Andrea is an enthusiastic and experienced language teacher who is fluent in English and Spanish. Andrea grew up in Nicaragua and moved to the United States to pursue her education. She holds a BA in Environmental Studies from Naropa Universityand an MBA in Global Business from Adelphi University. Also, Andrea has lived in Bhutan and Northern Spain, which broadened her cultural understanding, especially when it comes to the Spanish language.

Andrea is passionate about teaching, learning, and helping others improve their language skills because knowing how to speak a second language opens a world of new opportunities.

In her free time, Andrea enjoys painting, travel, entrepreneurship, and learning French (her first second language).

Anna is a proud Colorado Native. When Anna was young, she decided she wanted to be able to communicate with everyone on Earth. Pursuing that dream, Anna graduated from MSU Denver with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Spanish and French. She is currently working on her Master’s degree in Curriculum Development.

Anna recently moved back to Colorado after teaching English and Exam Prep in Egypt for seven years. Teaching and living abroad brought Anna’s passion for exploring other cultures and learning their languages to life. Today, she speaks seven languages and has visited over 40 countries!

In her spare time, Anna loves spending time with her family and running (albeit slowly). One day, she hopes to run the Leadville 100 and do a marathon along the Great Wall of China.

Ashley Aemisegger has a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. She is currently in a Master’s degree program in secondary education at Grand Canyon University (Arizona) with a focus in STEM.

Ashley has extensive experience tutoring high-school students in physics, chemistry, calculus, and algebra, and prides herself on adjusting her instruction to meet each student’s needs.

Growing up in the military gave Ashley a unique appreciation for different cultures and experiences. Today, Ashley spends much of her time in England and adores travel.

In her free time, Ashley loves reading fantasy novels with one of her cats curled up on her lap.

My name is Carolyn Paschen and I am a lifelong learner and teacher. I come from generations of teachers who were dedicated to being a part of student learning. I taught in Boulder Valley Schools for 21 years before I retired in 2018. Literacy is my greatest passion. Helping children discover the joy that comes from reading and writing is something I have missed since I retired. I look forward to working with children as a tutor at Prep Academy.

Chelsea Geier is a Certified Teacher. She received her bachelor’s degree in English Education and Spanish from Colorado State University. She currently lives in Boulder, where she is completing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Naropa University.

For the past seven years, Chelsea has been a public school teacher. She has extensive experience teaching middle school students; however, she enjoys working with students of all ages. For example, for a year and a half, Chelsea was a volunteer English teacher for the Peace Corps in Costa Rica, which dramatically improved her Spanish language skills.

Beyond teaching literacy skills to students, Chelsea values relationship building most of all, because learning can’t happen without a solid student-teacher connection. Chelsea also supports the development of the whole child, especially with regards to self-esteem and confidence. She firmly believes that self-esteem makes the biggest difference when it comes to helping students learn.

Chelsea grew up in Parker, Colorado and loves spending time outdoors, camping, running, and hiking.

Ingrid Ulbrich is a passionate and tenacious educator who believes in the unlimited potential of all students to enjoy and succeed in STEM. In addition to helping students learn math and science, she helps them take ownership of their learning and strengthen their learning skills. Ingrid’s enthusiasm for STEM and learning shines through in all of her interactions with students.

Ingrid is a graduate of Niwot High School, MIT (B.S., Environmental Engineering) and the University of Colorado – Boulder (Ph.D., Atmospheric and Analytical Chemistry). She has 20 years of experience tutoring in STEM subjects, including 10+ years of teaching college chemistry.

When she’s not working with students, Ingrid probably has a spatula, musical score, book, or knitting needles in her hands. And maybe a cat in her lap, too!

Jeremy Salgado is a licensed K-12 music teacher in the state of Colorado.

They graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with BM/BME degrees in music education and saxophone performance. They are currently teaching private saxophone lessons and high school marching band.

Jeremy’s favorite performances include playing with CU’s top ensemble (The Wind Symphony), recording with friends and local artists, and premiering a saxophone/marimba duet titled “A Squirrel Named Gregory.”

They have also marched under the world-renowned organization Drum Corps International on the mellophone as a part of two different ensembles within the organization: The Seattle Cascades (2019) and The Sacramento Mandarins (2020-21).

They enjoy working with students of all ages and seek to create welcoming, critical, and experimental spaces where students can explore and grow.

