James H.

James H. studied history as an undergraduate and graduate student, earning BA (Harvard College), MA, and MPhil degrees (Columbia University GSAS), with a focus on Medieval and Modern European History. Since then he has taught both World History and U.S. History, primarily in private secondary schools. He has also taught English as a Second Language, working with adult and younger students from a variety of different nationalities and backgrounds. Mr. Hamilton continues to be an avid reader of history, admiring and enjoying the works of Herodotus, Thucydides, Jacob Burckhardt, Simon Schama, Jill Lepore, and many other brilliant historians.

Josh C.

Josh earned his Master’s in Science Education from Rutgers, where he also studied Physics with minors in Math and Education. Since 2010, he has been helping students through private tutoring, Rutgers programs, and various companies—spending nearly 10,000 hours working one-on-one with learners of all levels.

What Josh loves most about teaching is making tough subjects like Physics and Math feel less intimidating. He focuses on helping students really understand the concepts behind the equations, not just memorize steps. Connecting abstract equations to real-world examples is of paramount importance when making things click, and whenever possible, Josh has students explain the material back to him—it’s a great way to build confidence and deepen understanding. Seeing that growth in students is Josh teaches, and he would be excited to help you get there as well.

In his free time, Josh likes to annoy his cat and play strategy games of various types to keep his mind sharp. Eventually, his cat decides they need attention, and then Josh gets to have the extra difficulty of playing while maneuvering around a cat between his face and the screen. It’s a good life.

Ishira S.

Ishira is a dedicated chemistry educator with a Ph.D. in Chemistry at Stevens Institute of Technology. She has over seven years of teaching and tutoring experience across university, college, and high school levels. She has taught General, Organic, Inorganic, Physical, and Analytical Chemistry, including laboratory courses, with a proven track record of helping students achieve top grades and build confidence in their scientific abilities.

Robert S.

Robert is a professional and engaging tutor with 15 years of tutoring experience. He has Bachelor’s degrees in both Math and Chemistry and a PhD in Computational Chemistry from Stanford University. He specializes in high school and college level math and chemistry courses in addition to standardized test preparation in these areas. His level of subject matter expertise and understanding of students’ individual preferred learning styles helps his students achieve great success in their studies. His teaching style focuses on asking the student questions to allow them to arrive at the answer, which results in better memory and pattern recognition when they inevitably later see similar types of problems. He understands that every student is unique and has the patience to work with them on the strategies and methods that will set each student up for success.

Sydni N.

Sydni holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Public Health from Muhlenberg College. She went on to earn a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Montclair State University, where she also pursued a dual degree in Clinical and School Psychology. Sydni is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP).

She currently serves as a school psychologist at North Boulevard Elementary School in Pompton Plains, NJ, working with special education students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. Sydni is passionate about supporting diverse learners and has extensive experience working with students with ADHD and learning disabilities.

Outside of her professional work, Sydni enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her dog, Jax.

Navdeep K.

Navdeep is a passionate physics tutor with a strong academic background and a deep love for teaching. She recently graduated with her Master of Science in Applied Physics from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where she also worked as a Teaching and Lab Assistant guiding undergraduates through physics experiments, data analysis, and hands-on learning. She is now working as a Research Analyst, focusing on high-frequency ionospheric ray-tracing and space weather modeling, and she brings this same curiosity and problem-solving approach into her tutoring.

Navdeep has extensive experience supporting students one-on-one. She excels at breaking down complex concepts into clear, approachable lessons that build confidence and encourage independent thinking. Parents appreciate her ability to connect with students by fostering curiosity and tailoring lessons to their individual needs.

Beyond the classroom, Navdeep enjoys reading, stargazing, and exploring her lifelong passion for astronomy. She believes that cultivating wonder and enthusiasm is key to helping students succeed, and she strives to inspire that spark in every learner she works with.

Finnegan F.

Finnegan is a dedicated tutor with a strong academic foundation in STEM. Ben H.

Benjamin Hughes, PHD is an instructor of Biomedical Sciences at NYU. Benjamin’s long history of research experience includes signal transduction and mechanisms of receptor activation. As a researcher at Case Western Reserve University, he was involved in many studies regarding mechanisms of progressive kidney diseases and renal regulation/involvement of systemic hypertension.

Jean Carlo M.

Jean Carlo is an accomplished teacher with seven years of teaching experience. He grew up in Hudson County, NJ and went to Rutgers University where he graduated with a B.A. in English Literature with a minor in History and a concentration in Education. He got his start in Jersey City as a 9th grade English I intern teacher then moved on to Hackensack where he taught mostly 12th grade English IV for five years. Currently, he teaches SAT/ACT courses to help students score higher in their exams and has helped students with college essays as well as getting into enrichment programs for scholarships and course prep.

He has spent years inspiring students and fostering a love of literature. In addition, he’s expanded what literature means to his students while improving their vocabulary, writing, and reading skills. He enjoys using pop culture and music to enrich students’ understanding of a text. Because who doesn’t enjoy exploring a theme like materialism by analyzing songs like Kendrick Lamar’s “How Much a Dollar Cost?”
