Raemyn is a Franchise Support Manager at Prep Academy Tutors. She has been working with Prep Academy since 2020. Raemyn is a certified teacher who is familiar with the curriculum guidelines and expectations over various grade levels, and she specializes in teaching English and Social Sciences. Raemyn majored in Educational Studies and graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree. Raemyn is passionate about creating a safe, inclusive, and better educational experience for students. In her free time, Raemyn enjoys watching hockey, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.

Abigail is a graduate of Queen’s University’s Concurrent Education BAH/B.Ed program with qualifications in Geography and Biology and a specialization in School and Classroom Leadership. She has experience with the International Baccalaureate program and students with exceptionalities.

Abigail’s teaching philosophy revolves encouraging students to rethink their perception of a subject area through engaging inquiry based activities. She prioritizes real life connections to spark interest and provide the ‘why’ behind the content.

Abigail was born in Halifax, NS and moved to BC in 2022. She is passionate about sustainability and bee conservation, and loves to try out new recipes, ski, and read in her free time.

Aisling is a primary school teacher who is originally from Ireland, where she completed a Bachelor of Education at Mary Immaculate College. Aisling was given the opportunity to teach grades 1 and 2 following her graduation. Aisling grew up with a deep love of travel and took the opportunity to explore the world after completing two full years of teaching after graduating. Aisling spent three weeks working with teachers and children in Uganda. It was here Aisling discovered her passion for teaching and working with children on a 1:1 basis. During the summer in Ireland, Aisling ran a Summer camp for children with additional needs. The camp gave these children an opportunity to practice social skills and engage in experiences in a safe environment. While living in Canada Aisling is taking the opportunity to continue her professional development, especially in the area of Behaviour Intervention which she feels aids her greatly in her one-to-one work. In her spare time, Aisling works one-on-one with children ranging from 4 years through middle school. She has supported the improvement of their reading, writing, vocabulary, and math skills. Aisling believes that by building a strong relationship with her students she is better able to meet their needs and grow their learning. As a mentor, Aisling continues to develop strategies for working with children. She finds these experiences enjoyable and extremely rewarding.

Alison is a BC Certified Teacher with a passion for education and child development. She earned her Bachelor of Education from Simon Fraser University in 2019, following her undergraduate degree in psychology, with a minor in Learning and Developmental Disabilities. Currently, she teaches upper primary with the North Vancouver School District, having worked with students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 7. Alison has education and experience in literacy assessment, instruction, and intervention.
Since her youth, Alison has thrived in roles mentoring children and youth. Her lifelong aspiration to become a teacher led her to facilitate after-school programs during high school and provide private tutoring in math, English, social studies, and science for Grades 8 to 10.

Amrit is a behavior therapist and tutor who graduated from Kwantlen Polytechnic University with a Bachelor of Arts, major in Criminology and minor in Counselling. She grew up in Surrey British Columbia and is fluent in 3 languages. Back in BC, Amrit had been tutoring kids for over 12 years in all subjects for grades K-12. Over the past two and a half years, she has also acquired experience working with kids ages 2-10 with ASD as well as ADHD. It was through her work as a behavior therapist in both centers and homes that Amrit discovered her passion for teaching and working with children. As the lead behavior therapist on all her teams, she got the opportunity to not only implement behavior plans but because she often worked the most one-on-one with the child, she was also often given the opportunity to come up with her own programs to implement to help the child to farther succeed as well as work alongside a BCBA to come up with entirely new plans. Upon graduation, Amrit moved to Toronto to be with her family and further pursue her passion for working with young children and guiding them to reach their full potential. Amrit truly believes that the best way to engage a child is to use the child’s curiosity and interests to help them succeed. Ashley graduated from the University of Windsor with a double major in French & Spanish studies and continued her passion for teaching at Western University. She is in her 3rd year of teaching and holds the primary/junior qualifications with specialty in the French Immersion stream. She started her career teaching in a wonderful grade 2 class and continued teaching at the same school for a grade 5/6 class the following year! From a young age, Ashley has had a passion for teaching. Whether it be as a Piano Instructor, Community Program Coordinator, or even teaching at an Adult Language Learning Center, she loves helping others reach their best potential. She values diversity and inclusive environments for her students and fosters positive one-to-one activities to further her students’ understanding. Ashley loves going on adventures and some of her hobbies include outdoor activities, reading fiction books and cooking.

Ayesha is an enthusiastic second year Systems Design Engineering and Physics student at the University of Waterloo with 5+ years of experience in teaching math and physics to students from Grades 1-12 with various learning abilities. As a tutor, Ayesha believes that any student can achieve academic success when provided with the proper materials and support that is catered towards their learning style.

