Upon completion of my undergraduate degree at Western, I completed a M.DPE from OISE, U of T and was employed for 3 years at OISE running an infant developmental lab, before embarking on my tutoring business.

Raemyn is a Franchise Support Manager at Prep Academy Tutors. She has been working with Prep Academy since 2020. Raemyn is a certified teacher who is familiar with the curriculum guidelines and expectations over various grade levels, and she specializes in teaching English, Social Sciences, and French. Raemyn majored in Educational Studies and graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree. Raemyn is passionate about creating a safe, inclusive, and better educational experience for students. In her free time, Raemyn enjoys watching hockey, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.

Originally from India, Aayu came to Toronto for an undergraduate degree in physics, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Toronto, where she has been a consistent Dean’s List Scholar. With 3 years of private tutoring experience, 7 years of teaching experience, and 3 years of mentoring experience at Victoria College, Aayu is dedicated to providing her students with high quality support by creating personalized learning plans for her students and focusing on strengthening their foundations. Aayu has tutored IB and A-Level curriculum for mathematics and physics, and mathematics and logic at university level. Outside of classrooms, Aayu enjoys reading and writing fiction, and going on walks while contemplating philosophical imports of discoveries in quantum mechanics. Abbey is a Teacher Candidate at the University of Toronto with a specialization in Junior/Intermediate English. She holds a Master of Arts degree from the Literatures of Modernity program at Toronto Metropolitan University, and earned her undergraduate degree from McMaster University with a major in English and Cultural Studies. It is through her volunteer work as an ELL tutor, her time as a Teaching Assistant in the English department at TMU, and her experience as a tutor with Paper that Abbey has fostered a love of teaching. Abbey has supported her students in reading comprehension, essay writing, citation practices, and improving grammar and punctuation. Abbey has also completed two practicum placements in the Toronto District School Board, where she has taught Junior/Intermediate Math, Science, English, and Social Studies. Abbey firmly believes that understanding her students is fundamental to effective teaching, and she invests time in building relationships to better cater to their individual needs, fostering growth and learning. In her spare time, Abbey is either sitting down with a good book, working on her next crochet project, or playing with her two orange cats.

Aditya Venkatesh is a PhD student in Aerospace Engineering at Ryerson University working on designing next generation aircraft cabin interiors. He has a masters degree in Aerospace Engineering from Ryerson University and a bachelors degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University, USA. Since his masters program, Aditya has been a Graduate Assistant (GA) for various aerospace engineering undergraduate courses, during which he has enjoyed fostering students to get the most out of their semester so they can develop their skill set. As a GA, he discovered a fondness of teaching and is excited to extend his expertise to high schoolers as well. With experience as an invigilator at the Ryerson University Test Center that caters to students with academic accommodations and accessibility needs, Aditya is equipped to handle any student on their learning journey. He even has experience delivering online material since following that format as a GA since March 2020. In his spare time, Aditya enjoys cooking, comedy, and documentaries.

Aidan O. is a PhD student in Communication & Culture at York University studying the politics of internet memes and social media. He has a masters degree in Media Studies from Western University and a bachelor’s degree in political studies from Queen’s University. Aidan is an experienced educator with a strong background in teaching communication, reading, writing and critical thinking skills. Aidan has worked as a graduate teaching assistant teaching in university classrooms, as a literacy tutor in elementary schools and in student’s homes and as a debate coach teaching students remotely over Zoom.
Aidan believes that teaching is a collective journey that requires an educator to move through the learning process with students and model attitudes and behaviors that reflect the practice and promote engagement with the subject matter. Learning is an acquisition of knowledge, but it is primarily a way of being in the world. Learning about literature, law, economics, history, science or philosophy is not just learning names of acclaimed authors and key concepts it is learning to carry on in our lives with critical questioning, eclectic curiosity and honesty about what we do not know. This understanding of the importance of teaching informs Aidan’s teaching and tutoring practice and motivates his journey to become a working professor. In his spare time Aidan enjoys cooking, listening to music and reading.

Alex is an Ontario Certified Teacher who works for the York Region District School Board. After completing a diploma in Early Childhood Education where she graduated with honours, Alex decided to continue her education by completing a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Child Studies at Carleton University, and a Bachelor of Education from University of Windsor. Following graduation Alex lived and worked in London England where she sharpened her teaching skills, and traveled throughout Europe. Alex believes that learning is a life-long skill and has taken the Additional Qualification courses for Math, Kindergarten, and Special Education. Alex has always had a passion for children and teaching. She uses her great sense of humour to endear herself to her students and believes that each child is capable and unique. Alex is experienced in creating individual plans that strengthen existing skills and cater specifically to individual needs. In her spare time Alex enjoys playing hockey and is a big Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Alex looks forward to meeting and getting to know you!

Alice is a teacher candidate in her final year at the University of Toronto. She will be a high school science teacher specializing in biology and general science, and will also be teaching social sciences. She completed a Bachelor of Science degree specializing in Biology at the University of Ottawa but had a wide range of interests and took a variety of courses including math, physics, chemistry, psychology, anthropology and history. In addition to academics, she is an RCM certified piano instructor and has worked as a certified ski instructor. Alice believes that learning is most successful when a teacher explores and draws upon the students’ interest. She believes that it is also essential to make learning fun and to tie the content to everyday life making it meaningful and applicable for the student. In addition to teaching and learning, she enjoys, reading, waterpolo, crocheting and music.

Allie is an Ontario-certified Primary/Junior teacher with additional qualifications in special education as well as Intermediate English and math. After completing both her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education at Queen’s University, Allie was honoured with the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario’s Faculty of Education award. After graduating, Allie moved to England to work in a specialist setting for children with a range of needs. There, Allie taught small groups of middle school students their subjects in a primary-style classroom, catching them up on curriculum they had missed in their mainstream schools. Allie’s desire to engage students of all educational backgrounds stems from her volunteer work with organizations such as Holland Bloorview, Canadian National Institute for the Blind and Making Waves. These experiences have taught Allie the importance of tailoring learning to the individual student and incorporating their interests wherever possible. Allie also recognizes the role of resilience in learning, helping her students build both academic and emotional skills simultaneously. Like her students, Allie is always learning, collecting certifications from organizations such as the Geneva Centre for Autism, TRIBES and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). At present, Allie is pursuing her Master of Education, where she works as a Teaching Assistant for pre-service teachers studying inclusion. When Allie isn’t at work or school, she can be found reading, cooking, learning Braille, doing yoga, or hanging out with her dog Charlie!

Amal is a goal-driven professional educator with a PhD in Economics and a Master’s in Finance and Banking, boasting 15 years of experience in teaching Economics and Business Administration courses. She is adept at planning, delivering, and adapting course curricula and teaching styles in both English and French to optimize student learning. Amal has successfully instructed and mentored over 60 students in a multicultural setting, employing Active Learning methodologies and integrating technology to enhance classroom experiences.

With a passion for education, Amal has contributed significantly to various educational settings. She has served as a Mathematics and Sciences Teacher at La Citadelle Academy of Sciences and Arts, where she instructed curriculum in French for students in grades 3 to 5, implementing innovative teaching strategies to engage students in a bilingual environment. Additionally, she has worked as a Teaching Assistant at Concordia University, developing and teaching Economics and Business Administration courses. She is also currently involved in the Teaching Assistant Program at the University of Toronto and is a Private French Tutor, providing personalized tutoring sessions to enhance critical thinking skills and concentration in French Immersion programs.

She is a multilingual educator fluent in French, English, and Arabic, and her expertise extends to various educational technology platforms.

In addition to her teaching experience, Amal is actively involved in research and community-based initiatives. Outside of her professional endeavors, Amal enjoys connecting with nature, watching birds and pigeons, and indulging her creative side by writing children’s books.

Hi there! I’m Amanda, an OCT certified teacher with a passion for education that spans over 20 years. A graduate of the University of Western Sydney’s teachers college, I specialize in intensive support programs,  full-day kindergarten, literacy and special education.. I have a Diploma and a Degree in Recreation Leadership, and hold additional qualifications as a Reading and Special Education Specialist.

I bring an unwavering belief in the competence and capability of every child with the proper support. My approach revolves around emergent learning and play-based education, integrating strategies like Universal Design for Learning (UDL).  These approaches ensure that each student receives an education tailored to their unique needs, fostering a sense of inclusivity and empowerment.

Beyond academics, my life in Toronto revolves around my husband, our two children and our dog Willow, reflecting my commitment to family and outdoor activities. Amber is an Ontario certified Primary, Junior, and Intermediate Teacher. She grew up in Vancouver and Toronto and earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto. As well, she obtained a Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa with great distinction, and she is currently pursuing a Master’s of Education in Studies in Teaching and Learning. Amber grew up with a deep love of teaching, language, and culture, and took the opportunity to continue teaching as her career. She has taught students from K-12 for the past 7 years and has diverse experience in teaching ESL students, students with multiple exceptionalities, and as well as various subjects such as Language Arts, Math, Science, Geography, and Visual Arts. She has also tutored standardized exams such as SSAT, IELTS, and College Admission Assessments and taught English in South Korea. As a professional mentor, she continues to develop instructional strategies for working with children and accommodating their needs. Amber also enjoys learning about each of her students’ interests and strengths to help students learn effectively.

Anamika’s love for STEM learning began as a young girl, where she turned her family bathroom into her laboratory and would do “experiments” in the sink with soaps and shampoo galore. Currently, Anamika is a Master of Science Candidate with the Biology department at York University. She graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honors Bachelor of Science, double-majoring in Human Biology and Psychology. She is qualified to teach all levels for science, and Grades 1 through 10for math.

Anamika has previously worked with children ages 5+ in her role as a summer camp counselor, peer mentor, and has valuable skills obtained through her various volunteer positions, and research positions. Her interest in teaching has been further enriched through her role as a teaching assistant for introductory and advanced university-level biology courses.

Her desire to engage students from different educational and neurodiverse backgrounds follows her into the classroom. Anamika believes in tailoring the learning experience of her students to their interests and utilizing various methods to convey information to help her students develop learning strategies and resilience in the classroom. Anamika is always looking to be a better teacher, collecting certifications and attending workshops to engage students in an online classroom, develop learning skills, course design, etc.

Originally from Boston, Anamika has made Toronto her home for the past 6 years. In her free time, she loves to bake, watch movies, do yoga and hang out with her dog Gervais!

My name is Andrea and I am a Primary/Junior Ontario Certified Teacher with a background in Early Childhood Education and Child Development. I have several years of childcare and teaching experience working with infants to 13 years old. I currently work as a special needs assistant where I work along side students exhibiting myriad educational needs. I am passionate about primary and believe that learning should be geared towards students interests. Hands-on, inquiry based learning has been an effective approach in engaging students in learning and reaching their full potential. Teaching is a noble profession and I enjoy being a positive part of children’s growth and development as it is very rewarding. When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, exercising, journaling, exploring nature, spending time with friends/family and enriching my mind by travelling.

Andrew Plessas is an OCT Certified Teacher who graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from York University and a Bachelor of Education from UOIT in Intermediate and Senior levels. He later took Additional Qualification courses in Primary and Junior Education, allowing him to teach students of all grade levels. He is a passionate TDSB High School Teacher with a specialist in Biology and is currently teaching Science at Leaside High School. For over 15 years he has dedicated his time to working with youth, in camps, tutoring, volunteering in schools and teaching in private schools and with TDSB. He has worked with a diverse set of students who were behavioural, ESL and special needs students, who were autistic, nonverbal, and had ADHD, as well as Down syndrome, and has developed a keen ability to identify students strengths and weaknesses and work with their unique needs in order to create an individualized plan to help them succeed. He believes that with dedication and the right support all students can succeed.

Anita has always loved to teach—whether it was multiplication tables at the kitchen table with her younger brothers or helping her friends study for History exams, she has many fond memories of supporting others in their academics. Anita has recently graduated from a Marketing Management certificate at Humber, and has an undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto in English and Media Studies under her belt. She is dedicated to providing a high-quality, collaborative tutoring experience to her students, ensuring that her teaching style adapts to their unique needs. Anita’s specialties include English literature/literacy, college essay prep, humanities, and social science.

When she isn’t working, you can find Anita cooking up a storm in her kitchen or obsessing over her newest craft (air-dry clay at present). She loves to learn new things, and this passion is what drives her to inspire the same love for learning within her students.

Anna received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from Queen’s University in 2023 and is a teacher candidate in the Master of Teaching Program at OISE at the University of Toronto. She has extensive experience working with children including acting as a counsellor at various day camps. During her time at Queen’s, Anna served as the co-chair of Extra Awesome, a club which focuses on providing social and life skill support to youth in the community with disabilities.

Anna first discovered her love of teaching when she worked as a ski instructor in high school for three seasons with children ages 4-11, allowing her to combine her passion for the outdoors with working alongside others. She has completed placements in the TDSB and in Canadian Accredited Independent Schools. Moreover, Anna is a graduate of the International Baccalaureate and is familiar with both the PYP and MYP curriculums. Anna believes in teaching the whole child and strives to make the classroom an inclusive, engaging, and supportive space for all types of learners.

Anne has recently retired after 30 years teaching high school English for the York Catholic District School Board. For the last 18 years of her career, she was the English Department Head at St. Augustine Catholic High School in Markham. Anne is OCT qualified, has a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Drama from the University of Toronto, and a B.Ed. from Dalhousie University. Her area of expertise is intermediate and high school English, especially teaching writing, public speaking, study skills, and STEM-focused English. She wrote a textbook for the Grade 12 Writer’s Craft course; it is Ministry of Education-approved and used in a number of high schools in Ontario. She developed and taught an online grade 12 STEM English course for her school board, with a focus on teaching the mandatory English course to students who would be pursuing STEM courses in university. She has also helped students with study skills, presentation skills, prepping for university admission, as well as tutoring first-year university students in writing. Teaching is her passion, and over her career, Anne has enjoyed teaching hundreds of students as well as mentoring other teachers and presenting workshops for her school board on subjects such as storytelling, media, and using technology and STEM in the English classroom.