When Jeremy is not teaching or practicing, you can find them hiking around Boulder, making delicious food for roommates and friends, or watching anime.

Lauren Gallagher LOVES math!

That’s why she has been teaching it for 20 years.

Lauren grew up in Colorado and received her undergraduate degree in mathematics and her teaching license at Colorado State University.

After graduation, Lauren found her niche: teaching middle-school and high-school math. This love of teaching and learning led her to complete her Masters in Education.

Today, Lauren teaches middle-school math at a charter school Parker, Colorado. In addition to teaching, she also enjoys tutoring middle-school and high-school math students, as well as ACT and SAT prep.

When she’s not teaching or tutoring, Lauren enjoys spending time with her family (She has 3 kids and 3 dogs.), playing games, going to plays, and traveling.

As a child growing up in Southern California, Naya O’Reilly’s curiosity about the mechanisms behind sun-gilded moments at a beach sparked a lifelong academic journey.

Naya received a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from The University of Colorado, then continued their education at the University of Hawaii at Hilo’s Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Science Department.

Naya is currently a doctoral student at CU in the Environmental Studies Department, where they are a graduate teaching assistant for Intro to Environmental Studies. Naya’s research focus is on “bycatch mitigation” efforts and the Marine Mammal Protection Act as it applies to American fisheries.

Naya’s career path in environmental science was inspired by a deep sense of stewardship for the natural world and a desire to inspire future generations to care about and the planet on which we live — and encourage the next cohort of concerned scientists.

Growing up in Louisville, Kentucky, Patrick loved learning new things. This led to things like a robotics competition in grade school, and the quick recall team in high school. Over the years, that love of learning has grown into a love of teaching.

After graduating a year early with a double major in Political Science and English literature from Xavier University, Patrick entered the world of teaching. That experience was so rewarding, he went back to Xavier to earn a Master’s degree in English literature.

Since then, Patrick has taught and tutored in a variety of settings, from ESL classes to College level courses. While his strengths are in the literary arts, Patrick has tutored a variety of subjects, including Math, Science, History, and Spanish from the Elementary to High School level.

Patrick wholeheartedly believes anything can be accomplished with dedication, support, and effort. Patrick also believes that establishing a sense of trust and genuine care is paramount to achieving everything with his students. He thrives on helping students gain confidence in their studies and in life.

Roxanne is a licensed teacher with a bachelor’s degree in English, and a master’s degree in K-12 Reading and Writing.

Shivani Jain is passionate about helping students excel in math and science. She has 13 years of experience working with middle-school, high-school, and college students.

Shivani has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in math, physics, and chemistry — as well as a master’s degree in International Business.

She is an ideal math tutor for students in algebra 1 and 2, geometry, trigonometry, calculus (1, 2, AP, AB, and BC), physics, and chemistry. In addition, Shivani thrives on helping middle- and high-school students prepare for Mathcounts and AMC 8/10 competitions.

Tangelica is an experienced and passionate educator.

Tangelica has a B.A. in English from California State University, Sacramento, a M.Ed in Multicultural Education from National University, a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in English with an ELD endorsement and Reading Specialist endorsement.

She has taught at the junior high school level for over 15 years and for three years as a Certificated Student Learning Coach (working with more than 1,000 students). Today, Tangelica is a full-time online English teacher and tutor.

Tangelica strives to help students achieve the self-confidence they need to succeed in school — and beyond. She supports students with their academics (reading, writing, and grammar), but also with their motivation, organization, study skills, self-reliance, and perseverance.

She thrives on helpings students learn how to fill in their learning gaps, because the skills learned in overcoming those “gaps” are often the ones that will help them succeed in all their future endeavors.

From a very early age, my goal has been to be a person who makes a difference in the lives of others. So you could say, I’m living my dream.

As a child, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. When I was in 7th grade, I realized my passion was math. This passion drove me to a B.S. in mathematics at Arkansas State University and a M.S. in Education a Northcentral Arizona University.

In my 23 years of teaching algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus, my greatest satisfaction is having former students (especially the ones who struggled) tell me I was the one teacher who believed in them, and that made all the difference.

My approach to tutoring is very similar. I do not just teach math; I teach students of all ages how to think and reason.

I truly believe that confidence is the key to success — in school and in life. That’s why I start by assessing what a student knows and what they don’t know. Then I build on that as they go from confusion to confidence, confidence to competence, and competence to mastery.
