all three of her SAT IIs: Literature, French, and Molecular Biology. Her insights into the test are supported by her experience creating instructional and practice material for both the SAT and SAT II Literature Subject Test.

Empathetic, friendly, and enthusiastic, Arden has an infectious passion for learning. She is fluent in French, has translated a novel from German, and studied Ancient Greek along with Latin at Yale. Outside the classroom, her interests include songwriting, classical music, game design, philosophy, and gender.