Anusha has been working with children between the ages of 5 and 13 for the past 7 years. She grew up in Toronto where she has completed all of her schoolings. Anusha attended the University of Toronto for her Bachelor of Arts. She majored in Sociology and did a double minor in English and Publish Law. She is currently at Tyndale University working towards her Bachelor of Education to be a primary/junior teacher. Over the years, she has gained many valuable skills both working at a daycare with school-agers, privately tutoring primary/junior children, and in her practicums. She has gained a great amount of communication and organizational skills as well as learned to critically think and problem solve. Most importantly, she is very passionate about what she does. Anusha believes that passion plays an immense role in being a teacher and it allows her to provide her students with a safe, structured environment that ensures positive learning strategies. Most importantly, she is patient as she understands that students have their own pace they work at and she is able to accommodate that. During her leisure time, Anusha loves to spend time with family and friends. Her favourite activities are hiking, bowling, and baking during her free time.

Anya is a French, ESL, and Social Sciences teacher with ten years of experience, working with children from K to 12. She has also worked as a French instructor for adults. Anya is currently completing a Master’s degree in European and Russian Affairs at the University of Toronto and is passionate about history, literature, and languages. She is a native Russian speaker, fluent in French and Spanish, and has also studied German and Yiddish. Anya is excited to be joining Prep Academy Tutors and sharing her passion for learning with new students.

Arden graduated summa cum laude from Yale University with a Bachelor’s in Classics (Latin). A member of Phi Beta Kappa, she was awarded the George A. Schrader Humanities prize at graduation for her contribution to the cultural life of the college. Since then, she has worked extensively as a tutor, mentor, and classroom teacher, helping students reach their goals in fields as varied as SAT prep, English prose style, French literature, musical composition, and mathematics.

Arden scored 2340 on the SAT, achieving a perfect score in Critical Reading and reaching the 98th percentile in Math. She received perfect scores on all three of her SAT IIs: Literature, French, and Molecular Biology. Her insights into the test are supported by her experience creating instructional and practice material for both the SAT and SAT II Literature Subject Test.

Empathetic, friendly, and enthusiastic, Arden has an infectious passion for learning. She is fluent in French, has translated a novel from German, and studied Ancient Greek along with Latin at Yale. Outside the classroom, her interests include songwriting, classical music, game design, philosophy, and gender.

Brenelle is currently studying in the Masters of Teaching program at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education in Toronto. She graduated from the Extended French Program in Secondary School and earned an Honours BSc with distinction from McMaster University, majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology. She is qualified to teach Junior and Intermediate divisions (Grades 4-10) for all subjects. Additionally, she has the requisites to teach senior level (Grades 11-12) Core French, Biology, and Chemistry. Brenelle has a substantial amount of experience working with children aged 4-18 in both work and volunteer settings, including being a camp counselor, specialty sports instructor, camp teacher and youth coordinator. Brenelle endeavors to tailor lesson plans toward the strengths and varying needs of each individual. She utilizes current and relevant techniques to engage students in the subject matter resulting in the achievement of learning objectives and overall enjoyment in the subject. Outside of tutoring, Brenelle has played competitive soccer and basketball for over a decade, enjoys trying new recipes and is an avid movie watcher.

Bryce has his BSc was a double major in mathematics and computing science from Simon Fraser University. Bryce always found math fun in high school but it wasn’t until his second year university studies that he found passion and beauty in the subject. That sense of passion is something he loves to try to pass on to students who feel uncomfortable with the subject or that “they just aren’t math people.” During the completion of his BSc, Bryce found himself frequently employed as an instructor. He’s worked as a youth Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor, an ESL instructor, and an instructor in the Canadian Army Reserve (where he’s been employed since 2009). Bringing these instructional experiences and subject matter knowledge together inspire Bryce to create an atmosphere where students can get comfortable with the discomfort of learning and start to grow.

Shubhayan earned his Master’s Degree in Applications of Mathematics at the Chennai Mathematical Institute in 2013 and is currently pursuing independent studies in Machine Learning and Data Science.

With over 12 years of experience in Mathematics teaching and tutoring at various levels ranging from middle school to professional education, he incorporates his love for the subject with a passion for sharing and exchanging knowledge to create a unique learning experience for each of his students.

He is a former candidate delegate for the World Cube Association, and his special skills and interests include Cooking, Karaoke, Board Games and being able to solve a Rubik’s Cube in under twenty seconds, one handed.

Carolyn is a certified Primary/Junior teacher graduating from Western University specializing in Mathematics through the Arts. She was born in London, England, has lived in Tokyo, Japan and been in Toronto for 18 years now. Carolyn completed her Undergraduate Degree in Commerce at Queen’s University, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management. Carolyn is a lifelong learner as she completes an IB educator certificate in teaching and learning, and several workshops to expand her coding skills.

Carolyn has loved working with children and was inspired to pursue her Bachelor of Education after working at an overnight summer camp for many years, and from her volunteer work in the classroom. She has supported students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in literacy development and math in numerous tutoring roles. Carolyn is continuously motivated by her students’ curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. Their energy makes her excited about teaching and building strong relationships with her students, and inspires her to bring relatable content into each session. She has a love of math and hopes to demonstrate the creative side of numbers when problem solving. Carolyn can often be found spending time outside, playing sports or curled up in her hammock reading a good book.

Carrie is an Ontario Certified Teacher at the Junior/Intermediate/Senior levels with a passion for Math and Science for as long as she can remember. She received her Bachelor of Science at McGill University, then went on to receive her Master of Teaching at OISE. She has been the recipient of numerous academic scholarships as well as consistently on the Dean’s List at McGill. Having completed the Explore French-Language Exchange, she also enjoys tutoring French up to Grade 9. Carrie has nearly 10 years of experience teaching and mentoring students ages 5-16, and volunteering with at-risk youth. She loves getting to know her students’ individual learning needs and uses a fun and empathetic approach to helping them succeed. Some of Carrie’s other hobbies include camping, rock climbing and yoga.

Celine is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She grew up in Richmond Hill, moving to Waterloo to complete an Undergraduate Degree at Wilfrid Laurier University. Celine discovered her passion for teaching while volunteering at the local elementary school in Waterloo and working with children. When she decided to pursue teaching as a career Celine commuted to Buffalo, NY and completed a Bachelor of Education at Medaille College, where she received her Masters of Education. It is through teaching that Celine has been able to foster her love of reading. Celine is married and has 2 daughters ages 10 and 8. She currently resides in midtown Toronto with her family.

Cici is an Ontario teacher candidate from the University of Toronto majoring in Master of Teaching. She completed her first master’s degree at the State University of New York at Binghamton in the United States and her bachelor’s degree at Wuhan University in China. Over these years, Cici travelled, studied, worked in different countries, and gained great insight into social justice and inequality. While doing an internship at the United Nations and being a volunteer teacher with low-income communities in New York City, Cici learned her passion for K-12 education to bring an invaluable change to the world. Since then, she has been working as a curriculum developer, learning facilitator, tutor, and teacher for children ages 3 to 16. Besides, she has experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders. Her cheerful attitude, dedicated working ethic, and professional teaching knowledge help her win the trust of both the children and parents. Currently, she is a private teacher for kids from 4 to 7 years old. She has supported the improvement of their spelling, reading, writing, and math skills. In her spare time, Cici likes drawing and painting. She believes the art skills connect to every subject and bring joy to children during the learning process!

Cori E. is a seasoned language trainer and admissions consultant with over 15 years of teaching experience in academic and corporate English and French, as well as assisting with undergraduate, graduate, and private school applications (primary and high school). Born and raised in Montreal, she holds a B.A.in French/English Translation from Concordia University. Cori’s expertise lies in helping students through every facet of language development, including reading, writing and oral communication. In high school, Cori was fondly known as the “grammar queen,” a testament to her deep understanding of both the English and French language. In addition to language training and admissions consulting, Cori is also expert in preparing clients for both academic and job interviews, conducting tailored mock interviews and helping clients develop the most compelling responses to interview questions. She is passionate about her work, patient with her clients, and eager to help them achieve a high level of proficiency in English and/or French and attain their academic and professional goals. In her spare time, Cori enjoys crossword puzzles, online Scrabble, reading, current events, swimming, hiking and traveling.

Courtney has been in the teaching and childcare field since she was young herself. She was enrolled in French Immersion in kindergarten, and continued her french education through both highschool and university, mentoring and teaching younger students. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in French at McMaster University in Hamilton. She went on to obtain her teaching degree from Brock University, specializing in Primary/Junior education. Courtney worked as an occasional teacher and tutor in Hamilton, before spending a year in Switzerland practising her french and working with children and adults to improve their english. Courtney believes that one of the most important factors in student success is confidence, and she works to instill this in every student she teaches. Students confident in their abilities try new solutions, take more risks, participate more in class, and keep trying when they make mistakes. In her free time, Courtney enjoys all things artistic, including painting, knitting, sculpting, cooking, sewing and drawing. She is also a huge sci-fi nerd, and can often be found with her nose stuck in a book.

Courtney is an Ontario Certified Teacher, holding a Bachelor of Education and a BA in English and History, both from Queen’s University. Courtney is qualified to teach English and History at the Intermediate and Senior grade levels. She also has experience teaching Primary and Junior grade levels in her teachable subjects, as well as in mathematics.

Courtney has had a variety of classroom experiences during her time in the Queen’s University’s Concurrent Education program. In addition to her traditional English and History placements, Courtney has experience in at-risk programs, ESL classrooms, and in the Ontario Literacy Course. These experiences have led Courtney to develop a teaching philosophy based around inclusive and differentiated learning. Additionally, Courtney is an advocate for positive learning spaces and for teaching critical thinking skills in order to facilitate strong communities of learners in today’s schools.

Courtney is very passionate about learning opportunities outside the classroom. She has over five years of experience in Elementary Outdoor Education, Intermediate/Senior Leadership Programs, and Outdoor Co-Operative Learning programs. She believes that learning that takes place outside the classroom can further any student’s understanding of material, and, more importantly, teaches students to work together and support one another.

When Courtney isn’t working in educational programs, she could be found rock climbing, attending Broadway (or Mirvish) shows, or reading the latest book she bought.

Daniel earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and has been teaching with the Halton District School Board since 2016. He graduated with an Honours Specialist in French and a minor in Economics. He enjoys the great Canadian outdoors by going camping and skiing every year. He is very knowledgeable in history and geopolitics. He has served on multiple deployments overseas with the Canadian Armed Forces.

Danielle is an OCT Certified Teacher who graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Western University in 2020, before moving to Nova Scotia to complete her Bachelor of Education at Acadia University. She has spent the past 5 years in Nova Scotia, where she taught a range of subjects including Music and Band, Health, Drama, English, and Social Studies with students in grade levels K-12.

Danielle always knew she wanted to be a teacher, but her love of teaching was solidified in her grade 12 year, when she did a co-op placement in her local elementary school. She firmly believes that building strong relationships with students is essential in order to help them to succeed. In her spare time, Danielle loves to cook, listen to music, and has been enjoying getting to know the various neighbourhoods around Toronto.

I went to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia to obtain my Bachelor of Arts Degree after I graduated from a small high school in Manitoba. From there I decided to return to my home province and become a teacher with a Bachelor of Education degree from Brandon University, Brandon Manitoba. After teaching for two years, I knew I wanted to specialize in Inclusive Education and Educational Psychology. The remaining courses and degrees were undertaken on a part-time basis while working as an educator, culminating in a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Psychology, University of Regina, Regina, Saskatchewan.

I have worked as a classroom teacher, resource teacher, curriculum and program developer, administrator of special education, educational psychologist, consultant for ESL and English Enrichment for First Nations’ Peoples and as a university professor.

One of my highlights as a professor was the mentoring of a bright, graduate student who had severe learning difficulties, winning the Governor General’s award for her thesis for her Master of Education degree. She and I had spent many hours labouring over the task of conceptualizing, researching and writing the winning thesis. It was an honour to work with her to help showcase what remarkable skills people possess and their ability to succeed if given the appropriate supports.

I retired from university life at the outset of Covid but I have continued to work online as a mentor with post-secondary students from across the globe. It is rewarding to meet people from all walks of life and to be part of the exciting opportunities presented through online education experiences.

During the pandemic I also volunteered in my community with the food kitchen and donated face coverings to organizations such as the hospice and local schools where parents were not readily able to pay for the cost of masks for their children. I sewed and donated more than 2500 cloth masks. I strongly believe in the spirit of community and social responsibility.

David is an Ontario Certified Teacher with over 8 years tutoring and teaching experience in both private and public schools. He has been a fulltime elementary teacher in both Canada and England, having started his career as a teaching assistant specialising in nurturing students with additional support needs. During his career, he has been responsible for delivering all curriculum subjects to children from kindergarten to grade 6. His students consistently record upward trends in their internal testing averages, and he has helped children to secure places at some of the leading high schools across London, England. David loves working with students who struggle with learning and those who want to extend themselves beyond their current grade level. His teaching utilizes a wide variety of technology, with regular integration of hands-on activities, fun manipulatives and learning projects to inspire and motivate the students. In his spare time, David enjoys swimming and writing children’s literature – his first picture book is due to be published next year.

Deanna is an Ontario College of Teachers certified biology and history teacher at the intermediate and senior levels. In the near future, she hopes to gain additional qualifications in math and social science instruction, as well. In addition to holding a Master of Teaching (MT) degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, Deanna has also obtained an MSc in biology and an Honours BA in humanities from York University. For her academic achievements in these areas, she has earned several scholarships and awards, including the Ontario Graduate Scholarship, which she was the recipient of for two successive years.