Benoit is a dedicated educator with over 15 years of teaching experience, specializing in French instruction for students from kindergarten through grade 12, with a focus on the elementary years. A graduate of the University of British Columbia, where he studied French and Human Kinetics and played rugby, Benoit brings a rich academic and athletic background to his teaching. Having lived in France with his grandparents and cousins, he has developed a deep cultural and linguistic appreciation that he brings into the classroom. Fluent in English, French, and Spanish, Benoit connects with a broad range of students. Outside of teaching, he enjoys building Lego with his two sons and exploring science and astronomy. Benoit believes in the power of using music, stories, and authentic cultural experiences to make language learning more engaging and relatable, creating an immersive environment that fosters deeper connections with the language. Binita is a dedicated educator with 13 years of experience specializing in high school physics and mathematics. Armed with a Master’s degree in Physics and a Bachelor’s in Education, she brings a wealth of knowledge to the classroom. Coming from a family of teachers, Binita always knew education was her calling. Throughout her career, she has taught over 1,000 students and published a research paper in physics, demonstrating her commitment to her field and continuous professional growth.

Binita’s teaching philosophy centers on creating strong bonds with her students and bridging learning gaps to help each one excel. She believes in bringing real-world relevance to her lessons, making complex concepts accessible and engaging. Brian is a UBC Engineering student who has a great understanding of the BC curriculum. He took an International Baccalaureate Diploma Program in grades 11 and 12.

He ran clubs that required him to teach Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. Brian is confident in his Mathematics. He won the Pascal and Cayley Math Contests awards medals and several papers of distinction. However, it is important to note that Brian’s target audience is not limited to high school students. Brian peer tutored in middle school. He has experience teaching mathematics to grades 6 to 8 as well. Brian can teach Chemistry as well and achieved the highest score for the Chemistry Avogadro Exam in his school. He can cover a wide range of topics in greater depth, including Stoichiometry, Molecular Structure & Bonding, Periodicity, Acids and Bases, Electrochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Equilibrium, Chemical Kinetics, Thermodynamics, and more. Brian is capable of teaching Physics. He won fourth place in Quizzics, held during the Physics Olympics on March 9th, 2024. The list of topics he can teach includes Kinematics, Dynamics, Energy, Momentum, Electromagnetism, Thermodynamics, Simple Harmonic Motion, Wave Phenomena, and more. Brian’s target audience for Physics is students in grades 9 to 12.

Bryce Rodrigues specializes in tailoring curriculum and remedial teaching across diverse age groups. Holding a BA in Psychology and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of South Africa, Bryce brings deep understanding and compassion into his teaching methods. His role at Choice School for Gifted Children showcases his ability to design and implement innovative educational programs that cater to the unique needs of each learner. With extensive experience from teaching in South Korea to remedial coordination in South Africa, Bryce has demonstrated a consistent commitment to enhancing student performance and fostering an inclusive learning environment. His expertise extends to creating engaging content, managing classroom dynamics, and mentoring educators, establishing him as a dedicated advocate for student success and educational excellence.

Catherine recently graduated from Langara College with a certificate as an Education Assistant. She currently works as a student support worker in a Life Skills class at a local high school. She believes students are capable of learning anything when given the proper attention and the chance to use their strengths. Catherine is positive, passionate, and supportive in everything she does. Her goal is to transfer from being an education assistant to an elementary school teacher. In her free time, she enjoys spending time in nature and reading.

Ciara obtained her Bachelor of Education from Maynooth University, Ireland. She holds teaching certificates in Ireland, England, and B.C. Ciara has over 7 years of experience teaching students from Kindergarten to Grade 7, in a variety of educational settings. She is currently teaching Grade 6 in a private school in Vancouver. As such, she has strong familiarity with the B.C. Curriculum. Ciara holds additional qualifications in Special Education, ELL, and Literacy/Numeracy interventions. Fostering caring, positive relationships with students is of utmost importance to Ciara. She is flexible and adapts lessons to suit the individual needs of each learner. She aims to engage her students by relating the content to their lives and interests and making learning fun!

Cindy is originally from Taiwan and speaks fluent English and intermediate Spanish as well.
Cindy possesses certificates of teaching Mandarin Chinese as a Foreign/Second language. She has over 6 years of experience in teaching Mandarin Chinese, along with the experiences in teaching English in the rural areas of Taiwan, Peru, Spain and Thailand. Her students’ ages are from 6 years old all the way to 60 years old with different backgrounds.
During her working period in Mexico, she helped her students prepare and pass the annual YCT language level tests. Furthermore, for her online students, she designed comprehensive lesson plans to help them with the school level tests as well as the official language test such as HSK.
For beginners, Cindy will start with the materials including several daily topics and interactive games designed by herself.

Daniel is a third-year undergraduate student at UBC studying the Neuromechanical and Physiological Sciences under the School of Kinesiology. His academic pursuits encompass the disciplines of biomechanics, anatomy and physiology, and developmental psychology. Over the past 3 years, Daniel has had independent tutoring experience with kids as young as 10 and as old as 17, guiding students through junior-level subjects such as introductory paragraph formation and fraction addition, all the way to senior-level sciences, pre-calculus, and analytical essay writing.

