We are proud to be local – supporting the families of Whistler and Squamish. At Prep Academy Tutors, we focus on more than just improving grades—we build confidence and a love for learning. We provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring that meets students where they are—academically, emotionally, and socially. We offer tutoring for all subjects areas and students K- grade 12.

Keltie brings over 20 years of experience in education, holding a Bachelor of Education from Acadia University and a Montessori Lower Elementary Certificate. She understands firsthand the power of personalized learning to build confidence and help students succeed in their own unique ways.
Since joining Prep Academy Tutors in 2020, Keltie has embraced the deep connections that one-on-one tutoring creates. Now, she and her team of passionate tutors offer families exceptional, tailored tutoring in the communities of Whistler, Squamish, and Pemberton.

About
Adrian received a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from the University of Sydney in NSW Australia in 2011 and spent over a decade working as a post-doctoral researcher on wheat and canola improvement at Canadian university and federal labs; besides, at an Australian university. Adrian has always had a keen interest in teaching and helping young students excel at school. Aside from his research, he participated in occasional voluntary and informal teaching, training and mentoring of secondary, summer, and pre-grad students. Adrian firmly believes that every student is capable of exceeding their academic potential, given the right guidance and mentorship. His expertise lies in cereal molecular pathology, quantitative genetics, genomics and functional bioinformatics. He is also a wannabe outdoor enthusiast, passionate about playing soccer, chess and trading options.

About
Alina is originally from Germany, where she taught German, Geography, Art, and Biology to students in grades 4–10 for eleven years. During her university studies, she completed several internships in different schools and also worked on a pediatric oncology ward, supporting children and teenagers as they prepared to return to school.
Alina recently moved to Canada with her husband and their two dogs and now teaches in the Sea to Sky School District. She brings patience, empathy, and strong organizational skills to her teaching, while providing thoughtful, individualized support to each student. Alina believes that learning takes perseverance and encourages her students with her motto: “Everything is difficult before it becomes easy.”
In her free time, Alina enjoys exploring the beautiful nature around Squamish with her dogs, crocheting, reading, and occasionally baking and cooking traditional German dishes.

Binita is a dedicated educator with 13 years of experience specializing in high school physics and mathematics. Armed with a Master’s degree in Physics and a Bachelor’s in Education, she brings a wealth of knowledge to the classroom. Coming from a family of teachers, Binita always knew education was her calling. Throughout her career, she has taught over 1,000 students and published a research paper in physics, demonstrating her commitment to her field and continuous professional growth.
Binita’s teaching philosophy centers on creating strong bonds with her students and bridging learning gaps to help each one excel. She believes in bringing real-world relevance to her lessons, making complex concepts accessible and engaging. In her spare time, Binita’s patience – a virtue honed through years of teaching – is put to the ultimate test by her energetic 4-year-old. About
Growing up in Cardiff, Wales, Chris was drawn to the outdoors despite the city’s amenities. As a child, he joined outdoor clubs, cubs, scouts, and played various sports; fostering a love for new activities, challenges, and meeting people. This passion led him to the Sea to Sky region, where a temporary visa turned into a lifelong adventure. For Chris, the satisfaction of overcoming a challenging target, problem, skill, or puzzle has always been worth the effort, work, and occasional pain and frustration
While in university, Chris worked at a summer camp in North Carolina, where he helped campers grow physically, socially, and emotionally, sparking his interest in academic teaching. In 2013, he earned a BA in education from the University of the West of England, Bristol. Through this course, he was incredibly fortunate to have extensive placements in a range of settings, with a range of grades. Chris has worked in both traditional and non-traditional settings; in schools with everything imaginable and schools with almost nothing; and taught from the very youngest learners up to adults in their golden years.
Chris blends educational theory with his active outdoor background to create engaging, multidisciplinary learning experiences, emphasizing hands-on learning and understanding rather than doing. He strives to find creative ways to show that learning is real rather than a lesson in a room. Chris loves finding opportunities to get outside and do something, rather than learn about something. He encourages movement, noise and active participation. Critically and fundamentally, Chris believes in teaching a person at their own individual level and to their own individual needs, encouraging everyone to take ownership of their learning and to support them in overcoming challenges to aid understanding and ability.