Though she is an accomplished academic, teaching is Deanna’s true calling. Altogether, she has over 6 years of experience working and volunteering in education-related contexts with students of all ages and academic levels. In particular, she has obtained extensive volunteer experience with the national charitable organization, Let’s Talk Science, as well as York University’s Bethune College Junior Fellow Program, and U of T’s Global Ideas Institute. In addition to working as a teaching assistant for several undergraduate science courses at York University, Deanna has also acted as a course instructor for a variety of educational summer programs, including York University’s Helix Summer Science Institute and the University of Toronto Schools’ Bright Lights in the Lab summer camp. Deanna has obtained important experience teaching science, biology, and history in a number of Toronto Schools, as well, including North Toronto, Harbord, Riverdale, and W eston Collegiate Institutes.

When she is not busy teaching, Deanna enjoys playing video games, discussing politics, gardening, and hanging out with her cat, Thomas.

Diana will be an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) as of April 2024 and she currently holds a transitional OCT. She graduated with an HBSc from UofT, where she double majored in Biochemistry and Nutritional Sciences in her Life Sciences program. Upon discovering her true passion to teach and make complex science concepts easier to learn, she decided to complete a Master of Teaching degree at OISE. She has received 15 undergrad scholarships and the Canada Graduate Scholarship during her studies. Within her 4+ years of teaching experience, she has taught Science, English, Physics, and Math to grade levels between 7-12 (inclusive of IB students). Her approach to tutoring includes getting to know the student and their preferred teaching style, hearing about their learning experiences, and discovering what works best for them. Diana’s goal in tutoring is to help students build confidence, so that they can thrive at school even without her. A fun fact about Diana is that she got cancelled on TikTok for pronouncing Toronto with the “T”…. Apparently, you only live in Toronto if you call it “Toronno.”

Don Rowsell is a seasoned teacher with 27 years experience. Aside from teaching for the Toronto District School Board he has taught college and university math. In addition he spent several years editing and authoring math textbooks that have been used in classrooms all over North America. He loves to teach, saying “There’s never a dull moment”, and he is thoroughly addicted to learning, with five academic degrees and no intention of stopping. In his spare time, Don is a jazz piano player and uses his talents wherever there is need, including local gigs and working with choirs that have performed in Canada and the United States. For extra-curricular involvement in the schools in which he has taught he has worked on African Heritage month, talent shows, tutoring clinics, literacy initiatives and he has coached soccer.

Eduardo is an experienced and versatile tutor who brings both academic depth and real-world insight to every session. With an Honours BA in Economics from Brock University (where he graduated first in his class), a Master’s from Western University, and doctoral-level coursework at McGill, he has supported students across a wide range of subjects—including economics, business, accounting, mathematics (from algebra to calculus), and Spanish, his native language. He’s worked with learners from high school through to the master’s level, always adapting his approach to meet students needs and understanding where they are in their learning journey.

Over the years, Eduardo has served as a teaching assistant and lecturer at Brock, Western, and McGill, and currently works as a Manager in EY Canada’s Economic Advisory group. His teaching philosophy emphasizes clarity, curiosity, and critical thinking—encouraging students to explore the deeper meaning behind concepts and understand how ideas connect across disciplines. His approach is thoughtful and flexible, with an eye toward building confidence and long-term learning.

Outside of tutoring, Eduardo can be found cheering on Real Madrid, playing in local baseball and soccer leagues, traveling with his fiancée, or playing FIFA/EAFC. Eileen is a Clinical Research Coordinator for both the Neurology and the Interventional Neuroradiology departments at the University Health Network. She has a master’s degree in Medical Science, as well as an Honour’s bachelor’s in science – both with a specialization in Neuroscience. As someone who has been praised for her interpersonal skills, Eileen interacts with students differently depending on their knowledge, personality, interests, and other information she obtains throughout their interaction. She believes it is always important to listen and understand what the student is struggling with. For her students to not be afraid to share their thoughts, she always takes the non-judgmental approach and reinforces the idea of a safe and comfortable tutoring environment with her students. Students who have been tutored by Eileen in the past often compliment her capability to explain difficult concepts, and this is mainly because she understands their weakness and knows how to target that. During her spare time, Eileen likes to run, read, sing, and play musical instruments.

Elda H. is an Ontario Certified Teacher with a strong academic background and international teaching experience in both private and public schools and is highly familiar with the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum across intermediate and secondary grades. She holds a Master of Science in Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Tirana and has taught middle and high school mathematics across multiple grade levels.

Elda has extensive experience teaching Grades 8–12 mathematics, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, introductory calculus, and exam preparation. She is known for creating structured, engaging lessons that break down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps. Her teaching approach emphasizes problem-solving, critical thinking, and real-world applications to help students build both understanding and confidence.

Emilee D. is a dynamic and compassionate educator currently in her second year at Teacher’s College. With a background in Psychology from York University and extensive international experience, Emilee’s teaching journey took her to France, where she excelled as an English teacher, teaching assistant, and tutor. This global perspective has enriched her approach, allowing her to craft engaging, tailored lessons that resonate with students’ individual strengths and needs. Emilee’s enthusiasm and commitment to fostering
meaningful student-teacher connections define her teaching philosophy. As she joins Prep Academy, she is excited to leverage her diverse experience to support and inspire students, all while continuing to grow as an educator. When she’s not tutoring, Emilee enjoys exploring new languages and cultures, often indulging in her love for French cuisine. Emily Egleston is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She completed an Undergraduate Degree in Fine Arts at Queen’s University. After graduating with honours, Emily then moved to Toronto to complete a Bachelors of Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto, with a focus on gifted and talented students and in the intermediate/senior division

Emily then moved to London, UK where she taught Visual Arts at the secondary school level. Upon returning to Canada, Emily acquired further teaching certifications in Primary, and Junior teaching, as well as specialist qualifications in Math, ESL, in addition to her existing teaching qualifications in Special Education, intermediate English, Geography and Visual Arts. She is a full time teacher with the York Region District School Board.

It is through teaching that Emily has been able to share her passion for learning. In her spare time Emily works one-on-one with children ranging from 6 years through secondary school. She has supported the improvement of their reading, writing, vocabulary and math skills. Emily believes that students are able to make great progress through perseverance and individualized attention. She finds these experiences enjoyable and extremely rewarding.

Emily received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from Western University in 2022 and is a teacher candidate in the Master of Teaching program at OISE at the University of Toronto. She has extensive experience working with children in the classroom setting, with practicum experience surrounding EMPOWER reading intervention, as well as UFLI and math intervention. She has worked with children in a sport setting for the past 10 years, and is passionate about creating an environment in which children are inspired to be their best selves. In her free time, she loves reading, being active, and spending time with her cats!

Farhana S. is an Ontario Certified Teacher and the Head of Mathematics at St. Jude’s Academy in Ontario. She is also an IB Diploma Examiner with extensive experience teaching IB, AP, and Ontario curricula and has led mathematics departments at two international schools. Having taught in several countries, she brings a global perspective to her teaching and a deep appreciation for diversity in learning. Farhana once found math intimidating herself, but over time she discovered that with the right tools and guidance, it can be exciting and empowering. That experience drives her passion to be the kind of teacher she wished she had—one who helps students see that math is not something to fear but something to enjoy. She strives to meet every learner where they are, helping those who need confidence while challenging those ready to go further. Outside the classroom, she loves to travel and often jokes that she can say the names of Thai dishes faster in Thai than in English.

Gabriela is currently completing her Master of Teaching at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto, specializing in primary and junior education. As a Toronto native, she also holds an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education from the University of Toronto.

With several years of hands on experience supporting children’s learning and growth, Gabriela has also worked as an early childhood assistant, private nanny, camp counsellor, and soccer coach, as well as a volunteer in multiple Toronto public and independent schools.

Gabriela speaks French and Spanish, and is interested in language learning and cultural exchange. She believes in personalized, child-centred teaching that builds on each student’s strengths and learning style. Her approach is informed by research-backed strategies learned through her studies and applied successfully in real classrooms. She is known for creating a warm, engaging and confidence building learning environment where students feel supported and motivated to reach their goals.

When she’s not teaching, she enjoys staying active by playing soccer, biking around the city, and exploring new places. Her most recent adventures have taken her to Chile, Costa Rica, and Algonquin Park!

Gabrielle is a passionate educator who enjoys teaching students of all ages. She holds a Bachelor of Education with minors in Contemporary Arts, Sociology and Curriculum and Instruction (Joint Honours First Class with Distinction), along with a K-12 teaching certification. In addition to academic teaching, Gabrielle has taught dance for many years. She has also trained in dance and performed professionally across Canada, the United States and Europe. While dancing with a ballet company in Geneva, Switzerland, Gabrielle worked in a French-speaking environment for six months. This experience enhanced her French language skills, which she developed as a student at Brown Public School and The Bishop Strachan School. Gabrielle is grateful to be a Prep Academy Tutor!

Gale is a senior at the University of Toronto majoring in physics and philosophy. He has been working with children of all ages for more than five years, and has taught math, science and English as a private tutor for over three years. Gale is a former debate team captain and DECA champion, and spent a great deal of time coaching high school students in those competitions. Mathematics and the sciences are just a few of Gale’s many areas of interest; he loves to read novels, play tennis and listen to music of all kinds.

Gale has always loved to teach, so he started working with children in early high school: first as a swim instructor, then as a teacher’s assistant, and finally as a private tutor. He has taught students as young as four, and as old as seventeen. Gale is very comfortable with kids, and knows how to make academic material as fun and engaging as it can be. Whether a child is struggling with a subject, or trying to excel in it, he can help them reach their academic goals. George received his undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto in 2009 with a double major in Math and Chemistry, followed by a Bachelor of Education at Tyndale University specializing in Junior, Intermediate, and Senior levels. George’s diverse experiences working with students of all ages and backgrounds, as a classroom instructor, home tutor, and international teacher have framed his love of learning and passion to teach.

Following his B.Ed., George worked as a contract teacher in England in his first year and has gained invaluable experiences in a classroom setting. He has worked with students who excel at Math/Science as well as students with LD’s and helped them gain confidence and positive results. Since coming back from the UK, George have been teaching for a number of private institutes as well as 1-on-1 tutoring all across Ontario. George is also fluent in Mandarin and loves to play board games and watch basketball in his spare time.

Giuseppe C. (PhD in Classical Archaeology, University of Texas at Austin 2019; MA in the same, UT Austin 2016; BA in Classics, Columbia University 2009) has a decade of teaching experience at the high school and university level. He is comfortable teaching Latin, history, and the humanities at all levels and is capable of tutoring in French and Italian as well. In his spare time, Giuseppe enjoys cooking, archery, Dungeons and Dragons, and historical fencing. In 2011, Gowsi earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Political Science from York University. The following year, she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Human Rights and Equity Studies from the same institution. Seeking to deepen her expertise in human rights advocacy, Gowsi pursued and completed a Master of Arts in Immigration and Settlement Studies at Ryerson University in 2013. In 2019, she furthered her education, obtaining a Master of Teaching (Intermediate/Senior Level) from the University of Toronto (OISE).

Post-OISE graduation, Gowsi embarked on her teaching journey with notable institutions including the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), The Bishop Strachan School, and the University of Toronto Schools. Guided by a teaching philosophy emphasizing the creation of a nurturing and positive learning environment, she prioritizes tailored instruction that caters to individual learner needs and styles.

Gurnish is a Biomedical Engineering Graduate student at University of Toronto. She completed her Undergraduate Degree in Medical Physics at Western University in London, ON. During her time at Western, Gurnish worked with Frontier College as a tutor for elementary, and secondary school students helping them with math and sciences. Gurnish has also worked as a Physics Learning Coach where she integrated the course curriculum with valuable learning skills. As a tutor and mentor, Gurnish strongly believes in the power of appreciate advising, where we work together to optimize the student’s educational experience and goals. In her spare time, Gurnish enjoys reading, playing trombone and martial arts.

Hannah R. recently graduated from University of Toronto with an HBSc in Astronomy & Astrophysics and History & Philosophy of Science. She excelled academically, receiving many scholarships in math and physics in addition to being a Rhodes Scholarship Finalist and graduating with a 4.0 CGPA. During university Hannah gained teaching experience as an intern at Toronto French School working with grade 11 & 12 Theory of Knowledge students, and as a teaching assistant for a university course about the History of Math. She also kept herself busy as the president of the History & Philosophy of Science Undergraduate Society and as an athletic trainer for her college’s dragonboat team. Hannah has always been passionate about education and as she grew older she became more acutely aware of the opportunities afforded to her from her own education. This awareness inspired her to launch an affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a charity which mails books to preschool children, to help support early education in her hometown of Saskatoon. Hannah’s passion for education grew deeper throughout her studies as she recognized the necessity of effective science education for a fruitful science-society relationship. She is eager to share her knowledge and enthusiasm for science with students to help them not only succeed in their courses, but to better understand the world around them. Hannah’s diverse educational background enables her to help students succeed in many subjects. In her free time, Hannah can be found at the gym training for her next powerlifting meet. If she shows up to a tutoring session with a massive backpack, it is probably full of snacks and lifting gear because she is headed to the gym after!

Hardeep is a graduate of University of Toronto with a degree in Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc) in Chemical Engineering. He also holds a Certificate in Engineering Business with a focus on Financial Accounting and Corporate Finance. He currently works as a Financial Controller at Labatt Breweries. Teaching is Hardeep’s one of many passions which he has been pursuing since Grade 12. His teaching style has evolved into a personalized student-centred approach which makes learning difficult concepts easier and fun. In his free time, Hardeep loves to read mystery novels, cook extravagant dinners for his friends and travel to the Cottage country (weather permitting).

Harman is an Ontario Certified Senior Teacher that Specializes in Mathematics and Science and works with students from Junior kindergarten to high school at ROTMAN ARTS & SCIENCE SCHOOL, Vaughan . Harman graduated with her Masters in Mathematics, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Education

her approach to teaching is to focus on helping her students understand and master the material, rather than just memorize formulas or techniques. She believes that this is a key to long-term success in any subject.