Deirdre has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physical Education. She is from Ireland and taught there for three years before travelling to Canada and falling in love with the city of Vancouver. She taught Intermediate and Senior Math in secondary schools and also has years experience private tutoring students of all ages and levels. She now works as an EA in Vancouver, supporting students’ of different abilities learning and development. She aims to inspire and foster a love of mathematics in all those she teaches.
In her spare time Deirdre tries to take advantage of all Vancouver has to offer. She likes spending time at the beach as well as hiking during the summer and skiing during the winter.

Dustin is a BC Certified Teacher for Twice Gifted Students and currently teaches grade 5/6. He has taught and tutored children from grade 1-9 and has worked as an interventionist for children with ASD and their families. Dustin formerly worked in an engineering career, but he did not find this career rewarding. After taking a leave, he discovered his passion for education in a daycare and pursued his teaching degree at the University of Saskatchewan. He is also currently completing his Master of Special Education online at Vancouver Island University, which qualifies him to administer Level B testing in K-12 schools in BC. He moved to Vancouver with his partner in 2020 and enjoys flying back home to visit twice a year. Dustin’s extensive experience with children of varying abilities has emphasized the importance of personalized support and tailored lessons to each child’s unique strengths and challenges. Dustin prioritizes empathy, patience, and flexibility in addressing diverse learning needs effectively. When Dustin’s not guiding students through the intricacies of learning, you might find him devouring comfort food, swapping tales with friends, or on the beach playing volleyball. Otherwise, he’s likely curled up at home with a stack of tear-jerker novels, tissues at the ready. He insists it’s just allergies, but we suspect it’s the heartwarming endings that get to him.

Elyse is a dedicated educator with teaching certificates from Ontario and British Columbia. She completed her Teachers College degree at Western University and her Undergraduate Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University. With four years of teaching experience and over a decade in kid-centered establishments, Elyse creates engaging learning environments tailored to each student’s needs. In September 2021, she moved to Vancouver for new opportunities. Elyse’s dedication to educational excellence inspires her students, unlocking their potential. Her expertise and passion continue to make a positive impact in education.

Emily is dedicated to working with diverse populations and is currently working as an Educational Assistant at Choice School for Gifted Children, where she aims to help students reach their full potential. With two years of experience as an Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) therapist and six years of working with diverse populations in Ontario, she has worked with children aged 2 to 20, addressing various behavioral and developmental challenges, and teaching academic skills. Emily holds a degree in Applied Science with a specialization in Human Development from the University of Guelph, and believes every child has unique gifts that can achieve great things with the right support. In her free time, she enjoys concerts, spending time with friends, traveling, exercising, and exploring her new surroundings in Vancouver.

Filip is a BC Certified Teacher who graduated from the University of Calgary in 2017 with a Concurrent Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts and Education with distinction. He also studied Drama abroad in New York for a year during his educational career at the U of C. Since graduation, Filip has taught high school English and Drama at St. John’s – he was actually the one who started the Drama program from scratch at that school. Currently, Filip is working as a Teacher on Call, covering all subjects from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12, more often being called in to teach K-Grade 7.
Separate from teaching, other experience with kids includes working as a superhero at children’s birthday parties pre-COVID. He is also an actor and a co-founder of a successful sketch comedy group in Vancouver. Filip is really good with people, in and out of the workplace. He puts a lot of emphasis on forming connections with the people in his life, whether it is his friends, family, or students he teaches. He is a firm believer of giving every student the attention they deserve to set themselves up for success.

Gabriela is a graduate from the Master of Teaching program at the University of Toronto – OISE, in the primary/junior/intermediate divisions. She holds a certification as an Early Childhood Educator. Gabriela is also fluent in reading, writing and speaking Spanish. Gabriela has experience teaching all subject areas and has volunteered in elementary school classrooms. During her time at the University of Toronto, she focused her research on different types of supports that can be provided for students with ADHD, within the school system. As such, she understands that students have different needs, and as teachers, their primary job is to support students’ individual learning needs. She believes students have an extensive range of abilities and are capable of achieving anything and everything they put their minds on, with the correct guidance and support. In her spare time, Gabriela enjoys being around nature, hiking, running, training and spending time with family and friends.

Greg is a highly motivated and qualified individual with a strong academic background and teaching credentials. Holding a Bachelor of Education from UBC, Vancouver (Secondary) and an Honours BA in Education (Teacher Stream) from Trent University with a major in History, Greg achieved recognition on the Dean’s List. Furthermore, he graduated with honors from the American School of Paris, receiving the prestigious ‘Excellence Award’ and Scholarship (Lyle Nicholl Award) upon graduation.

In the realm of teaching, Greg has undertaken various significant roles. As a student teacher at Vancouver Tech Secondary School and Charles Tupper Secondary School in 2023.