Cole’s desire to work in education led her to gain experience through tutoring students while still in high school. Upon graduating, she pursued a degree in mathematics and French, aiming to teach both subjects to elementary and high school students. Following the completion of an additional secondary math education degree at SFU, Cole secured her first teaching position at Alpha Secondary in Burnaby. There, she taught French as a second language, collaborating with experienced language instructors and acquiring valuable teaching strategies. In 2011, she relocated to Squamish with her partner and subsequently worked at several schools in Whistler and Squamish, including Howe Sound Secondary, Whistler Secondary, Spring Creek, and Squamish Elementary. At Howe Sound Secondary and both primary schools, she taught French immersion to grade ten and grade five/six students, respectively. At Whistler Secondary, she taught Math 10, calculus, and physics. Her most recent contract, spanning from 2024 to 2025, involved teaching grade five French immersion at Spring Creek.
Cole is passionate about making her French lessons engaging and diverse, incorporating real-world concepts and a variety of cultural music. She has also created itineraries for “traveling through” Francophone countries, while integrating both verb usage and new vocabulary into these lessons. Recently, Cole decided to transition to tutoring because she loves working one-on-one with students and it provides the flexibility to spend more time with her son and daughter. Cole views herself as both a teacher and a lifelong learner, constantly seeking methods to help students develop their love of learning.
In her spare time, Cole enjoys spending time with her children at Sp’akw’us Park, taking in the beauty of the magnificent Squamish backdrop. She can also be found swimming laps at Brennan Park centre or running around her backyard with her children and animals.

About
Darlene grew up in Beaconsfield, Quebec and completed a B.Sc in Engineering Chemistry at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Then she moved to Vancouver, BC where she did a PhD in Chemistry. A number of years later she finished a B.Ed at UBC, specializing in Chemistry and Junior Science, Secondary School Education.
As a BC Certified teacher Darlene has taught in public and private secondary schools, including York House in Vancouver and Henan Public School in Zhengzhou, China. She also taught Chemistry 11 and Math 11 at summer school for the Vancouver School Board. Most of her education work has been tutoring. She has tutored for the last 16 years. During the pandemic she started to tutor online using a specialized tutoring software program.
Outside of this life, Darlene has been a ski instructor for Whistler Blackcomb for over 25 years, teaching adults the fine art of skiing. She gets great enjoyment out of helping people achieve their goals; be it to pass a course, get high grades to go the university of their choice – or to slide down a ski slope on skis.

With over a decade of tutoring experience—beginning at just 15 years old—Debora has supported a wide range of learners, including elementary students, middle and high school students, and adult professionals across all proficiency levels. She is passionate about helping students build strong language foundations, whether they are just beginning their literacy journey or working toward advanced fluency.
Debora is an Italian L2 specialist from Florence, Italy, with a strong background in language learning and international education. She studied English, French, Spanish, and German throughout her academic journey, and further enriched her experience through cultural exchanges in Toulouse, Rouen, and Berlin.
After spending nearly three years in Canada, where she expanded her intercultural perspective, Debora returned to Italy to deepen her expertise. She earned her Master’s degree in Teaching Italian as a Second Language (L2) from the University of Bologna and now teaches independently, as well as through platforms such as Lingoda.
Debora is known for her structured, engaging, and highly personalized approach. She creates a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, building confidence, and developing their communication skills at their own pace. She particularly enjoys working with younger learners, supporting early literacy skills, language development, and confidence in reading, writing, and speaking.
Outside of teaching, Debora continues to explore her passion for languages and cross-cultural communication—bringing curiosity, energy, and a global perspective into every lesson.