To achieve this, Harman uses numerous teaching methods and resources in her lessons. This might include interactive investigation, problem- solving exercises, or visual aids such as diagram graphs or flow charts. She also encourages her students to ask questions and actively participate in the learning process, this helps them develop a deeper understanding of the subject and makes the learning process more enjoyable.

Knowing that there are different learning styles, Harman makes an effort to tailor her lessons to individual needs and learning styles. For Example, if a student is more visual, she might use more diagrams and flow charts in her lessons, while if a student is more hands-on, she might use more interactive or problem-solving exercises .

Harris is an OCT certified teacher working towards a career in data science. Born and raised in Honduras, Harris has a Masters degree in Physics and a Bachelors degree in Mathematics. Harris has two years experience teaching high school in Toronto and a total of 12 years of combined tutoring experience dating back to his Undergraduate years. During Graduate school, Harris taught physics labs to pre-med students and gave lectures in physics to first year physics classes. His experience spans from tutoring math (grades 9-12 and first year university) and physics (grades 11-12, IB and first year university), tutoring grade 10 science, grade 11 computer science, grade 12 data management, and grade 12 calculus from the TDSB curriculum. Given his data science pursuit, he can also be of assistance with beginner’s Python programming language as well. Most computer science courses in high school are moving towards teaching object-oriented programming. Harris is a huge fan of comedy and sports so he uses both of those aspects to connect with students.

Hayley is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with a diverse range of teaching experience across various grade levels. Currently working at an independent IB school in Toronto, she is passionate about creating engaging, inquiry-based lessons that inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning. With a Bachelor of Education in Primary/Junior, Hayley is skilled at designing hands-on lessons that cater to the individual needs of her students.

Her teaching experience spans a variety of settings, including Montessori classrooms and outdoor education programs, allowing her to bring a well-rounded and flexible approach to her work. Outside the classroom, Hayley is passionate about gardening and cooking. She is also a proud pet owner of Frankie, her clever cat who loves to show off his tricks! Helena is a Teacher Candidate at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto, with a specialization in history at the Junior/Intermediate level. She brings over a decade of experience teaching in private schools across Toronto, where she has developed a patient, supportive, and engaging approach to working with students. Helena holds a Master of Arts degree from the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science, also from U of T. Drawing on her academic background and years of classroom experience, Helena is committed to helping students build confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and achieve their academic goals. Hi! I’m Hongyu and I am currently studying for my Master of Education at OISE, University of Toronto. I’m also a certified teacher (OCT). I completed my Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education in Kamloops, BC, where I got my BC teaching certification before moving to Toronto.

I specialize in teaching math and physics for grades 9-12, and I’ve also taught Chemistry 11. Whether it’s Pre-Calculus, Advanced Functions, or Calculus, I love helping students tackle challenging concepts and build confidence.

I’m originally from China, so Mandarin is my first language, but I’m fluent in English too—so no worries about communication! Outside of teaching, I’m into photography, traveling, working out, and I’ve recently started learning video editing.

Huma received her undergraduate degree in English from Queen’s University in 2009 and her Bachelor of Education from Trent University in 2015. She has received additional qualifications in teaching English Language Learners and Kindergarten. Huma has delivered goal-oriented curriculum lessons in classrooms from Kindergarten to grade 6; she has taught digital literacy through game design; and, she has sensitized her students to the magic in their lives through science and art programs. Ines has a Master Degree in Marketing and has a Bachelor degree in Education. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher with 10 years of teaching experience. Ines is a native french who teaches maths, sciences and french at a public elementary school. Additionally, she completed an AQ (additional qualification) in Special Education. She has a strong experience working with students with special needs (Autistic spectrum, TDAH, learning disabilities, dyslexia, dyscalculia …).
Ines has a true passion for helping students grow and reach their full potential, she is committed to working with them in a personalized manner to help them achieve their goals.

Irene is an Ontario Certified Teacher at the Intermediate/Senior level and has taught in the Toronto District School Board for over ten years. She graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science and went on to complete her Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa. Irene is qualified to teach grade 9/10 Science, grade 11/12 Chemistry and grade 11 Biology. She also has experience teaching grades 1-10 Mathematics as well. Outside of teaching, Irene enjoys more active and creative ventures including: Zumba, table tennis, piano, scrapbooking, baking/cake decorating and is currently learning how to salsa and crochet!

Jacqueline recently graduated with a Master of Teaching degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto with qualifications in Primary/Junior. Her research focus was on the impact technology has on developing students’ critical thinking skills, specifically in the area of literacy. Additionally, in October of 2019, she received a certificate of completion in the Master of Teaching Digital Day at OISE. She also successfully completed the Primary/Junior Math Part One Additional Qualification course with OISE. She is an adaptive, reflective and organized teacher with a strong work ethic who cares deeply about the needs of all students. With several years’ experience in education under her belt, she is looking to make an impact in the development of children’s education.

Jacqueline’s specialty is literacy, math, science and technology. She has worked closely with teachers to improve students’ reading and writing skills by facilitating literacy circles, one-on-one reading sessions, as well as incorporating visual and digital learning tools in the classroom to aid in key learning concepts. She has worked with remedial math programs to help kids focus on big ideas and teach explicit strategies in mathematics.

Jacqueline’s schooling undergraduate education in media and communications has also taken her to Belgium where she not only immersed herself in Belgian culture but travelled all over Europe. She loves to experience new cultures and constantly has a case of the “travel bug”. She has set off to places including Australia, the Caribbean, and many parts of the U.S. and Canada. During her leisure time, Jacqueline loves to dance and can be seen taking jazz funk classes at her favourite studio in downtown Toronto.

Jacqueline is currently completing her Master of Teaching degree at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, specializing in Primary/Junior education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from McGill University and can teach all subjects from Kindergarten through Grade 6. Her teaching approach prioritizes both academic success and social-emotional well-being, whether she is delivering whole-class lessons, guiding small groups, or working one-on-one with students to help them meet personalized learning goals.

Her teaching journey has included placements in Grade 1 and Grade 3 classrooms with the Toronto District School Board, where she implemented creative literacy, math, science, and physical education lessons, incorporated culturally responsive practices, and established strong routines to support student learning. As a counsellor and later staff supervisor at Camp Winston, an overnight camp for children and teens with complex neurodiversity, she provided personalized care, facilitated skill-building activities, designed swim lessons, and mentored a large team of staff to ensure a safe, enriching experience for every camper. Her work as an Environmental Educator with Ecosource and an Outdoor Educator at the Cheakamus Centre allowed her to share her passion for environmental stewardship, delivering engaging workshops and leading land-based programs.

Outside of her professional work, Jacqueline enjoys swimming (which she did competitively from Grades 3 to 12), going to the gym, and, most recently, learning pickleball. She has a love for thrifting, exploring nature through camping and hiking, and discovering new music. At home, she loves spending time with her Russian blue-tabby cat, Ollie.

James is an Ontario Certified teacher. He grew up in Toronto, getting a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and working as an Early Childhood Educator for over 6 years. As an Early Childhood Educator James created lesson plans, performed assessments for learning and worked with schools to better advance the students learning while in childcare. After working as an ECE, James went to York University and got his Undergraduate Degree in Communications; leading to a job as the Communications Manager at Ondas FM. While working during the pandemic James felt like teaching was his main purpose and is now in his final year of Teachers College at York University. He has worked as a Teaching Candidate for a Kindergarten class as well as a tutor for Elementary School students over the last year supporting students in their reading, writing, vocabulary as well as math skills. James has a passion in creative writing and brings in his background in Communications and Early Childhood Education while teaching and tutoring students.

Jerry was born in Paris, France and has recently moved to Toronto. He is a software developer with a great passion in making learning engaging and accessible for students of all ages. He has 8 years of experience working with students ages 5 – 60 in Dance and Math.
Jerry holds a degree in Biology and Computer Sciences from (name of university). In his spare time, Jerry enjoys cooking, honing his skills as a hip-hop dancer, and creating mobile games.

Jigyasa is an enthusiastic and a diligent teacher with natural ability to appreciate and inspire children.
Having acquired a bachelor degree in Information Technology, Bachelors in Education and Masters in Psychology, she possesses thorough understanding of implementing its use in lesson preparation while understanding the mindset and requirement of students. She possesses in depth understanding and experience of teaching in an IB school along with thorough comprehension of Ontario curriculum.
With a rare combination of Numeracy and Language, and more than 8 years of tutoring experience in Maths and French, Jigyasa has documented and quantified success in providing activities and materials that engage and challenge the students intellectually.

Jose has background in mechanical engineering and a Master of Science in engineering, with multiple achievements throughout his career including graduate and postgraduate scholarships, Honoris Causa degree, patent applications and academic publications, among others. He has 4+ years of experience as engineer in fields such as robotics, data science and engineering design. He’s also led different classrooms, teaching quantitative subjects including programming, engineering physics and mathematics, while providing guidance and mentoring for senior students and undergrads. His interest in learning and curiosity led him to master English, Spanish, French and some German. In his spare time, Jose enjoys reading and practicing sports with friends such as soccer and basketball. In his teaching career he has always been interested in sharing with his students how practical tricks, habits and framing can help students master difficult subjects and succeed.

Joseph is an Ontario Certified Teacher. He received his teacher certification from Queen’s University in 2016, with a specialization in Primary/Junior divisions and, later, Intermediate Mathematics from Trent University. During this time, Joseph tutored students from Kindergarten to Grade 10 and in all subject areas. In the past few years he has worked as a Mathematics class teacher and has experience teaching students in grades 5, 6, 7 and 8. Joseph is currently teaching Grade 7 and 8 Mathematics at a private school in Toronto. In the past he has presented interactive in-class science workshops through Scientists in School and also managed a daily after-school program for at-risk youth. Outside of the classroom Joseph enjoys being outside of the classroom – whether it’s running, canoeing, or coaching basketball/softball. He has developed a passion for outdoor education volunteering at Evergreen Brickworks, as a camp counsellor, and even earned an Environmental Education specialization at Queen’s University. Joseph believes that the key to a positive learning environment is strong relationships and so he takes the time to understand students’ interests, needs, and unique learning profile. In his spare time Joseph also enjoys reading, board games and playing guitar.

Julia is an Ontario Certified Teacher who grew up in Toronto. She recently received her Master’s of Teaching degree from the University of Toronto where she also completed her Bachelors of Science in Biology. Julia has a passion for teaching STEM subjects and completed her research thesis on how to improve science teacher self-efficacy in elementary school teachers. Prior to completing her Master’s she worked for over 4 years in Taipei, Taiwan as a classroom teacher and developed a love for the country’s culture and food. Aside from classroom teaching, she has also taught SSAT prep and loves to help her students reach their academic goals. When Julia isn’t teaching, she loves biking and has done many long distance rides all over the world.

Kameel is your one-stop shop for tutoring in math, science, English, French, and humanities for grades K through 11! With 4 years of tutoring experience, he has developed engaging methods to help students with different learning styles reach their full potential in the classroom. Kameel completed his undergraduate degree at McGill University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in immunology at the University of Toronto. His unique perspective may be especially useful to students with interests in research or medicine. Kameel spends his spare time volunteering for seniors and writing children’s stories encouraging compassion and understanding regarding certain medical conditions. Kameel also enjoys working on his basketball skills (go raptors), playing Pokémon Go with his nephew, and going camping close to his hometown in Montreal with his cat, Cleo.

Kamrun grew up in Ottawa before moving to Toronto to attend the University of Toronto, where she earned her Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience and Biology. Shortly after graduating, she was offered a teaching position at a private school, sparking her passion for education. With over seven years of experience teaching Grades 3–8 in private schools across Toronto, she has a strong background in the Ontario curriculum. In addition to classroom teaching, Kamrun has provided one-on-one tutoring both in school and after school, helping students strengthen their skills, build confidence, and reach their academic goals. Kamrun’s teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that students should grow not only academically, but also socially, emotionally, and mentally. Karel is a biologist and a Science and Math teacher. He was born in Havana, Cuba, where he studied at the University of Havana, Cuba’s top high center of studies. He graduated from Biology, later taking the courses for the Master’s Degree of Marine Ecology, becoming a researcher in Marine Biology, specialized on Fish Biology and Ecology. He has done research on coral reefs and other tropical marine ecosystems, mostly focused on fish communities and occasionally also assessing sharks for both Ecology and Fisheries. He’s done a lot of marine research on vessels, which includes many hours of SCUBA diving, performing fish community censuses. He has taught postgraduate courses about his specialty, and also contributed for High School and University teaching, back in Cuba, for both general Biology and for national courses on Environmental Education, including being one of the advisors for “Universidad para todos” (University for everyone) for the Cuban national TV. He started teaching in Ontario in 2019, where he has taught Math (Functions) for 11 and 12 grades, including Calculus for 12, as well as Chemistry for 11 and 12 and of course, Biology for both grades, that being his own field. He has also taught some optional courses, like Kinesiology for 12 grade. He loves diving, hiking and camping, and on his spare time he reads History and also sings regularly with the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir (mostly classical music), the one singing with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, something he finds to be very rewarding emotionally.

This is Kate M. and her pronouns are she/her. Kate is a neurodivergent queer educator, Registered Early Childhood Educator, and an Ontario Certified Teacher. As an educator, who has been involved in a variety of Early Childhood Education and Care and school settings for seven years in Waterloo and Toronto, Kate has experienced continuous professional learning opportunities through engaging with children, educators, teachers, supervisors, principles, families, and the community. Kate continues to be flexible in adapting her teaching philosophy to the changing world that we all live in. Her teachable academic subjects are in Primary-Junior that includes introduction to special education and mental health. Her main passion is music and this has been a part of her life since she was very young. Kate has been singing in music festivals since she was 8 years old. This led to choral singing and voice lessons with the Royal Conservatory of Music, completing level 8, and then having the experience to teach music lessons privately as well as through Wilfred Laurier University. Kate has also learned how to play guitar, flute, piano, ukulele, and the mandolin as well as studying music theory. Her interests and hobbies are in music, the arts, outdoor education, as well as exploring the city, traveling, and visiting friends and family.