Serving as a Day Camp Instructor and Coordinator at the Sports & Wellness Center from May 2019 to August 2022, focussing on programming thematic units and sports activities for diverse age groups. At Peterborough Youth Space (September 2021 – July 2022), Greg assumed the role of a Tutor and Mentor for marginalized youth in the ‘Downtown Youth Space,’ providing valuable support for those facing social and educational challenges. Haisam is an Ontario Certified Teacher. He grew up in the Middle East, and moved to Canada when he was 14. He completed his schooling and attained his Bachelors of Science and Education from Western University and U of T in 2013 and 2015, respectively. He is confident that he has the skills and qualifications as well as the passion to work with high school students. Having worked as a high school teacher since 2016, from private schools such as Blyth Academy and Burlington Royal Arts Academy, and several international high schools while abroad in the U.K., followed by securing a position as a teacher within the York Region and Simcoe County district school boards where he works currently, Haisam feels that his past work experience would make him an ideal candidate to provide one on one instruction as a high school tutor. Haisam has continually tutored high schoolers which has further helped him realize the beauty of inspiring and motivating others to be the best they can be, and it has convinced him that the teaching profession is his passion. As a teacher, Haisam seeks to ignite the passion and innate curiosity within the students to want to learn by instilling within them the desire for self-discovery. Hana graduated from the Simon Fraser University with a M.Sc. in Mathematics with a 3.3 GPA. She was born in Iran and took both B.Sc. and M.Sc. certificates in the field of Geometry when she was her my country. Hana am currently taking a Mater’s degree in the field of Algebraic Geometry at Simon Fraser University.

Hana was a teacher assistant for undergraduate students. Besides her studies, she has more than 6 years of experience in a high school environment. Hana has worked with Kumon
and Mathnasium, where she prepared and ran after-school tutoring for students.

As a young child, Hana has always helped her classmates and cousins with their math homework, and enjoyed sitting with them while they were working on their math work and grading their assignments. She is enthusiastic to find out the needs of individual students to enhance learning and promote their continence for educational success.

In her spare time, Hana loves to ride her mountain bike. It’s her favourite way of getting fresh air, boosting her energy and staying motivated. Hana is also passionate about percussion instruments and she enjoys gathering with her friends to play them. Hana believes that creating rhythms motivates students to learn mathematical concepts while studying the underlying structure of a wide range of musical patterns. Mathematics then becomes a creative tool that students use to compose their own rhythmic music.

Holly W. is an established and passionate math teacher with over 8 years of professional experience. She found her love of math through tutoring students to pass their exams and graduate in her hometown in Wales. From there she moved to Oxford where she gained her teaching qualifications whilst achieving her Bachelor of Education.
Since then, Holly has taught classes of up to 40 students, aging from 11 to 18 and has enjoyed helping students of all abilities gain confidence in their mathematical skills. She has encouraged students in all sets to achieve as high a grade as possible, and has a vast success rate of students improving and passing exams. Developing a student’s mindset is equally as important as understanding the work, which she has achieved through the forming of good relationships to understand a student’s unique needs and adapting her methodology accordingly.
Holly has tutored both individuals and groups in person and online. Having experience of teaching digitally during covid enhanced Holly’s ability to interact and communicate with students and parents in diverse situations.
Holly’s love of the cold and ice hockey has brought her to Canada. After travelling the entirety of the country in 75 days, and camping for most of them, she is excited to settle in Vancouver and return to her love of teaching students.

Honey is a BC and IB Certified Teacher. She grew up in Vancouver and completed her Undergraduate Degree in Media and Communications at Trinity Western University. Honey then went on to get her Bachelors of Education at UBC with a focus on elementary and middle years education, and the Primary Years International Baccalaureate Program (PYP). 

Honey’s initial interest in teaching came at a young age when she began to volunteer in a Sunday Church children’s program. As she got older, Honey started volunteering for summer day camps, eventually working for and co-running the camp. This allowed Honey to experience all different age groups from pre-kindergarten to grade 7. During the school year at university, Honey volunteered for a youth program. It was there that she was able to experience working with the high school ages. 

After Honey graduated from Trinity Western, she decided to learn a new skill and become a hairdresser but ultimately decided to dive into her passion for education and working with children. Prior to going to UBC to complete her degree, Honey volunteered in both a grade 5 and grade 1 classroom as an educational assistant. Once she began her degree, Honey was placed in an inner-city school in North Vancouver with a grade 6 class. She was able to teach all courses at the grade 6 level, including French. Honey has also had the opportunity to work one-on-one with students who have learning challenges in English and Math during her practicum. She was especially able to connect with these students as she also has a learning challenge that she had to navigate as a young learner (dyslexia). 

Post UBC graduation, Honey has been teaching at a local private school in Vancouver. She has spent the year teaching English, Social Studies, and Bible Studies to three separate grade 8 classes. In her current role, Honey gets a chance to work with various types of learners, including students with down syndrome, ADHD, dyslexia, written output challenges, English as a second language, and more. Honey is passionate about meeting learners where they are, setting goals, inquiring into personal interests, and trying new strategies to see growth.

