CYNTHIA A.

Cynthia is an Ontario Certified Teacher with over 20 years of classroom experience and currently works with the Toronto District School Board. Born and raised in Montreal, Cynthia’s love of teaching began when she was a case worker in high security youth detention centers. She tended to the young offenders in their academic school day and discovered her passion for helping all children reach their potential and challenge them to be curious and take chances when learning. She then earned her Bachelor of Education from the University of Concordia in 2001 and moved to Toronto to begin her teaching career.
Knowing four languages, she specialized in teaching English as a second language and had several teaching positions in various grade levels as well as a central position in her school board. She presently teaches core French and English as a Second language. She has a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by non-native speakers and is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all her students.
In her spare time, Cynthia enjoys long distance running, viewing documentaries, as well as spending time with her friends, family, and her Frenchie Dolce.

 

 

 

Ana V.

Ana is a young professional & educator. She has a combined experience of 10+ years teaching all ages in varying subjects such as French, music, social sciences, and junior level math & sciences. She completed her French Immersion Certificate in 2016 & graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor in Public Affairs & Policy Management in 2021. Throughout her time at Carleton, she worked as an Economics Workshop Facilitator where she was constantly coming up with creative ways to present information to students- catering to all different types of learning styles. Ana is an incredibly skilled communicator & has a love for teaching that is evident in her work. She believes an individualized approach is the key to the success of her students. In her spare time she likes to read, sing in choir & spend time with friends & family!

 

 

 

Taïs V.

EN: Taïs was born in France and graduated from high school in Montreal with a French Baccalaureate, making French her first language. She also speaks English and Spanish fluently.
Taïs studied in McGill University from which she obtained a bachelors in Biology, and she graduated with Honours and an Animal Health Specialization.
Last year, Taïs had the opportunity to travel to Ecuador where she worked as a volunteer in a small town to organize after-school activities for kids and help them with school work. Furthermore, her first jobs in Montreal consisted in being a summer camp counsellor in which she taught the basics of tennis, badminton, soccer, and swimming to several groups of kids (ranging from 4 to 14 years old).
Taïs is an enthusiastic, patient and social person, and believes her skills will hold a positive impact, learning-wise, on the kids she will tutor.

FR: Taïs est née en France et a obtenu un baccalauréat français à Montréal, ce qui fait du français sa première langue. Elle parle également couramment l’anglais et l’espagnol.
Taïs a étudié à l’Université McGill, où elle a obtenu une licence en biologie, avec mention très bien et une spécialisation en santé animale.
L’année dernière, Taïs a eu l’occasion de voyager en Équateur où elle a travaillé comme bénévole dans une petite ville pour organiser des activités parascolaires pour les enfants et les aider dans leurs travaux scolaires. De plus, ses premiers emplois à Montréal ont consisté à être monitrice dans un camp d’été où elle a enseigné les rudiments du tennis, du badminton, du soccer et de la natation à plusieurs groupes d’enfants (âgés de 4 à 14 ans).
Taïs est une personne enthousiaste, patiente et sociable, et croit que ses compétences auront un impact positif sur l’apprentissage des enfants qu’elle encadrera.

Andrew G.

Andrew is a certified OCT teacher with ten years of experience teaching in both French and English. He has taught full-time in public schools within the Toronto District School Board and the Peel District School Board for the last ten years.
Andrew is highly motivated, creative, and engaging teacher. Andrew has taught Performing Arts in French as a French Immersion Performing Arts Toronto District School Board teacher to over two hundred students in Kindergarten to Grade 5. Having taught the Performing Arts in French gives Andrew a unique perspective on French language acquisition. Students love to read, speak, and perform in French plays given the opportunity.
Andrew is currently a French Immersion Health and Physical Education teacher who teaches over two hundred students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 in the Toronto District School Board. While balancing coaching multiple sports teams, he has also led student council initiatives as well as organized assemblies for his current and past schools in both English and French. When leading student council initiatives or organizing school-wide assemblies, Andrew’s main goal is to prioritizing student voice and student engagement.
Andrew describes his main goal in teaching students is to increase their achievement in the areas of their learning. When teaching French, Andrew actively plans to individualize each student’s learning plan to acquire French language skills. Co-created goals have been proven to increase student engagement and achievement acquiring new skills and abilities. Andrew describes everyday being an opportunity to promote French language while individualizing French Health lessons and encouraging all of his students to achieve their goals.