Kate was born and raised in Hamilton and now resides in Toronto. She graduated from the Master of Teaching program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) in the primary/junior division. At OISE, Kate completed four practicums at different elementary schools in the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). She has an undergraduate degree in linguistics from the Glendon Campus at York University. Kate has a wide range of experiences teaching students from kindergarten to grade 12. Most recently, she spent over a year working remotely for a remedial and enrichment program that targeted reading, comprehension, spelling, and writing. Kate believes in empowering students to use tools and strategies when faced with challenges in their learning. She has continuously gravitated towards leadership roles that accentuate her creativity and outgoing personality. From leading educational tours with grade 7 and 8 students to tutoring international high schoolers in English, Kate has always been passionate and committed to supporting learners of all ages and abilities. She hopes to spread her love of learning and encourage students to realize their own potential as lifelong learners. She loves spending time with her friends, family, and brother’s dog named Cali. Kate enjoys going on long walks in the city, tuning into live music, and supporting independent coffee shops.

Katherine is in her Masters of Applied Science in Biomedical Engineering. During her engineering undergraduate degree, she built electrocardiograms (ECGs), coded model patient intake systems, and developed a mobile application for American Sign Language (ASL). Now, you can find her mixing chemicals at the lab bench for studying neurodegenerative disease and bacteria.

Katherine first discovered tutoring in high school, where she worked 1-on-1 with grade 9 and 10 students in Academic French classes. At Ryerson University, she helped undergraduate students understand the fundamental science which would serve as a foundation for the rest of their learning as a teaching assistant. Katherine also continued tutoring youth aged 5-18 in reading, writing, and French. In addition to academic guidance, Katherine realized the value of fostering a safe, welcoming space for learning and understood that a diverse set of people requires a diverse set of interactions and responses. She served as Vice-Captain, and later House Captain, responsible for a group of 150+ incoming students during the week-long orientation programming that she helped facilitate. As elected Director in her faculty’s Student Society, it became clear to her that developing an open rapport was key to fostering an environment of support among one’s peers and mentors. This values-driven mindset led Katherine to volunteer with vulnerably housed populations in palliative care.

Katherine received her Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Geography from Western University. She has gone on to complete her Masters of Teaching at OISE in the Junior/Intermediate division. Katherine has experience teaching English, Geography and writing skills to students in the intermediate grades (7-9), and she has also worked with primary students in the areas of math, science and english. Katherine is also a trained Direct Instruction Reading Mastery, Connecting Math Concepts and Spelling Mastery tutor. She is also an SSAT coach. Katherine has had practical teaching experience in both the public and private school systems as well as doing volunteer work as a mentor/coach in the Thames Valley District School Board. These experiences have taught her the importance of differentiated instruction and assessment in order for all students to succeed. Katherine graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Language and Literature and History. While completing her undergraduate degree, Katherine was selected to partake in an internship program at an international school in Dubai. It was during this experience that she discovered her passion for teaching and travel. After such time, Katherine moved to Australia where she obtained her Postgraduate Teaching Degree from the University of the Sunshine Coast. After spending two years teaching in London, England, and three years at a private international school in Hamilton, Ontario, Katherine has settled back in Toronto and is currently teaching within the Toronto Catholic District School Board. With over seven years of teaching experience, Katherine has worked with students from a diverse range of backgrounds and exceptionalities. She has also taught a wide array of courses/subjects at both the elementary and secondary levels. Katherine fully believes in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that supports all learning styles and she strives to engage her students in authentic, creative, and rigorous learning experiences. It is with a passion that Katherine helps children to develop their skills in all facets of life. She teaches a religion course one night a week and coaches a volleyball and swim team. When Katherine is not teaching, she enjoys travelling, reading, and spending time with her friends and family. Katherine is also an avid swimmer and softball player.

She has continued her professional development through extensive training, including, IB PYP and MYP certifications, and specialized courses in the RULER Approach, YogaFit, and Group Fitness Instruction.

As both a classroom teacher and private tutor, Katie combines her extensive background in the field of education and the arts to design engaging, individualized programs that inspire creativity, connection, and confidence. She is known for her warm and encouraging presence, her ability to foster emotional regulation through art and movement, and her commitment to meeting each learner exactly where they are.

Katie received her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto in English with a double minor in History and Sociology. Katie is currently completing her Masters of Teaching at OISE, with a specialization in Junior/Intermediate and a research focus on Mindfulness education. Katie has been a TDSB Tutor at Monarch Park C.I. and Sir John A MacDonald C.I. She also has volunteer experience at CARD (a horseback riding program for disabled children), has worked as a Camp Counselor at Play Loft and is currently teaching piano and yoga to children during Play Loft’s after-school program. Katie has experience with grade 6-8 students teaching English, Science, Math, Drama and Social Studies and is a trained SSAT and Organizational coach. Katie loves to inspire her students in fun and creative ways.

Kellie is a full-time teacher at Tanenbaum CHAT. She graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor Degree with a double major in History and English. The following year she completed a Masters Degree in History from Queen’s University. In 2020 she graduated from OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) at the University of Toronto with a Masters in Teaching. Kellie is qualified to teach Junior, Intermediate and Senior levels with a focus in History and English literacy. Kellie has always been passionate about education and working with youth. She has experience working with a broad range of students from K-12, teaching students with I.E.Ps as well as in I.B. classes. Her love of traveling has given her perspectives on different cultures and has translated into becoming a teacher who relates to students from diverse backgrounds. She knows that learning is a life-long process and believes in finding engaging, and creative solutions to ensure that each student reach their full potential and enjoy the process along the way!

Kelly is an Ontario Certified Teacher. After graduating from Don Mills CI, she attended York University, where she completed an Honor Bachelor of Arts, Double Major in Communication Studies and Sociology. She then attended and graduated from York University’s Faculty of Education in 2010. Shortly after graduating from teacher’s college, she was hired by the York Region District School Board, where she is currently a primary teacher.
Kelly is most passionate about teaching our earliest learners. This passion is evident as she has, and continues, to take a number of courses and attend workshops around the development and learning of children in the early years. In 2018 she began to work towards her Kindergarten Specialist, which she completed in May 2019. Her area of particular interest is supporting our youngest learners in the development of literacy behaviors and skills (oral, reading, and writing). Through her in-class experience, she has had the pleasure of working with many students whose needs and abilities range, this includes supporting and working with learners with language barriers and exceptionalities, such as Autism and Learning Disabilities. Kelly genuinely believes that with care, encouragement, patience, and one-to-one support, all students are capable of being both happy and successful when learning. In addition, she finds great joy in communicating and working with families as a partnership to support a child’s learning.

When taking a break from teaching, Kelly spends her free time with family and friends. She enjoys spending lots of time outdoors in the summer, traveling, dancing, and working out.

Kelly has a Master’s of Education specializing in Language and Literacy from Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. She has extensive English teaching experience towards a wide range of literacy backgrounds (towards various nationalities) and a wide range of ages (from age 14 to 65). Also as a casual instructor at York University, she prepares her students for university-level English. Kelly specializes in youth learning engagements, practical language applications, and lesson personalization to suit needs and interests. Students will learn to develop foundational literacy skills such as writing structure, phonological awareness, and reading comprehension. During her spare time, Kelly enjoys visiting art galleries, exploring the city, and singing on her guitar. She also has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Architectural Studies and Visual Arts from the University of Toronto.

Kelvin Hui first graduated from Queen’s University in 2008. In 2009, he then graduated from OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) at the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Education in the Intermediate/Senior grade levels.

Since then, he taught anywhere and everywhere! He taught in public schools, private schools, Montessori schools, and several schools overseas. He jumped at the opportunity to teach in both England and China. He absolutely loves traveling, immersing himself in a new country and new culture, and most importantly, teaching students of course! Through these experiences, Kelvin developed a deep passion for working with young children and guiding them to reach their fullest potential. He understands that learning is a process that requires hard work and patience.

Kevin’s journey as an educator and physicist began in Iran, where his deep curiosity about the world led him to pursue a degree in physics. After completing his master’s, he took a leap across the globe to Canada and then to the USA, earning his PhD in Physics from the University of Waterloo and a Postdoc at Harvard University. But while his research explored the fascinating world of quantum physics, his true passion has always been teaching. Kevin has taught everything from high school physics and calculus to advanced graduate-level quantum mechanics. He’s not just an instructor but a mentor, known for his ability to make complex concepts accessible, engaging, and even fun. His students consistently rate him highly, praising his enthusiasm, clarity, and the sense of excitement he brings to the classroom. He’s also taken his love for education home, personally guiding his own kids through their academic journeys, from elementary school math to high school physics. He also enjoys helping young students explore different fields, guiding them toward university majors they’ll not only succeed in but truly enjoy. But life isn’t all equations and experiments for Kevin. A lifelong soccer player, he thrives on the teamwork and strategy of the game, and in recent years, he’s taken up the challenge of learning a musical instrument, proving that it’s never too late to pick up new skills. Whether he’s inspiring a classroom of students, coaching a young mind on career choices, or kicking a ball on the field, Kevin brings energy, humour, and a genuine love for learning to everything he does.

Khue has an Honours Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Economics from the Toronto Metropolitan University. She is knowledgeable, compassionate, and approachable. With 2+ years of experience tutoring elementary-grade students in Mathematics, English, Science, and IELTS, Khue has developed engaging methods to assist students with different backgrounds and learning styles to achieve their full academic potential. Her approach emphasizes giving her students positive mindsets and helping them to understand the materials to the core. Khue believes that good attitudes and correct and effective study habits will benefit students in achieving long-term academic success. Kirby is an experienced tutor and teaches grade 9-11 maths, advanced functions, calculus and computer science. Krystal Dos Santos is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She originally went to school to become an editor and completed an undergraduate degree double majoring in English and History, with a minor in Latin. She then got her publishing certificate and worked as an editor for a while. Though she liked her job, she often had very little contact with the authors, and wanted to be able to work with writers more and coach and improve their writing skills. She decided to switch gears and go back to school for her Masters of Teaching at OISE, University of Toronto. Krystal has a range of experience that she brings to teaching, including coaching a national level sports team, instructing recreational programs, directing a camp focused on games and learning, working on literacy programs, and being on various scholarship and evaluation committees. These experiences have shaped her ability to help students in many stages of their growth and learning, and have informed much of her research — some of which she has presented at a conference recently! Though Krystal loves literature in general, the history side of her likes digging into the past and also appreciates classics such as Shakespeare.

Lander is an Ontario Certified Teacher who graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in English, a Bachelor of Education, and Minor in Social Sciences from York University. Throughout his six-year undergraduate degree, Lander consistently worked within the education sector which included leadership roles in school field trips, and clay sculpture workshops. After work, Lander can typically be found in his apartment with his cat Ezra, watching a quality film. Lander is an individual who is passionate and dedicated to his teacher’s craft, and seeks to hone his skills alongside his students with an energetic and motivated personality – above all, Lander wants to see his students succeed.

Lauren has worked for 13 years as a Primary teacher for the York Region District School Board (YRDSB), received her certification as a Reading Specialist and she is currently completing courses to receive her certification in Special Education. Her journey into teaching began as a graduate of the Claude Watson School for the Arts in Toronto. She went on to teach and support the audition process for this esteemed program. She then received her Bachelor of Arts Honors degree in Kinesiology from Western University. While attending Western University, she started an acrobatics program and taught many dance students at a local dance studio. Pursuing her passion for teaching, she then went on to complete her Bachelor of Education in Primary/Junior at York University. Throughout her educational experiences, Lauren has made time to volunteer in TDSB schools to support student learning.

Dr. Laxshaa Nadpurajah is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in education, data analysis, digital content management, fitness, and nutrition. She holds a Doctorate in Business Administration; a Master of Education, specializing in Assessment & Evaluation; and a Master of Management Analytics, both from Queen’s University. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Honours Psychology and Criminal Justice & Public Policy from the University of Guelph.

Lesley has a Bachelor of Arts in English literature and a Secondary School Education Diploma from McGill University. Lyn Ogilvy is an Ontario Certified Teacher. Lyn grew up in Montreal and completed her Honours Wildlife Biology Degree and her Bachelor of Education in Ontario. Lyn spent a memorable first year teaching in New Zealand, where she discovered a passion for teaching and took advantage of the extraordinary outdoor activities she loves. Lyn has taught High School Science for over 30 years in Ontario, coaching and chaperoning outdoor education trips throughout her career. As an experienced High School Science Teacher, Lyn has extensive experience teaching and illustrating science concepts in a variety of ways that caters to individual student needs. She was a team leader in developing course materials for Grades 11 and 12 Biology with an emphasis on the development of a creative approach to the illustration of complex biological processes. She also worked closely with school librarians to develop curriculum to enhance student research skills and critical thinking. Mabel graduated from the University of Ottawa with a BASc. in Mechanical Engineering. She has years of industry experience working in HVAC design, control automation, building energy efficiency and construction projects. Through her engineering background, she has honed her skills in explaining highly technical concepts to laymen, particularly in math and physics. Since she was a young girl, Mabel has had a love of all things STEM and hopes that she can pass on this passion to others. Mahmoud is a Science and Humanities educator based in the GTA, dedicated to helping students build the learning strategies and confidence needed for academic and personal success. Mahmoud studied at the University of Toronto, completing a Bachelors Degree in Neuroscience and Mental Health and a Masters degree in Biology and Psychology. During this time, Mahmoud’s love for learning transformed to a passion for teaching, so he served as an educator at the University of Toronto for 6 years, shifting his focus over the last 3 years to support K-12 students in Math, Science and Humanities. Matt completed his Bachelors of Science at the University of Windsor with Honours Chemistry and a Minor in Mathematics. Another passion is cooking, which was nurtured through cooking with his Mother and Nonna. For many years, Max worked for the PC Cooking Schools where he ran cooking classes that taught important skills such as the science of baking and the importance of nutrition. Mehrdad has been teaching and tutoring students since the age of 18. His experience spans from grade 7 to university level students, with a focus on mathematics (all high-school subjects), coding (along with algorithms) and physics. He has been passionate about these subjects from an early age and actively participated in several related competitions during high school and university.

