New York and Connecticut state curriculum standards are the goals of education and are maintained by all of our tutors. Academic tutoring is the corner-stone of our business. Prep Academy Tutors is proud to offer curriculum-based remediation and enrichment services in Westchester and Fairfield Counties. Our tutors work with your child’s school curriculum in multiple ways including to fill in gaps in their knowledge, revisit challenging subject matter, cover material before it’s taught, and provide students with the tools to better understand and more confidently approach all subject matter.
Tutoring can also be an enriching experience for students looking to learn more or get ahead. Prep Academy Tutors offers unique enrichment programs including Financial Literacy, Public Speaking and STEM to help students challenge themselves academically. Prep Academy Tutors provides at-home and online tutoring in Westchester and Fairfield Counties in the following settings:
- One-on-one tutoring: By bringing education into your home, our tutors build confidence with a customized education plan that is unique to your student. Our tutors create a safe and empowering educational environment where students can learn at their own pace.
- Semi-private tutoring: in this setting, students benefit from working together and learning from each other. Semi-private tutoring is most effective when your child and a friend or sibling are at a similar learning stage.
- Group tutoring: Prep Academy Tutors offers group tutoring in Westchester and Fairfield Counties for groups of 3-6 students. While group tutoring does not provide the same personalization as one-on-one tutoring, it makes up for this with the energy, camaraderie and collaboration that comes with group learning.
FAQs
What subjects do your academic tutors cover? Our tutors cover all core K–12 subjects including math (from elementary arithmetic through AP Calculus), English Language Arts, biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, history, and foreign languages. We also offer enrichment programs in Financial Literacy, Public Speaking, and STEM.
What grade levels do you tutor? We work with students from pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. Whether your child needs foundational support in early reading and math or help navigating advanced high school coursework, we have certified teachers with experience at every level.
What’s the difference between one-on-one, semi-private, and group tutoring? One-on-one tutoring offers the most personalized experience — your child works directly with a dedicated tutor at their own pace. Semi-private tutoring pairs two students at a similar learning level, combining individual attention with peer learning. Group tutoring serves 3–6 students and is ideal for collaborative learning and shared goals.
Do your tutors follow my child’s school curriculum? Yes. Our tutors align sessions with your child’s current school curriculum and assignments. Rather than introducing a separate program, we work directly with the material your child is being taught in class — filling gaps, reinforcing concepts, and getting them ahead where needed.
How often should my child meet with a tutor? Most students benefit from one to two sessions per week, though this depends on the goal. Students catching up after falling behind may need more frequent sessions initially, while those looking to get ahead or enrich their learning may do well with weekly check-ins.
Do you offer online tutoring as well as in-home? Yes. We offer both in-home tutoring in Westchester and Fairfield Counties and fully online sessions for families who prefer remote learning. Our tutors are experienced in both formats and deliver the same quality of personalized instruction either way.
How are students matched with a tutor? We take the matching process seriously. Before pairing your child with a tutor, we learn about their learning style, academic goals, personality, and any specific challenges they face. Our goal is to find a tutor who is not just qualified on paper, but genuinely the right fit for your child.
What makes Prep Academy Tutors different from other tutoring services? All of our tutors are certified, experienced teachers — not college students or recent graduates. We don’t use a proprietary curriculum; instead, tutors tailor each session to your child’s individual needs using the best available materials. We also prioritize ongoing communication with parents so you’re always informed of your child’s progress.