 

 

 

 

Brianna M.

Brianna is currently pursuing a Masters in Teaching from University of Toronto’s OISE program. She completed her undergraduate degree in French studies with a minor in English, graduating with honours and a certificate of bilingualism. She enjoys working with children and incorporates fun into learning! With experience working at the YMCA’s before and after program as a team lead, as well as working full day kindergarten, Brianna feels well equipped to enhance the learning experience of any child from any learning background. She is organized, patient, and always willing to find another way around any problem. Brianna enjoys music, literature, and making new friends! She is determined to make a change in the educational system and help children feel that they are safe to ask any question. Her teaching style is inquiry-based and driven by a desire to make learning accessible and exciting.

 

 

Anya B.

Anya is a French, ESL, and Social Sciences teacher with ten years of experience, working with children from K to 12. She has also worked as a French instructor for adults. Anya is currently completing a Master’s degree in European and Russian Affairs at the University of Toronto and is passionate about history, literature, and languages. She is a native Russian speaker, fluent in French and Spanish, and has also studied German and Yiddish. Anya is excited to be joining Prep Academy Tutors and sharing her passion for learning with new students.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Abigail M.

Abigail has a passion for education and has been a tutor for two years now, specifically teaching French, English, and Math. She is a University of Toronto graduate with a Bachelor of Arts (with Distinction) and is now pursuing her Masters of Teaching (Junior/Intermediate) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, also at the University of Toronto. In addition to tutoring, Abigail has many other teaching experiences. She has worked as an Emergency Supply Teacher, a Summer School teaching assistant, and an administrative support with the Upper Grand District School Board. She is also a swim instructor and loves teaching all age groups in and out of the pool. Abigail now lives in Toronto and enjoys running, hiking, camping, and exploring the city.

 

ZIAD H.

Ziad graduated from the University of Sherbrooke, Quebec, with a master’s degree in
Chemical engineering. He was a lecturer in mathematics at the University of Alberta and
has 20 years of teaching experience. He can teach mathematics and science both in
English and in French. Passionate about mathematics teaching, he can accurately find
students’ problems and solve them quickly. He has helped many students obtain perfect or excellent in school Math, Chemistry, AP chemistry and calculus or IB (Math, Chemistry and Physics), SAT and SSAT Math, Singapore Math, Math Contest. He has taught more than 150 students in Vancouver at secondary school and college in
various situations in-person and online, and even at undergraduate university level like
calculus for 1st and second years university. He has especially significant experience in teaching Mathematics and Chemistry to High-School Students in West Vancouver (85% among them raise their grade from 70 % to 90 % and above).
In addition to his experience in teaching in Canada, since he is multilingual, he also has
several years of experience in teaching High- School Students in Switzerland in multiple
Institutes and Schools in the region of Lausanne and Geneva.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ASHLEY R.

Ashley graduated from the University of Windsor with a double major in French & Spanish studies and continued her passion for teaching at Western University. She is in her 3rd year of teaching and holds the primary/junior qualifications with specialty in the French Immersion stream. She started her career teaching in a wonderful grade 2 class and continued teaching at the same school for a grade 5/6 class the following year! From a young age, Ashley has had a passion for teaching. Whether it be as a Piano Instructor, Community Program Coordinator, or even teaching at an Adult Language Learning Center, she loves helping others reach their best potential. She values diversity and inclusive environments for her students and fosters positive one-to-one activities to further her students’ understanding. Ashley loves going on adventures and some of her hobbies include outdoor activities, reading fiction books and cooking.

 

INES T.

Ines has a Master Degree in Marketing and has a Bachelor degree in Education. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher with 10 years of teaching experience. Ines is a native french who teaches maths, sciences and french at a public elementary school. Additionally, she completed an AQ (additional qualification) in Special Education. She has a strong experience working with students with special needs (Autistic spectrum, TDAH, learning disabilities, dyslexia, dyscalculia …).
Ines has a true passion for helping students grow and reach their full potential, she is committed to working with them in a personalized manner to help them achieve their goals.
Her enthusiasm, her energy and her ability to capture the attention of her students make her an excellent teacher who masters all disciplines.