She recently returned home to Toronto after teaching MYP Math at a leading international IB school in Beijing, China, for three years.

Mike is an Ontario Certified Teacher who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education from Wilfrid Laurier University and Nipissing University. Mike has over eight years of experience in front of different classrooms and instructional opportunities and has completed two LTOs in Waterloo Region District School Board since graduating his post-secondary studies. Primarily working in French Immersion, Mike is a former French Immersion student himself and is an advocate for learning French as a Second Language. Mikhail is an Ontario Certified Teacher working for the Peel District School Board. He grew up in Toronto, moving to Iowa to complete an Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration where he earned a full golf scholarship. Mikhail grew up with a deep passion for golf and took the opportunity to play and teach it professionally following the completion of his degrees. It was during his stay in Iowa that Mikhail discovered his passion for teaching and working with children. When he decided to pursue teaching as a career Mikhail moved to Peterborough and completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Trent. Mina Dahesh graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts in French Studies and Graphic Design. She has tutored locally and taught ESL and FSL internationally for over 4 years to students of all ages. Additionally, she has experience working with children and youth in both daycare and outdoor education settings. She has even worked as an au pair in the Netherlands!

She then continued her studies and went on to complete additional qualifications for Primary/Junior grade levels and a specialization in Special Education. Soon after graduation, Monique was hired by the York Catholic District School Board where she continues to work today. Monique believes that engaging students using their curiosity and interests is crucial in helping them gain the confidence they require to succeed. Monique believes that by building a strong relationship with her students she is better able to meet their needs and ensure they are successful. As a teacher Monique continues to develop strategies for working with children and young adults. Monique grew up with a deep love of travel and adventure and took the opportunity to work abroad at the Canadian School of Milan for a year. This was an incredible experience as it allowed Monique to immerse into a different culture and teach a wide multitude of students. During the summer months, Monique taught Zumba and nutrition at a fitness camp at UCSD in San Diego, California. Natalie F. is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) who currently teaches at an independent IB school in Toronto. Nawi has been working with children of all ages and abilities for many years, in classroom settings and one-on-one. Currently, he is a Teacher Candidate at OISE in the Primary/Junior Program. He has a BA in English and History from the University of Toronto, which makes him confident in tutoring Intermediate and Senior students in those subjects. He is fluent in Spanish, speaks intermediate French, and has worked in schools in Canada, Guatemala, and the UK. His love of language, working with children, and his ability to build strong relationships led him to teaching. Working with children of various abilities has helped Nawi develop a patient and open teaching approach that is tailored to his students’ individual needs. Neil is a recent graduate from the University of Toronto, graduating with a BSc in Biology, Statistics, and French. Neil has a passion for the sciences and math and hopes to pursue a Masters’s degree in Biostatistics or Bioinformatics. He has worked as a research assistant and a lab manager for various biological science labs for the university.

He enjoys biking and film and is currently in the process of publishing his undergraduate thesis on the ecological effects of invasive species.

Nicole Camilleri is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She grew up in Mississauga, moving to Hamilton to complete an Undergraduate Degree in Early Childhood Leadership. She also has a diploma in Early Childhood Education and Educational Assistance. Nicole received her Bachelor of Education from Brock University. Nicole grew up with a deep love of soccer, travel and all things nature and outdoors. Before completing her Bachelor of Education Nicole worked for Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board as an Early Childhood Educator, where she was intrigued by the child’s mind and furthered her studies becoming an Educational Assistant and working with high needs students on the autism spectrum. It was during her time working with special needs students that she discovered her patience, passion for teaching and her desire to work with children on a higher level. When she decided to pursue teaching as a career Nicole moved to London and is now teaching with the London District Catholic School Board. It is through teaching that Nicole has been able to foster her love of the mind with a focus on mental health/well being and language/ literacy. During the summer months, Nicole runs a Soccer Camp that encourages children to learn about themselves through interactive and hands-on experiences, promoting social growth and physical activity. In her spare time Nicole works one-on-one with children ranging from 6 years through middle school. She has supported the improvement of their reading, writing, vocabulary and math skills in these initiatives. Nicole believes that by building a strong relationship with her students she is better able to meet their needs and grow their learning. Nicole is an Ontario Certified Teacher with qualifications ranging from K-12 and a focus in Senior Chemistry and Biology. Olivia is a medical student at McMaster, having completed a Bachelors in Medical Sciences and a Minor in Health Sciences at Western University. Along with her passion for science, Olivia loves mentoring and has been described as a good-humoured, thoughtful, and caring teacher. Olivia tutored languages throughout high school and then organic chemistry in university, and she has also helped run science workshops in her community. Paul graduated from the University of Toronto in 2015 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in English literature and visual studies. Subsequently he completed his TESOL certificate at Woodsworth Collage and worked for various private English language schools. Teaching English language learners provided Paul with the opportunity to meet people from all over the world, as well as use innovative digital textbooks to deliver lessons.
Paul received his Master of Teaching degree from OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education). There he conducted a small-scale research study on Self-Regulated Learning (SRL). He synthesized some of the literature on SRL and published them in The MT Review under the title, Self-Regulated Learning: The Role of Motivation and Emotions on Student Learning. Paul’s interest in education stems from his fascination with the human mind, how students learn, and under which conditions students learn best.
Currently Paul works for D2L (Desire to Learn) a global software company that created the learning management system, Brightspace. At D2L he works on creating innovative online courses for students all over the world.
When he’s not at work, Paul likes to spend his time writing creatively, and expanding his world view by reading literature, philosophy, and theoretical physics. He also enjoys outdoor activities including running, hiking, cycling, and cannoning.

Preeti is a graduate student, nearly completing her Master’s of Science degree at York University. She has had extensive experience working as a Teaching Assistant, teaching undergraduate students in biology courses. For example, she taught laboratory skills and theory, and has also guest-lectured in Microbiology. During her time as a Teaching Assistant, she held office hours. During this time, she worked one-on-one or in a small group with her students to assist them on course material and assignments. She has also volunteered as a mentor with children ages 9-12 with Future Possibilities. At this program, she mentored children on completing a goal to help their community.

Preeti’s teaching philosophy is simple: she believes that there is no singular method to optimally teaching a student. Each person learns in their own way–as a result, she makes it her personal goal to tailor her methods to each specific student. Priyanka is a Senior Analyst at the Canadian Institute for Health Information, and a recent graduate of the Masters of Health Informatics program from the University of Toronto. She grew up in Toronto and Mississauga and completed her undergraduate degree in neuroscience and psychology from the University of Toronto. Priyanka has a deep love for travel and the arts. She had the opportunity to explore several beautiful countries where she presented her work in infectious disease and tropical medicine. She was a Teacher’s Assistant for Organic Chemistry and Biology; it was through these experiences she fostered her love for Science. She is also a trained dancer and continues to learn as well as teach beginners. In the past, Priyanka worked one-on-one with children ranging from middle school to high school. Pulkit holds a Bachelor of Science specializing in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver (UBC). Rachel is a PhD chemist. She has lived in Ontario her entire life and done all of her schooling here as well. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Biotechnology at Wilfrid Laurier University and her graduate degrees in Analytical Chemistry (MSc) and Polymer Chemistry (PhD) at the University of Toronto. Rachel loves science and math and doing puzzles. Her favourite part of teaching is when students have an ‘Aha’ moment and whatever they have been working on clicks into place! Rishi is a graduate of the University of Alberta with a bachelors in computing science, and a minor in Math, as well as a certificate in advanced game programming from Sheridan College. Born in India, and immigrating to Canada when he was 3 years old, Rishi has lived in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Oakville, and, most recently, Toronto. Growing up all over Canada and frequently visiting his home country helped to developed in him a deep love for travel and making connections with people from all over the world. During these visits to India, he would spend much time with his extended family, specifically his younger siblings. Helping with his siblings school work fostered in him an immense passion for teaching. While completing his bachelors, Rishi chose to spend his spare time volunteering for organizations on campus that focused on education. Through these organizations he has visited elementary schools as a guest science teacher, helped with high school exam and university prep for newcomers to Canada, and helped university students with first year math courses. In addition to his volunteer experience, Rishi has also worked as a math, science, and English tutor for Sylvan Learning and Oxford Learning. As a tutor, Rishi is very capable of teaching a wide array of subjects, but loves nothing more than teaching math & English. His goal with his students is to breakdown the stereotype of math and English not being fun. For him, seeing the moment when a concept finally clicks in a students mind and they start enjoying what they are learning is incredibly rewarding.

Ruby realized her passion for sharing knowledge with others at a very young age. Throughout elementary school Ruby would often volunteer to help children younger than her improve their reading and writing skills. Ruby then went on to obtain her Bachelors in Psychology from Brock University. There Ruby would occasionally work with underclassmen and peers and tutor them in certain psychology concepts. Ruby has always been interested in and extremely passionate about psychology.

Due to this. Ruby went on to work with the Canadian Mental Health Association as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Coach. In this role Ruby would work with adolescents, adults and seniors, she would teach them how to use it to boost their mood, face their fears, and overcome things that cause them anxiety. Ruby’s objective has always been to ensure those she works with are confident enough to be able to carry on what Ruby taught them in the form of long-term healthy habits, regardless of if Ruby is there guiding them.

In order to broaden her knowledge of psychology and work with people at a deeper level, Ruby is currently pursuing a Masters in Clinical Psychology at Adler Graduate Professional School. Ruby is currently working as a student psychotherapist and as a student psychometrist in two different private practices. Ruby hopes to graduate later this year and continue working with a wide variety of populations to support them mentally, but to also teach them habits and coping mechanisms that contribute to their wellbeing. In her free time, Ruby enjoys catching up on the latest Netflix Original, reading, cooking and sharing laughs with her family and friends.

Rumana graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology. She has earned a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University in the Intermediate/Senior division, qualified to teach Biology and Chemistry. In addition, she is certified by the Ontario College of Teachers. She has previous work experience as a private one-on-one tutor as well as working in group settings at tutoring centers. Rumana enjoys creating an environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions. She is able to tutor Grade 9-10 Science, Grade 11 Chemistry and Biology, and Grade 9-12 Mathematics. Rupak Haque is an Ontario Certified Teacher. He grew up in USA, moving to Windsor to complete a Degree in Education from the University of Windsor. Prior to which, he completed a BSc in Applied Physics from Pennsylvania and an MBA from Alabama . Rupak developed a deep love of travel and took the opportunity to explore the world following the completion of his degree having visited most of the countries in Europe, Middle East, South Asia and North America. It was during his stay in South Asia that Rupak discovered his passion for teaching and working with children. Having decided to pursue teaching as a career Rupak moved to Canada. It is through teaching that Rupak has been able to foster his love of Physics and Math. In his spare time Rupak works one-on-one tutoring with high school students of Math and Physics. Ruta L. is an Ontario Certified Teacher who grew up in Toronto and attended Essex Public School, Harbord Collegiate and Metropolitan Toronto University. After living in Portugal and France, she received her Bachelor of Education Degree at the University of Toronto in 1990 and then worked as a Primary/Junior teacher for over 25 years at the Toronto District School Board. Ruta enjoyed teaching Reading, Writing and Mathematics, as well as Art, Music and Drama to children from Kindergarten to grade six. She also provided instruction as a Core French and Special Education teacher for many years. Ruta’s passion for singing and music enabled her to lead various children’s choirs while teaching at various schools in Toronto, and she continues to be a member of several community choirs. In her spare time, Ruta plays squash and coordinates a house league for beginner squash players at the West End YMCA. As a tutor, she endeavours to draw from her teaching experiences in order to build strong relationships with her students and she is determined to meet their needs and grow their learning. Ruta lives in Toronto with her husband and two adult daughters.

Sabrina is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She grew up in North Bay, Ontario and moved to Toronto to complete her Undergraduate Degree in History at York University. She decided to pursue teaching as a career after taking a course in Athens, Greece where she met some local English teachers. She knew she could make a difference anywhere in the world. Sabrina completed a Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University. Growing up in Northern Ontario, Sabrina loves the outdoors and being in nature. Sabrina enjoys merging Environmental Education with the Ontario curriculums whenever possible because she believes fresh air and staying active contribute to successful learning. Over the last few years, she has developed a love for travel and has gained experience teaching and working with children in the United States and Spain. Every trip Sabrina takes is part of her ongoing learning journey that transfers into her teaching. Sabrina’s passion for History and her curiosity for Math carries through into her teaching as well. Sam has been an educator for over 10 years with public, private and international experience. Sam completed the concurrent education program at York University in 2014, where he taught and tutored middle and high school students for two years. Upon graduation, Sam moved to England for two years where he taught in the public school system. After returning to Canada in 2016, Sam began working in the international private school system. He currently works at Willowdale High School, where he has been since 2018. Initially the lead English teacher, Sam has now taken on larger responsibilities in an administrative role within the school. Although his specialty is Intermediate an Senior English, Sam has experience teaching history, geography and social sciences. Sam currently develops courses in his administrative role, most recently developing courses for Canadian Geography and Nutrition & Health.
In his spare time, Sam enjoys reading, films, martial arts (he is an avid practitioner of eskrima), plays ball hockey and is also a long-distance runner.