Ingrid was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. She graduated from ESNECA College with a Masters Degree in Clinic Psychopedagogy and from The University of Monterrey with a Bachelors Degree in Psychopedagogy. She recently moved to Vancouver and she is currently studying an ECE Diploma. Her experience in teaching grades 1 to 6 and specialization in inclusion of ASD and learning difficulties in the classroom have strengthened her education background.

Ingrid is a dedicated and passioned teacher who believes that children should be cherished in a safe, loving, and comfortable learning environment. Her beliefs are inspiring students to grow as passionate learners by expanding the traditional subjects and creating out of the curriculum meaningful experiences and opportunities to act with integrity and empathy and to become impactful global thinkers.

Belonging to a caring family, has shaped her into a more compassionate, kind and understanding person. It has instilled in her a strong sense of responsibility and a desire to reciprocate the care and love received from her family to the people around her.

Jaclyn is an Ontario and British Columbia certified teacher. She received her Bachelor of Education in 2021 following her undergraduate degree in psychology. After teaching grades 1-8 in Ontario for the past two years she is now enjoying her third year of teaching and her first year as part of the Vancouver School Board.

Jaclyn also has over three years of tutoring experience including a diverse range of students and subject areas. Jaclyn prides herself on really getting to know her learners. When tutoring she creates individualized, engaging and hands-on educational opportunities catered to the learning styles of each learner she works with.

Julia has a Masters of Science in Psychology, with a focus on Applied Behaviour Analysis from Capella University, is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) and is a Registered Behaviour Analyst with the College of Psychologists in Ontario. She has experience supervising and working with clients between the ages of 4-17 with ASD and developmental disabilities on a variety of academic, social and life skills, as well as behaviour management strategies for clients and their families. She has experience with staff and parent training and loves to help families meet their goals!

In 2021, Kristie obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from SFU. She is presently studying for her Bachelor of Education with a focus on secondary English at UBC. Additionally, she is completing her certification as an IB educator. The International Baccalaureate (IB) focuses on inquiry and reflective practice, both of which are at the centre of Kristie’s pedagogical stance. In her free time, Kristie likes to read, explore the mountains of British Columbia, and spend time with her loved ones.

Kyle is an experienced BC licensed science teacher with 14 years of
experience in as a classroom teacher. He completed a Bachelor of Science
in Biology/Chemistry at the University of Alberta as well as a Bachelor
and Master of Education at the University of Victoria and the University
of New Brunswick respectively. Over the years, Kyle has taught many
science courses including Science 10, Biology 11/12, Chemistry 11/12, AP
Chemistry and Physics 11/12. With a passion for inspiring learning and a
knack for making complex concepts accessible, Kyle provides
individualized hands on supports for each learner. His goal is to
empower each learner with the confidence and skills they need to succeed
academically and beyond. When Kyle is not teaching, he loves to travel
around the world and immerse himself in new cultures in far-away and
unique places such as Mongolia, Madagascar and Papua New Guinea.

Lindsay graduated from the Concurrent Education program at Brock University with a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Studies and a Bachelor of Education in the primary and junior divisions. Since then, she has obtained additional qualifications to enhance her practice in Reading and Mathematics along with to teach Intermediate English, Special Education, English as a Second Language.

Lindsay has experience in Canadian classrooms teaching Math, Language, Science, Social Studies and the Arts in Grades 1 through 8. She has also taught and tutored in Namibia, Peru and China.

Lindsay uses her passion and enthusiasm towards teaching and learning to establish a positive learning environment with her students. She believes an environment where questions are encouraged and mistakes are respected is one that will promote success in each child’s learning. Lisa is an Ontario Certified Teacher who is qualified to teach K-12. She attended Brock University where she completed the Concurrent Education Program and received both her B.A with a minor in French and Geography as well as her B.Ed. She proceed to complete her Masters of Education at Brock in 2015 with a focus on Leadership and Administration. Lisa has been teaching for approximately 8 years and enjoys helping children learn and understand fundamental skills required to be successful in education and life. She likes to make learning relatable and meaningful by connecting the concepts to hobbies and interests that the child enjoys.

Lisa strives to be a source of positivity and aims to motivate her students to always try their best and work as hard as possible to achieve all of their dreams and goals. She hopes to encourage a passion for life-long learning and to provide students with the tools and confidence they need to be successful in all they do.