Geneviève is a recent graduate in Biochemical Engineering from Queen’s University. Throughout her undergrad, she was a chemistry tutor teaching students one-on-one, in small groups, and in lecture halls of over 150 students for pre-exam workshops. She also worked as a Chemistry TA, teaching in-person and online tutorial sessions to classrooms of students to review the professor’s weekly lecture material with lessons, assignments, and quizzes she prepared. As an instructor for the University of Toronto’s Jr DEEP Program, she gained experience teaching elementary and middle school-aged students, having developed and taught a weeklong curriculum of biomedical engineering-related lessons to groups throughout the summer. Finally, she has ski instructed students aged 6 to 21 for the past eight winters with Snowhawks Ski & Snowboard School in Ontario. In her spare time, Geneviève is a rock climber, backcountry skier, dabbles in alpinism, and volunteers at the Squamish Foodbank.
Geneviève has always enjoyed the teaching process of breaking down tricky concepts in fun, easy to remember ways, and strives for that “aha” moment in a student’s eyes when you can tell they’ve developed an understanding for a new concept. Also, she is informed in teaching students with different learning styles and/or neurodivergence. After university, Hannah brought her creative genius to a museum in Muskoka, planning events for local school groups and young community members. Since then, Hannah has worked in numerous educational settings, with students ranging from kindergarten to high school. Hannah’s love for travel brought her all over Europe, South America, and Oceania, where she completed her teacher education in the heart of New Zealand and spent her free time exploring the islands in her camper van. James is a teacher who can teach in British Columbia, California and Ontario. He grew up in northern BC and completed post-secondary studies in Alberta and Ontario before going to California to start his career. He has taught students from Gr. 6 to post-secondary (mostly in the STEM subjects from Computer Studies to Calculus to Chemistry and Physics). Outdoor education was always in the mix from running an outdoor programme for a school board to teaching skiing and white-water kayaking. He was selected to create and review online Physics and Chemistry for both Ontario high schools and later within the Ontario College system; these experiences deepened his understanding of barriers to success in students who had already experienced frustration in math or science. Empowering students to move from discouragement to a growth mindset has been the fulfilling part of his career. A move to Squamish after 30 years of teaching has expanded outdoor adventures but he still longs to help students take on challenges and to also find some fun in the work.

Janet has been teaching for 22 years. Her most recent career choice has been teaching high school at Chief Gabriel Cote Education Complex on the Cote First Nation, SK.
Before that, in Vancouver, BC, she was a teacher trainer at Greystone College offering Cambridge University’s (UK) Teachers’ Knowledge Test (TKT) and Teaching Young Learners (TYL). In Japan she taught conversational English to children (pre-school, elementary, and junior high levels) and adults (conversational and in-house business classes) to a variety of Japanese companies in Fukui-Ken. In India, she taught ESL, English and PE at Kodaikanal International School. Janet is also a certified Outward Bound Canada Field Leader.
Janet is an award-winning author (Canada’s Legendary Ski Team – The Crazy Canucks, with a foreword by Peter Mansbridge). One of her books, Radar the Rescue Dog, celebrates Radar, Canada’s first certified avalanche rescue dog. The foreword is written by the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and monies go to the Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Assoc., CARDA. She is currently working on her seventh book. Her writing has appeared in the Pique Newsmagazine, Ski Canada and several other publications.
Janet is also a Goodwill Ambassador for Friends to Mankind, an international non-profit foundation that works with individuals, corporation and philanthropic organizations towards the betterment of humanity.