Samantha is an Ontario-certified teacher with qualifications in both primary and junior. She graduated with her Master of Teaching from the Ontario Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Ryerson University. She is a full-time teacher with the YRDSB, teaching a primary Special Education classroom. Samantha has five years of teaching experience and has worked with children in different capacities, such as camp counsellor and basketball coach. In addition, she has completed her Part 1, Part 2 and Specialist qualifications in Special Education. Samantha dreamed of being a teacher ever since she was a child and has a passion for differentiating her lessons to meet the needs of each student. She believes that each child is unique, and with the attentiveness of a caring educator, every student can reach the highest level of success. Samantha focuses on students’ strengths and interests to make learning meaningful and engaging. She has experience accommodating and modifying student needs daily and writing Individual Education Plans tailored to students’ strengths. Samantha graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Literature and Psychology, and a Bachelor of Education the following year. She discovered a love of working with children during her time as a camp counsellor at Camp Kadimah out in beautiful Nova Scotia, where she balanced planning engaging programs and forming meaningful relationships with campers of all ages, eventually winning the Peter Stone Award for Best Camp Counsellor. Following her stint out east, a longing to travel abroad sent her to rural Italy to teach English to Italian students at an Italian summer camp. The learnings from this experience teaching English as a Second Language found their way into a variety of her other roles, including tutoring, tour guiding, and leading the ESL Summer Program at Upper Canada College. Aside from teaching, Samantha worked as an editor on Queen’s student newspaper, the Queen’s Journal, earning herself a writing award from Amnesty International. Samantha builds a foundation of trust, reciprocity, and pleasure into her teaching, focusing on intrinsic rewards and student-specific interests and personalities. When she’s not teaching, Samantha finds great enjoyment in reading nonfiction, practising yoga, and spending time with family and friends.

Samantha began her love of teaching at 17 years old when she became a volunteer assistant in a primary classroom. After high school, she attended the University of Toronto where she studied philosophy, history, and sociology. After completing her undergraduate, she took a big leap and moved to South Korea where she became a full-time kindergarten teacher. Although she did not make it as a K-pop star in South Korea, she did come to realize that teaching is one of her biggest passions. After her year abroad she came back to Canada and decided to become an ELL teacher at a school downtown, teaching adult students coming to Canada to learn English. During this time, she also became a private tutor working with students ages 7-11 who attended schools in the TDSB. She worked with students who had different exceptionalities and it was through this job that she realized that teaching is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach. After two years, she decided to take another big leap and complete her Master of Teaching at OISE, University of Toronto. Samantha is delighted to officially be an Ontario Certified Teacher. In her lessons, Samantha takes the time to get to know every individual student in order to create individualized plans that tap into the interests, passions, and needs of the learner. She loves to incorporate educational games, technology, art, and movement into her lessons in order to make the lessons more enjoyable, less rigid, and tap into multiple ways of learning. On her days off you can find Samantha watercolour painting, getting lost around the city, trying not to overwater her plants, and starting a new book before finishing the last one.

Sammy is a good standing certified member of the Ontario College of Teacher. He graduated Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Teacher Education at Don Mariano Marcos State University, The Philippines. He completed Additional Qualifications in Visual Art at York University and Special Ed and Social Science at Queen’s University.

In the early years of teaching, he organized a scrabble club and visual art club. His team won more than 10 gold and 5 silver medals in the inter-school competitions in poster-making-contest, including essay-writing-contest and mural painting and scrabble.

Sammy is a member the non-profit Philippine Teachers Association of Canada. He had served the community in the recruitment, and coordination in several events.

With his over 9 years of teaching with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic DSB as LTO, Sammy has a broad experience in the classroom management and teaching students from all walks of life. One of his most enjoyable experiences is helping his students sharpen their writing skills and write really great sentences, paragraphs, and essays. Sammy also have great knowledge in the Social Studies and Environmental Science. He had seen a lot of talents and promises in the next generation.
Outside the classroom, Sammy plays baseball, basketball and badminton. At his free time, he enjoys painting and drawing. Every single weekends, he loves to travel in the country sides. He had gone to Hong Kong, Hawaii, Taipie, Thai Land and Singapore.

At home, he is great in cooking Italian, Chinese Korean, Japanese and Filipino foods.

Sam is currently pursuing a PhD in Mathematics from York University, following a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Master of Arts in Mathematics at the same institution. He is a tutor with over eight years of experience teaching quantitative subjects at the middle school, high school and university levels. He works as a teaching assistant in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, where he gives support to small groups of students in early undergraduate mathematics and grades tests and assignments. Between analyzing data about Mersenne number factors in a distributed computing project and staying active, Sam sets aside time to learn new mathematics on a regular basis. He hopes to communicate not just his techniques, but his passion for and philosophical approach to mathematics to every one of his students.

Sam graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in 2014. While he was there, he majored in both Dramatic Arts and Geography, and later moved on to complete his Bachelor of Education at OISE in May of 2015. He is an Ontario Certified Teacher, qualifying him to teach all subjects at an intermediate level. He has experience teaching English, History, Science, Religion, Special Education, Business Marketing, Geography, and Civics/Careers. Sam has experience working as an Academic Coach, helping students to fine tune how to better stay organized, improving test taking strategies and their personal at home study skills.

In the beginning of 2020, Sam set out to complete his Junior Basic Qualification, certifying him to teach Grades 4-10, while further developing his knowledge of students learning in Special Education by completing the second of three qualifying degrees in that field of expertise.

Sam has been teaching Dance, Drama, Geography and Special Education at a public secondary school in Toronto. When he isn’t teaching, Sam can be found singing along at a concert, exercising with friends, or planning his next travel destination.

Sarah M. is an Ontario Certified Teacher who cares deeply about helping students grow in every way. Growing up in Niagara Falls with her two sisters taught her how to negotiate and solve problems, skills she now brings to her classroom. She moved to Kingston to study Life Sciences at Queen’s University. After graduating, Sarah traveled the world and volunteered in Tanzania, where she helped at a clinic and a primary school. These experiences opened her eyes to the global impact of education and the importance of community. Inspired by her time in Tanzania, Sarah now uses teaching strategies that reflect different cultures and encourage students to connect science with real-world issues. After her travels, she earned a Master of Science in Education in Toronto, focusing on Biology and Chemistry, which helped her become even better at making science accessible to everyone. Sarah has worked with children as a tutor, a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and through classroom placements, helping students succeed in reading, writing, math, and science. She believes that strong relationships are key to learning and always aims to create a welcoming and engaging classroom.

Sasha is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with a diverse range of teaching experience across various grade levels. Currently working at the Junior division of an independent IB school in Toronto, she is passionate about creating engaging and inquiry-based lessons that inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and communication. With a Bachelor in Educational Psychology and a Master in Teaching in Elementary Education, Sasha has the skills to design at hands-on and engaging lessons that cater to the individual needs of her students.

Her teaching experience spans a variety of settings, including Reggio Emilia schools and international programs, allowing her to bring a well-rounded and diverse approach to her work. She believes in the importance of creating lessons that cater to needs, interests, and strengths of each individual student to provide them the environment to thrive.

Outside of the classroom, Hayley is passionate about field hockey and baking. She is also a proud pet owner of her spunky orange cat named Frankie! With a commitment to continuous professional growth, Sasha is dedicated to supporting students in their educational journey, helping them develop both academic skills and a love of learning.

Serena is a Teacher Candidate attending OISE in Toronto. Upon graduation, she will become an Ontario Certified Teacher. She completed her undergraduate studies in Hong Kong, England, and elsewhere, taking a wide range of courses, including humanities, mathematics, and computer science. She finds mathematics simple, straightforward, and clear. She has tutored many students to help them progress in their math and English courses, and it was through this experience she found her love for teaching and connecting with them on a deeper level. Serena has spent many years helping students to improve their academic, leadership, and problem-solving skills. She believes education means opportunity and is eager to help them on this journey.

When she is not busy with work and school, she enjoys traveling and cooking because they are full of certainty and uncertainty.

Shabana is an accomplished educator with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and holds Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) status in good standing. Her qualifications span the Primary/Junior and Intermediate divisions.
Shabana brings over 13 years of classroom experience teaching at the elementary, junior and high school level in Ontario. In addition to her extensive time in the classroom, she served for two years as a Director of Academics, where she focused on curriculum development and instructional excellence. Shabana is deeply passionate about fostering environments where every student can achieve their full potential and experience meaningful academic success.

Shabnam is a theoretical physicist with a PhD from Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, Italy. She has worked as a researcher in different universities and countries. Before moving to Toronto, she lived in Singapore for more than six years and worked as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Quantum Technologies. She has taught undergrad students at universities such as Bilkent University, National University of Singapore and Yale-NUS college. In early 2019 she transitioned from academia to entrepreneurship. Currently she is a Co-Founder and Director of a start-up in Toronto.

In addition to her teaching experience at university level, she was a Math and Physics tutor right after finishing her high school until she became a PhD student. She has her way of simplifying scientific subjects for students to help them learn gradually and develop their logical thinking and problem solving abilities. Even in her entrepreneurial role she enjoys working with the interns a lot.

Shabnam has travelled to several countries and has friends from many different nationalities. Canada is the fifth country that she lives in. In her free time she enjoys cooking, exercising and dancing. When music plays she cannot stand still.

Shanon recently finished his concurrent education degree at Brock University, earning both his Bachelor of Arts with honours and Bachelor of Education. He is also a recent OCT-certified teacher aiming to work within the TDSB. Shanon speaks French fluently and has been in French immersion since senior kindergarten. Shanon has had experience teaching French from grades 3 to 12 and is more than happy to teach other subjects all the way up to grade 7. He is currently finishing his qualifications to teach elementary! Outside of the classroom, Shanon enjoys a myriad of hobbies. Whether it is video games, anime, drawing, baking, cooking, or working out, he can be caught working with his hands, brains, or both. One of Shanon’s biggest goals was writing in the third person, so this is huge for him. Shanon discovered his passion for teaching after watching how electric his mother’s classrooms were, and he knew this was the path for him. Much like his mom, he aims to foster an environment where everyone feels they belong and can learn as efficiently as possible. He aims to cultivate a fun, safe, engaging, and enriching space within his classroom. He found success with this during his teaching practicums and hopes to bring that into his own classroom someday soon.

Shelby is an Ontario Certified Teacher who grew up in Toronto, and completed her degree in Biology at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo. After graduation she headed to North Bay to obtain her Bachelor of Education at Nipissing University. Shelby is currently working towards gaining new skills and certifications within the teaching community. In this she believes that learning never stops and should be a lifetime activity. She feels that learning processes of students differ and that no two people learn the same way. Through volunteer work with people with disabilities she was inspired in her understanding that everyone can work to succeed and that success is measured individually. She primarily teaches general science up to grade 10, grade 11 and 12 biology as well as geography from grades 4-12. She is also certified to teach math from grades 4-9. Shelby grew up with a deep love of art and nature which inspired her to study biology as her post secondary degree. While working as an art counselor and swim instructor she found a passion for teaching that inspired her to pursue this as a career. She discovered that helping her students reach their goals and overcome challenges was a reward unto itself. It is through teaching that Shelby has been able to foster her love of science and make connections between many of the different subjects. In her spare time Shelby enjoys crafting, reading and baking.

Shivani currently works full time as a grade 6 French immersion teacher with the Peel District School Board. She received her Masters of teaching from OISE and is a qualified teacher registered with OCT. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto where she majored in French Language Learning and minored in Sociology and Theatre. Shivani has experience working with students of different ages in classroom situations and one-on-one. She has also had the opportunity to work as an English Language Assistant in France where she taught intermediate grade level students in a variety of teaching settings. Shivani is currently a Childhood Educator at the University of Toronto where she plans and implements lessons and extracurricular activities for children between the ages of 5 to 15. Outside of teaching, Shivani enjoys travelling, reading, dancing and baking.

Simon has a Masters Degree in Education focused on Curriculum and ESL from Mount Saint Vincent University in Nova Scotia. After volunteering as an ESL and ECE teacher, Simon gained a passion for supporting families new to Canada – particularly as they transition between different international school systems.

Simon focuses on grammar as the foundation of reading and writing. By zooming-in on sentences and zooming-out to see the connected meanings needed to complete complex assignments, Simon helps students improve basic grammar, plan clear writing, and understand exam questions under pressure.

With extensive experience working in international and ecological education in rural and urban areas, as well as with students who have a first language other than English, Simon also researches best practices in language education methods to support all types of learners.

Simon grew up in Brockville, Ontario, and attended MSVU and Saint Mary’s University in Halifax Nova Scotia. He has 12 years experience as an educator and holds TESL Canada Level 3 and CELTA teaching certificates. In his free time, he likes to cycle, snowboard, and read.

Sita is an IB-trained teacher with a Bachelor and Masters in Education. She has 9 years of experience in various curricula including International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, Ontario, IGCSE and CBSE.

On the side, Sita enjoys travelling, reading and spending time with her 8-year-old daughter. Her pleasing and patient personality makes her approachable among students. Besides being a full-time teacher, she also conducts one-on-one enrichment lessons for students. Her inquiry-based and differentiated approach to teaching has helped students excel in Language, Mathematics and Science.

Sohum graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Sohum has a Post-Graduate Certificate specializing in autism and behavioral science from Seneca College. Her studies covered Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), intervention methods including Intensive Behavioural Analysis (IBI), Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Verbal Behaviour Therapy (VBT) theory working with families and treatment teams. Sohum is currently a Junior/Intermediate teacher candidate in the Masters of Teaching program at the University of Toronto. Her educational experiences have given her the confidence and perseverance required in this progressive field of education. Her goal as a teacher is to create meaningful relationships with her students which promote inclusiveness, diversity, responsibility and cooperation. Sohum has three years of teaching experience working in an educational assistant at Milliken Mills High School and in her practicums in the Toronto District School Board where she fosters engaging and interactive lessons. In her spare time Sohum enjoys hiking, swimming, badminton, playing board games and as well spending time with her friends and family.