In addition to her commitment to her students and education, Lisa enjoys reading books, watching films and tv shows, and going on long walks with her two dogs, Luna and Diesel. Logan is a BC Certified Teacher. He grew up in Ontario before pursuing his dreams of becoming a teacher in New Zealand in 2020. After successfully graduating from teacher’s college Logan returned home to Canada and started working as an elementary school teacher. This past summer in 2023 is when Logan arrived in the beautiful province of British Columbia.
Logan has been a certified teacher for the past 4 years, and has experience working as a tutor for the past two years during the summer months. He has experience teaching all subjects at the elementary level, including French Immersion. He has supported the academic improvement of his students specifically with their reading, writing, vocabulary, language and math skills. Logan is a creative, personal and capable educator that understands his role as a guide and facilitator of learning. He puts an emphasis on creating positive relationships which allows him to relate to his students in a naturally caring and calm manner, building respect and trust. Mahya Sanaei is a mother of two girls with a degree in Economics and Business Administration. She was a head of the foreign trade department for a construction company called TarazRah. When her daughter turned 5 she was introduced to a forest school. It was at that moment when she discovered her love for ‘nature and kids’ is her passion. Mahya began working as a forest educator (facilitator) in a Nature School and holds a certificate as a forest educator as well as her ECE certificate. Now where does the tutoring experience come from? Let’s flashback to Mahya’s last year of high school. That’s Mahya’s first experience as a math, chemistry and biology tutor. She was teaching students in grade 10-12 for about 2 years. When she finished university and started working full time at TarazRah, her unconscious mind led her to become a part time English tutor for kids between the ages of 5 to 12 for more than a decade. Connecting the dots, the love of teaching has always been present in her life. After home-schooling her child for a year, now she has a passion to let the world know that each child is unique and as a teacher by respecting these unique characteristics teachers can help the child thrive their best. Marianne Campbell is a certified teacher with over five years of experience in both general education and working with students with special needs. Dr. Vakarelov was professor in Philosophy and Information Studies at Duke University, where he taught classes in philosophy, mathematics, and computer science. He also taught for the UBC Master of Data Science program, as well as for the University of Arizona, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Toronto, and Humber College. He has a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Cognitive Science from the University of Arizona, an M.S. in Logic and Computation from Carnegie Mellon University, and an M.A and B.Sc.+– in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of Toronto. After home-schooling his son during high school in Vancouver, and after sending him off to join the class of 2027 at Cornell University this coming fall, Dr. Vakarelov will be able to help other students improve their school experience and support them in their preparation for and transition to university. When not teaching, Dr. Vakarelov runs a technology company that develops web software applications.

Paul C. is located in Kitsilano where he is currently in the last semester of his postgraduate program for a Bachelor of Education through Vancouver Island University. Paul first attended the University of Victoria, where he obtained a BSc in Biopsychology, a derivative of neuroscience. After finishing his first degree and travelling, Paul realized his passion for education and helping others is what he valued most. His combined degree has provided the opportunity to understand a wide range of topics. He is able to tutor in Chemistry, Physics, Math, Biology, Socials and English. During university, Paul also wrote for his school’s newspaper, where he developed his writing style and grammatical skills. For the past three years, Paul has been tutoring for individuals and groups, covering a wide range of subjects and ages. From his experience, he has found his teaching philosophy isn’t static, believing every student has their own learning needs and it is the responsibility of the teacher to cater to the student’s learning styles. Raymond is a second-year university student at the University of  British Columbia, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations. Raymond has professionally and informally worked as a tutor, teaching students aged between 7 to 18. Raymond grew up in Guangzhou, China, and is fluent in English and Mandarin. Ross graduated with a first-class honours mathematics degree from the University of Birmingham, UK in 2012 before studying at the University of Bath, UK to become a qualified math teacher in 2013. He taught math for 3 years in the UK to students aged 11 – 18. In 2016 he had the opportunity to move to Stockholm, Sweden, where he has been living until very recently. In Sweden, he was a math teacher and mentor for 6 years for students aged 10 – 16. For the last two years he has worked as a manager in a school in Sweden with a primary focus on pastoral care, which means that he puts a lot of emphasis on building relationships with the students he works with and is acutely aware of how important self-esteem and confidence are to being successful. In his spare time, Ross enjoys watching and playing soccer, and playing board games with friends.

Ryan, a dedicated third-year student at Simon Fraser University (SFU), is majoring in Computing Science with a minor in Mathematics. His academic journey reflects a strong commitment to mastering intricate algorithms and mathematical concepts.

Salomé is currently completing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, following an academic path that includes a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Comparative Literature and Philosophy (University of Montreal), with a specialization in Ancient Greek and Latin. With over 10 years of teaching experience, Salomé is passionate and has built a reputation for excellence in education and scholarship.

Sam is an Ontario and BC certified teacher, currently working  for the Delta School District since 2019. He has trained at OISE in the University of Toronto and graduated with a Master of Teaching degree, following an Undergraduate Degree in Classics at Queen’s. He has taught grades from 5 to 9 and has tutoring experience with the same grade level, and is especially confident with Social Studies and Math in his grade level.