I am Kim and am a dedicated teacher and tutor specializing in English and French. I have decades of teaching experience in various districts across British Columbia and have a passion for helping students improve their reading, writing, comprehension, and communication skills in both English and French. I hold a Bachelor Degree in Education from the University of Victoria and a Masters in English Language Arts from San Diego State University. I also have a diploma in French Language and Literature from the University of Marseille, France. Lizzie is a UK Certified Teacher with a rich and varied background supporting students in their learning and development. After earning her BA (Honours) in History and Politics, she began her career as an Elementary School Assistant, working with small groups across core subject areas.
Her love of travel led her to unique experiences abroad, including working as a scuba dive instructor and spending time at a marine biology research camp in Madagascar. She later returned to her passion for education, earning her Cambridge certification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, followed by her UK teaching qualification.
Lizzie went on to teach as a High School Humanities Teacher in the UK, while also providing private tutoring focused on time management, study skills, and overall academic support. Since moving to British Columbia in 2019 with her Canadian husband, Lizzie has balanced family life, travel, and education—including homeschooling her son during a recent six-month trip through Asia. This summer, Rich and his labradoodle, Bernie, drove 6,800 kilometers from Maine in the US to BC. His family joined him in Squamish as he pursues a Master of Education in Social Studies Education from UBC. Before becoming a teacher, Rich worked as a trial lawyer arguing cases in criminal court. He traded closing arguments for something far more rewarding: the moment a student finally “gets it”.
With over 16 years of teaching experience in both private and public schools, Rich has helped thousands of young people of all abilities overcome obstacles and improve as students. Succeeding in school is neither simple nor easy. But being a “good student” requires skills and a change in mindset that can be learned. It starts with a deep breath and continues with a fresh approach to learning. That new approach could be as basic as creating a system for tracking assignments or as complex as learning new ways to synthesize information into an essay. Everyone can improve. All students can learn hard things. Complicated subjects can be broken down into simpler pieces. Step-by-step, learning happens. Rich is dedicated to helping students believe in themselves and reach for results they can be proud of.

Ryan is a certified teacher based in Squamish, BC, with a passion for helping students build confidence, discover their strengths, and develop a positive relationship with learning. Originally from Ontario, she completed her undergraduate degree in French as a Second Language and Biology at the University of Ottawa.
During university, Ryan studied abroad in the French Alps, where she deepened her connection to the French language and culture. After completing teachers college, she moved west to Whistler and later spent a year teaching in New Zealand before settling in Squamish to continue her teaching career.
Ryan has experience teaching in French Immersion classrooms across a variety of subjects, including French, Math, Science, and Social Studies. She has also worked in one-to-one support roles helping students with diverse learning needs build confidence and achieve their goals. Ryan is currently completing her Inclusive Education Diploma through Queen’s University to further expand her knowledge of inclusive and student-centred teaching practices.

Sarah is a qualified English teacher from the UK with over ten years of experience supporting students of all abilities. She holds a BA in English Literature and a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism.
After beginning her career as a Learning Support Assistant, Sarah briefly taught English to non-native speakers in Thailand before completing her teacher training at the University of Exeter. She has since worked across mainstream and specialist teaching roles, supporting learners both in the classroom and on a one-to-one basis. Sarah has worked with students across Grades 7–12, including those navigating important transitions in their education.

Summer is a 5th year Bachelor of Arts student at the University of the Fraser Valley with a History major focusing on Early Modern Japan and a Geography minor focusing on human/environment relations. The joy and challenge of mathematics has always been a large part of Tom’s life, from participating in maths olympiads and running revision classes at school to his masters’ degree at Warwick University and beyond to ‘recreational’ reading on infinity, statistics or symmetry. He finds the purity of the subject, the neatness and objectivity, fascinating, and brings his enthusiasm and deep understanding to his teaching.
Since teaching roles at University, Tom has been accepting students for tuition both online and in person, and ten years after graduating he has coached dozens of students through their studies and exams at a high level. With a focus on high school math and beyond, Tom brings an understanding of calculus and algebra which allows him to provide students operating at the upper end of their school careers with insights and context they will not find on the regular curriculum, and does so in a friendly and informal manner.
Outside of mathematics, Tom is a keen outdoorsman and can often be found attached to a rope and up a cliff or running on the many trails in the sea to sky corridor (all of which seem to be uphill).