Hi! My name is Sophie and I am currently in the first year of the BEd at York. I have over five years of experience in personalized, high-quality tutoring. My primary focus is on math, and I am very passionate about helping students develop their mathematical intuition, thinking, proficiency, and (importantly!) confidence. I also tutor other subjects, especially writing-based courses, and I find it very meaningful to work with students on the crucial skills of on argumentation, articulation, and research. In my free time I love to paint for relaxation and creativity, even though I have never had any formal training/great skill. I mention this because I feel strongly that everyone should feel comfortable and confident to pursue their interests even if they don’t feel like they have the “natural skill”, and I bring that philosophy to my teaching.

Spyros has been teaching at the high school and university level since September of 2020. He earned his undergraduate degree in Computational Mathematics from York University and a Master’s in Applied Mathematics. His primary research focus was on mathematical modeling in nanotechnology. His educational experience includes holding tutorials and math labs as a tutorial instructor, supporting students in first and second-year university courses, as well as those needing to fill gaps in their high school math knowledge. He uses real-world examples to make abstract mathematical concepts more understandable. Outside of teaching, he enjoys cycling and reading. His teaching philosophy emphasizes interactive dialogue to help students develop confidence and a strong grasp of the material.

Stephanie is an Ontario Certified Teacher qualified to teach Junior and Intermediate grades. Stephanie has a Kinesiology degree from Western University and a Physical Education Specialist Bachelor of Education degree from The University of Maine. She has worked in the TDSB for 25 years, with a focus on middle school learners, and as a school-based math coach. Stephanie has successfully taught all subjects in grades 6,7, and 8. She has held roles as STEM instructor, EQAO math marker, and held various positions of responsibility (grade team leader) within her school. Stephanie is currently the head of Physical Education in a TDSB middle school.
Stephanie lives in the GTA area with her husband and teenage daughter. Outside of teaching, Stephanie enjoys coaching and playing various sports, dancing, and socializing with friends.

Stephanie graduated from the University of Toronto, where she received her (Honours) Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Psychology and completed her Bachelor of Education with York University. Stephanie is an Ontario Certified Teacher, who is qualified to teach all divisions (Primary/Junior/Intermediate and Senior). She has taken Additional Qualification courses in Special Education, English, Social Sciences, and Physical Education, to strengthen her skill set. Stephanie has many years of experience tutoring, both in group settings and one on one. Her experience in the classroom includes students ranging from kindergarten to high school, including a year of teaching Core French. In addition, Stephanie has a background in teaching students with various exceptionalities such as autism, dyslexia, and ADHD. From her time working at Holland Bloorview she has gathered a variety of strategies and resources to help with meeting the learning needs of many diverse learners. Stephanie is also creative with a high interest in arts and sports which she uses to create a fun and interactive learning environment. She is an energetic teacher who aims to make learning engaging and meaningful to all her students.

Stephanie is a Teacher Candidate at the University of Toronto. Originally from China, she moved to Canada to complete her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science at the University of Toronto. After graduation, she worked as a nutrition consultant. Following the birth of her daughter, Stephanie spent a lot of time at the Early Years Center and volunteered at schools. She has been tutoring math for primary, junior and intermediate grade students, enjoying the opportunity to help each student discover their own strengths and talents. During the pandemic, while homeschooling her daughter in sixth grade, Stephanie decided to pursue a career in teaching. Most recently, she completed her teaching practicum at JICS Lab School and Bedford Park Public School. Stephanie believes in a student-centered approach to teaching, where each child’s unique abilities and interests are nurtured. In her spare time, Stephanie really enjoys cooking, listening to classical music and taking nature walks.

Suman Rana is an Ontario Certified Teacher who strongly believes in these words. She grew up in Delhi, India, and graduated from University of Delhi with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature in 2004. She then completed a Post Graduate Diploma in English literature in 2006 followed by Master of Philosophy in English Literature in 2008. When she decided to pursue teaching as a career Suman completed a Bachelor of Education at the Jamila Millia Islamia University. She started her teaching career in 2006 with elementary students. In 2012, she began to teach English literature to undergraduate students at University of Delhi. She was also a Fulbright FLTA at New York University form 2017-18 where she taught her native language to beginner and intermediate students of various cultural backgrounds in the different contexts- whole class, individual tutoring and online work. Since 2019, she has been teaching high school students English and Business Leadership in Toronto, Canada. She has been an active participant in various seminars and workshops over the years to polish her teaching skills like the OPI Tester Training Workshop in New York University organized by American Council on Teaching of Foreign Language and various STAR TALK workshops. 

Suman believes every child is unique and deserves a caring, inspiring, and engaging atmosphere in which to grow emotionally, intellectually, and socially. As an educator she wants to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing a safe, risk-taking, and collaborative environment. She wants her students to development positive character and leadership traits which are essential in becoming a productive citizen. She chooses content and activities that are both significant and challenging for the students so that they are stimulated to think “beyond” their comfort zone and feel involved in their own learning process. Collaborative learning is also central to her teaching philosophy in order to promote reflective thinking and improve the students’ communicative and trans-cultural skills.

Susan is an Ontario certified math and physics teacher. She had been an electrical engineer, a statistical consultant and a business analyst before pursuing her master of teaching degree at OISE. She has taught grade 7-grade 12 academic math and grades 11 and 12 physics. She also has intensive experience with AP and IB courses.

Susan is sincerely dedicated to students’ success and believes everyone can succeed. She is attentive to students’ needs and learning style and always plans her lessons accordingly. She makes every effort to inspire students and prepare them for their next stage of life.

Born and raised in Toronto’s West End, Syrena is a Registered Early Childhood Educator and Ontario Certified Teacher who is committed to making learning engaging and enjoyable for the students in her care.
Attending University of Toronto and George Brown College allowed her to stay close to family and friends while pursuing her educational aspirations.
Syrena completed her Bachelor’s degree in English and Political Science before receiving her Diploma in Early Childhood Education from George Brown College and her Master’s in Teaching from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE, U of T). Throughout her educational pursuits, Syrena gained experience working in the nonprofit sector, within organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA. Her work within these two organizations combined spans over a decade.

Syrena’s warm and welcoming demeanor has been recognized by many as part of her charm in meeting new people and most specifically, building caring and comforting relationships with children. In fact, her initial opportunity to work with Boys and Girls Club was recommended to her by the Program Coordinator who recognized that she would be a natural working with children in the after school and summer camp program. In reflecting on her own early childhood experiences, Syrena attributes her training in Taekwondo to her confidence in providing clear instruction and her patience in supporting students who require extra time to achieve their learning goals.

Since Syrena was a student in the gifted program, she is passionate about working with students with exceptionalities and additional needs. She has completed the Special Education Part 1 Additional Qualification and is planning to obtain her Special Education Specialist Qualifications in 2025. She is currently completing the Reading Part 1 AQ.
In addition to having her black belt in Taekwondo and being a certified yoga instructor, Syrena has completed 4 half marathons. Needless to say she is quick on her feet and flexible!

Tanya has worked in and around education for nearly 15 years, teaching workshops within the classroom as well as after school programs for students of all ages. Her specialties lie in the sciences, mathematics, arts, history and social studies. Carrying a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, she strives to inspire deep thinking within her students and encourage them to draw connections between their learning and real world problems.

At this stage in her career, Tanya is working towards obtaining her Masters of Education in Curriculum & Pedagogy at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). She hopes to one day make change within the education system in a way that incorporates more student inquiry and play-based learning. In her teaching, she is able to create such learning opportunities by building relationships with her students and leveraging their interests in their practice.

Outside of teaching, Tanya is also the founder of Mystical Games Academy – a company dedicated to teaching life skills to youth through tabletop roleplaying games (ie. Dungeons & Dragons). In doing so, she creates imaginative worlds and scenarios that challenge her players to problem solve in a fun and collaborative way. They are building lifelong skills through immersive storytelling and gameplay!

Taylor is a Special Education teacher with the Toronto District School Board. She graduated with a Master of Teaching from OISE in 2021, and has obtained qualifications in teaching students with communication needs, specifically Autism Spectrum Disorder and Learning Disabilities. Taylor has taken courses in Structured Literacy from the International Dyslexia Organization, and is trained in the Wilson Reading System. In addition, Taylor is a Registered Behavior Technician with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, and has taken extensive training with the Geneva Centre in Applied Behavior Analysis, Functional Behavior Assessment, and utilizing evidence-based strategies for teaching students on the Autism spectrum. Taylor utilizes a data-driven and strengths-based approach to creating learning plans to ensure students are making progress and meeting curriculum goals.

In her spare time, Taylor enjoys spending time with her son, as well as boxing, cycling, and hiking.

Originally from Vancouver, Tessa came to Toronto to pursue studies in physics and mathematics at the University of Toronto. Now in the second last year of her degree, she is passionate about sharing the joys of scientific learning with students of all ages. With 5 years of private tutoring experience in her pocket, Tessa is dedicated to providing her students with high quality support through the use of personalized learning plans, stimulating regimens, and focus on strong foundations. Tessa has tutored high school students in mathematics, physics, English, and French, covering mathematics and physics into the university level. When she is not pouring over her physics homework, Tessa can be found going for long walks with her golden retriever and contemplating the philosophical implications of quantum field theory. Having worked as a lead instructor at PACE Summer Camps and a cycling teacher at Pedalheads in Vancouver, BC, Tessa has ample experience working with children aged 8-17 and hopes to inspire each student to unlock their potential and achieve success. Thomas attended University of Toronto (Woodsworth College) where he majored in economics and double minored in mathematics and philosophy. Thomas then graduated from Western University with a master’s degree in financial economics. Through the past five years, Thomas has tutored students from various academic backgrounds in mathematics and economics. Thomas enjoys seeing his students achieve her goals and believes that proper planning is the key to success.

I graduated from Brock University in 2011 with an undergraduate degree in Psychology, after many years working with children as young as 3 months up to 14 years old, I returned to school for my Bachelor of Education at Brock university for my primary/junior certification. After graduating, I spent 2 years teaching internationally in London, England. Some of my previous experiences include working as a swim instructor for the City of Toronto, volunteering in both TCDSB and TDSB across many grades, working as an Educational Assistant for a TCDSB summer school program for students with special needs, and volunteering at a specialized preschool program for children with multiple exceptionalities and difficulties. While in school and having returned to Canada, I worked in Early childhood programs to support the development of children through learning and play. When I am not teaching and tutoring, I enjoy travelling, playing hockey/volleyball and spending time with my friends and family.

I am an Occasional Teacher with the TDSB and have furthered my professional development by completing Additional Qualifications in Special Education Part 1 and Primary/Junior Math Part 1. I am passionate about helping students meet their goals, I provide academic support and encouragement to make them feel capable and confident in their ability to succeed.

Vatsal is a Data Scientist by profession and a passionate teacher and learner. He is currently working as a Data and Diagnostics Engineer at an engineering company based in Mississauga. One of his great achievements have been to be a part of the engineering team that was behind launching world’s first ever hydrogen power train for commercial service in Germany. Recently they set a Guinness world record for longest distance travelled by a hydrogen powered train without refuelling. In the past is worked as a Data Scientist at TD Bank where he was responsible for building analytics capabilities for capital markets. Vatsal is a gold medalist in Mechanical Engineering and completed his master’s in Industrial Engineering from University of Toronto in 2019. As a master’s student he has been a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate level courses in mathematics and statistics. Being passionate about teaching he was also engaged in tutoring high school kids, from Ontario grade 7th through 12th, and has volunteered for NGOs focused on educating underprivileged kids. Vatsal believes in holistic and character-building education which enables students to connect theory with the real world around them, and follows a pedagogy that helps students connect the dots. Apart from teaching, Vatsal loves to hike and is ambitious about learning to fly a fixed-wing glider. He is also trying to lead a car-free life to do his part at curbing pollution and help our environment heal itself.

Vivian embarked on a new journey of teachers college at the University of Toronto in fall of 2018. Before this, she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, also at UofT, while taking a plethora of courses in other disciplines including math, physics, and biology. She has years of teaching and guidance practice from her non-profit backcountry camping trips where she leads groups of 4-8 members on multi-day trips in the wilderness of southern Ontario. In addition to outdoor adventure recreation, Vivian’s other passion is conducting deep dives on physical phenomena by explaining them using science and math. This is how she learns and remembers knowledge. Hence, this is how she teaches. Is it her endeavour to contextualize as much of the curriculum to real life applications. Her hobbies include long distance bike touring, triathlons, and hosting dumpling making parties.

Yasmin is a Primary Junior Ontario Certified Teacher and is currently working as a supply teacher for the TDSB. She was born and raised in the United Arab Emirates and studied in an International Baccalaureate (IB) school before moving to Toronto to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Philosophy at the University of Toronto. Through teaching, Yasmin hopes to share her love for the arts whether it is through reading, writing, or performing. In her spare time, you will be sure to find Yasmin coming out of her favorite spin class, debating another workout, and definitely thinking about her next meal. If it wasn’t for her love of teaching, Yasmin would be running her own coffee shop with a few furry friends in close proximity.

Yuri is a teacher candidate in the Master of Arts Child Study and Education program at the University of Toronto, with an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University. She has extensive experience working with young learners as a registered early childhood educator, primarily working with preschool and kindergarten age groups. During her practicums, she gained valuable experience in both TDSB schools and the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study, where she worked with diverse groups of students in the primary and junior grades and supported various classroom activities, including UFLI instruction and the development of Individual Education Plan (IEP). Her educational philosophy is rooted in the belief that every child is unique, curious, and capable, and she strives to create inclusive and accessible learning environments that build on each child’s strengths. Outside of teaching, Yuri enjoys embroidering and spending time with her two dogs, Bello, a chihuahua, and Bella, a golden retriever.