Sara is an experienced, certified Core French teacher, with qualifications to teach students in the Junior and Intermediate divisions. She earned her Bachelor of Education degree from Brock University, and has a certified teachable in French. Sara is currently working as an Elementary Core French teacher, and is thrilled to have the opportunity to share her passion for this language with all her students. Sara completed her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Toronto, with focuses on English Literature, French, and Media Studies. Sara has an abundance of experience working with Junior and Intermediate students to help them explore and progress their new learning. Sara believes that the best and most effective learning environment for students is welcoming, encourages lots and lots of questions, and prizes students for taking risks. She is a passionate and caring educator who is eager to create a learning experience tailored to meet the needs of any student.

Shannon has dedicated 11 years to teaching mathematics in secondary schools. Originally from the United States, she moved to Australia during her teenage years, where she pursued her education with enthusiasm. Shannon completed a combined Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics—simply for the joy of it—and philosophy—because she had the opportunity. Her passion for philosophy led her to further her studies, culminating in a Master’s Degree. She then rounded out her formal education by earning a Graduate Diploma of Education in Secondary Mathematics Teaching.

Shannon views mathematics as a powerful lens through which to understand the world, and her teaching philosophy revolves around helping students access this perspective. Her engaging approach not only demystifies mathematical concepts but also inspires a love for the subject. Outside of her professional life, Shannon has a playful side; she often finds herself humming catchy tunes from the ’90s and enjoys playing the “ten game” with bus numbers during her commutes. She also has plans to put her new pair of jogging shoes to good use, reflecting her belief in maintaining a balanced and active lifestyle. Through her multifaceted interests, Shannon embodies a vibrant blend of intellect and creativity, making her a dynamic presence both in and out of the classroom.

Stephanie has a B.A. in History, and minor in English from Simon Fraser University. She is also a qualified EAL instructor. Her specialty has been supporting middle and high school students in Humanities and English composition as well as Primary/Junior students in literacy and remedial reading support.  She has also worked with many students internationally on English acquisition.

Steve is a highly experienced and certified teacher who resides in Vancouver, British Columbia. Originally from Saskatchewan, he completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Double-Honours) in Political Science and Religious Studies from the University of Saskatchewan in 2008. Steve then decided to move abroad to Korea to try his hand at teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). Despite only planning to teach abroad for a year or two to travel and pay off his student loans, it was during his time in Korea that he obtained his TESOL certification, got married, became a father, and decided to pursue teaching as a long-term profession.

After nine years of teaching experience in Korea, Steve decided to move back to Canada in the summer of 2017 with his wife and daughter. He completed his Bachelor of Education Degree in Elementary Education (with a specialization in teaching English language learners) at the University of British Columbia in 2018. Shortly after, Steve was hired by the Burnaby School District where he currently works as a Grade 6/7 teacher.

In his spare time, Steve enjoys watching his favourite English Premier League soccer team, Arsenal, playing badminton, reading, playing guitar, singing, songwriting, and spending time with his family and friends. Steve also moonlights as the lead singer and guitarist of his rock band, Pen Pal Aloha! Steve’s guiding philosophy as an educator can be summed up by Aristotle’s quote: “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” Steve always makes it a point to infuse “heart” and “head” knowledge in the minds of his students, believing that both are equally important in the development of fully educated citizens.

Hi my name is Tara and I am a high school teacher in the subject areas of English and Geography mainly. I have over seven years of teaching experience in both these subjects and in Special Education. I have also taught on a 1-1 basis for learners both in mainstream and with special educational needs. I have taught English as an additional language to many learners who have arrived to the country with little to no English. I also have experience in teaching children in elementary school both in mainstream and in special education too.

I studied a three year Joint Bachelor of Arts degree in the subjects of English & Geography and a two year Professional Masters of Education, both in University College Cork in the Republic of Ireland.

I have made the exciting move to North Vancouver from Ireland and I am very excited to develop my skills and teaching experience here. I really enjoy working with children and I feel a great sense of reward when they develop their understanding of areas that were once very difficult for them to learn about and comprehend. I also love to create a learning environment where the learner feels confident to ask questions and engage in a way that they feel excited to learn. Aspiring CPA, Tejas is training for post-graduation in professional accounting at Humber College. If numbers scare you, then he can be your go-to person for help. Finance, accounting, and business management are his forte. He finds that too much information overwhelms students which hinders understanding some simple concepts. And some textbooks are very dry to understand something challenging. Tejas’ approach to tutoring is to clarify concepts with simplicity and real business case scenarios. Whether it’s an assignment or a homework problem question he can assist the student at their pace of learning. He was a peer-assisted learning volunteer in the second year of his under-graduation. It was then that he realized that he enjoys teaching his friends and students in college. Tejas is easy-going, and inquisitive to learn and solve problems. He also has some cool study tips and tricks that he would be happy to share, which helped him score high grades throughout his high school and university. Besides academia and work life Tejas is an animal and nature lover. He has an adorable pet dog. He is a yoga practitioner, dancer and a trained yoga teacher from India.

