JOSHUA L.

Jared D. is a certified science educator and academic tutor with a degree in Animal Science and over eight years of experience teaching students in grades 6–12. Alexys W.
Alexys is a university student obtaining her BA in psychology, with the intention of working towards pursuing a doctorate. She has a passion for working with kids and is experienced. She has been working with the City of Brampton for 3 years as a program instructor. She has run various recreational programs for kids, including writers craft, STEM, art, and much more. She enjoys working in a classroom setting with kids and being able to help them develop their skills and passions. From her experience with teaching kids she has always found many ways to make sure all her students feel safe and comfortable while learning and she is able to cater to any need of her students to ensure that they remained focused and engaged with their learning. She allows for creative ways to help kids learn that is not strictly by book, she allows learning games, activities and peer discussions to add onto the students time learning. Alexys is dedicated to what she does and wishes for success in the future for all her students, while helping them reach all their goals.
MAYAKO T.
Mayako is an Ontario Certified Teacher in the Intermediate/Senior Division and is also certified in the state of Massachusetts with a Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement. She earned a Bachelor of Science from McGill University, and a Master of Education from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. She has completed additional workshops and conferences with College Board, Southern New Hampshire University and the United Nations Headquarters. Mayako has taught science in public schools in Massachusetts before relocating to Toronto, where she currently teaches Grade 9 science at an independent private girls’ school. Being a Third-Culture Kid who grew up across Canada and Singapore, she is passionate about working with multicultural, multilingual, international and diverse learners. She loves participating in fun science experiments and wants to share that passion with students in her class. Mayako has experience completing the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program (DP) as a student herself, has taught the Advanced Placement (AP) Curriculum in the United States, and currently teaches from the Middle Years Program. She has also worked in various educational summer programs associated with Harvard University and the University of Toronto. Mayako is passionate about travelling, experiencing new cultures and exploring new places and restaurants across Toronto.
Sara S.
Sara is an experienced educator with over 18 years of teaching expertise across diverse educational settings. She studied at both Rutgers University and Kean University, where she strengthened her foundation in child development and instructional practice. Sara has taught in the public school system for 13 years, spent two years in a Montessori environment, supported a family through a year of private homeschooling, and most recently founded and operated her own homeschool program for the past two years.
Sara specializes in supporting early learners from Kindergarten through Grade Five, with a particular passion for teaching children to read and developing strong foundational math skills. Her approach blends structure, patience, and warmth, allowing her to meet each child where they are and help them build confidence through personalized, engaging instruction.
Beyond her professional work, Sara is a devoted mother who loves spending time with her children, exploring nature, and caring for animals. Her long-term dream is to one day create an animal sanctuary—a reflection of her nurturing spirit both inside and outside the classroom.
STEPHEN M.
Stephen is currently completing his Education Degree at Mount Royal University, where he has gained valuable experience working with K–6 students in a variety of classroom settings. His time in the program has shown him how important it is for children to feel safe, supported, and confident in their learning.
As President of the MRU Education Undergraduate Society, Stephen advocates for student needs, organizes ongoing professional learning opportunities, and contributes to multiple education committees. These experiences have strengthened his leadership, communication skills, and commitment to creating supportive learning environments.
Before entering education, Stephen spent seven years as a Pharmacy Technician. This role sparked his passion for teaching as he mentored new staff, supported student placements, and guided patients through medication reviews. Through this work, Stephen discovered how much he values helping others learn, build confidence, and feel empowered.
Stephen believes that every learner is unique and deserves to feel safe, supported, and capable of driving their own educational journey. He strives for excellence in all he does and is dedicated to helping students develop the skills, confidence, and curiosity they need to succeed.
Kady P.
Kady is a certified Junior/Intermediate Math and Science teacher, Intermediate/Senior History and Geography teacher, and a Special Education Specialist. With a rich and diverse teaching background, she is deeply committed to creating inclusive, supportive learning environments where every student feels seen, capable, and empowered.
Currently serving as the Head of Special Education at a highschool, Kady leads with compassion and expertise. She works closely with students, families, and educators to ensure meaningful accommodations, targeted interventions, and individualized learning pathways. Her work places a strong emphasis on ADHD coaching, executive functioning and learning-skills development, and both math and literacy remediation.
Kady is especially passionate about helping students build confidence in their abilities. She believes that with the right tools, encouragement, and strategic support, all learners can reach—and exceed—their potential. Her approach blends patience, high expectations, and a deep understanding of diverse learning needs, making her a powerful advocate and mentor for the students she supports.
Julian F.
Julian is an Ontario Certified Teacher in the Intermediate division, known for his strong academic background and his commitment to relationship-centered teaching. He completed his Bachelor of Arts at York University, studying Psychology and History, before earning his Bachelor of Education at Brock University. Since 2018, he has proudly served within the York Region District School Board and is currently teaching Grade 8.
Julian is a dedicated, experienced, and reflective educator who places a high value on building meaningful connections with students. He believes that strong relationships form the foundation of a successful classroom, where students feel safe, supported, and motivated to grow both academically and personally. With particular passion and confidence in teaching English, Math, History, and Science, Julian has taught all intermediate subjects throughout his career. Pawan B.
Pawan B. is an aspiring STEM educator with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from UBC Okanagan. Growing up in Kamloops, British Columbia, he developed a deep interest in technology, mathematics, and the creative world of video games. Throughout his undergraduate degree, Pawan explored advanced mathematics, programming, and game development — fields he always imagined bringing into the classroom to inspire future learners!
Pawan’s passion for education grew from seeing how students thrive when they feel genuinely connected to what they are learning. He is especially motivated by helping students recognize their own abilities, develop independence, and see themselves as capable problem-solvers. Whether teaching math, physics, or computer science, Pawan aims to empower every learner to take ownership of their growth and to see relevance, joy, and possibility in their work.
Through his teaching and tutoring experience, Pawan has developed a strong philosophy around mathematics: he believes that becoming a math educator means helping students understand that mathematics is not just about results — it is the process of thinking, reasoning, and viewing the world through a mathematical lens. He emphasizes that math is a learnable skill, much like playing an instrument or mastering a challenging video game level. With patience, encouragement, guidance, and lots of practice (where mistakes are highly encouraged), he helps students build confidence and develop a durable mathematical understanding.