With work experience of 2 years at a young Kombucha startup prior to his master’s education. Tejas gathered hands-on learning in accounting and operations in the food and beverage industry. It was his financial acumen that drew him to the field of accounting and pursue CPA in Canada. He has a bachelor’s in business management with a specialization in Finance from Mumbai University. He got third rank in the batch with a CGPA of 9.61. For his secondary education, he went to a boarding school where he followed Cambridge University board curriculum (IGCSE) and was a part of the student council as a cultural head. He got 90% aggregate in his high school.

Tessa Soleski is a BC Certified Teacher and has recently moved to Vancouver. She grew up in Windsor Ontario, moving to Peterborough Ontario to complete an Undergraduate Degree in English and Psychology . She also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Education. Tessa grew up with a deep love of travel and took the opportunity to explore the world following the completion of her degrees. As an oldest sibling to 3, Tessa has always been passionate about helping others. It is through teaching that Tessa has been able to foster her love of Literature, Social Sciences and working with kids and teenages. In her spare time Tessa works one-on-one with children ranging from 6 years through highschool. She has supported the improvement of their reading, writing and vocabulary skills in both French and English. Tessa believes that by building a strong relationship with her students she is better able to meet their needs and grow their learning. As a mentor she continues to develop strategies for working with children. She finds these experiences enjoyable and extremely rewarding.

Tessa graduated from Trent University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology. After her teaching degree she has spent the last two years teaching a wide variety of subjects to students of all ages, levels and backgrounds. Being bilingual has had so many benefits, not only during her travels but also professionally! She understands how frustrating learning a new language can be and has found ways to make it as enjoyable as possible for her students.

After Tim graduated with a bachelors in Fine Arts from the University of Victoria, he went to teach English as a second language in Victoria, before moving to South Korea to teach English for a year. From there, Tim returned to Vancouver to acquire a Bachelors of Education from the University of British Columbia. He then spent 5 years teaching at Vancouver Christian School, as a Grade 7 Homeroom Teacher, teaching a variety of subjects such as English, Math, Social Studies, and Phyiscal Education. Tim also has experience as a teacher-on-call, and has subbed for Grades 3 to 12. Tim is also well-versed in music and music theory and plays the piano, guitar, and flute.

Victoria is a distinguished physicist, holding a Doctorate in Physics, a Master of Science (MSc), and an Instructional Teaching Certification from UBC. She is an enthusiastic tutor with more than 10 years of tutoring experience, guiding students from grades 4 to 12, making complex concepts a breeze, while creating an engaging environment with real-world applications and active participation.

Victoria’s teaching journey began in grade 10 when she found joy in helping classmates with math and science, realizing her passion for education. Yash is currently a student at the University of Toronto. He is studying statistics and computer science and is completing his bachelor of science degree. Yash graduated secondary school as an honor roll student and shortly after started his teaching career. Yash has worked as a summer camp teacher in Peel District School Board where he taught the basics of programming to middle school students. Shortly after starting University, he started tutoring math and computer science to high school students. Yash believes in engaging students during tutoring lessons and focuses on problem solving so that students are able to develop a thorough understanding of the material. Additionally, Yash also likes to work out, play recreational sports and watch shows on Netflix. In his future career, he aspires to be a machine learning engineer (similar to the people that made ChatGPT).

Yechan is an accomplished educational professional with over two years of tutoring and mentorship experience, specializing in Chemistry. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biological Engineering from Konkuk University in Seoul, South Korea. He is currently pursuing a Diploma in International Business Management at Greystone College in British Columbia, Canada.

Yechan has a proven track record of creating engaging and inclusive learning environments that drive student success. During his time as a private tutor in Seoul, he developed customized curricula in Chemistry, English, and Mathematics, which resulted in a 35% improvement in student grades. His strong communication skills also allowed him to build effective relationships with students and their parents, offering tailored academic guidance.

Ziad graduated from the University of Sherbrooke, Quebec, with a master’s degree in
Chemical engineering. He was a lecturer in mathematics at the University of Alberta and
has 20 years of teaching experience. He can teach mathematics and science both in
English and in French. Passionate about mathematics teaching, he can accurately find
students’ problems and solve them quickly. He has helped many students obtain perfect or excellent in school Math, Chemistry, AP chemistry and calculus or IB (Math, Chemistry and Physics), SAT and SSAT Math, Singapore Math, Math Contest. He has taught more than 150 students in Vancouver at secondary school and college in
various situations in-person and online, and even at undergraduate university level like
calculus for 1st and second years university. He has especially significant experience in teaching Mathematics and Chemistry to High-School Students in West Vancouver (85% among them raise their grade from 70 % to 90 % and above).
In addition to his experience in teaching in Canada, since he is multilingual, he also has
several years of experience in teaching High- School Students in Switzerland in multiple
Institutes and Schools in the region of Lausanne and Geneva.
